questions using VCBmounter to back up a windows 2008 VM

Hello

I will have questions using the vcbmounter command to back up a server windows server 2008 R2 Standard VM. I can backup all our servers in 2003 successfully using this command.

If anyone has experienced this? is there something that I need the OS to allow the VCB Proxy Server take backups?

vcbMounter h u Pei m san - one ipaddr: [IP address of the virtual machine] - r t fullvm

Thank you

Amar

Before you go to just update try uninstalling the VMware tools VSS driver. If I remember correctly, I had to do this to make working with W2K8R2 before U1 VCB was released. I don't know if it works, but it could give you at least a backup of consistend of crash.

  • Windows 2008 - what happens if it does not activate in the grace period?

    Hello

I know it is a forum for Vista but everything on the web seems to tell me that way...

In our Organization, we plan on using KMS for activation of our Windows 2008 servers (we have only 2 of them at the moment). However what I read you need at least 5 physical servers Windows 2008 (not the Virtual Machines) before they will start to activate.

My question is: what will happen to the Windows 2008 servers if they do not activate the grace period?

From what I can tell they should keep normal operation (reduced functionality Mode has apparently been removed from Windows 2008) but will be many notifications to activate me now whenever you log on to the server.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Windows 2008 Server R2 Std - issue of Best Practice Analyzer

Windows 2008 Server R2 Std - question BPA
I built a new Windows 2008 R2 Standard Server and configured as a domain controller. When you run the BPA I get the following error, which I can not solve:

    Question:
The default domain controllers policy is not in force on the OR OR = Domain Controllers, DC = WRIGHT.
    Impact:
If the Group Policy settings that are defined in the default domain controllers policy are not applied to domain controllers, Active Directory operations may fail.
    Resolution:
Link the default domain controllers policy to the ORGANIZATION OR unit = Domain Controllers, DC = WRIGHT

The default domain controllers policy is linked to the domain controllers OU. I dun dcdiag and the only failure is NCSecDesc but I don't plan to add an RODC to the forest. When I run the resulting strategy game I can see domain controller policy has been applied.
Is there something I can do to clear this error message?

    Hello Lynn Furlong,

Microsoft Communities is for consumer issues on Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. Your question deals with Windows 2008 Server R2, it would be better to post your question in the forums TechNet for ITPros.
Click on the link here to transfer your question in the Forum Windows Server 2008 Group Policy. They will be better able to meet your group policy do not apply to domain controllers.

  • All possible means for the conversion of P2V Windows 2008 R2 (even with workaround solutions?)

We have several production servers, that we have recently upgraded to Windows 2008 R2, only to discover after the fact that VMWare Converter currently does not support convert a physical machine to a VMWare image. The servers are actually images of Hyper-V, but since there is no way to convert the computer virtual Hyper-V to VMWare, we have always used the P2V conversion with our Windows 2008 Server (not R2) without problem.

Its imperative that we find a way to do this and I was hoping to see if anyone has found any workaround for this problem.

We would prefer not to have to buy another product for that (i.e. using Acronis or Symantec Backup), as one would expect VMWare to support it eventually (even if it is the only option, we will have to examine it). We simply need a workaround solution for us until they do.

    Thanks a bunch!

    Hello.

Have you tried the StarWind V2V Converterfree?

And if not, why it wouldn't work?

Thanks for your comments - I have faith that by the wealth of experience available on this forum, I will finally have my answer...

as of today, Windows 2008 is not a host to vCenter operating system.

  • DNS server error that always brings back us to windows update erros trying to get on the internet

Vista - hate him. I spent hours on the phone with a brand new computer that Toshiba with Vista 64-bit Edition Internet will stop working with the DNS server unknownerror. Sometimes reboot help but with all Windows update he internet is a luxury. Internet connection is perfect, perfect bc other laptops in the House with no problem, router, no viruses etc., computer - fine tooth - comb nothing.

Take each OFF download windows update and work until updates again and then started barking at me, something is missing like its updates! Can't very well what update is screwing the connection or networking or a framework-Silverlight is always suspcious to me also.

