Re: Qosmio G30-129 supports 8 GB of RAM?

Hello
I have a Qosmio G30-219, will support the 2 x 4 GB - SO DIMM 200 pin - DDR2 (667 MHz)?

The reason I ask is the spec. Tech. States 4 Gig of RAM and 533 MHz max, I just wondered if it would work :-) (given that the spec was probably written long before the 4 GB RAM-chips were available).

Hello!

Two modules of memory can be installed to provide a maximum of 4 GB.
Up to 8GB are not possible on this laptop.

Good bye

    Hello

As far as I know the HARD Qosmio G30-194 disk controller supports single SATA (150mbps).
I put t know what specification is the SSD needs, but for example s SATA2 HARD disk can be used because the SATA is compatible.

However, if the SSD to the SATA2 controller (300mbps) while there might be a problem

  • Qosmio G30 (PQG32C) - support for the memory of the 3.90 BIOS

    Hello

I wonder what type of memory can handle my Toshiba with the new BIOS 3.90. Repair said I can put DDRII 533 and 667 MHz only. My new BIOS will manage with DDRII 800 MHz or 1066 MHz? Description of the BIOS says nothing.

Exactly what are the models of memory you prefer for G30 (GoodRAM, Kingston, G.Skill, Kingmax, Samsung, Hynix, Patriot)?

    Hello

Update BIOS doesn t affect the handling of the RAM modules. This will be controlled by the chipset and motherboard and the new BIOS doesn t support newer or other RAM modules.

On the different modules of RAM I have good experience with the modules of Kingston. This module s high-quality and is compatible with most laptops. I never had a problem with them.

  • Upgrade HDD/SSD on Qosmio G30-126

I'm trying to decide if I should upgrade existing at a larger size HARD drive or just a large and an SSD.

Question 1: what is the size for the two new HARD drives because the power supply is limited?
Question2: For now, I run the two HARD a disc, so no RAID. Is it possible that I can determine what is on which drive? I do not envy the dumping everything on a drive connected and then import the new HARD disk.
Question3: Is there a substantial improvement in speed when using the SSD as a HARD drive? I run W7 professional and compared to Mint example startup is pathetically slow.

    Appreciate answers or suggestions.

    Hello

Qosmio G30 already supports SATA interface and so general, interface SATA has no capacity limit. If you can install a SATA 2.5 HARD drive with all the sizes. Ore of 500 GB drives is no problem on SATA interface so it s on applications and data based on what size you want / need.

If your laptop is capable of managing 2 hard/SSD drives, you can buy an SSD 128GB for example for Windows and your applications and a HDD (500 GB) for your data.

Disc SSD is faster than hard drives, but they are more expensive. SSD are perfect for the OS itself and programs but for data such as photos, music, etc. Hard drives are fast enough.

  • BSOD appears on Qosmio G30 during the recovery procedure

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30 and I want to format it and return to the out-of-the-box state...
Unfortunately came with the laptop recovery CD doesn't seem to work...

Whenever I try to boot from the DVD, it says "windows is loading files" and once this is done, it shows me the so-called "blue screen of death"...
Is it possible that I can get another CD or make this work?

Or remove RAID protection or anything that prevents me to install a fresh Windows VistaMD?

    Hello

Of course, it of possible to order a new recovery CD, but I doubt that this problem could be related to a faulty recovery CD. But this is only my personal opinion and everything is possible.

You have a clean Windows operating system?
If so, try to boot from your original Windows CD and try to reinstall the operating system.

The Qosmio G30 laptop supports RAID and you need to include the RAID driver by pressing the F6 key during the Windows Setup process.
I think it would be useful to know if an installation of the OS to another CD is possible.

Second question; have you changed the RAID settings in the BIOS?

  • Qosmio G30-126 (PQG32E) - very slow performance of HARD drive

I have improved my Qosmio G30 126 at 4 GB of Ram, SSD 64 HDD as windows7 boot partition and 500 GB 7200 64cache HARD drive as drive HARD secondary but I have a very slow HARD drive performance when working in windows7, but when I work on a virtual machine Windows XP, the disk HARD perforemance is fine.

