  • Question about full scan of the Table and Tablespaces

    Good evening (or morning).

    I read the Concepts of Oracle (I am new to Oracle) and it seems that, based on the way in which Oracle allocates and manages the storage of the local the following is true:

    Principle: A table which is often accessible by using a full table scan (for some reason any) would be better resident in its own dedicated tablespace.

    The main reason I came to this conclusion is that when you perform a full table scan, Oracle doesn't diluvium IO, reading probably one step at a time. If datafile (s) of storage space only contain data for a single table, then a reading series will have to skip segments containing the data in the other tables (as is the case if the tablespace is shared with other tables). The performance improvement is probably low, but it seems that there is a very similarly.

    I wish I had the thoughts of DBA experienced about the assumption above.

    Thank you for your contribution,

    John.

    a reading series will not jump the segments that contain data from other tables

    You are referring to a misleading picture of the operation.

    Let's say 'A' table is a table among a number of tables in a tablespace that consists of one or more data files.
    Since this is one of the many tables, it may not start at the beginning of a data file. His first measure may be somewhere in the middle of the file. The next step may not be nearby with the first step. The 3rd degree can be in different data file.
    So, it's the picture where you see Oracle having to jump the other tables when you do a FullTableScan.

    Now, view the same image:
    Measure 1 is in the 1000 to the 1127 block block (IE 128 blocks) in the data file 6
    Measure 2 is the 2400 block 2527 block in the data file 6
    3 is to the block to block 9371 9245 in datafile 12

    How Oracle does not have a FullTableScan? It starts with the segment header to get a map of the extent (it would read UET$ in a dictionary managed tablespace). He knows now what degrees it should read.
    What is doing?

    He made a call to the operating system to read 1000 blocks Oracle 1127 in the data file 6.
    The operating system then translates this call to starts and ID ranges and the block of the file system.
    The operating system puts this request to the storage subsystem.
    The storage subsystem and then translated the BONE, ID, blockrange to the drive starts, track, sector.
    Assume that these are all the neighbor on the single disc (that is, the volume is not distributed over multiple LUNS and disks).
    Storage reads the information and sends it to the operating system. This can still mean multiple readings, because the head (or several heads because the disc is made up of several trays) does not read 1 MB in an "appeal".
    The operating system then collects the 1 MB and passes it to Oracle.
    Oracle then fills buffers in its cache buffers--(PS: Astuce!) Tip! (: don't you know that it will be not be neighbor memory locations?)
    Microseconds past milliseconds.
    The disc is still spinning (it stops ). It has "evolved" - a different set of blocks are now under the read head.

    Oracle is now asking the OS for blocks of 2400 to 2527 in the data file 6.
    Oracle did not to "jump the other tables. He just made a separate call to the OS with a new range of blocks.
    The operating system now translates the block ID and filenumber at its own mapping.
    Storage then made his translation.
    The disc under the head blocks are very (almost certain) to be a different from blocks together. Not even those corresponding to 1128 Oracle Oracle datafile block 6. Not even the ones corresponding to 2400 block Oracle in Oracle data files.
    We are suffering now fetch - and reading the disk.

    and the story continues...

    And what happens if there is finally another user on the same system? Between the first blocks 1000-1127 call and the second call to blocks 2400-2527, that other user requested blocks 2000 (IE made a call from reading one piece).
    And, after the second measure is read by the user FullTableScan, a third user has requested block 2048 in a single block read call.

    It is important that the Table is not in the neighbor extensions? Even if you did put the table in "adjacent areas" they are not likely to be contiguous on the disk. Even if they are nearby on the disk, they are not likely to be able to read without delay, because the disc has passed.
    And we have not even spoken interleaving where readings from multiple disks need to be coordinated.

    So why still prefer 1Mo diluvium readings in Oracle? Because most SOAs allow a single OS call of up to 1 MB. Therefore, the overhead of Oracle making a call to read 1 MB are experienced only once. If the operating system allowed a maximum of 256KB reads diluvium, even a reading of 1 MB measurement must be carried out as 4 separate calls to the OS (and, recursively, 4 separate calls to the OS for the storage subsystem). We try to reduce the number of calls from software that we do. We cannot reduce the time of access and reading (but allows us to achieve more high "parallelism" in readings striping).

  • It is recommended to have a vulnerability for Cisco ASA device scan.

    Dear everybody.

    I have a doubt about the analysis of vulnerabilities for Cisco ASA device. Currently we have a vulnerability to network devices include firewalls. But after race for cisco ASA vulnerability scanning, found nothing in the analysis report.

    Is it is recommended to have a Cisco ASA vulnerability scanning and it will defeat the purpose of the firewall?

    I do not understand you ask you can set the ASA to allow an external user, run an analysis on the internal network?

    If so the answer is generally no. The ASA, by default, not allow incoming connections (or attempts of connections) that are not explicitly allowed in a list of inbound access (applied to the external interface). In most cases there should also be (NAT) network address translation rules configured.

