Re: 32BL702B refuses to play AVI files

Hi all

We just bought a 32 inch LED 32BL702B TV and while we are generally very happy with it, we would like to play AVI files via the USB port. We had initially received a model 32BV702B TV by mistake by the shop we ordered some and did not notice for a day or two (not really seen the TV) it was the LCD instead of the LED model.

We used the USB to play some opinions and it was fine.
We returned this model because it was lower (so we thought) to get one we ordered.

I tried the same USB and the same files, but each would not play.
It seems that he thinks that the file format is not recognized.
Addressing Toshiba technical support (and explaining the above) resulted in the following suggestions:

-Your TV does not support videos via USB (I had to explain where in the manual, it says it does!)
-all TVs are different
-You must have encoded the bad opinion / in a codec not supported
-You need to re - encode in a different format
-You can try to update the firmware

MPG files (encoded in MPEG1/2) seem to work file. JPEG & MP3s work also.

I frankly don't want to have to re - encode all my AVI to MPG files and therefore seeks an alternative if possible. As far as I can see there is no firmware update for this TV, at least none I could find.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful, if it goes back to the shop.

Thanks - Robbo

In the manual under the C run-> File Formats supported for USB mode, you can find info.

The Media Player supports movies with the .avi extension, but the video format must be:
MPEG2 or 1.00 Xvid, Xvid 1.01, 1.02 Xvid, Xvid 1.03 or Xvid 1.10 - beta1/2
In addition, the Audio Layer should be PCM

Resolution rates and few avi files must be: max @30 1920 x 1080 p 20 Mbps

If you must make sure that all the avi files meets these requirements

  • Media Player cannot play .avi files

I saw this forum topic music & sounds, but thought it would be a better place to discuss.
My Media Player under Win XP (with Realplayer) will not play .avi files. It will play sound but not video. This problem seems to be common to other non-Microsoft forums. On these forums some say get a pack of codecs, some say not, others say it will be such a huge pain to the difficulty I should just download a different type of player. I hope someone has a concrete answer.

    Thank you!

John, thanks for the levant all these links, etc for me! I tried GSpot, but all he would say is 'unable to make the video' and nothing else - without mistakes, tips, nothing. I tried to look for something on this result on google, but there are so many references to video rendering GSpot it may take some real effort to find something on my specific problem. I'll try the codec pack you suggested, but I don't know if I need to remove the pack if it doesent help, or just leave them as what.
I'll let you know how it goes.

    Hello Jorstar1,

Thank you for your message.  Windows Media Player 11 supports .avi, but compression can dictate whether he will play or not.  This is very probably a Codec issue, you can perform a websearch for a Codec that will play any avi compression.
Please let us know if it did or did not help to resolve this problem.

For some reason, win Media Player does not play the avi. files, while files can be run in Gom or Quicktime player. the files are not corrupt, just win media player is the problem. Hi ijudge,

Welcome to the Microsoft answers community site.

Option 1: Change the default to player. AVI files. Follow the steps in the link to find out how to change that uses default Windows programs and Windows Media Player as default for. AVI files.

    Option 2: Download updated Codec

If the problem persists probably you try to play a file that uses a codec that is corrupt. When you try to play a file that uses a codec that is not on your computer, the Player tries to download the codec from a Microsoft server. If the codec is available, the player installed on your computer, and then bed file. If the codec is not available on the server (for example, because the codec has not been created by Microsoft), the player displays a message stating that your computer is missing a codec.

If you are connected to the Internet, the message is usually a help button on the Web you can click for more information. If the player can determine which codec you are missing, when you click this button, a help topic is displayed and contains a link to WMPlugins.com, a Web site that lists a number of codecs that are available for download. DivX and MPEG-2 video codecs and audio ACELP.net and Ogg Vorbis codecs are examples of codecs that are not included in the operating system or the default player.

  • Windows Media Player cannot play .avi files

    OT: Windows Media Player 12

I have Media Player 12 and it plays music very well, but I have no sound when I play a video (AVI format). I can play the same video on Quick Time player and I have the sound, then it is not the video file. Any suggestion to fix Media Player 12?

    Hello mikemonte1450,

    1. where did you get the .avi file did you download it or save it?

    2. this happens to you with the particular .avi file or all the avi files?

    3. do you have an error when you try to read the avil files on your computer?

Windows Media Player supports the format of .avi file and you should be able to play. It seems to me that there is no available codecs to read the file format, you are trying to read. I suggest that you check the type of file you are playing, you should be able to understand this by checking the file extension.

    a. right click on the file and click Properties, under file format, you should be able to find the file type.

