2. I tried to recover with the recovery cd received the error

Reinstall the hard drive in the laptop.  Scroll down on this page and get > Bootable CD ISO and > ImgBurn to burn the iso image to cd, a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here. Once created, boot from it. Delete hard drive partitions, create and format. Then try to start recovery again.

Also, IF I get a new hard drive, (it has the old type ribbon cable, & are hard to find) can I use the XP disc that was sent with my Toshiba laptop to re - install the system?

    Thanks for your help, John

Just to clearify abit.  As long as the computer works OK, so this isn't yet quite desperate, but if to perform recovery because he had problems, it can be a problem.  The motherboard can support the SATA drives, if this is what is wanted, BUT it may be a little harder to get the installed operating system.  Speaking of the BONE, the question "can I use the XP disc that was sent with my laptop Toshiba to re - install the system?  The answer is no, however there should be recovery set to the PC.  If they are missing or never did, then order a set from here: http://www.computersurgeons.com/SearchProducts.aspx?sbt=SR1800NX&bkm=Results#Results

We can use an older style to match the one mentioned in the post, but it would probably be used or renovated a disk such as: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&N=-1&isNodeId=1&Description=IDE+internal+hard+drive&x=0&y=0

If you click on tools > Options > advanced > maintenance > store folder, you should see where WLM is keeping sound files using now.  Navigate to this folder and then go up from there and after a few clicks you should see another folder that will contain the previous files, if they exist.  If you see any other folder, then they probably disappeared.

Is this a problem with the connection of harrdisk to the motherboard or with the hard drive itself?

    Hello

Yes, you can use your friend recovery media in your. It should work.

I'm not able to find a recovery media for your model of third-party vendors too.

No, you can't create USB recovery by plugging the old drive as external references to another PC. You have to use HP application recovery manager supplied with your laptop and create a set. I think that you will not be able to do from a failing drive.

Hi Wally, the hard disk OS X and all of your files. Get a case for your reader, and it backs up. Try OWC

Always keep your Mac backed up on an external drive with Time Machine or utility of cloning like SuperDuperor double clone.

    Try eBay for the adapter.

Hi, I want to migrate thousands of images of Aperture library 3.6 to Lightroom and when I double click on Aperture App it won't open. I'm on OSX Yosemite 10.10.5 and I keep the nearly 200 gigabytes of photos on a separate hard drive so I can get more old photos looking at the content of the package and by copying and pasting in a recovery file, but it will be painful and very long. What do you suggest me? I thought that Aperture 3.6 was supposed to open at Yosemite or El Capitan? Thank you bripoppamac44

What is the largest hard drive that will work in a HP Pavilion dv6324us laptop?

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01035677.PDF

Support for HARD drives and capacities are listed in Chapter 3, page 3-25.

Personally, I think you could install a SATA II 320 GB to your laptop.  Maybe even a 500 GB.

You could also probably install a drive of 7 200 rpm for better performance or if the battery life between charges is more important for you, then stick with a disk of 5 400 rpm.

I do not use homegroups, but 'true' to share, so I don't know how this is supposed to work with homegroups. But usually he should share a drive or folder, first before you can access it from another machine. (for example, click on the drive/folder properties and go to the sharing tab)

I hope I am posting this on the forum,

I want to delete a partition on my hard drive that was originally set up by the manufacturer as a backup drive hard to label.

I went into computer management console & know that the primary partition - drive C system, boot, pagefile, active lists, dump incident & main partition in brackets but I don't know about the virtual memory paging file. No, there is some data on it. I've been saving the other partition - C drive on an external hard drive.

I know that I have to back up this data but where I should come back to? And why is it called (Primary Partition) when it is used only as a return to the top by car?

    Hello

D: is not a partition backup of your machine.

Acer has a time set up their machines to the way yours is:

They had a C: drive for the operating system, a drive D: for data (music, movies, etc you would like to register and a recovery partition 'hidden' to reinstall the operating system and to make the recovery discs to do the same thing.)

You can merge C: and D: as a whole, BUT save all data on D: first because it will be deleted when you merge.

"How delete and extend a Partition with Vista disk management"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/95418-disk-management-delete-extend.html

And YES, you back up the data on an external hard drive in case of hard drive failure, the corruption of the system, etc.

    See you soon.