My icon for internet splits in two and shows as a #2 without asking confirmation except for a mysterious update. Access: Local and Internet. Symbol of the Internet will be turned off and will not ever look like disconnected until you try to connect.

That's why people are going to Apple. Windows will not help or is somewhere secret and accept just your visa and mastercard and so what still you? Vista I can't update and no security.

Toshiba is not very user-friendly, that is toward the back, they discovered Windows was the question. Isn't our problem, said - even if we're stuck with Vista with their product!

I'd love to hear if someone has SIMILAR problems or if anything that I did not have tried! Thank you very much.

Signed. Never buy new windows - toshiba on my list too.

  • When I used another key to activate the windows, what the key embedded on the motherboard.

I bought a desktop lenovo Lenovo online - usa around 15/02/2015. the machine came with windows 7 pro. installed through windows downgrade rights 8 pro.

but perhaps, I do not open/use the machine until 30/03/2015. After that, I have updated the system by installing updates provided/offered by windows updates.

around 04/03/2015, when I open the computer properties, down to the title of the windows activation, there was this message "remaning 2 days to activate windows.» Activate now»

When I click on activate now. Another dialogue box opens, indicating that the product key entered by me is not valid.

I called mirosoft support, but perhaps, they refused to help me because I don't have the product key. (as long as no key is provided to me by lenovo, but only 8 pro windows recovery media.)

I called lenovo support, but perhaps they also did not help me, according to them, it was a software problem, that only microsoft could solve.

now, I had another death system (samsung) with windows 7 pro, so I used this product key to activate my windows on lenovo.

    My quiries are:

    1. what happens if God for bid, I want to restore my system to its factory state using the recovery partition or recovery media created by me, using backup and restore of lenovo.

    1. What is the status of my windows?

1 b. Will he ask again the activation key?

    2. as I have downgrade rights to windows 8 pro, it is said that the product key is built-in on the motherboard. now when I used another key to activate the windows, what the key embedded on the motherboard.

    3. What is the best possible solution to this question, while I keep the original oem windows?

is not - and never has been - responsibility of MS to pre-installed Windows help, a large part of the price of Windows is the support costs. Manufacturer have always had the responsibility to provide software support for the warranty period. Most interprets this as giving instructions on how to use the recovery media :(

Yes, by using the recovery media should give your system its true status.  It will delete all data and programs, so go back to external media first!

  • I use the 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 from the Satellite on the Qosmio?

    Hello

    I have 2 laptops Toshiba, Qosmio X 300 - 14U and Satellite T130 - 12 K, and my question is:
I use the 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 from the Satellite on the Qosmio?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi frakri,

What drivers tell you exactly? Display, chipset, sound, etc. ?

Theoretically, it should be possible, but it s according to the material. For example if your Qosmio has the same chipset as satellite you can use these drivers. Otherwise it wouldn't work because the hardware is different.
    First, check the features!

In addition, you can get all the drivers here:

  • Cannot print from Internet Explorer 11 using HP LaserJet 200 color on Windows 7

Who would be able to help me?

When I want to print using Internet Explorer 11 on a Windows 7 PC, I can select Preview before printing, but when I actually want to print, it gives the error:

"There was an internal error and Internet Explorer is unable to print this document."

This error only occurs when the 200 HP LaserJet color is selected.

I am able to print on our other HP printers, like the HP Color LaserJet CM4540 multifunction printers.

I am also able to print on a printer using Chrome.

If the problem seems to be related to Internet Explorer 11 in combination with 200 HP LaserJet color.

I tried the 'standard' measures to resolve the issue, such as:

    1. disable Internet Explorer Protected Mode

    2. the value Internet Explorer default browser

3 re-create the missing bass folder and define the level of integrity

    4. start Internet Explorer as an administrator

This does not resolve the issue.

    Please notify. Thanks in advance.

It is a problem with IE 11 on Windows 7 systems with no fix yet against MS.

    The following versions of Microsoft Outlook are fully supported on Windows 7;

    • Outlook 2003
    • Outlook 2007

It is recommended to always update your version of Outlook directly after installation to take care of any question of incompatibility which have been corrected.
