Random changes to the power Plan settings

Separated from this thread.

I'm having a similar problem. I have my laptop the value never turn off the screen, never sleep, never stop, but it is up to turn off the display after 20 minutes. Not that it's tremendously life-changing, but I want my settings to be more aggressive. I chose never, never, I want to

Only a program runs with administrative privileges can adjust these settings, so I would like to make sure that your user account control is enabled and monitor everything that requires elevation of privilege.  After you make the changes and click on "Save Changes", go back and make sure that the value is there and monitor when it changes to identify the program that made the change.

  • HP-desktop computer not recognize the power plan settings

    I just bought a HP Pavilion 500 205 t comcputer installed with Win 7 from the factory. The screen kept closed after 1 minute of the hour, I had the computer in place. I went to the Options section supply and changed the settings to NEVER close down/sleep/etc.  The computer continues to go down after 1 minute. I went to the Tech Windows and they had me do a few things, but nothing has worked. The last thing they told me to do was a clean boot I did last night and that didn't work. Then they told me to go to HP now, there was nothing more they could do. I got this computer QA a few days and I'll have nothing more than boredom with him. Anyone who can help me, maybe they had the same problem...

    Thank you

    I called HP Support and they have been extremely helpful. They fixed all my problems. Thank you for your comments and suggestions... I appreciate your answers.

    To be honest I have never heard of this problem.
    Provided your laptop with preinstalled operating system or you use a clean install?

    You need to change the power management Windows (balanced and high-performance, energy-saving)?

    The whole story is a bit strange, and to be honest, Toshiba has nothing to do with it. Two of them are part of the standard options of windows.

    If you're on a Samsung or Sony [he possibly also others], then there is a 'useful' utility, installed by the PC manufacturer that is inhibiting your ability to set power plans.  Quick start to type in the search box of the start menu & if such a utility exists then go ahead & turn it off - there is no unwanted side effects.  It doesn't help that you can't do yourself.

    For the other PC, navigate to the folder of the machine in all programs and search for any similar name - quick start, fast, mess-up-your-power sleep - options.exe, that sort of thing.

    Because the symptoms for the first time by people with this afliction is always - can't change what happens when I change the cover - I think you'll be right as rain when you have disabled the quick start.

    Let me know how you go,

    {I would say, 'Good luck', but you won't need luck.}

  • Bug to stop random, DIFFERENT from the power switch question

    I found a problem that I have yet to isolate the cause of the, but his is happened a few times now.  Sometimes, when my Sansa has updated its database and has not played a song at the moment, if I change the settings and then try to play a song, it starts to play, then cut completely.  It doesn't happen often, but these are the circumstances each time.  The player will not respond and will refuse to power on.  The only way to get on is to hold the power switch until the device resets, release, and then power it turned on, which of course means another data refresh.  Once this is done, my settings are all back to where they were before the last change, I can change their return, and everything works fine.  As I said, the problem don't occur often, only about 3 times since I've had (since June), but its still an obvious problem.  If someone wants to know more about it, or want me to try a few things, let me know.  I'm mainly just let Sandisk people know, then maybe we can get this in a future firmware update.

    New firmware is in the release process now, so hang on until release us the next version.  It can help about this.  Should be within 1-2 weeks.

  • Find child cursors due to changes in the execution plan

    Hi all

    I have a situation to provide the list of execution of the plan for a particular SQL_ID. The particular SQL toggles between 2 paths (FTS and Index scan), but at this point in time, I can see that a single (current) plan_hash_value for instruction. That is to say - the previous cursor gets disabled (due to a statistical series application package which in turn disabled the previous cursor - this is my guess).

    I can get it from dba_hist_sqlstat for the specific SQL, but curious, it is only possible to get it from the dynamic views such as V$ SQL and V$ SQLAREA for a list of all the plan_hash_values for a particular SQL, where the child_number is 0.

    Any idea please?

    Note: I am interested to extract cursors of the child due to the execution of different cursors of the regime and not child created because different settings for the same plan (mode ex-optimizer etc...)

    > is it possible to capture the two dynamic views PHV even if the first cursor is invalidated

    Once it is invalid, it is out!  Is no longer present.