  • Windows Media player 12 will not play .avi files

    Original title: Media Player 12

I have WMP12 on my windows 7 and never had a problem 2 days ago. Now I can't play video files, it seems to be only the .avi files. When I click on it I get a message saying that windows media player has stopped working and is looking for a solution. Some of these files, I had some time and always played using WMP12 without problems. It will play everything, MP4, MP3, audio books simply not excerpts from movies avi, I looked for updates, codec & addons, nothing helps, any suggestions

I already have VLC that I use for the .mkv files, but I prefer WMP it has better quality image and sound. I downloaded the codecs from the link you gave me, (Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2013-08-01) and installed it. Yay it worked. Thank you very much

  • Windows Media Player for Vista, does not play my avi files and says he has a codec error?

Came across this problem trying to put an AVI in powerpoint presentation for the school. I don't know how this happened or how to fix the error. The error indicates that windows media player is not the right codec to play the video. However, when I sent it myself and opend it upwards on another computer, which doesn't have powerpoint, it plays very well.

I did some research as to what a codec for windows media player, that's what code and decodes the video compression. However, when I tried to download the appropriate codec file, there is nothing. Not even useful workaround solutions.

In addition, went and downloaded quicktime and it could not read the video either.

Any help or ideas would be greatly apreciated. Thank you!

    Hi DaisyReaper,

Are you able to play .avi files?

You can use your favorite search engine to download and install the latest codec for Windows Media Player. Subsequently, check if you are able to read .avi files.

Note: Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • I can't read the avi file

    I can't play avi files.

Error message from WMP: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.
KM Player error message: number combination of filters could be found to make the stream (error Num:80040218).

I tried all the codecs, directshow, directx, service packs, updates, as many players but still nothing.
Microsoft article isn't good, because apparently you can't reinstall WMP on Vista.  All this happened after I made the recovery of the Dell system.

It may be interesting to try to rename the file .avi
to .mpg... believe it or not... sometimes it works.

If this is a XviD file... you may need
    the XviD codec.

This can be checked by using the free software GSpot:

    Download GSpot

    (left-click the text: "Download GSpot")
    (on the next screen...

  • Reading CCTV software .avi files prob

When I try and play .avi files saved on my hard drive to my DVR card/software version 11.0.6002.18311 for Windows Media Player (or any other player besides), I can see and hear, but there is a very important, continuous, loud, popping noise all the time. What can I do to fix this? I have Vista Home Premium, nVidia GeForce 9500 GS graphics, Realtek sound card, (I think?), and the 8-Channel DVR card (which I only use 3) card PCI PC CCTV DVR H.264 100 fps.

Hello and thanks for this info, but I had already looked at and have no idea of what I need or what I already have, much less know what would be safe to download even if I could work on what I need - all that I know is that I have the latest version of Windows Media Player!

It's only the .avi files by the DVR card software that won't play properly - all other .avi files play fine. So today I contacted the software support team card and explains the problem and their response is that they are now aware that there is a problem with the playback of files in WMP and are trying to put that right. Apparently, they send me an update as soon as POSSIBLE. We'll see!

Thanks a lot for your answer anyway. I do not know others with a similar problem will find useful.

    Kind regards

  • Toshiba 48L1433DB Led TV will not play Avi USB files

    Hello
As stated above, my new TV initially played the Avi video files from a USB Pendrive with no problems. Now, he tells the Avi files are not supported and will not play them. I tried the two USB Slots, same problem.
The USB plays fine on my PC.

I tried to update the software, but it has not finished searching. My TV is NOT connected to the internet, and I don't know how to upgrade the firmware? or how tr again update any software. I have no manual at the present time.

Thanks for any help, keep it simple please.

I found some interesting details in the user's Manual: Please see page 40
Formats of files supported for USB Mode
    http://www.Toshiba-OM.NET/PDF/manuals/LCDTV/English/Country_Specific/L1433-48-English-specific.PDF

You will find the audio and video codec supported.

Please note that it s not enough to use supported like mpg, mkv or avi file extension
As already mentioned by user above; You must use supported codec.

  • 500 GB StorE TV plays is not some AVI files

    Hoping someone can help please!

I recently bought a store TV 500 GB here in South Africa.

The device works perfectly on AV and HDMI, am very happy with it. Except some AVI files that I have that I can play on my PC/Laptop do not play on the TV via the HDMI or AV connection store?

I guess that the AVI files do not match the specifications of the store? If I convert to MP4, what are the best settings, size, encoding format etc. should I use? I use a program called Handbbrake.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

There are of course not so many people with a lot of experiences about 500 GB StorE TV so I think that you have to experiment on your own.

Try to convert these files in other formats supported to see how it will work.
Of course, it will be nice if you can post comments to other users. All information can be useful to the forum community.
