Ram W540 slots

Hello world.

I just bought a W540 with 8 GB of Ram (used location). I want to move to 16 GB. So I bought another compatible 8Gb Ram. In which 4 my W540 slots should I insert my Rams to make them work better?

Thanks, I advanced for your help!

The two top slots is correct.

  • Tecra 8200 does not recognize the RAM in Slot B

Since a few days my Tecra does not recognize the RAM Module in Slot B. Before everything was fine. I have 2x256MB Modules. I was wondering why my Tecra becomes slower, the last days, and then I saw that I have now only 256 MB of RAM. I have change the slot Modules A to B. I checked also the two modules of RAM with MEMCheck. Both are ok! Just at the moment where I put a RAM for Slot B and none in slot A my Tecra won't start! If I insert the two module my Tecra boots but with just 256 MB of RAM.

Is there another solution then buying a new laptop? Is my Mainbord damaged?

I was so contently with my Tecra ;-) so far

The slot B is probably defective. Only solution for me is to buy compatible 512 MB module and use it in A slot. According to specification for laptop, your device can handle with max 512 MB of RAM.

I have a faulty ram (top) slot for a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro 13 "i5.  Can I install a 8 GB Ram in the slot below or is maximally 4 GB?

This was after the 3 beep error and I couldn't restart the Mac with one of the 2 GB of Ram into the lower slot.

Is there a way to test if the top housing is faulty or just dirty?

Yes, the MBP will work with a single module of RAM installed, but there will be a slight performance decrease.  A MBP 2012 will accept a module of 8 GB RAM.

Is there a way to test if the top housing is faulty or just dirty?

Install each RAM module individually in each slot, leaving the other empty.  If the two RAM modules work in a slot and not the other, the slot is faulty.  Sometimes the adjustment screw can resuscitate the slot.  If this is not the case, make an appointment at an Apple store for a FREE evaluation.

    Ciao.

  • M3910 i3 540 3.07 GHz Tower RAM upgrade possible? -Maximum RAM per slot for my model?

    Hello

I ' v has my M3910 i3 540 3.07 GHz for awhile now and I'm very happy with it as a day to day PC, but for some time I get regular crashes and intend to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch. I would like a little more speed so will install SSD and more RAM (3 GB for the moment), but the specs on the RAM available on the web are confusing. I got a 8 GB compatible key available, but it froze the Acer splash screen. I want 16 GB (called max) but settle for 8GB.

Is the limit of RAM per slot 2GB, as argued in the specifications, or I can get 4 GB in each of the 4 slots? Crucial is indicating it takes 1600 RAM, but the specifications say 1333? FYI, my serial number starts: [under the direction of privacy]

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    Your desktop supports up to 16 GB - DDR3 - 1333 MHz (4x4Go 64-bit OS).

    1. Original module:

  • 2 GB of memory ram in slot 1 GB, is it possible?

2 GB of memory ram in slot 1 GB, is it possible?

    Probably not.

I once tried to put a 4 GB module in a location where the specifications say max 2 GB on a HP nc6400 laptop, and it wouldn't start.

Once, I was able to do it in a desktop dc7600 PC.  Care claimed 4 x 1 GB of memory.

2 x 2 GB memory, I installed and it works beautifully.  Just for fun, I had a couple of 1 GB chips and the BIOS reported 6 GB, but windows 7 x 64 reported only 4 GB, which was the maximum that he could take.

Let's put it this way, I wouldn't go out and buy a 2 GB chip and take a chance that it will work.

If you have one, you can borrow, then give it a try. The worst thing that happens probably is that the laptop does not start.

  • Tecra M5 - 1 GB of RAM spare Slot

Hello, can someone tell me if all Tecra M5 which are mentioned as having 1 GB of RAM are delivered with a single stick and therefore allowing the configurable slot available to extend the additional memory.

    Thanks in advance
    MR. S.

    Hello

I put t really believe that someone can give you the answer to your question. As far as I know the market there are two different models Tecra M5 (I assume different graphics card) but I do not know if the two models come with 1 GB of Ram as a single module.

  • Tecra S3 - problems with the new ram in slot B

    Hello
I have a new 2 GB of ram. When I put it in the slot A (location B is empty) it works perfectly. When I put my old ram (1 GB) in the slot B now and try to powerup, I hear beeps: 1 x long and short 4 x. The screen remains black. Do you know what it is?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hello

The beeps mean that the POST (power on self-test) could not be passed correctly.

Your dysfunctions of slit B or the laptop needs 2 modules of memory installed in two slots in order to use the also the second memory location.

But my assumption is that your second slot may be defective.

  • Pavilion HPE h8 - 1360T: Max RAM per slot (4 locations)

    I'm upgrading RAM on my 1-1/2 year old h8 - 1360t.

