Question about RAM expansion on satellite notebook

Hi all

I am currently looking to upgrade the ram on a satellite notebook. I looked everywhere and couldn't find what model it is, the model number is PSA-00300C8J if that helps.

Now I looked and you can see that the laptop has only 192 MB of ram installed, this seems quite strange to me, I always thought that he came from very specific amounts, 256, 512, etc..

So what I want to know is-

Should what kind of ram I buy?
Can I put 2 gig in there?
How many sticks should I buy?
What can I do with the old RAM?
How much should I look for to pay?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Neil

Hello

What Equium model you have exactly?
Serial number?

Hi, I have question about ram because I'm so confused how this works.

on my computer it says quad core and 6 GB of ram doesn't mean it all to combine them is 6 GB of ram? or each one is 6 GB?

on my system config it says 6 GB so it means that each of them is 6 GB?

and could you explain how to work this thing of hearts?

    Hello

If your laptop is 6 GB of ram, it will mean that it is a 4 GB module in a slot and a 2 GB module in the other.  You can always refer to download and install the application at the link below.

    http://www.CPUID.com/softwares/CPU-z.html

One time installed, launch the application, click the SPD tab and you will see the size of the memory card in the location selected in the drop-down list.

More info on multi-core processors can be seen here.  Details in this regard are visible in the CPU tab on the above application.

  • Question about RAM CL

Hi guys. I'm finalizing my PC build and I have a question about ram CL I can't find answers for hackers page here. http://ppbm7.com/index.php/news/planning?showall= & start = 3

I would use these two RAM sticks for example.

Module 240 pin DDR3-1333 transcend JetRam™ 8 GB High Performance: CL9, layer 6 circuit board

Transcend JetRam™ High - Performance 8 GB DDR3-1600 240-Pin Module: CL11, 6 layer PCB, ultimate card stability and cross-platform compatibility

My question is, what is the best for video editing? On the one hand we have 1333 mhz to with a CL of 9. On the other hand, we have RAM 1600 mhz faster, but at a higher CL of 11. Now, I'm not one to get caught up in the technical aspects as it may seem, but I don't understand so I can make decisions, especially when price is a factor. In this case however, they are at the same price...

Well good for video editing, important criteria for RAM is:

    • Never, never crashes - it is very important; choose only RAM sticks (certified QVL) certified provider and do not use unmatched sticks
    • Speed; faster is better - while true also, past at the speed of the RAM, or lowering of the CASE wait cycles (latency) contribute to the speed, but the gains are very low; Faster RAM is hardly perceptible vs CPU speed more fast which is very sensitive (I played with it a lot on some versions overclock and test first with PPBM speed and speed up the processor 5% performance contributes to 5% where speed RAM about 30% can speed up about 1%)

Google "what is the CASE for the RAM" and one week at self-teaching yourself if you want to even begin to really understand speed RAM! I know enough to know there is a lot to learn about the subject. The good news is that you don't need really to know a lot to build a reliable, excellent for running Adobe products, including the first, Photoshop and After Effects:

    • Use only RAM who has certified the seller of memory for your motherboard; do not assume that if the seller indicates a set 4x8Go of sticks that will work with your motherboard that two sets of such RAM will work with a card mother 8 locations either! (too late to discuss here, but various factors may override the controller memory in the processor itself - factors include voltage RAM, number of sticks, RAM clock, status of CASE of waiting settings speed, voltage of the cpu memory controller and maybe more)
    • Increasing the speed of the RAM always helps if slightly for first speed up to 1600 MHz (for x 79 in any case) and wins the speed of RAM which are still lighter

Now, back to why both sets of sticks are the same cost. They most likely use the same chips of RAM, which is an important factor for what it costs to build the RAM sticks. While the Asus motherboard you buy allows full customization of many, many, many things, unless you are an extreme Overclocker and plan to spend a few weeks to fine-tune a new simple version you in the bios of motherboard and it say to use XMP settings. This indicates the motherboard, how to set the speed of the RAM and sticks of timings CASE for your particular RAM with the settings the seller intended.

You really know a lot about what you are doing to set the timings RAM in any way other than the simple choice of XMP settings safely. And, you can easily burn your CPU if you don't know what you're doing and you choose some really bad parameters.

  • Satellite 3000 - X 4: Question about RAM upgrade

    Hi all

I'm looking for more information on how to upgrade the RAM for my SATELLITE S3000 - X 4 (120 MB RAM, 14 GB HD I think!). Here's a little history...

