Re: Satellite A300 won't start after updating BIOS

Today I was installing recommended THAT BIOS update 1.70 to 1.90. During installation, the mouse cursor disappeared and has no reaction to the keys on the keyboard. But there was a message DO NOT TURN OFF COMPUTER. So I waited for long (an hour?), but the update progress bar was always in the same place - as my computers are suspended.

After a long time waiting without any response, I decided to reset the computer. Only way to do pressed turn on button for a few seconds.

But after that turn it on again there is nothing visible on the screen, only the reaction of the computer is that bright development under tension is turned on and hard drive will blink every two seconds. What should do? Please help me! I have very important data on the hard drive at this moment! Can I reset the BIOS? I tried to yutm on the computer after you press ESC and F2 key, but no effect. I put the CD with the operating system, but no effect.

Its possible that the BIOS chip is faulty, causing the update to the BIOS to fall down during the writing process.

If you have tried reinstalling the RAM and removing the power for an hour, it is not great thing else you can do except send it to an ASP for warranty repair.

  • Satellite A300 - pad touch dead after update BIOS 2.20

    Hello

exact model is Satellite A300 PSAGCA-06M01N under Win XP.

I had a problem with the webcam, and I read in the forum that it can be solved by a BIOS update. so, I advanced and downloaded the latest version of the BIOS on the site of toshiba, especially for my laptop model. It went quite well with no error.

However when the computer restarts after that the BIOS updated my touchpad no longer works.
I went to Device Manager and could still see the Synaptics touchpad device and it says "this device is functioning correctly. but its completely dead and will not respond with the 2 keys. before I updated the BIOS I never had any problems with it.

I tried FN + F9, nothing helps. plugged in a USB mouse and it works without any problem. In fact, when I plugged in the mouse the synaptics software says "Deactivation of the key because of the external pointing device" for the device driver for the touchpad works.

If I remove the mouse, it will say the touchpad is restored, but it still doesn't work. restarted several times and still the same problem. went into BIOS and chose "default" not still a no go.

Can someone offer any advice or ideas please?
I really need the touchpad for the way I use the laptop...

    Hello

In many cases, the touchpad (pointing device) can be enabled and disabled in the BIOS.
I think you should check if this option is available in BIOS and if so, check whether it should be enabled.

    Hello

I brought a Satellite A300 today and loaded it up and it was fine.
I uninstalled the google toolbar, office and land it came preinstalled with also the mcafree anti virus.
So I could install my own anti virus.

After that the system asked me to restart my pc I did.
Since then, the system cross the 'Please wait' screen
But it won't let me boot into safe mode. I tried a system restore.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

To me, it seems that you 3rd party antivirus software caused this strange and confusing problem the Vista OS installed.

In my eyes a simply, new installation of operating system using the Toshiba Recovery disk would solve this problem.

If you are able to start the operating system in safe mode and then try to remove your installed Antivirus software, then clean the registry and operating system using the free tool called CCLeaner and try to start the laptop again.

  • XP does not start after update BIOS on Satellite L

I've just updated my BIOS 2.10 to 2.20 to try to overcome a problem of overheating with Linux.
The reboot of the XP laptop will not start. I get the XP screen for a few seconds and then the blue screen of death flashes until restarting the laptop before. The blue screen is so fast, that it's not finished writing the text - I can't see all the numbers to check the error.

If I choose Linux Mint of my GRUB screen, the laptop starts properly. I also see the Windows partitions. I tried to boot from a XP disc to run CHKDSK, but I go to the step where it says it inspects the configuration of my then hangs on a black screen / white and there it is.

Can enter you the Bios and check if the compatible mode (after updating the Bios, it might put AHCI default)?

  • Satellite C660 - no Internet connection after updating BIOS

I am a novice user and have a Satellite C660 under warranty that I don't use for surfing the net and Ebay so I hope I can explain my problem!

Toshiba bulletin board said that the need to update BIOS, so I followed the instructions but since then I have no internet connection, and cannot restore the connection that I lost all help Toshiba Bulletin Board today lost and none of the programs to sort the problems work - e.g.set assistants etc. I did not yet create rescue disks, but if I try to create them now I'll be able to restore to factory settings?

Can someone tell me if it's a failure caused by the BIOS update or I would return laptop to John Lewis for repair? Thank you very much for reading this

    Hey Buddy,

The default settings in the BIOS load after update? If this is not the case, go into the BIOS and load the default settings. You can enter the BIOS if you press F2 before Windows start and then press the F9 key to load defaults. Then save & exit the BIOS Setup.

You can access the Internet now?
You try to access the Internet with LAN or WLAN connection?

Also check device manager if all devices are recognized correctly.

