Question of PowerEdge T710 PERC6i Bay double

Hi guys,.

My first post here so excuse my violations of Protocol if everything...

My client had a current Raid5 config with 4 x 500 GB drives.

I've upgraded to a new Raid5 with 4 x 2 TB drives and hit the wall with the 2 TB limit.

My question is - can I set up the first 4 drivebay with the readers of 'old' (4 x 500) as Raid5 and create the OS Partition, Swap Partition, Partition etc. Journal and then install a second separate Raid 5 drivebays 5-8 and set up a secondary table (virtual disk 2) with 4x2TB readers and use GPT to exploit all the disk space available for a player of data 6 TB of monster with a 2 to "rescue"?

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Thank you

James

Yes, you can.  I would give details, but there is just not that much to him... you can have several bays, and as long as one of them is less than 2 TB, then it may be in the boot 'drive '.  (Depending on your server, you can also activate UEFI and want to start at any size 'disc').

  • Configuration of memory with 1 processor Dell PowerEdge T710

We have a Dell PowerEdge T710 server with 1 single processor and we look at the installation of 2 x 16GB of RAM.

The server is configured for optimizer mode. With this configuration, we can install only the 2 sticks of RAM or will we need to purchase a third?

    Blueboy84,

Yes, you can use 2 X 16 GB memory under the optimizer mode.  Informing the banks of memory A1 A2 & (recommended) on separate channels reach you speed supported up to 1333 MHz as opposed to the speed of 1066 MHz when using A1 & A4 banks.

To extend memory future I recommend that you use the Single Rank DIMMS or double RankDIMMs as opposed to Quad Rank DIMM. Quad Rank DIMM use only two of the stores available in the channel.

  • Windows 2012 on PowerEdge T710

Windows 2012 will be installed on a PowerEdge T710?  Is there a version of systems management tools and Documentation that will have drivers for a PERC 6 / i and Windows 2012?

    Greg,

The T710 supports Server 2012 (Standard & Datacenter). As much as the disk GDPS, he was arrested near the release of Server 2008 as the drivers of our controllers are already present in the OS support. This allows you to start right on the OS media. It goes the same for 2012. Then you should be able to boot directly from the installation media.

On another note, support.dell.com has a drop-down list of OS that has Server 2012, so we have released for this OS so drivers.

Let me know how it goes.

  • PowerEdge T710 Tower Perc H800 / H700 not Compatible

Hey I have a dell poweredge t710 Tower Server, when I update Perc 6 / i in H800 / H700 its give me error 'this update Package is not compatible with your system configuration. In fact I want to raid 4 TB Hard Drive in my server, that's why I need H800 / H700...

    Thank you

You can't update a PERC 6 / i with PERC H700 firmware. It is not an update of the firmware you need - you need a new/different controller card.

  • PowerEdge T710 PERC H700 RAID level migration issue

In my new role, I inherited a number of servers managed until now by someone else.  One of them is a PowerEdge T710 with a Controller PERC H700.  There are two matrices; the other has four 3TO disks in a RAID-5 configuration.

I don't need the storage space any where near as much as the reliability factor.  Is it possible to do a migration on-site from RAID 5 to RAID-6 without disturbing data?  There is enough free space, and I have no problem losing a portion of the free space I have.

"Is it possible to do a migration on-site from RAID 5 to RAID-6 without disturbing data?"

Yes, BUT you can use this method by ADDING another disk.  RAID 6 requires a minimum of 4 drives.  Insert a disk "to hot', then in the software OpenManage (OMSA), go into storage, PERC, virtual disks and reconfigure in the drop-down list of tasks available for RAID 5.

"There is enough free space, and I have no problem losing a portion of the free space I have."

Apart from the fact that RAID 6 requires a minimum of 4 drives, even if you want to spend a 4 drive RAID 5 has a 4-drive RAID 6, it could NOT be done.  You can't make a smaller table.  The controller doesn't know - or care - on real data of BONE on the disks (so the amount of 'free space' is not serious) and is not worried about virtual disk space (which would be filled if the total capacity of the discs has been used).

  • Question about the issue of the Double NAT...

Hah I posted for a little.  I have a question about Double NAT.  Is it wise to launch?  Reason why is that I have a WRT54G v6 router and the Zoom ADSL X 4 Modem/Router/gateway and it seems that sites take just a little more time to respond to Web sites.  I just want to know I have to turn off (i.e., go in with my router bridge Mode) or what.  Or leave it alone.  Now one last thing: that the problem of slow could actually be AT & T but I have the feeling that this isn't.

What configuration options you have on the Zyxel to fill? What have you tried exactly?