This laptop is about 5 years old, and I'm hoping to speed up a bit. I don't want to buy a new computer because she usually serves my needs.

I emptied my hard drive files and unwanted programs. And I ran Jv16 Power Tools to clean the registry and minimize starts the process.

It's always a little slow and if I am considering upgrading the RAM because I think I can do this for about £50. My questions are:

What type of upgrade RAM should I look to buy? (This laptop have 2 RAM "plug-ins" or just one?)
What is the size of RAM upgrade is the maximum an S3000 - X 4 could face?
Could a novice like me to adapt to the style DIY upgrade?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

    Gabrielle

    Hi Gabrielle

He is old enough. I looked for some info, but unfortunately I n t have not found much. The device can use the 512 MB of RAM, and you can use 2 sticks of memory. I'm not 100% sure but I think you can use the module with tracking number PA3086U - 1. 25 M.

The unit is not known to me but please check the underside. On most units, you can find coverage of memory.

  • A few questions about the upgrade on Satellite A300-144

Sorry for the typos, English is not my mother tongue.
I want to ask some questions about the upgrade of a300-144.

    * Some info first.*

    CPU: T2370 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/34445/Intel-Pentium-Processor-T2370-1M-Cache-1_73-GHz-533-MHz-FSB]).
    Chipset: GM965 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/29821/Intel-82GM965-Graphics-and-Memory-Controller]).

    * Questions.*

    1. my frequency of laptop memory at 533 MHz, supports 667 MHz memory controller, memory modules can work at 667 MHz. Is - this because CPU FSB 533 MHz frequency and new processor at 667/800 MHz FSB will fix it or it is hardcoded in the BIOS?

2 Intel said that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?

3 I know, taken of my CPU is μFCPGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 ([http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB]) is a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

The speed of the memory is related on the material. This means that the FSB is responsible for the limitation.
If the FSB would allow support 667 MHz then the memory would also at this speed.

    > 2. Intel says that the size of max memory for my chipset is 4 GB (2 x 2 GB), but Toshiba says that only 2 GB (2 x 1 GB), who is right?
The memory depends on the chipset. So if the chipset supports 4 GB of RAM, you should be capable of this move to 4 GB of RAM

    > 3. I know, my CPU is? FC-PGA-478 aka socket P, max FSB 800 MHz, max 35 W TDP, so T9500 (http://ark.intel.com/products/33918/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T9500-6M-Cache-2_60-GHz-800-MHz-FSB) will be a compatible processor or there are some limitations in the BIOS?

It might be possible that the new processor would be fully supported by the BIOS, but in most cases it should not be a problem if the chipset would support the new processor.
But as far as I know the upgrade of the CPU is not supported by Toshiba or any other manufacturers of portable and its your own risk to run laptop with the new processor.

  • Question about updating BIOS for Satellite 2450-101

Hi, I want to update BIOS for my Satellite 2450-101 (model: PS245E-01TMY-IT). I downloaded the BIOS "bios - 20071008123347.zip" on Toshiba Europe site (see link below). Is this the right one for my PC?
What do you propose to make a backup of the existing before installing the new?

I want to make an extension of memory, but I'm not sure whether this is necessary. Do you reccoment to update the bios anyway?

    Thank you very much!

    BIOS

    Hello!

Yes, it's the good BIOS because it s also for your model (Satellite 2450-101).

A BIOS update is an upgrade of RAM is not necessary. The BIOS has nothing to do with the maximum RAM capacity.
Satellite 2450-101 supports up to 1 GB, type PC2100 DDR - RAM.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A350 - Question about RAM and Vista 32 bit - 64 bit

I bought a Satellite A350 Tiger Direct. He moved with Windows Vista 32 bit.
It is capable in my view up to 8 GB of Ram. Vista 32 bit does support 3.

All reviews on this laptop online say that it came with 64-bit and 400 GB of memory.
Mine came with only 230 GB of memory and 32 bit vista. I ran Belarc advisor, and he tells me that my computer is 64-bit ready.

Is this true? Why is - this me came not with Vista 64 bit?
I want to upgrade my ram but with 32 bits, which is not possible and according to Microsoft you cannot update 32-bit to 64-bit.
So should I buy Vista 64-bit upgrade? (for around 300 euros!). Is this in any way about this?

What are my options? I want 4 GB of Ram or more really bad...

What Satellite A350 do you have exactly?

    AFAIK the most recent series of Toshiba laptop pre-installed a dual operating system;
In this case, you can choose between Vista 32-bit or 64-bit.

