Re: Satellite A200 - 1 M 4: starting very long procedure

Well, when I turn on my laptop it took a few minutes (4-5) before even Vista begins to work.

I have this screen where Toshiba check my system and it stay that the audit of about 5 minutes.

I thought that's the problem with Windows, but it's not.

Something with the bios or hard or?

Help, please

> I have this screen where Toshiba check my system and it stay that the audit of about 5 minutes.
I think you mean that the Toshiba start screen.
While the Toshiba splash screen is visible, a Power-on self test (POST) runs in the background and checks your hardware to ensure that everything is present and functioning.
The Power-on self test runs very quickly and usually, it does not have a lot of time as in your case 4-5 min.

I guess it takes a little more time because the BIOS research and possible bootable devices test.
I think that you should access the BIOS and it should set the defaults.
Also recommend setting the HARD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS Boot order.
This should help to shorten the search for a possible boot device.

On the other hand, it could also be that your HARD drive is malfunctioning.
This would undoubtedly affect the start-up procedure.

Anyway, as you can see it not easy to say why books starting procedure takes so long and what could be wrong.

Perhaps an ASP is an option for you. The technician can perform some diagnostic tests and could find the reason for you question.

Good luck buddy

  • Satellite A200-1BJ does not start

    Hello

My Satellite A200-1BJ does not start. After turning on the button it starts only for 1 or 2 seconds (flashing light, work from HDD, fan work, display blank) and then it turns off automatically. Once it happened days before but I didn't have the time to solve it and over the next few days, he has not occurred. Now, I tried to launch it more than 20 times and it still won't start.

I tried only with full battery and also only with the power adapter. I removed the HDD, RAM, keyboard, DVD, speakers, display and a few other connector under the keyboard and it still does not start and it shuts down after 1-2 seconds each time.

In recent months he sometimes exploded due to overheating during work so I cleaned the dust inside.

No problem with the motherboard or power?

    Thanks for help.

Hmmm... on this virtual path, it is not easy to say what the problem is. described behavior is the same as in cases when the BIOS is dead after failed BIOS update installation.

Of course, it's mainboard problem but what exactly, it is not easy to say. For me, this looks like faulty BIOS.

Have you installed any updates or anything that may be responsible for this?

  • Satellite A200-27R does not start

I got my Satellite A200-27R for 2 years and 8 months and 2 weeks ago he crashed and died. At the time, I was watching on the internet and had probably opened pages 3 or 4 when it froze and I got a blue screen with white writing telling me that something had gone wrong, and my laptop has been shut down to protect themselves.

I was unable to turn it back on for 24 hours, but when he did not return on her cost again function normally, but I backed up all my files incase it happens again. About 10 hours later the same thing happened again: freeze; blue screen and then try to restart.

Since then, when I try to turn it back on it is stuck on the "leading innovation" Toshiba start screen; or goes to a black screen and says there has been a media test failure and something to do with Realtek x 100 or so or until I remove the battery, so it shuts down; or asks me to boot into safe mode and system restore which I made several times now, but this did not help.

I would be really grateful if someone could tell me if they have had similar experiences, and they did, and if there is anything I can do to fix it? Thank you very much.

    Hello

BSOD can be the result of the serious software problem or hardware problem.
If the new OS installation didn t help you solve this problem, I think that the hardware malfunction would cause the BSOD.

Usually the laptop automatically stops due to the higher temperature.
A higher temperature may affect other parts like the RAM modules or the motherboard.
Thus, in many cases the BSOD appears due to problem of memory.

I think you should first clean the cooling modules. You must remove the dust using a jet of compressed air. In most cases, it is the best procedure to get rid of the dust.
Then check the RAM modules. You can try to start Notepad with a module only.
Then move modules to different locations in order to check the slots too.

Of course, the HARD drive should be checked also. You can use a free software called Drive fitness Test. It is good, a freeware software which can be downloaded from different pages.

If no advice mentioned would help you, then I recommend to ask a technician to Toshiba for help. They could use special tools in order to get results on the failure.