    If you had a remote access VPN, you can allow external scanner to connect through that, then they would have the necessary access to analyze internal systems (assuming that allowed VPN access to all internal networks)

  • "This connection is Untrusted" appears when you try to access all sites on MacBook Pro; problem started after running Avast scan of the computer

    I ran the full scan of the disc of Avast. Since then, I have been unable to access any site using Firefox without getting the message, "this connection is not approved." Many are the sites I have been too many times before, and they are trusted sites. I don't know if there is a problem with Firefox or Firefox could recover place a sort of new "infestation". The Avast scan resulted in 5 put files in a quarantine area. Eleven years could not be scanned. Thanks for any help you can provide!

    I guess Safari normally works on these sites?

    The latest version of avast! Web Shield includes a function to filter your Internet connections for potential threats. In order to filter secure sites, it must present a certificate of 'false' for the site in Firefox, so it can be 'in the middle' and read your secure communications. If Firefox is not set false certificates of trust, then you will get warnings for all secure sites.

    You can disable this feature as a test to see if the problem goes away.

    If this works, but you want to use the feature, you must import the certificate of Avast in the tab "References" of Firefox so Firefox accepts its false certificates (there might be an automated way AVAST to do this for you, or you might need export from IE and then import them into Firefox).

  • ScanJet 4890 cannot scan to PDF (windows vista)

    Recently, I replaced a 6 years Dell Latitude 810 runnung XP pro with a Dell E6520 running Windows 7 64-bit. I installed my Scanjet 4890 using the Windows Vista software and driver (using the compatibility check). I can scan documents to a printer, .jpg, .tif and .gif, but I can't scan to Adobe Acrobat (not an option, I can select). On the 810, I could sweep Acrobat. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thank you.

    I hacked my way to a solution:

    1. place the document in scanjet, connect to the computer, turn on scanjet;

    2 launch the scanjet analysis, NO Office, with (document) at the far left button on the top of the cover of scanjet;

    3. answer questions on the "Scan button scan" window that pops up just:

    -Click on the option button "Document" and one of the 3 color choices;

    -in "Scan to:" dropdown list, choose 'Save to file';

    -in "file type:" drop-down list, choose one of the options PDF.

    -other options can be selected as required;

    4. click on the button "Scan" (lower left corner of the window);

    5 answer questions on the window "Scan to file Save Options button Scan" which has just popped up.

    6. click 'OK' (at the bottom of the window);

    7 analysis program will launch; Navigate as always;

    8. when all documents have been scanned, will find your document in the selected directory 5, above.

    I hope this helps!

  • OfficeJet 5740: Scan to network folder

    I can't scan to a network with my Officejet 5740 folder as I do with the 8620. This is a limitation of the equipment and in this case when I remove this printer those that support this feature.

    Hi @Talerian,

    I studied your question on the scan to a folder in network on the Officejet 5740 - and I am sad to say that it does support these scan methods:

    • Scanning to a computer
    • Scan to a memory (7640 ENVY and Officejet 5740 and 8040 only) device
    • Scan directly to e-mail (only wireless Internet connections)

    You can see how to use these document: scanning to a computer, Email or device memory

    Scanning to a network folder is an advanced scan option and is only available on the top models of the end (like your 8620).

    Here I had better news, depending on where you bought the device, you may be able to exchange but I don't know about you - you should check with them.

    Thank you

  • DeskJet 2542: Scanning with HP 2542

    I'm trying to analyze a certificate. Using my desktop computer, my scanner triggered the file in 15 separate files. He is an Alien Ware Area 51, running with Windows 7. My laptop, Dell Inspiron 15, 10 windows OS, he intones 32 different files.  HOW DO I MAKE IT ONLY 1 FILE?

    Hello @rayshoeand welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

    I see that you have questions about your scanning options.  I would like to help!

    You have problems, make a copy, as opposed to a scan?

    I recommend to remove printer ink cartridges and reset the power supply.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

    I suggest also download and run the HP print and Scan Doctor.

    Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • While a single F2187 not scanning (Windows XP)

    This all-in-one has already worked on this computer and scanned documents. I solved the immediate problem by copying the document in question, rather than scanning it as expected. I sometimes alternative HP all in one installed on that computer. It is a USB connection on a single computer.

    I read the article for help . The scan diagnostics program does not list the all in one F2187 as being installed, it just displays USB.   The help section is re - install, but I already recently did the first time I read the article. I reinstalled using the internet, as I do not have the CD origianal at hand at the time. (So also no instructions for the moment)

    Other notes

    • Even if I get a message on the connection not the all-in-one works ok as a printer.
    • The scan does not work with HP solutions
    • The copy will work however the HP solution
    • No doubt the background material button is to copy, it doesn't work (high green flashing of the LED for a while - but there is no attempt at analysis.)
    • Scanning does not work from Windows XP (after trying to analyze in the paint - analysis option is greyed out)
      (I wonder if that indicates some kind of conflict)

    Any help or suggestions welcomed, but it may take me a few days to get around events and try to solve this problem.

