Question re: Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g adapter and connection w/Linksys E2000 wireless router

Help! I'm at my wit's end. I just bought a Linksys E2000 router and cannot find a way to get the router to connect wireless on my HP G60-235DX laptop (running Vista) via the WPA2 setting. I know that the Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g wifi adapter is the question, and I downloaded the latest driver update... and still have the same problems.

FYI - I can connect to the computer via the internet cable from the Linksys E2000 router so I know that it is not a modem issue.

Help... PLEASE, I BEG YOU!

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Paul,

I solved the problem! After almost return the router to Best Buy today during lunch, I decided to give it a try more tonight and again call LinkSys. After almost decided with the Linksys officer that they only solution is to put another card in my computer, we stumbled on the question.

We have gone to 5.0 GHz to 2.4 and spent the 'auto' channel to channel 9.

And now my computer works like a charm (thanks also to update the driver as you instructed).

Thank you!

    Compaq Presario A931NR + basic router F7D1301 Belkin v1 (01)

Belkin told me that I should update my Atheros card driver to use WPA/WPA2.  I can only use WEP with the factory installed Atheros AR5007 802.11.b/g WiFi adapter.  Device Manager reports that the driver software for your device is updated.

    Driver version: 7.3.201.25

Could there be an update for my Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g adapter
    All the answers most welcome

    Hello:

Let's take it from the top...

I know for a fact that you can get your wireless card to work with your Belkin router. sm09 and others were able to get the same card to work on them.  I have every confidence that you can too.

No more than I do (other than you perhaps), wants you to be able to connect to the internet as you had planned to in the first place.

The devil is in the details.

    Here's what I recommend...

    1. Download this driver and remember where you saved it. Do not install it immediately.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-99392-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en

    2. go to your network and sharing Center and disconnect your current wireless connection.

    3. go to your device manager, click on the section of the network adapters, and then right-click on your Atheros wireless network adapter.

    4. Select uninstall and then if there is a box to check who says unistall drivers, check this box.

    5 reboot the laptop.

    a. it will detect the card wireless again and can install drivers.  If she did install the drivers, please return to this Atheros device in Device Manager and click on the driver tab, check the driver version and date.

    b. If it is 9.2.0.444 some time in 2011, and then the driver you need to get your adapter to work has been installed.

    c. If the driver is another (earlier) date/version, now, install the file you downloaded previously. After installation, go back and check that the 9.2.0.444 version is now installed. He must have

    6. If the wireless card it does not install when you restart the laptop, now to install the file you downloaded above and check once more to make sure that version 9.2.0.444 is installed.

    7. return to your network and sharing Center and set up your wireless connection as you hear it.  WPA2-Personal - AES.

    8. cross your fingers...

  • My laptop Vista with Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g adapter does not connect to the internet using the local area or wireless network connections

I just bought a new router d-link wireless n for my house.  Connect my Win 7 Desktop, laptop xp to Acer and multitude of other devices, but my laptop Vista with Atheros AR5007 adapter does not connect to internet.  I tried to disable IPv6, defining the name of the network, flushing dns cache, etc..  Nothing will work.  (It would not connect to an another 802.11n router in January either.)

I get local only on both connections Wi-wired and wireless, no matter what I do.
I'll send this to my office that I can not connect my laptop to the internet and he does not see the other machines on the network.
Any suggestions from anyone?  I spent hours trying to solve the problems, now completely stumped.

    OK, here was my fix:

I tried a lot of things, but they do not work.  I downloaded a 'new' driver of HP - it turns out it was the original with the problem.  I found another one that was about a more recent months, still does not work.  I finally managed to get the atheros.cz driver for my card files.  But they do not have an installation file.  I had to search for each old file in its directory, copy it to another place (to be sure, just in case) and then copy and replace the old file with the new file in the original folder.  Fortunately, there were only 6 files, but it took about an hour and a half.  This isn't a lot of time compared to the 18 or if I was just trying to figure out the problem.  Now, my laptop connects to the internet without problem.
I had this problem with a router "n" beginning of the year in a hostel.  The guy in the Inn told me that he had seen before once.  It's obviously a common problem with these cards (as seen on the "solutions" online) and Vista.  I'm always hating on Vista after this problem.
  • Presario CQ60-211: laptop Presario CQ60 - 211 DX - need driver device Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b/g

I am looking for an updated driver for the Atheros AR5007 wireless LAN.  Specifically, I hope that the update supports 5 GHZ capacity.  It is not easy to locate.  I looked in the forum announcements, but the only pilot noted for my laptop was not the same model, as I installed initially.