The basis for the first option is:

    * Bridged Zyxel.

    * Linksys configured for PPPoE with your user name and password for the internet connection.

Instructions to fill the Zyxel are here or here depending on the exact model of Zyxel.

    The second option is:

    * Zyxel doing business as the router. I assume here that the Zyxel is on 10.0.0.2 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0.

Unplug the Linksys to the Zyxel. Connect a computer to the Linksys. Open the web interface of the WRT to http://192.168.1.1/

    On the main Setup page:

    1. change the LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 address 10.0.0.1.

    2 disable the DHCP server.

    3. save the settings. You will lose the connection. Unplug the computer.

    4. wire one of the numbered LAN ports of the Linksys for the Zyxel. Do not use the internet port of Linksys!

Now you should be able to open the Linksys web interface to http://10.0.0.1/ all devices connected wireless of Linksys or connected to one of the three LAN ports must have a connection to the internet via the Zyxel.

  • DELL PowerEdge T710 support for 2012 Windows

    Hello

I was reading this document on the support Windows 2012:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/TechCenter/OS-applications/w/wiki/4149.Dell-PowerEdge-server-support-for-Windows-Server-2012-and-its-features.aspx

If I understand correctly T710 is supported for the installation of Windows 2012 as:

    Support Dell - qualified.

And 'X' means that the long-term 2012 Windows: error memory consumed, Collaborative processor performance counters, logic processor idling, compatible device name are not supported on this server. Only SR-IOV future is supported?

    Thank you

That is right.  Consumed memory error, the processor performance counters Collaborative, idling logical processor and compatible device Naming are only available on generation servers 12.   Server 2012 will take place on the T710.

    Kind regards

  • Table of raid (redirect) in a PowerEdge T710

Can someone tell me the exact steps to replace the HD in the table when they start to fail. There PERC6. There are 4 disks in the array and both fail.

  • replacing a drive RAID 1 failure in PowerEdge T710

I just got the disk(146GB) of replacement for one of the disks RAID 1 has failed. I would like to know what the best approach is to replace the defective with the new one (same size), now that the spare drive (300 GB) is used by the raid. I want to get the bigger drive and re - assign as a global hot spare, by the original configuration is possible without disconnecting the server?

    Here is my config:

    T710 Server (8 discs - 4 X 146 GB, 4 x 300 GB)

    PERC H700 integrated

    2x146GB drives - RAID 1

    2x146GB drives - RAID 1

    3x300GB drive - RAID 5

    1 x 300 GB disk - hot spare

    Thank you.

This should work for you. What it will do is essentially the same process I described. When you insert the replacement drive and implement the Member to replace it will fail then the immediate replacement and then start reconstruction on replacement.

  • Upgrade memory PowerEdge T710

    Hi all

I currently have a T710 with 144 GB (8 GB 18 locations).  I would consider up to 192 GB of RAM, the cheapest way possible.

I realize that I can't just drag sticks of 16 GB in there, and that it must be prepared in a certain way (some banks in some processors, etc.).

Can anyone advise me on what I should buy and what configuration I should look?

    Thank you very much

    -Mark

    Brooky99,

With the upgrade up to 192 GB of 144 GB you will need to swap the 8 GB DIMMs in the memory locations with WHITE tabs (A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3) with 16 GB DIMMs. Who will ensure that the 3 channels by UC are populated the same. This is a valid configuration.

Let me know how it goes.

  • How to disable VGA integrated PowerEdge T710

    Hi all

I have a problem when I install ASUS EAH6870 in PE T710 VGA card can installing the Server Windows Server 2008 R2 on windows detected device manager and install the driver ASUS VGA card but can not send the signal to display to monitor all the so I'm looking to disable VGA in the bios but I can't find the menu to disable it so if anyone has a solution to solve this you problem share it for me.

The T610 and other PE servers have the ability to disable the video controller integrated into the devices section integrated BIOS. However, to access and change the default "enabled" to "disabled" setting, a PCIe video card must be placed in a location PCIe.

In the case of the T610, no x 16 PCIe slot is if you need a x 1 PCIe card (expensive) or you need to change a x 16 card adapted (not expensive if you have a spare as I did).

Fortunately for you, the T710 there x 16 slots in order to have a larger base of x 16 cards to choose from. Just make sure you don't exceed the PCIe power allocations and know that by disabling the on-board video, you lose some features also (virtual kvm, etc.). It is all documented in the manual of the material.

Also, there are many messages about PE server of video cards. Searching the forum for 'Card video T710' would have given this post in the upper part of the result. 'Card video T610' research gives a little more, this post which includes a picture of my card updated the.
