Bar moves (up) to scroll by itself under Vista Home Premium 64-bit

When you try to scroll a list (e.g. uninstall programs), the scroll bar moves by itself at the top on the list of programs; It also moves upward trying to decrease the volume; during the installation of a program, and then by selecting English as default language (in the drop-down list), the list moves to the top of the available languages (e.g.) in Arabic).
I tried the pc virus/malware/adware scanning, uninstall programs, running system restore and install the latest drivers for the wireless optical mouse with no luck.
Any help? Thank you.

Hi Garthright,

Get out of your keyboard and wireless mouse, replace the batteries for them.  Find a wired keyboard and mouse working set and test your computer with it.  If she works with wired all then consider to replace or try the wireless set again if you wish.

Hope this helps, Kevin

  • Why 2 partitions of OS on HP dv9628 laptop computer under Vista Home Premium?

I was just checking my wife of the older HP Pavilion dv9628nr under Vista Home Premium with 2 HARD drives.  I didn't even know he had 2 HARD drives.  I opened the case to make sure.

Here is a screenshot of disk for system management.  I have a few questions:

    1. Why is there a system operating on each HARD drive partition?

2 are 2 necessary and deleted maybe?

Generally however, the C: drive is not always your primary. This may change if based on the installation program. The installer in this book, could be Raid. This is where the 2 drives are used to create a combined drive. Based on the laptop being adverstised as a drive of 240 GB, but with 2 120 GB drives in it. This is most likely how it was setup. To know for sure you'd have to check to see if this feature is enabled in the BIOS.  Before you change any settings that you would like to make sure that you have recovery discs and backed up all the content. As having the OS on a single disk, you will need to disable Raid in bios and probably to format both drives. Then reinstall the operating system on you get (the one listed as C:, to avoid complications).

This article (from ehow.com) can help with your Bios check, so that you can see if Raid is enabled and if you choose to disable. How to disable Raid BIOS

  • Lost my software of fingerprint on Pavillion HDX9200 (under Vista Home Premium)

    Hello

I've had arguments with my recently updated to the PersonaPersonal software version...

He blocked me on some Web sites (or so I thought) and I decided to uninstall this software.

Now I really miss being able to connect with a fingerprint.

Where can I find the correct version of this software for my HP Pavillion HDX9200 that can run under Vista Home Premium?

    Thanks for your help!

You must install the fingerprint sensor driver and software separately. Here are links to information and download:

    Hi Aaron Braun,

    1. What is the error message you receive library breaks down?

    2. you remember to make changes on the computer before this problem?

There is a known issue on some computers that have a chain very long user agent in Windows Internet Explorer. This problem occurs when the user-agent string exceeds 260 characters. There is currently no work around supported for that matter.

    Welcome to Microsoft Windows Forums!

I suggest to convert mov files to a different file format and then run. You will need to use a third-party tool to convert mov files.

  • Remote access under Vista Home Premium computer

All the instructions I've seen for remote access to my computer layout calls for a different Version of Windows. I find it a bit of a rip off. At the time where the user had a little more control of his machine, if he had the guts to try, you could always find a workaround or solution to another way to accomplish the task.

I wonder: is there a fix for this problem?

I am taking my current office in the Brazil and by setting up there. I wish I can access it from the United States and the thought that I could put in place so I could do. But I don't want to upgrade to another version of windows on it. I'll try to access using a laptop running Windows 7. can someone help me with this problem?

Thank you very much for your answers.

It is a Forum of Vista.  To Windows7 questions, you need to republish your question in the Forums Widows7: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 where someone who specializes in issues of Windows7 and procedures will be more than happy to help you with your problem.  It is possible that your computer in the States works under Vista, but the computer controlling the process is the initiating access and that is why you need to post on the forums of Windows7 (although you will certainly also have to make some changes to your computer in the States to allow remote access works correctly).

In the meantime, here is an article that applies to both Vista and Windows7 that could help with the basics: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/turn-on-remote-desktop-in-windows-vista/.  I do not know thay will tell you more and better in the other forum.  BTW, I have no idea if Windows7 supports remote access or remote with antyihing desktop - other than the Windows operating system, but you can ask in the other forum.  I suggest to use the network, Email and online Forum here because it is above all a network problem.

    Good luck!

  • Task now shows only icons on the bar, no words, in Vista Home Premium 64-bit

When I used to run a program it show up under the taskbar, between the quicklaunch & the system tray. It would be about a 1.5 inch rectangle which would include information on the program, or even what was the program. It would give status percentage of disks engraved, scroll the titles of the songs of songs that played in winamp, display the title Web pages, so I could see that the internet explore or firefox icon I had to click on. now I just get TINY little icons, barely larger than their counterparts of task of quicklaunch bar. They are much more difficult to click quickly or even know if they are right, it is so boring

I went through all the taskbar properties and options, windows areo off and I don't know what to do or even how to look for answers on this issue.

    Hi RDougShelton,

Step 1: This problem occurs if the Windows Media Center update process (Mcupdate.exe) cannot access the Windows Media Center data store. You may experience this problem if the data store is corrupted. So, try to rebuild the Media Center data store. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. exit any running instance of Windows Media Center.
    b. remove the mediaCenterDataStore.db file. By default, this file is located in the following location:
    %SystemDrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\mediaCenterDataStore.DB
    c. Click Start, run type, and then click Run.
    (d) in the Open box, type % systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome, and then click OK.
    e. in the details, click pane right mediacenterdatastore.db and then click on remove.
    f. click Yes to confirm that you want to move the Mediacenterdatastore.db file to the trash.
    g. launch Windows Media Center and check if the problem persists.

Step 2: Scanner of sfc (System File Checker) to find and difficulty of the missing or corrupt system files

  • Firefox 17.0.1 under Vista Home Premium, svc pak 2, affected by Google redirects pages of spam

As mentioned in a thread now closed on this site referring to XUL Runner & XUL cache and some registry entries as being the cause. I have a very high percentage of redirects to pages of spam when I use Google search in Firefox, but not IE. How can I stop this?
I tried Firefox extensions and plugins for all the files that are similar to those mentioned in the statutes, or something similar, or something that seems suspicious, without any result. I searched the registry of entries such as those described, or similar, or otherwise suspicious, also with no results.
What I feel, well, looks like exactly what is being discussed. Support for Google has a web page for reporting redirects like this, which makes me the thing, it may be a known issue?

  • How to turn off/turn on my notebook computer touchpad under vista home premium?

I have a model laptop Medion MD 96420. When I write something, I often accidentally brush on the touchpad with annoying effect.

I asked Medion customer support and I was told that it is a software problem. A big problem, apparently.

    Hi josefgrubert,

    Follow these methods.

    Method 1: Follow these steps:

    (a) go to control panel, mouse and device settings tab.

    (b) click on enable or disable.

Note: On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to enable or disable the touchpad. For example, just do Fn + F7 or F8.

Method 2: Perform a clean boot to see if there is a conflict of software like the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting steps, follow step 7 in the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.