Any idea of a source for an update of the driver?  This device does support other than the frequency of 2.4 GHZ?  Thank you.

    Hello:

    It is a hardware limitation.

The card only works on the 2.4 GHz frequency.

Whenever you see a wireless card with a model suffix ends with b/g or b/g/n, it means that it is a single band wireless card.

Wireless cards 2.4/5.0 GHz have suffixes model that ends in a/b/g or a/b/g/n.

This is the latest driver for this model of the wlan card if you encounter problems connecting to the internet, but you can connect to the network...

Basically - I have a computer old enough HP G60 laptop running Windows Vista and using some providers of internet (SKY and Virgin Media) I can connect to the internet, but it only shows Local only. (I don't have this problem when it is connected to BT Openworld is told by the way, not sure of the relevance of this?) Is it possible to update the Atheros driver for this problem?

Very grateful to anyone who could help me!

    Thanks in advance

    Hello:

You probably need to install the updated wireless driver that provides support for WPA2 security.

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=5060881&swItemId=ob_108905_1&swEnvOid=4059#

Check to make sure that the new driver has replaced a former and indicates a date of version 2011.

If she does not, uninstall the device by right clicking on the Atheros wireless card, select uninstall, reboot and install the new driver.

  • Pavilion dv4-2160us with Atheros AR9285 and D-Link WBR-2310 wireless router connection problem

NB sometimes has problem connecting to the router. This occurs when the NP is booted from power, or when the connection of power mode after about a day of economy since his last connected. Although the network sharing Center sees the network to connect to, but shows only "restricted access". But if the power to the router is recycled, then the connection is established. The driver for the Atheros AR9285 is up-to-date. The firmware of the router is the latest v1.05.

A test ping Google permanently on the NB and a computer that is connected to the router to isolate the problem. Whenever Google is ping successfully, it displays a message and the response time in milliseconds. If the ping fails, the message will be "Ping: transmit failed." General failure. "  It turns out that, while the test on the wired computer worked without a hitch, the NB has shown that at the same time, the internet connection was lost during the time of connection. He then recovered after a few 'pings '. At another time, the internet connection has been lost permanently without recovery, also during the time of connection.

    Anyone has the same problem?

After changing the security mode WPA2 to WEP router wireless, the problem seems to have disappeared. It's been 3 days and the computer can still make the connection to the router. HP support says that HP wireless network adapter works best with the WEP security setting.

  • How can I connect CQ50-210US with Atheros AR5007 wireless?

I used to be able to connect wireless but had problems connecting to a new router (Netgear DGN2200) so I tried to reinstall the driver for the Atheros. It was a bad idea because now I don't see networks wireless at all (I used to be able to view my router secure neighbors even if I couldn't see my Netgear, but now I don't see anything).

When I'm in the wireless and diagnose connection status window perform them, he said: "the NIC"Atheros AR5007 802. ' 11 b / g WiFi Adapter knows driver or hardware related issues. I tried to disable and re-enable the network card (disabled, power off and then restarted the computer and the adapter installed automatically). That did not help. Boot in safe mode with Networking does not work either.

I am running Vista Home Premium.

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.

Disable the Windows Firewall and Firefox does not solve it. But your question about internet protection suites made me wonder if the AVG Antivirus (free version without a firewall) might have been interfering with the driver installation. I removed AVG and then reinstalled the driver Atheros. Bingo! It worked! The computer can see the wireless networks, it can see my new Netgear router now (what I initially tried hard). Thanks to make me suspect other programs interfere. It helped to have someone as a sounding board.