    This is a long post, so I'll start with:

    In summary

    • something has changed and stopped the analytical work, I guess an update, or an update failed
    • an installation using a web download has failed repeatedly
    • HP diagnostics and troubleshooting does not seem much help
    • a re - install from an original cd has worked (in fact the CD might have been a different HP printer)
    • I see that my security software seems to interfere (Norton Internet Security) with the web update
    • Msinfo32 did highlight the problem

    Now for a longer answer

    I don't know why the scan has stopped working. I'm guessing that maybe an update was not suitable, or an update has failed. My system is Windows XP and using run-> msinfo32 I couldn't be a problem that the printer has been listed as a problem the appliance without driver.

    I tried the downloads of diagnosis HP that they did not help as much as a problem has been identified, but no printer has been identified as being installed, it just displays as a USB device without a name. RHE print download diagnostic work and give a load of green ticks. The printer did continue to work.

    The download of the web re - install failed. An attempt ended with a fatal error. Most of the attempts ended with screens showing but no option to do something. For example a progress bar still not 100% but an end 8/8 and gray buttons. The installation process with the Windows Task Manager to kill led to a download of an another interactive help file. I'm not sure that this was the case of good advice or offered that solve anything, but it was good at least to see happening.

    I tried to use one of the downloads of convenience store without being connected to the internet, but he refused to play that a connection is required.

    I noticed that my internet security was apparently interfering with the process.

    I am currently using Norton Internet Security. (NIS)

    I tried to start a re - install security installed and activated. I don't have anu warnings or advice to which I would need to react, but I noticed he was blocking actions. This continued even once installed software had its security option further down.

    I came to the conclusion that unless I uninstalled NIS a re - install online would not work.

    I dug an installation CD

    • I left off Internet - contributing to the security
    • I used the interface parameters of the user interface to reduce his minimum security setting NIS
      (he may still have blocked an online installation, but now he was offline, I have no blocking view reports
      -Note that I speak no explicit blocking reports
      (- I mean only blocking reports once apparent, history of security is displayed from NIS)
    • It worked, now the installation proceed as usual

    All in one printer works again including the scanning from the software, the hardware button

    He don't not at the moment seems to function as a scanner of Windows in the paint, it's something even HP help pages expect, he is listed as a workaround for problems of scanning.

    If you are interested in you answer

    • is NIS proving a known problem, and if so, that being done about this, is this a known issue on their forum?
    • you are able to get the web Updater runs on a XP with NIS system, if necessary
      • stuff like what I should have done?
      • you get block messages or not?
      • I am attaching a picture of HPZSHL01. EXE is not loved, but there is no option to trust him etc.
      • I am also attaching a picture display which of NIS user interface, should be relatively non reactive it is stopped, as well as can be done bar uninstall
      • Someone at - he better ideas except that it is a bad installation, is this a known problem and is the fact that the web install a known issue?

  • HP 8600 N911a very slow scanning

    Hello

    I used the printer for about 12 months without problems and the WiFi fast scanning. Now the printer works well, but it takes 9 minutes to scan 1 pdf page at 200 dpi on WiFi.

    I reinstalled WiFi, define a fixed printer off modem printer network address and the laptop (windows 7 pro 32-bit) and restarted all 3 devices, none of these things helped.

    I disabled Kaspersky firewall did not help either.

    I'm trying to scan using WiFi

    The problem started only after I bought a Billion BiPac 7800 NXL modem wireless, don't know if it's important.  It has speeds of 10/100/1000

    I searched forums, has seen a similar problem, but did not see a resolution, the discussion appeard to be cut on page 4

    Can anyone help?

    Hi Crystal,
    After posting the question I tried scanning from my ipad. It scanned a page in 5 seconds so I downloaded a driver update from HP for my laptop. Then I had to remove the fixed IP address to the printer to connect correctly to the network using Wifi.

  • LaserJet M3035xs MFP Scan because of the network folder

    Hello. I had a question about the scan to network folder option on our M3035. At the same time, I had this put option in place and works very well with all our Windows 7 computers. The hard drive in the Copier has failed and had to be replaced that erased all our settings. I used the wizard to add folders to the copier to scan network and even though files test ok at installing any of my test scans are appearing in the record. I was getting an error in a first time on it is not unable to check access I went into the settings using the IP address and added my credentials in this way. After this step, I was able to scan, but nothing appears in the record. HP wants $1,000 to get out because we are no longer under warranty.  Any assistance that you can offer is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you for responding. My Info was valid and set up the same way it was before. I decided to take a different route and put all the files on the server through the server to scan and save. That seems to work for now.

  • Black streak on a scanning/copy (Office Jet 8600.)

    Hello

    I'll do a quick tutorial on how to fix the black streaks on a problem to scan or copy.

    This problem could be due to the problem of calibration of scan during the March.

    Now, this can be easily solved by one step. This step is a hard reset with the printer.

    Hard Reset:

    Unplug the power cord at the back of the printer and then on the wall. After this please take out the ink cartridges. Once you disconnect the two, wait 30 seconds then plug it back in the printer first, then the wall.

    Which tends to resolve streaks on a question of copy/scanning that happens after the departure to the top.

    I suggest you clean the glass of the scanner with a cloth and glass cleaner. You can follow this document which will give you a few steps more on how to clean the scanner glass.

    I really appreciate it!