  • Satellite A200 PSAFCA does NOT start

    Here's the story.

I got this laptop Australian (A200 PSAFCA) that came with Vista, but like everyone else I can't stand Vista so I removed it.
Tried to install XP and to my surprise XP installation has actually detected the hard drive and it reformatted no problem.
Then starts copying files and the premiere it reboot restarts very well and then it crashes on start "TOSHIBA" logo screen then restarts automatically and goes on and on...

There is not much I can do in the BIOS, and yes it detects the HARD drive in there.

I'm so bored and even tried to install Vista on the lappy and omg... it won't detect the hard drive even for the installation program.

WHATS WITH THAT! This is the first laptop I ever tried to format and I never thought it will be ridiculously difficult.
Can anyone shed light on what I might try? I'm out of ideas.

P.s anyone knows if re-formatting computers laptop Toshiba is out of scope of the warranty?
    Thank you guys.

  • Satellite A200 - 19K does not start

On the other computer, Satellite A200 - 19K, we here,
When we try to turn it on, the power light comes on, and the AC power lamp light therapy if it is plugged.
Also, the hard drive light flashes once then turns off but the screen remains black and the computer makes the usual noise "woosh" that all computers but just for a second before dying out.

We tried to remove the battery, then replace there already, but it did not work.
Any ideas on what could be the problem and how to fix it?

    Hello

    Sounds not good guy!
You said that you have already tried to replace the battery?

Try to remove the battery and unplug the power adapter for about 20-30 min.
Then, connect the new and try to start the laptop.
If it doesn't help then you have no choice but to contact the service provider authorized in your country for assistance.
The A200series seems to be not not very old so I guess that your warranty is valid and the repair must be made free of charge.

  • Satellite A200-AH1 does not start problem

I have this Toshiba Satellite A200 - AH1 laptop computer that will not start.

The system has 1 GB of RAM, (2x512MB).

When I remove 1 stick, the system starts without a problem, if I replace it, and the other, the laptop boots also upwards. I tested the two ram slots and ram spent each time.

The problem of the laptop does not start only seems to happen when the laptop has installed two sticks. I tried even to 2 different new corresponding sticks and still nothing until I remove 1 piece of ram.

    Everyone encountered this problem before?
Any ideas what the problem may be.

My only other option would be to install a single piece of 1 GB of ram, but I would really like a better option.

    Thanks in advance...

    > The system has 1 GB of RAM, (2x512MB).
You got your laptop with these memory modules?
Are you sure that you are using compatible RAM (DDR2-667)?

    Hi all!

I wanted to install XP on a Satellite A200-1AX.

When I tried to install it, crashed Vista and now the laptop won't even turn on.

When I keep the power button pressed, the whistling fan but nothing happens.
I think the BIOS is gone or corrupted.

    What should I do?
Thanks in advance for any help!

    > When I keep the power button pressed, the whistling fan but nothing happens. I think the BIOS is gone or corrupted. What should I do?

What to say to boyfriend. It seems that something was wrong during the process of updating the BIOS maybe the BIOS was not written correctly and the ROM module must be flashed again with the help of a special procedure and the tool.

In this case, you can do anything you will need to contact the ASP in your country for a fix!

Don t waste time and ask a technician for assistance.

    I have a model A200 PSAF3A-0QH01N.

Also have A100 running new 4 GB RAM works very well in this machine. Have updated BIOS did not help.

    Any advice?

According to THIS specification that your laptop can be upgraded up to 4 GB of RAM.

Downstairs you can also find the part number of the compatible RAM. List of the memory modules are tested and working with your laptop.

    Where have you bought?

  • Satellite A200 PSAEOE does not start after upgrading memory

Hi, I am first time here.

I bought a Toshiba A200 PSAE0E-03J02JDR with 2 GB of RAM. I bought a pair of ram Corsair (2 * 2 GB VS2GSDS667D2). The computer does not start after that I installed the memory. I have intel 945 chipset, which is capable of 4 GB (manual page 1-2). The bios version is 1.8 2007.