I reinstalled AVG and restarted the firewall and even wireless internet access so all is well now.

    Thank you

Laptops are as you order them or buy them as ready to ship models. They are not generally considered to be extensible to all. You can switch from desktop computers in general as much as the platform of the motherboard and BIOS allow.

Not as far as I know, HP makes no recommendataions on laptops and usb adapters.

Just do a search online with Googl, Bing or your search engine favoriteb for major brands such as ASUS, Linksys and Netgear. Check the reviews of the candidates you find and make sure they include drivers for the operating system that you have in your laptop. NewEgg.com is a good website to csome comparison shopping.

IF you want wifi nextgen features in the usb adapter and the chance to have a router nextgen with 802.11ac capacity of 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz, then looking for the one that many people recommend.

  • 64-bit Windows 7 driver for Atheros AR5007 in dv7-1468nr

I have been in communication with Microsoft and HP technical support both on this issue.

Can we please have a time frame on how long before that we will have a driver for the wireless card that is in this model the actual 64-bit?

I don't want to sound rude here, but Acer has been much easier to get around the problem of driver for windows 7.

Microsoft did confirm this evening that there is no 64-bit for this AR5007 driver and back to HP.

Atheros seems to deal specifically with suppliers more with the support of its prodiucts, as it is my return to HP after six years of absence and the fact that my company is jumping through the hoops for the HP partnership, I would like an honest answer from an employee of HP.

How long before that this driver is available in 64 bits?

Until that time, all of the product is worthless for me as a professional and as a student for the simple reason that when you try to use a suppliant of security required for authentication, the network manager crash when using the measure of 802. 1 x. Microsoft has identified that specifically a driver related issue because there is no driver 64-bit available.

Not to play against each other here, but in my profession and in my studies, I tend to promote these products that seem to work better and where assistance is available. The Acer also contained an Atheros card, but it was changed to use a broadcom driver in Windows 7. No idea why or how, I know that it works and it supports the Cisco PEAP supplicant, which is an important issue with the dv7-1468nr and Windows 7 with the Atheros AR5007 wireless device.

Other related driver issues such as the multimedia remote that might be expected given that windows 7 has not officially released, but when I contacted support on the card reader does not not (another feature that works out of the box on an Acer hardware), I was told basically sorry charlie, good luck. Fortunately, I was able to locate an XP driver for the card reader works. The media remote is a trivial question, but the wireless is a serious problem. If it cannot be resolved within a reasonable time, I fear I will be boxing it up to return to where it was purchased, as defective. the deployment is in a few days...

lets hope that we can really appropriate at this time that drivers.

After three long sessions with Microsoft and a few sessions where I was not very tolerable with the "apology" given for drivers not made available via the website of HP, I was able to refine the exact question to something other than a real driver file.

If the question was not in fact the driver file, it does not change the fact that HP should provide drivers on their website that they will BE supported for all operating systems promoted regardless of the version (Home Basic, premium, professional, ultimate, etc..). It became a problem in my final conversation of a HP technician before they gave me a link to a driver file real 64 bit, of course claim immunity from liability for any damage as a result of the application. The link of this driver is here.

Now for the real root of the problem.

On the new installation, there are several devices that have remained unknown in Device Manager.

Day after day, a lesbianism HP drivers and applications to solve problems.

What was actually the connection magaer crash on trying to manually create a connection by using the Cisco's PEAP Protocol was a corrupt application of Cisco installation. Through the process of trying to repair the installation and actually manually change the registry and remove all traces of the application with Microsoft in the remote session, it was determined that the system had become corrupt and need a fresh 'custom' install.

After installation, using all the HP and Microsoft drivers only, (no application of third party still installed) I have successfully install the 64-bit application Cisco PEAP for 64-bit Vista and create the connection which is required.

To date, there is only one problem with this laptop and I expect a fix from HP for it in the coming days.

The HP MediaSmart application for this machine special 64-bit is always just a touch unstable running Windows 7 Professional.

I hope that it can save someone else the days of frustration I endured everything in trying to solve this problem.
