Quickly graduated from first Elements 8 - not suitable for HD - comments?

After some more research today, I think having an idea about what is happening with my system running first Elements 8.

First system Configuation is less than 3 weeks old:

Windows 7-64 bit professional

EVGA X 58 Classified MoBo

CPU i7-950 (no OC'ed)

12 GB Tri-channel RAM (1600)

Graphics NVIDIA Quadro 1800

500 GB logical drive 1 (including 2xOCZ SSD 256 GB SSD in RAID 0)

600GB logical drive 2 (including 2xWD VelociRaptor 10KRPM drive HARD 300 GB in Raid 0)

1.0 TB Physical Drive 3 for the backup of 1 & 2 (including 1 - WD 7200 RPM drive)

I custom configured specifically to run the video processing and photo.  I worked with photos for years and just now to enter full HD 1920 x 1080 video with my Canon 5 d - M2 and new VIXIA HFS100 Cancorder.

My bench is very fast and he's great in Photoshop CS4 managing several images of my Canon 5 d - M2.  Batch processing, resizing, etc. runs like a dream.  In Windows 7 preformance 'Performance index' the ranks of the 7.5 on CPU, System 7.5 on memory and 7.7 e/s disk off the ladder 7.9, the Nvidia Quadro 1800 only rated 6.7 which is disappointing (one else run this performance eval on their Vista or W7 machine?)  I would be interested to know your scores and what video card you are using) I can experiment with OC soon, but so far I have not seen the need.

Being new montage video I wanted to start out slow and and not invest in a professional level of editing until I knew what would be my real needs, so I bought the Premiere Elements 8.0 to get said.  I also when in the course of training complete which is available on LYNDA.COM.  Which is great BTW!  Then to produce an HD video to 'professional' looking for a recent vacation to Napa Valley with images and photos from my Canon 5 dM 2.

Elements 8 is a nice tool and offers lots of features, but just seemed to have throttled down after the creation of about 4 or 5 minutes of 1920 x 1080 video.  Moving around the timeline, the package would hit the disc each time for re - view the video "icon" clips on the timeline.  I found that after about 4 minutes of video on the timeline, whenever I added a new clip, I had to pause and wait for the system to calm down before editing it.  Also once things started to slow down, usually trying to move a clip around the scenario would result in a complete lock-up (just lost an hour of work).   I was also puzzled at why Elements 8 would hit the disc so much when I had 12 GB of RAM just sitting there with more than 7 GB unused.  It of sad because 8 elements has tools and features I want, just don't have the power.

Well (stupid me) Elements 8 is still only a pack of 32-bit and not use any what RAM beyond 4 GB.  This is in itself explains a lot.  To really use my system to the maximum, I will need to upgrade to a 64-bit - professional level package NLE such as Premiere Pro CS4, Sony Vegas Pro 9 or other.  Now, back to the drawing board to reseach packets to determine what is best for my needs.

Experiences with the 64-bit package?  Recommendations?

Thank you
Scott

function() {return A.apply (null, [this] .concat ($A (arguments)))}

After the first Elements 8 startup screen, I select new project, then the settings of my project as NTSC / AVCHD / Full HD 1080i 30.

Ouch, which cannot be good. You use a preset interlaced, progressive video, and an AVCHD preset at that. I don't know exactly what PrE8 offers choices for your sequence, but you really want to use a preset ofp 30 fps in 1080. In the Premiere CS4 I use HDV 1080 p 30, then look and see if PrE8 has it, or you can create one if you have this flexibility in the elements.

  • Problem burning DVDs. "Error in device - device target is not suitable for use.

    Hi all

Initially, I had many problems with PE8. However, the update of nVidia Driver resolved most of them.

Just thought it was important to note the success, but also failure!

However, one problem remains. I get the following error at the level of the mark of 96% when burning. "Error in device - device target is not suitable for use. It is always the mark of 96% and the program is "[something] compilation" when this happens.

After searching this site I noticed that the user rgferg posted a similar problem 13 days ago has been redirected to repost in a different place, but never did.

I tried to burn a clip 1 hour 4 times and each time I chose the slowest burning speed (8 MB/s), as suggested. It seems that the lower support is a culprit, so I bought some Verbatim DVD media - R [quality] try in my optical drive SATA Phillips. I'm skeptical it will work, but nevertheless open-minded. I'll give it a whirl when my computer has stopped capturing VHS, I train.

Whenever combustion not not the disc was ejected automatically and the burn process actually started and progresses maybe about 40% or more.

That tells me it's a question of sharing, rather than issue a support. Somewhere on this forum, he suggested that I go through a process of 20 stages and remove/disable each piece of software that can compete with the first, among other things. IF I do this what do I burn through the outside of Adobe? What I need imgburn or whatever it was called? What happens if I like Nero? Nero 6 has worked very well for me for 3 years.