    Can anyone help me, please.

    Hello

    The A200 series supports different chipsets;
    Intel 945 PM
    Intel 945GM
    Intel 943GML

As far as I know your laptop supports the * 943GML * Intel chipset and the chipset supports 2 GB RAM max.
Take a look at your laptop s user manual * Page 18.*

Summer: 4 GB of RAM are not possible, and therefore your laptop does not start.

  • Satellite A200-1If does not start after the BIOS update

    Hello

It is my first time on the forum posting, I hope someone can help me.
I recently downloaded the latest update of the Bios (bios - 20090121132526.zip) for my laptop. I ran the bios Setup, after the update it restarted my laptop, but then he went to a black screen and no longer start.
When I press the power button only power led lights, fans begin to turn and the DVD - rom turns and stops and the screen is blank.
I am running Vista Home premium 32-bit.

Can anyone provide a solution on what I can do to fix this?

    Was the system standby standby/extended/recovery?

Its important to cold starts of the system before and after an update of the BIOS.

You could try to remove one of the modules RAM (change RAM size) and turn on, otherwise the system may need to be sent to an ASP for repair.

Felt so helpless & didn't feel customer Toshiba was popular with.

Visited 1 ASP - maybe this guy was having a bad day. Just tried to turn on the laptop a couple of times and gave up and said "looks like the motherboard answer... maybe as well buy a new.

Suggestions until I could go down one day to visit another ASP? Any ASP near the region of Peel who is competent and truly excited to help customers of PC Toshiba laptop?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello

Do you n t agree with the technician of the laptop that the motherboard is defective? OK I m not a technician, but the portable t can boot from any media, more the motherboard could be defective.

I had a similar issue that I couldn't start t my laptop more and the ASP was told that the motherboard is defective and must be replaced. I agree with the technician to exchange the motherboard, and after that, it was possible to restart the laptop. :)

So, you should contact the ASP and talk with them.

    Hello

This code beep at startup always means there's a bad material work so I think that there is not much you can do.
The problem could be related to everything, RAM, card graph, processor, motherboard, etc. and it is not easy to diagnose it exactly.

What you can do is to test the RAM with Memtest86 or other memory diagnostics tool. Maybe he can find something

If this isn't the case, I recommend you contact an authorized service provider. Guys can you help solve this problem. :)

  • Satellite A200-1CC does not start after upgrade to 4 GB RAM

I've read several times that I can install 4 GB of ram in this laptop (2 2 GB) but it only works with 2 GB.

    http://www.Corsair.com/Configurator/system_results.aspx?ID=63820

    I bought it here:
    http://www.speichermarkt.de/show.cgi?id=toshiba_satellite_a_200_1_cr_a_200_1_c http://www.UNECE.org/trade/UNTDID/d01b/trmd/gesmes_c.htm & SNO = 00000886

I know that from Toshiba Web site indicates that it would accept only max 2 GB.
Two 2 GB ram works, I tested the two of them separate. Also do not work 2 GB more than 512 MB. If it's true that he accepts 2 GB? I run Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Thanks a lot for your help! I'm almost about to send the other 2 GB of ram back, but I really want to make it work! ;-)

I put t know why some dealers offer false information. Maybe you should ask the dealer.
But you should not forget that the single books supports different hardware specifications and are equipped with different chipsets.
Some chipsets Intel support 4 GB RAM and some can handle only 2 GB of RAM

However, you laptop doesn t start because it cannot handle 4 GB of RAM

  • Re: Satellite L500D prepares to set up very long windows

Prepare to set up windows's been at it for a long time... how long does take?

    Hello

Installation and configuration of windows procedure should not last long
I have installed and configured all Windows 7 within 60 minutes.
In case of installation of Toshiba image that could this process took longer thanks to the installation and the configuration of other tools and utilities

If the installation takes too long then it might be possible that the process has failed
I think that the case you shut down the laptop and try again

For this, you can use HARD drive recovery option.
Press F8-> fix my computer-> drive HARD recovery
