  I assume you are using a Windows host?

  If Yes...

  -first set up networking networking with vmnetcfg.exe

  -assign vmnet0 to the network card for the internal network

  -assign vmnet2 to the network card used for direct access to the internet

  -Right-click on the map network-icon in the systray and access the properties of the network adapter for vmnet2

  -Disable all other protocols and the Protocol of vmware_bridge for this network adapter

  result: a virtual machine that uses vmnet2 can directly access the internet and the host has no IP address for this network adapter - and therefore cannot use it.

• Virtual LAN with guests and the host only

  I have a win server 2008 r2 host and a couple of virtual machines.

  I want to create a VLAN that contains the host and guest of the virtual machine. I intend to host the domain controller.

  I put the network connection from the guest to "host-only '.

  Then I tried ping between the guest and the host. Ping fails. "request time out" @host and "destination host unreachable'@guest.

  Firewall is turned off on both.

  What could be the problem? Is there another way to reach my goal?

  Did you stop the firewall service, or you have turned off the firewall? Stopping the service does not work.

  In any case, take a look at for example example 4 in the http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947709/en-us for how to configure ICMP (ping) settings.

• Remote Desktop - conflict between the remote control and the host user?

  We set up Microsoft Remote Desktop on a Mac with a remote computer that is running Windows 7 Professional.

  What happens when:

  1. the remote user tries to connect to the Windows host computer while someone is working on it?

  2. a person is trying to work on the host computer, and the remote user is logged?

  Is the second locked user, is there a warning of the conflict, or is there another way that Remote Desktop manage such a conflict?

• Update VUM 5.1 to 5.5 with a base with host and the host upgrades patches

  We are currently running vCenter 5.5.0c with 5.1u1 on all hosts.  We have lines of base (2) attached to these hosts.  One of these baselines is dynamic with all the latest patches to be applied and the other baseline is the upgrade to 5.5.0a.  We have not restored over several months and I have a question.  If I leave two reference levels, AUVS will know to run the upgrade first and then patch the latest version?  I want to just make sure THAT VUM does not apply time to 5.1 before moving to 5.5 patches.  If there is not a good answer on that, the plan is to detach the dynamic baselines with all the patches and it reinstall manually after the upgrade to 5.5.  Management doesn't like going to the latest versions and the plan is to actually update it 5.5.0a, because it is later (update1) HP.  We go to patch after that, while the server is in maintenance mode, but I didn't at the margin of the baselines set if it can run 5.1 patches before moving to 5.5.  I excluded the cumulative 5.5 update1 for our dynamic patch database.

  If I have problems with my VC server. It does not start for some reason, so I'm building a new. The question I have, is if my 6 ESXi hosts were connected to this VC how would I so that they know the new Victoria Cross? I know that the right way to add hosts to a new Victoria Cross would be to disconnect and then remove them from the existing VC. Any thoughts?

  If you cannot disconnect and remove the hosts of the other environment, simply ' add host' in the new.  You will receive a message saying something to the effect of «Eastern host is managed by a different vCenter...» Once you add the new host vCenter inventory, you'll be fine.

  Ikev2 anyconnect works very well in the PC.

  Xml file in c\programs data\profile PC hostname say anyconnect_ikev2.

  Under the ASDM - anyconnect profile I changed the host name to say xyz.com.

  Then PC I tried to connect again and found that the connection has been established and the hostname under xml view profile: PC go to xyz.com.

  Need to know how the PC has managed to connect even if the host name has changed?

  The client connects to the base on the HostAddress profile field.

  Host name, is what is used to populate the drop-down list and identifies the connection in "plain language." Although it is often the COMPLETE domain name, it doesn't have to be.

  When a user makes the connection, one of the things that happens is that any changes in profile on the ASA is pushed to the locally stored user profile.

• vCenter shows all virtual machines and the host is disconnected

  I have a two nodes in the cluster ESXi6 U2 (recently updated to 5.5) running on hp dl380p gen8. For some reason all the virtual machines are running on host A (HA and DRS are enabled).  vCenter shows all virtual machines and host A is disconnected. Cannot connect to A host using vSphere client or web client. Cannot vMotion the VMs. Impossible to activate SSH. Connection DCUI works very well. Cannot perform any action VM

  All virtual machines are in place are running at this point. I don't want to restart the virtual machines. Can you help me please?

• Relationship between memory of comments and the host memory usage

  I noticed today that the memory usage of my cluster rose close to 90% in all of the blades. I checked and found that a number of virtual machines is everyone using over 3 GB of memory host. When I went in the performance monitor for each of these virtual machines, they used only a maximum of 400 MB.

  How the memory usage of comments relate to the host memory usage, and how I can reduce the amount of memory used host so I do not have a performance hit through the cluster?

  Running ESX 3.0.2, VC 2.0.2 Dell Poweredge servers with 2 processors 1.86 GHz quad core and 24 GB of RAM.

• Script to list all the warehouses of data in a cluster, the virtual machines on the data store and the host of the virtual machine is on

  We have warehouses of data which are seen by more than one cluster. I need a script that will display:

  all stores of data seen by a cluster

  the virtual machines on the data store

  the host of the virtual machine is on

  the cluster the host is in

  The output I want is

  name of the store of data, the VM name, host name, the name of the Cluster

  I think I found the answer for the problem of home profile. I changed the following values to 1 for each host to > settings > under software > advanced settings >