So I am ready to uninstall my old optical drive burning software, who out there can recommend commercial software which, for them, creates a painless Adobe burning experience without errors or conflicts? Perhaps there is another solution that I've not seen on this forum?

I am running Windows XP SP3. I have the latest nVidia drivers for my cards SLI GeForce 7600 GS. I have 3 monitors. RAID 0 SATA, 2 GB RAM, Athlon X 2 5400.

    Justin.

Since you are apparently able to burn to a folder on your hard drive, but not directly on a DVD, the problem is most likely that another program (Nero, for example) is interfering with communications between Premiere Elements and your DVD burner. This is very common.

Rather than fight with it, the easiest solution is simply to burn your files on your hard drive and then use Nero (or whatever your burner program) to burn the VIDEO_TS folder to a playable disc. This process takes no more time and offers a number of advantages, including the fact that he make several copies of your DVDs very easy.

    Hello

    1. what 16-bit or software program you try to run? Should I use the CD Rom drive?

2 - is the question also appear during the installation of Windows updates?

    3. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

Follow the methods and check them out below:

Method 1: Perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error message, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  • What type of certificates are not suitable for the signature of the extensions to HTML5?

It is not clear to me, of the literature exactly what types of certificate are not suitable for the signature of the CC2014 HTML5 extensions.

I used a Thawte 'Adobe Air' certificate for signing extensions based on Flash. It is now expired. Can I buy the same type and that will work cross-platform for the signature of the extensions to HTML5?

    See http://www.thawte.com/code-signing/content-signing-certificates/adobe-air/index.html

    Thank you

    Hi meeky2,

Required certificates have not changed for HTML5 extensions, so the same type of certificate that you had before work ('Adobe Air' certificates are very good).

Note that if you only distribute your HTML5 extension through modules Adobe / Adobe Exchange, then there is no need to use a paid certificate. If you distribute your extension elsewhere, then you should do the same thing as you did with the extensions of the AIR.

    Best regards

  • Moving files from first elements 8 PC for Premiere pro CS5 for Mac

Hi, I am a new user of Creative Suite CS5 Production Premium on a Mac and I'm trying to open some of my unfinished projects of video from my old computer with Premier Pro. My old computer is a PC and I had been editing HD with first Elements 8 images, but I now have an equipped MacBook Pro which is much more suitable to what I was trying to do on my old computer, and I'd rather finish my projects on my new mac rather than on my old computer.

I exported my workspace for the videos and the file of the elements, I was working on in folders and them moves on my Mac's hard drive. I read that first Pro CS5 automatically converts files of items when they are open, however, I get an error message about how they are files of a PC version of the elements and cannot be opened. My question is, is it possible to convert PC files first elements 8 into something that can be opened on the first Pro CS5 for Mac?

PrE is only available for the PC. Unfortunately, there is no compatibility between PC GER (PREL) and PrPro on a Mac project files.

It was the same with files in project PrPro 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0, because they were PC only and there is no Mac version, up to CS3. The only solution was that could get a friend on a PC with the CS3 version to open/import the PrPro 1.0-2.0 projects inside, let it convert and then make a Save_As. That the resultant project COULD be opened/imported in CS3 Mac. Compatibility is with PrE8 and CS5 - PC.

    Your choice is:

1.) export rough-edited pre on your old PC files and then import those as assets, to finish editing

2.) find a friend with CS5 - PC, import/open these project files PrE who, not a Save_As and then move the files to your Mac project

3.) finishing editing on the PC

Sorry for the bad news, but good luck.

  • Switching from first Elements at first Pro CC

    Hello

Is it easy to upgrade from the first first pro cc items?  I am currently looking for a basic video editor that handles the media well from the point of view of the Organization, but I don't want to pay the cost of the subscription of the cc pro because I don't need most of the features.  If I ever decide I want to upgrade to cc pro, it is easy to do?  Thank you!

    Hi christineo,

The first Elements to Premiere Pro is as simple as getting a subscription. Your work is concerned, you can open your project file first Elements (PREL) in Premiere Pro [Note that it is a Windows Workflow only]

Import of footage, clips and compositions in Premiere Pro

Since you are looking for a basic video editor, I suggest you continue with Premiere Elements.

  • Need Quick Time with first Elements 9?

I just downloaded and installed the trial version of the first Elements 9.  At the end of the installation, a message popped up that Quick Time is needed for some formats (for example, MOV).

However, apparently, Quick Time is therefore more an Adobe product - I can't find it on Adobe's Web site.

    What is the solution?

I ran Preimere Elements 9 without Quicktime installed. PrE9 works fine until I want to import or export to Quicktime formats or use SmartSound Quicktracks.