It was intermittent to begin with (1/5 attempts it would power off) but has become more common in recent months, until a month ago I tried I scans a document about 5 times and was unable to complete the scan and had to give up!  Last week, he started random power off and on again when asked don't not to do something.  Today it happened about 5 times consecutively within a period of 3 minutes.  Help!

    It looks like the end of peripheral equipment and you may have to contact HP support for the same.  As a basic step, you can test device with another source of energy as well.

  • Must the product key be changed when the power of a standard installation on several computers?

    I have a standard system install CD, which includes Windows + apps + registry settings on a number of standalone PCs.  I have product keys Windows for all PCs and licenses for all applications.   When I install the system on a new PC, it's the Windows product key for installation that was used for the disk image.   It is legally necessary to change Windows product key than the 'real' key of the PC, or holds the office product key is enough?

    Thank you

    It is legally necessary to change Windows product key than the 'real' key of the PC, or holds the office product key is enough?

    I don't have the good creditials answering a legal question, but I can say my personal opinion.  Since you have all the appropriate product keys you are not hacking software.  From a moral point of view, I think that would be nice.  I'd be worried about updates in case their site reviews you the same product key on each machine.  It could be a red flag that could get the banned key.

  • x 201 display number (random changes to the contrast of the screen)

    I have an x 201 that automatically changes its seemingly random rate of contrast at intervals.  When this happens, the screen washes out and become unreadable for a short period of time (maybe 5 seconds), then back up until the normal contrast setting.

    Does anyone know a fix for this problem?

    I read some other posts about similar behavior, although these people seem to have mislabeled the question as a change in brightness.  This isn't the problem on my machine.  The brightness remains constant while the changes of contrast ratio (i.e., goes to a very low contrast setting, making the screen almost completely a white color broken bland).

    Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

  • Cannot make changes to the parents control settings (Windows 7)

    I've seen several comments regarding this same problem, but so far no solution.

    I am the administrator, but I get an error when I try to access the parent on standard accounts control settings.  Now, what's even weirder, is that I am able to access ONE of the standard accounts, and there is nothing different between this account and others.

    I have tried all the solutions already posted:

    -running 'services.msc' and the implementation of parent controls (which is said by the way, says "this service is a stub for of Windows Parental control feature that existed in Vista", which is strange, it's as if there's no 'Parental control' in Windows 7?);

    -create a new administrator account via the control panel (in the case where my administrator account is corrupt), by restarting and trying to put Parental controls

    -create a new administrator account using the command prompt "net user administrator / Active: Yes";

    -in the course of running "sfc/scannow".

    (By the way, I leave here the 'answer' who said that this question should be asked on the support forum for Windows Live, if you search on this forum, you will find that the 'response' they provide is to ask the question on the Windows support forum.  ;)

    ANY OTHER IDEAS?

    Did you you run regedit as an administrator? It is a common problem in trying just new values. This is done by right-clicking on the program and selecting "Run as Administrator". This allows you to write new values.

    If you would like more information on this subject by me, read the last post on page 3 here:
    If you have recently encountered this problem, I would recommend a system restore, and I explain the reasons in the tread above.
    I hope this helps!
  • Satellite P300 - randomly turns off the power when connected to the external monitor

    Hello

    I have a Satellite P300, Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 512 MB, running Windows 7 ultimate x 64.

    Recently, I bought an AOC v22 led screen and connect my conputer via HDMI. Everything works fine, but sometimes my computer off just randomly. I might have something to do with my computer overheating, so I clean the fan, but this was not good.

    I think it has something to do with the LED screen because my computer was never off his own.

    Hello

    So this also happens if you n t connect laptop to external display? So, you can determine what is causing this problem.

    If the computer laptop doesn t turn off without external monitor, you should try to update the BIOS and the display driver. Two updates that you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

    You close the lid if you have connected the external monitor?
    What operating system do you use?

    In addition, it would be interesting to know how you clean the laptop. That's why I use the jet of compressed air that can blow the dust from the cooling fans and you don't have to disassemble the laptop.

    Good bye
