  SATA2 hard drives are downgrade compatible and also executed on computers with SATA1 interface only. So, you can buy a 500 GB HARD drive with SATA2 interface.

  But don t forget that hard drives at 7200 RPM produces more heat and need more power. For games and other applications with large it s ok, otherwise 5400 RPM files would be sufficient.

  I have a Qosmio G50 - 10v. For gesture controller request from the Toshiba.I site, I installed a gesture controller driver tried the English and German version, but for the Quad Core HD processor shows error. The message is

  To my knowledge, the VT can be enabled and disabled only in the BIOS.
  If these parameters is missing or not supported, you will not be able to turn the VT

  The text you posted has nothing to do with the service. If this model of laptop will not be offered for sale it doesn't automatically mean that there are no more service.

  If you have a serious problem with your Qosmio laptop, please contact nearest authorized Toshiba service provider and they will help you fix it. No problem at all.
  Believe me there is no reason to panic.

  As far as I know that any PC with a NIC (Ethernet or Wi - Fi) can become a DLNA device by installing DLNA software. In January 2010 the DLNA started a software certification program.

  As far as I know Toshiba will offer the new application in the future and make it more comfortable to use DLNA. Must be an interface for Windows Media Player.

  For now, you can try to use the standard features of Windows 7 which should be available in Windows media player (supplied with Windows 7) 12.
  To be honest I don't have any other DLNA device and can not test it, but very quickly I want to buy DLNA player Blu - ray with integrated WLAN and want to have access to my PC and watch movies on TV but portable saved on HARD drive.

  So look for some info on the DLNA on Windows media player 12 service and see how it works.

  There is a 2nd HDD bay because in the past, the Qosmio G50 is out with support for different hardware specifications and different hardware parts and obviously 2nd HARD drive Bay does not the HARD drive cable/connectors.

  The Intel ICH9M South Bridge supports 4 integrated controllers serial ATA Host, so the chipset should be able to handle 4 devices SATA (2 x HDD, 1 x ODD, 1 x eSATA).

  I searched on the internet a bit and discovered that the motherboard supports two controllers/connectors.
  The first HARD drive must be connected to the CN1900 connector SATA (23pin) and the 2nd HARD drive must be connected to the CN1920 (20pin). The STRANGE is connected to CN1910 (13pin)

  However, I think that it will not be very easy to update this unit with a 2nd HARD drive all must be dismantled and of course, you need compatible parts for these updates.

  Usually, you should not have serious problems to help to win 8, even if the official drivers from Toshiba are not released for this series of portable.

  Most of the devices would be recognized by Win 8 automatically because the common drivers are part of the system Win 8.

  My Qosmio G50 ran less bright for a few months, then experienced intermittent fault by which logo Qosmio would display on the screen, then on the logo of windows for a fraction of a second, then the screen would be completely obscure. Restart or hit f5 function could resolve the situation. The problem became permanent.   You are right: it is not easy to tell what can be the problem. We can only speculate what part may be defective.
  Just one question: when you start the laptop and try to enter the BIOS settings you see anything on the screen? When you leave for awhile is screen after only a few seconds black too?