  • From first Elements 8 to CS5

I have a few questions about the capabilities of CS5 compared to Premiere Elements.  I short-circuit mainly underwater videos and videos about nature, about 2-10 minutes in length.  I am very used to first Elements 8, but would like to upgrade to CS5 because my hardware looks good for him and I would like to try the more professional app.  I want to be sure that CS5 can sort of titles/transitions/scrolling, etc. simple credits that I used to do well in the elements.  I don't want lose functionality by going to the more professional software.  Basically, all I ever use are bland and crossfade transitions between scenes and titles superimposed on video for credits, sometimes a credit scroll at the end.

CS5 do the simple titration/scene transitions/scrolling of credits etc. I'm used in elements or they divide all this off in a separate application such as sequels?

    -Roger Uzun

    Roger,

Yes, and much more. Also, if you go to DVD-video, BD, or will be a dream come true. It of a little more manual, that drafting limited pre, but comes with so much more power, you will never look back, as soon as you become familiar with it.

With respect to Transitions, you will do things almost exactly the same way.

With titles, you have two basic presets: & conduct, where PrE has perhaps a dozen Presets. However, with keyframes, which is much easier to PrPro, you can do whatever you want.

While I have 4 pre, I do 95% of all edition of PrPro, without hesitation. In fact, I like the manual aspect, rather than a bunch of Presets, with less control.

Good luck and just prepare for a slightly different look. Familiarize yourself with him, so that you be comfortable with where things are, what they are called and how they differ from the pre.

    Enjoy,

  • First Elements 14 - publish/share for iPhone

I just first elements 11 who had a choice of device called "mobile phones and readers' and presets slot for Apple iPhone... etc. These presets product suitably small files for use on an iPhone. They are missing in version 14. The smallest available device preset mobile is 1280 x 720 and produces huge files for an iPhone. You can share the settings for a custom preset that you created which produces a file size in the neighborhoof 9000 kb per minute?

1280 x 720 is not at all too big for an iPhone. In fact, it's kind of the ideal size for a mobile device.

As I showed you in my book on Amazon, you a video output for a phone or mobile device using Export & devices part, Mobile Device with HD 1080 or 720 HD resolution. This will produce an optimized MP4.

  • First Elements 8 works correctly for you?

Sorry to beat a horse but I don't want to put an end to a debate that has not been resolved.

I like to keep this reality when I think I know who has problems and what kind of video would be very helpful to support from Adobe who want to help me, they said they would observe the forums and my messages to see what problems I and others have to try to solve them.

I'm not able to edit the videos HD using Genius G-Shot HD520 camcorder, but I am able to edit the SD using Coby Snapp Cam3000 videos.

I can edit videos of two cameras in Windows Movie Maker and Cyberlink PowerDirector.

When I try to edit videos high definition program does not respond even after leaving it for about 1/2 hour.

I have also the program closes does not correctly sometimes even when video editing standard, parts of the program are still ongoing even if windows does not show in the Task Manager. A program called Winpatrol can still see it running and the kernel load watch way too much activity after the program stopped so-called, even an hour later. Happens all the time, not sporadically.

    My system:

AMD athlon 64 X 2 dual core 5000 + @ 3 GHz, card PNY NVIDIA 9800GTX + graphics (driver ver.195.81), gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 mobo, 4 GB of RAM, disk Seagate 7200 RPM sata with 200 + GB freespace, windows vista business 32-bit

Intel core2quad q6600 @ 2.4 Ghz, NVIDIA 8800 GT graphics (driver ver.195.81) zotac, ecs P45t - a mobo, 4 GB RAM, disk Seagate 7200 RPM sata with 300 GB freespace, windows Vista 32-bit premium Edition

Please help me to get useful information gathered to support to lead them in the right direction.

Please, no unnecessary arguments or attempts of resolution of the problems of those who are not running Adobe first Elements 8.

I would like to get reactions of the first Adobe Elements 8 users, others do not.

    1. don't first Adobe Elements 8 work for you with standard videos for simple editing?

2 EP 8 works with high definition video for simple editing?

    3. If you have problems with PE 8 does not properly which they is and how you solved them?

I would get the real problems which are things that the program should do and is not.

Issues such as freezing, not import or export the video or otherwise change a type of video, it's what, in my view, support would hear.

    Thank you.

    Jeff Gedgaud

I also used the Premiere CS4 on the same "optimized" computing, files and projects that I had problems editing with first Elements 8. CS4 does not suffer any negitive PE8 and it makes it much faster. Emphasizing the fact that users tear into their computers and change settings and the code is absurd, most people don't have the skills to make the alterations and why should they have to? Adobe can fix PE8, they simply chose to turn his back on a large number of users and to force us to discover workarounds, fixes and repairs on our own. Many have migrated to the offers made, I doubt after this mess they will return to Adobe in the future.

    Hi a4pilot,

You would not be able to scan double-sided paper 8.5x10.5 format, however, you can make a copy of the document on paper size 8.5 x 11 and then perform scanning two-sided copying.

    I hope this helps!