On the page "Product Specifications and configurable Options" (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c03425388 & DocLang = in & docLocale = en_US & jumpid =... , under Hardware Options - memory, it says "must select one of the following options:...") 16 GB (4 x 4 GB) PC3-12800 DDR3 (PC3-10600 on this system turns)' (the only 16 GB option - maxed out for WIN7 64 bit).

In addition, in the support page "HP Desktop PCs - the upgrade memory (RAM)" (generic - non-specific to any model) (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-HPE-h8-Desktop-PC-series/5258496/model/5261720/docum, under "Verification of the quantity of memory can be added to your computer model", it says "to find the amount of memory per slot, divide the maximum amount of memory that the computer can hold by the number of memory locations of the motherboard. When I check the options of 'Memory' on www.crucial .com, the only 16 GB option it gives is 8GBx2.  Can I do trust what is Crucial says about it (which seems to contradict what the HP options & specifications page)?  I think that the answer is Yes - that HP doesn't care. and options page is just saying how it would come if I had ordered with maxed out at 16 GB RAM - but thought I would ask before ordering memory.

Thank you for responding to this.

I dug a little further on the Crucial site, and it seems that the 8GBx2 actually works:

    Recommended for my computer:

And here's the review of one of the examiners:

The reason, I was a little skeptical about what the HP standard sheet said for the computer I had before this one, HP said a certain maximum size of RAM (below what the operating system should be able to manage).  There was a post on the HP forums who said you could use the larger RAM size (until the operating system can manage) in this model computer.  I tried and it worked fine.

  • HP 15af131dx laptop: How can the 15af131dx be upgraded to 8 GB of ram if slots are not available?

I recently bought a HP 15af131dx laptop.  I read the manual and was led to believe it was expandable up to 8 GB of ram.  I just read an ad that says that the two ram slots are not accessible by the client.  So, how can I bring my laptop?  I already bought a stick of ram to 8 GB of Crucial.

HP 15 - af131dx Notebook PC product specifications and the HP Notebook PC (AMD) / HP 255 G4 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide, , it seems that this model is limited to 1 x 8 or 2 x 4 GB. In both cases, the maximum memory based on the MSG is 8 GB of DDR3L/PC3L, 12800 1600 MHz. In addition, removal/replacement of the module memory is listed as a "procedure for only authorized service providers. There are 56 screws that must be removed, replaced or loosened when the upgrade of the memory of this unit. • Failure of RAM on an Equium P300-16 t slot

    Hello

    I checked the specification for Equium P300 - 16t and I'm confused a little.
According to your laptop can handle with 2 GB max but laptop also comes with 2 x 1 GB of RAM, and it should be 1 GB RAM with PA3512U-1M1G part number.

Can you please tell me what brand are your 1 GB modules?

    All iMac Mid 2010 use modules of PC3 - 10600 1333 MHz SO - DIMM 204 pins.

See > install memory in an iMac - Apple Support

Problem is that the Mac is very picky and not just any PC3-10600 1333 MHz modules will work.

Your best bet is to buy for providers like OWC and Crucial memory modules that specialize iMac RAM.

This means that you install RAM modules while the laptop is running?
I m wondering your laptop still works. Normally, you could destroy the whole motherboard and the module.

Anyway, to me it sounds like that your laptop isn't compatible with the memory modules vive. What modules do you have exactly?
I have good experiences with the Kingston modules.

  • Tecra 8100: memory slot problems

    I have a model tecra 8100 not: PT810L 12 c 42.

I had problem with slot B mem, so collapsed to use it. Then I upgraded my RAM and inserted a 128 Mb TOSHIBA THLY6416G1FG-80 RAM PC100-222-620 slot A and used for a month. Then he suddenly went dead one day and did not boot at all.

I took it to the point of service, they found somehow it work by sticking a piece of paper btw Aries and the cover. I used another week with ram cover duck taped it. Same story, then dead in the middle of winXP, switched off and no boot again. It took to the same service point, they tried some other RAM chipsets that it refused to start.

The interesting thing is; When they inserted a faulty RAM in slot A and non-use slot B we get the message "memory incompatible chipset" on the screen. With the RAM mentioned above in the slot B (problem as always) and the A we get nothing, just a blank screen, DVD slot starts green lit, but nothing.

WHAT SHOULD I DO, PLS HELP

What is the RAM causing problems? What must a chipset that is exactly compatible with the model no pls?
Is it the two locations of memory A or B, their change could solve the problem?

This is the machine he itself, must it be thrown away?

    ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE

    Hello

I n know where you tried to upgrade the memory but as Lisa suggested this was not a serious technician. I changed and upgraded memory on multiple PCs, and you must use 100% compatible modules! You shouldn't t install the modules with a brute force or use strange things as a communication between the housing and the memory module.
Possible slots are damage due to use this procedure. But I hope you're a lucky man and everything will work correctly.

If you n t know which modules are right and taken in charge so you should contact the service partner authorized Toshiba for the right and the upgrade modules.

    Good luck
