  After I restarted my computer about 7 times it finally started, so for me to be able to write this message.  However, this problem occurred several times over the last week or two.   P.S. I ran a diagnostic and all past test except the bootable disc.  But for some reason when I restart a little more time it get passed my system and begins running.

  In my view, there is nothing you can do to repair the drive except to replace it.

  You can run the checkdisk utility and check both boxes.

  Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand that you had a type "no boot drive has been detected" error at startup to the top, and you have replaced the hard drive and have the same problem. I'm happy to help you with this.

  If replace you the original hard disk, you can use the following to test the hard drive. It is possible, there was a connectivity issue and just re-allocation of places the hard drive could make a difference. Computers HP - display of error HDD before starting the computer

  The most recent hard disk you put in, if not there was no operating system installed, you'll get the same type of message. You could make the same diagnosis of HDD from the link above, just to make sure that the disc is good.

  Please let me know the results, but so just install the original in the system hard disk works, and it starts correctly, so please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

The problem occurred after a kernel patch and reboot linux security (I'm under Ubuntu 14.04 and I'm on Linux 3.13.0 - 100-generic). Initially, the machine would crash when starting in the BONE, but I managed to do always start too.

  and what it connects too. Crack, "a fatal bus was detected on an element at location 1." seems too vague. What is slot 1 in this case?

  My questions are:

  What components apply to critical errors?

  I have to do things in the following order:

  -Unplug the power cord and hold it for 20 seconds
  -Firmware updates
  -Try reinstalling components
  -Replace parts

  Location 1 must reference slot PCie 1. It is very likely the slot in which the PERC controller is. Your order of troubleshooting is correct. If it's the only occurrence, resettlement and the firmware update are probably enough.

  It has been my experience in the past that a message as this means that either the operating system is corrupt or your hard drive is dead. If your hard drive does not show in the boot order, it's a major sign of a bad HD, but not100%.  There are several free testers HD. Most have the back, which means that you don't have to have an operating system to start their. If you are not able to test your HD with F2 or F11 functions, try one of them. You will need to burn an ISO to a CD file.

  Bought two portable Satellite L40 - 14N as Christmas gifts and one of them does not connect to the wireless router.

  The wireless network appears in the list of networks available with a strong signal. Notepad attempts to connect but the error 'wireless link failed for an unknown reason. " Made a comparison with the other laptop that works very well and the configurations appear to be identical!

  Because the graphics card is hollow connected the AGP bus it must be another problem because if AGP is not active then windows would not be able to start up.

  Which game you play? I recommend you do the following things:

  -update your entire operating system (windows update)

  My Satellite L40 - 14N sometimes won't start when the power cord is not connected. It starts ok but when I get to the Windows screen drops colored that keep moving from left to right and the machine will not get one more no matter how much time is left.
