R32 reinstall software Windows without reformatting

Is it possible to rebuild the image than the XP software without reformatting the HD and lose all my current data? I'm getting random BSOD that I traced to a certain type of driver, probably HD or display.

I lived about 10 products anti-virus/malware/spyware - squeaky clean and HDD out ok from Lenovo and Seagate.

I hope that you are very familiar with the installation of a normal xp installation routine.

  1. Start the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the BIOS OF THE system for the CD starts before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for the procedure access the BIOS and change the boot order.

    I recently had a very malicious virus attack my computer and it caused a near system failure.  A friend of the family is a certified technician computer and reformatted my computer for free.  However, in doing so, he reinstalled Windows on drive C and it takes all my space now, which puts my computer with low virtual memory running on an almost constant basis.  I have a lot of space on my D and a readers, is it possible to 'move' windows without reformatting everything first?  Thank you!

    A logical drive is a partition. In Windows, separate partitions appear as readers; for example, C: and D:, etc.. If you have only one physical hard disk (which is what it sounds like), then the way you did partitioning was not really helpful. It may make sense to separate the operating system from pure data because if you need to reinstall Windows it will leave your data intact. There is no reason to put programs on a separate partition, since they will have to be installed in all cases after the operating system.

    Look in Control Panel > Classic view > administrative tools > computer management > disk management. This will tell you how many discs hard physical are installed on your computer. It will also show the partitions and dimensions of the readers. If you have a very small (less than 160GB) hard drive, consider purchasing just a bigger. You do a clean install of Windows. If you want to partition the disk during Setup, make two partitions - one for the OS and programs and the other for data. Understand that it is not a backup solution to separate data like this on a single physical hard disk. If the hard disk goes down, so do all the partitions on the disk.

    You cannot simply copy your files from Windows the way you did. You must do a clean installation of Windows to a different partition for Windows. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Reinstall Win XP without reformatting the hard disk

    Hello

    Is it possible to reinstall Win XP on my Equium A60 without having to reformat the HD? The HD currently has only one partition.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hello Mike

    Unfortunately, it is not possible. If you use the whole HARD disk recovery disk will be formatted until the installation begins. If you want to preinstall unit with recovery disk to save all your data on external media such as external HARD drive or burn them on CD or DVD.

    If you wish, you can create two partitions using the installation in expert mode.

  • Is it possible to reinstall Windows without a disk?

    original title: reinstalling Windows without a login

    Hi all

    My brother has changed his password on his computer (Windows Vista Home Basic) and now he don't remember it. He didn't have a password reset disk.

    We tried to make a password reset disk to another computer and try to use it on his, but he failed.

    I read that there is also an administrator account on the computer in safe mode. This has been proven false on his computer, as well.

    Finally I found that if you re-install Windows then it would work. This has not been tried still for reasons given below, hense why I ask here.

    We do not have a Basic Windows installation disc, because we have not improved. It's a phone, too good.

    Is it possible to re - install Windows another way, and if so, how do you do that?

    Please keep in mind that we do NOT have the installation disc, and we can NOT connect to any.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s since the Partition of recovery in case of hard drive failure or System Crash, when you are in service again.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • How to reinstall windows without losing any data on the Satellite A100
    Hello everyone!
    I have a Toshiba Satellite A100 laptop and would like to reinstall Windows. The disc was divided into 2 parts. WinXp Home is installed on the first.
    What happens with the data on the secondary disk if I use the recovery CD? It will be formatted?
    And if this is the case, how can I reinstall winXP Home without losing the data on the second drive?
    You can install the OS on the first partition only and all data saved on the second partition will not be deleted. To do this procedure of departure recovery and after choosing the language button tablecloth call SETUP. It is placed on the right side.
    If I like what you must remember he chose the second option. The first one can be used when you want to create the new partition (DO NOT choose this one).
    Bye and good luck!
    Is to reinstall windows and reformatting the same windows? How can I reformat windows? TQ.
    There are essentially two different methods to "install Windows":
    1. a clean install (which is basically all wipes) imply the shape of the disk (or partition).
    2. a repair install (which is supposed to leave all your programs and data intact) does not imply the formatting.
    You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.
    Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.
  • Reinstall Windows without losing personal files
    I have an external hard drive I have Windows 7 on, but recently it seems to have got some corrupted files because it does not start. It gets past the windows splash screen, and then sits down with a cursor on a black screen. I can move the mouse cursor.
    I think that the best way to solve this problem would be to reinstall all windows files.
    I can plug the hard drive into another computer and view the files of the operating system of the computer.
    In short, what I'm asking if there's a way to reinstall all files in windows without losing all my personal files
    You can perform a custom installation.
    Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
    When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
    Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.
    You will receive the following warning:
    The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.
    (At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK
    The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.
    Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
    You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