I've upgraded all drivers from toshiba.com for windows7 ultimate 32-bit drivers including drivers from the chipset intel but my problem is not solved. I also check all other performance issues and its OK.

The same problem exsists on my old HARD drive on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit.

I used HD tune software to check my HARD drive it accelerates gives about 100bps in windows 7 for my SSD and it gives 285mbps (this is the actual read speed) in the machine virtual Windows XP and the actual speed is significantly different.

Please tell me what to do because I suffer from my laptop very slow and spend a lot of mony on it without more.

    Hello

To be honest it is really hard to tell why you have slow HARD drive performance but especially it s associated with a large number of programs they are running in the background. How many processes are started after Windows starts?

Also, the antivirus program may affect the performance of the computer. I would recommend using the AntiVir freeware tool and the Windows Firewall. That's enough if keep you Windows up-to-date and use a new Internet browser.

Also check the other discussions of the forum on the slow performance. You can find a lot of useful tips to improve performance. For example:
    -Defragment HARD drive
-Disable the startup programs you don't need
    -Uninstall unnecessary programs
-Run the CCleaner tool to remove old registry keys

As far as I know the RAID options are offered on laptops with preinstalled Toshiba RAID Utility.
With this tool, you can choose between two options:
    -RAID 0 stripping
    -mirroring RAID 1

I'm not 100% sure but I think that Toshiba do not offer this tool for Qosmio G40 and I'm afraid that's not possible on your laptop.
This tool is preinstalled on your computer?

    Hello

Why you n t visit the Adobe page and see for yourself
On the Adobe page, you will find info on all the need of hardware requirements.

But to be honest, the Qosmio G30 is a powerful machine and strong performance.
I think that it s not a problem of performance of the material, but maybe some software issue

Maybe you should try to read downloaded using another player movie files.

No, the graphics card can not be upgraded

What you can do, it is memory and the upgrade of the HARD drive. This should be very easy and should cause no serious problems.

    Upgrading CPU is little tricky.

    Hi again,

How will I know if my old Qosmio G30-198 is compatible with win 7 64 bit? I think that there are some not compatible microprocessors.

    Thank you

    Hello

    As I m not wrong, G30-198 supports the Intel® Core 2 Duo T7200 processor

According to the Intel page http://ark.intel.com/products/27255/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T7200 this processor supports 64-bit architecture
So you shouldn't have trouble to install a 64-bit system

  • Update hardware and software Qosmio G30-198 for hight performance

    Hello

    I have a Qosmio G30-198.

I have to use Autodesk Civil 3D program in the laptop.
This is a CAD program that requires a lot of ram and a transmission of data high-speed HARD drive.
To do this, it is absolutely necessary to update hardware and software for civil use with good performance.

I need to buy and install HDD SSD, install more RAM (which is the maximum allowed in this computer?) and I need to install Win 7 Professional 64 bit.

    Please,

If anyone can tell me how I can further improve the performance of the laptop, please tell me.
I don't know what steps I need to keep.

    Can you help me?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

The RAM can be expanded up to 4 GB
As far as I know this laptop supports the Intel® 945 PM Express chipset and supports this chipset may 4 GB of RAM
    http://Ark.Intel.com/products/chipsets/22817

The HDD or SSD drive update shouldn't be a big problem.
Usually the built in SATA controller should be able to manage the common SATA SSDS

  • Qosmio G30-163 - update from XP to Win 7

Is this possible please? I downloaded the Windows Upgrade Advisor and he ran and he scored loads of applications. who does not work under Win 7.

It seems that this model is too old. I also checked the websites of Toshiba models supported for Win 7 and the G30 is not listed. Thank you.

    Hello

If you want to switch to Win7 I recommend doing a clean install of Win 7.
The Qosmio G30 drivers are listed on the page of European driver of Toshiba under the area of the Archive (in the product type click on archive).

But not all drivers Win 7 therein, but is not a big problem since Win 7 should install most drivers automatically

Toshiba tools missing as VAP (value added package), utility Support Flash memory card or even other Toshiba tools can be downloaded from the other series Qosmio G40 G50, but you must pay attention to a specific driver as the driver or Wlan poster
In this case, he must use the drivers that are made for chips built in Notepad