To obtain the 64-bit, you will need to restart the laptop and have to press F8.
Here you must choose the option to fix my computer. Then select Toshiba HDD recovery and finally, you should see the option which would be you can toggle between the 32 and 64 bit.

Usually the Vista 32 bit supports 3.2 GB RAM.
Only the 64-bit Vista will be able to recognize 4 GB and more.

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    1. the first problem is that I bought the notebook of Toshiba Satellite A100-003 model. But when I tried to save the European web site of Toshiba with my serial number it says Satellite A100-011. I do not understand what it means that. But I do not know my phone model A100-003-PSAARE-0470257Z. The serial number of my laptop is: 17739127G

    2. Another problem is the European website of Toshiba and Turkey Toshiba official site (http://www.toshibatr.com/notebook_filter.asp?ktg=A100) says Rams are 533 MHz "2 048 (1, 024 + 1, 024) MB of RAM DDR2 (533 MHz)"but mine is at 266 MHz. "

    http://img510.imageshack.us/my.php?image=satellitea100003xg4.jpg

I was wondering in Toshiba laptops of the Turkey has problems or handed in state something? I sent e-mail to the web site of Toshiba Turkey but they don't send me emails or information.

    Thank you for helping me,
    Halin

    Hello

First of all your registration number is not a 'problem '. Maybe it s just a small mistake in their database. When I registered my P200 registration reported me another type as mine was, but after a call to the hotline of toshiba told me, that my machine is listed correctly in the database.
Don t worry, register just she.

    With regard to the RAM:

Do you know why's called it 'DDR' ram? That means 'RAM memory' and the goal is to double the frontsidebus.

In your case, that means: the REAL AND PHYSICAL frontsidebus is 266 Mhz, but because the flow is double you have a 533 MHz frontsidebus (532, 34.Mhz).
CPU - Z and WCPUID are simply display the physical clock of the RAM, but the frontsidebus double the signal and then you pure and authentic to 533 MHZ.

I hope I could explain something to you. ;)

    Have a nice weekend

I used Toshiba Satellite A100 PSAARA, now I have a few questions:

    1. I have updated the BIOS for my laptop (new version 6.0 to version 5.10): everything seems to work ok, but after I rebooted the laptop, it automatically connect a black screen with these warning "checksum bad sectors, F1: default settings, F2:..." (remember exactly).
I pressed F1, my Toshiba reboot works ok after that, so there's something wrong with this warning?

    2. I upgraded RAM to 2 GB (1 GB + 1 GB) with the KingMax brand, if the RAM expandable max I can do on my laptop?

    3. This Toshiba laptop use to edge or video card, I check my Nvidia geforce card real estate (laptop) and I saw this: memory: 256 MB + RAM shared memory: 256 MB = 512 MB of total memory?
So: can I upgrade my card graph and maximum card that I can use?

    4. I cannot set 75 Hz for refresh monitor, can see 65 Hz

    Thanks for your help!

    1. try to load the default settings in the BIOS. Then it should work.

    2. the Satellite A100 supports 4 GB max.

    3. No, the graphics card can not be changed. It s soldered on the motherboard and cannot be exchanged.

    4. what internal or external monitor? Monitor internal and other s LCD works best with 60 Hz.

  • Re: Question about RAM on Satellite M60-135

    Good evening

SRY for my English in advance ;)

I intend to increase the RAM of my M60-135 Satellite. On the home page, I found two corresponding modules.
One is PA3411U-2M1G and the other is PA3411S-2M1G. The descriptions for the two modules are exactly the same (1024 MB (1 GB) memory PC2-) 4300 DDR2 (533 MHz).

Can someone tell what is the difference between them?

Thank you very much for your answers. :)

    Always it is that you should be able to use all modules of memory manufacturers of different modules that supports the specifications on the right;
The Satellite M60-135 supports the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200-PIN SODIMM memory modules.

Currently, I have 512 MB of RAM and want to upgrade. The jury of the RAM has two screws, should I take this and replace it with an upgrade of RAM, or leave the original in and put the new in the slot on top?

    Thank you.

    Hi RareOz,

The amount of RAM you want after upgrade?
If you want a maximum of 1 GB of RAM for example, you can leave the original RAM in and buy 512 MB additional RAM.

But as far as I know M40x supports up to 2 GB of RAM, and that's why it would be necessary to install the module of RAM of 1 GB in each slot. That's why you need two new modules.

The specification is PC2700 SO - DIMM DDR - RAM.
