Re-install Windows 8 with integrated product key.

Original title: pre-installed windows product key.

I had my laptop (Dell) with pre-installed Windows 8 months ago. Now I want to reinstall windows because there is a problem with the operating system and the need of the product key. But, I'm not, I just find the ID of the product instead.

I already looked on this issue in the Dell Web site, said that: for Windows 8, the product key is 'fed' on the computer at the factory and the installation process and activation motherboard refer to the computer's BIOS to check authenticity and activate Windows. No Windows product key is also provided or required by the customer

Thanks in advance!

Your answer is in your question.  If you perform a clean installation, it will automatically find your key from the BIOS and you won't need to enter.

However, if you want to extract, you can use the program free belarc advisor .

Floppy disks to install Windows 7 and the product keys are exclusive to each other?  Or can I use a disc that I have to restore the windows on a second laptop and activate it with a different product key?  It is not a question to find out how many users I can put in place, but whether the disk and product key are mutually exclusive.

As long as the product key matches the edition, it should work perfectly, no exclusivity.

  • I can't download windows 7 with my product key

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I had a SONY laptop model: SVS131A12W with build-in Windows 7 Home Prem OA. Unfortunately, I formatted my drive hard all. So I lost the recovered Windows partition, I can't restore to original Windows 7 (version in).

I have the product key, I try to download from the MS Site, I received the message "error: the product key you have entered seems to be for software pre-installed by the manufacturer of the device." Contact the manufacturer of the device for soft recovery option. Is it possible for me to download the windows with the product key to reinstall my laptop?

    Best regards

  • How to install windows 8 using an product key OEM (under construction)

Hello everyone. I bought a computer laptop sony vaio about a year ago and he had 8 integrated windows which clrealy means that the product key is embedded in the motherboard. Now the thing is I want to dual boot with ubuntu and use it alongside windows 8.1 (that I've updated 8) and the ubuntu installation went a little worse. When I went to reinstall I erased by mistake my hard drive and all I was left with was an operating system reinstalled ubuntu.  Now I know that the product key for the windows kernel 8 is in my motherboard, so I want to install windows 8 on it, but it seems that there is no way I can get the iso standard for installation. I tried to use the 'upgrade of windows with a single product key' by Microsoft after the extraction of my key by using a program, but it says my key cannot be used to obtain a version of windows.

Im stuck pretty bad here now, and any help would be appreciated. -There should be a solution because after all I don't have a genuine product key-

As you probably know, most of the machines are supplied with recovery disks more, they just put in another partition on the hard drive.  Sometimes, you can get this in now shift while clicking the option restart from the menu of the power.

Given that, most of the manufacturers have prepared with their own solutions. My computer Vaio from Sony has a button of special pinhole that I had to press with a paper clip to enter into recovery mode.  Other manufacturers have other options, some require a USB thumbdrive to enter recovery, or a CD.

At this point, you probably want to contact your manufacturer to find out which method of recovery they use.  I hate to bring bad news, but they'll probably say "why did not a recovery USB disk? (as if someone creates their own set of disks of repair when they receive a new computer).

Help a friend with a Dell laptop (did not have a problem, but wanted to install a pure one)

passing), Dell sent us a free night FedEx ship from a restore CD. The manufacturer of your can be so nice. I know that Sony was not. If the recovery of my Vaio button didn't work, they wanted $60 for a CD!

Anyway, the manufacturer is your best bet, that now, if you don't have a USB self made for recovery.

There are a few problems with previous Windows 8 and 8.1 media. Can you check your editing in system properties, and then download Windows 8.1 with update 1 as a .iso and create installation media?

  • can't activate windows xp with the product key that came with the computer

I got a computer of 510N HP Pavilion from a friend who was absolutely riddled with viruses and malware of all kinds.  Every thing I did to clarify apparently nowhere got done or made it worse.  At the end of the day, the computer would only begin to restart, stop after the start of the HP logo screen, then start to boot, etc and more.  All I could do was to install the hard drive in another computer and format, from scratch.  Now, I'm trying to install the system to XP op for the disc that came with the computer.
the problem: the code the product key on the case went wrong with the disc.  After searching for solutions, I found a code on the disk by searching the files it contains, tried and it worked!  Problem is when I try to turn it on, it says it's an "unauthorized product key."  I tried to enter that code on the box and who says he is "invalid".  The Cd look authentic; are for distribution with new pc HP and Compaq.  After a further inspection drives are XP Professional SP2, while if it is XP Home Edition.  What gives?  Activation does not anyway. It is any use that will not make me buy a new set of disks?

Please let me know if more info or detail is necessary.

PS - only a single piece of hardware has been changed - the cdrom initially provided with the computer was bad, so I went out to perform the installation.

When you perform a restore to the factory on some HPs condition you have two choices: 1) a restoration which keeps your data and programs (in a repair installation); (2) a full destructive restore which brings back the machine to the State, it's when you first opened the box. In your case, you have already wiped the drive, so the question is moot. I would call the HP technical support. Normally when you use an OEM recovery media (HP, Dell, etc.) a product key is never required during the restore. If you have used the media to restore HP shipped with your system and are always asked for a key and one on the sticker machine is not accepted, then something is certainly. • How to install Windows 8 without a product key?

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to wipe my hard drive including Windows 8.

I don't physically have the product key that Windows 8 has come pre-installed. If I am not mistaken, the product key is embedded in the BIOS.

    So, my question is this...

How do I install Windows 8 and use my old product key?

    You are right.

    So, my question is this...

You follow the manufacturer's instructions for use the recovery partition
on your hard drive. But if you completely erased the hard disk drive, which
partition disappeared, and you're out of luck. Contact the manufacturer.

    Vista Windows

There are three ways to correct this
    (1) back to the original installation - assuming that the one who did the installation just ran the upgrade rather than a custom installation (is there a "windows.old. This folder?)
    (2) buy a copy of Windows 7, which corresponds to the current installation and use the key from that to make your authentic system
    (3) use your manufacturer to return to the initial installation system recovery disks.

Note that options 1 and 3 can lead to data loss - so make sure that you back up your data on external backup first!

  • Windows XP Pro SP2 re - install does not accept the product key.

I'm trying to re - use the product key on the sticker from the bottom of the laptop.  This is the same computer that was working fine until I decided to reinstall, but I use a different installation media because the laptop (a refurb) never came with the media.  Can I call MS and get it re-authorized?  I have XP Pro SP2 and XP Pro SP3 Reacondicionador media.

You try to install Windows XP with OEM product key you have on your COA sticker. So be sure that you have a generic Windows XP OEM CD, because VLK or Retail CD does not accept the OEM product key.

  • Is it possible for me to install Local DVD retailer with the product key?

Original title: lost my product key.

    Hello everyone.

2 years ago, I bought a Podium with a PC attached from a local retailer. He gave me a Windows 7 Pro Sp1 32 - Bit DSP OEI DVD 611 and the Podium and Win 7 was already installed on it. I have not found any key on or in the DVD box. No sticker on the PC or the Podium. He charged me $ 175, I'm from India up to 10 200 /-rupees for the DVD. Now I have to install this DVD on the Podium, or at least on my laptop. Is it possible for me to install this DVD with the product key or what should I do?

    Thank you.

MS sells more than winxp or win7, you will only be able to buy peoples who have old stock or used, and it easily gives a copies pirated / illegal.

The keys are not sold on their own, but only with the installation media.