    > I did not yet create rescue disks, but if I try to create them now I'll be able to restore to factory settings?
You can create the Toshiba Recovery disk every time. Just launch the pre-installed Toshiba Recovery Media Creator and follow the instructions on the screen. You need just a few blank DVDs to create the discs. Disks contain a factory image of settings which can be restored each time and how many times you want to so with these disks, you are on the safe side ;)

  • Satellite A60: Problem of memory after update Bios V.1.9

    Hi all

I've just updated my bios to version 1.9 last week. Previously, I've upgraded my RAM from 512 MB to 1.5 GB (P4 2.8 GHz., 40 GB HARD drive) and my phone worked perfectly with the old Bios and RAM. After the Bios Update to the new version, 1.9, my laptop does not accept the module of RAM upgrade, windows xp still shows the blue screen, and then restart.

After upgrading RAM off, my laptop works again. I tried several ways to solve this problem as take the battery, then reinsert the RAM or even formatted my HARD drive and installed a new Windows XP, but it didn't work. So what can I do to make my laptop to accept the upgrade of RAM? How to solve this problem? For this reason I now intend to buy a new laptop, if the problem can not be solved since I simulate a program on this laptop, so it requires a lot of memory.

Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

    Hello

I put t really know what is the problem with the new update of the BIOS. In my opinion, you should contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner in your country and explain to them the situation. If your new module memory is compatible with the unit you should tell you want to have the old version of the BIOS. As much I know as technicians for this.

If they see that there is a problem with the BIOS update, I'm sure they will for free.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite A300 does not start after extinction during the BIOS update

    Hello

I tried to update the BIOS after reading a TOSHIBA TEMPRO alert, after some time, apparently not run so I ran a second time, then both ask of BIOS appeared in the taskbar only and it froze while I did not start the upgrade or anything like that I had to the power off.

I tried to restart, but now, it just on the screen stays black (the monitor is not powered, as if the system was not running), all LEDS are powered with flashing 'drive access', the led on the DVD Player keeps flashing making a noise every 3 seconds or more.

I read on the forum that there may be no solution but to take it to an authorized service provider but I'm willing to take any possible solution before you do.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Alex.

    Hi, mate

Unfortunately, you need to be reflash the Bios as something that went wrong during the update. You should contact the Asp and ask them to reflash. There is no other way to get your laptop to work.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite L350 - does not start after the BIOS update

    Hello

I recently (yesterday) downloaded the latest version of bios update dated dated 25/02/10 2: 20 - WIN, after download and does run the software from the laptop immediately stopped working and stop. I am now no longer able to boot up the laptop at all, all I get is the power light on and the hard disk light flashes, I hear the spinning CD/DVD drive, but what is not screen anything, I don't think this is the start.

Is there a way to fix this without taking it to a store/engineer, BIOS recovery?

The laptop is a Satellite L350, I opened the laptop to try to reset the CMOS by removing the card mother battery (not sure if it would have helped), but as much as I know it doesn't have an or I'm not.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Andy

    Hi Andy,.

Hmm... If the BIOS update failed, you can't do anything because only an authorized service provider has professional diagnostic and recovery tools to redo an update.

So in my opinion, you must contact a service provider authorized in your country. Get in touch with the guy and ask for help. They will tell you what to do now.

    Here is their list:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP.

  • My MacBook Pro won't start after update to El Capitan, how can I go back?

    Hello

I really hope that someone can help me here. I've updated to El Capitan Yosemite yesterday through software update, but now when I start the computer I get "no entry" or sign a circle with a diagonal line through it, or the Apple with the progress bar / error message / black screen and it repeats 3 times then stops.

I'mnot you know where my disk of Mac OS x is so ideally don't want to reinstall the whole system.

I did a back up of my work using Time Machine before saving, so I hope that I have most of the things I need backup.

Restart by pressing cmd - R after the tone. It should boot into Recovery. From there, use disk to check/repair disk utility. Quit disk utility and reinstall OS X.

The circle with a slash through it means that it does not find the necessary boot files.

  • Satellite L30 does not start after the BIOS update

    Hi Scott,.

Unfortunately there is no easy way for you to go to your BIOS to its previous level. You need to entrust your laptop to a Service approved partner who has the necessary equipment to Flash the BIOS to the previous level.

  • Satellite A100 does not start after the BIOS update

    Hello

I downloaded the update to the bios toshiba A100 PSAA8 on the toshiba site and applied using the procedure of updating the bios from windows XP MSE. Restart after the start of the update stopped at the toshiba start screen.

At startup the screen by pressing ESC watch text mode. The message indicated it confirms the update of the bios version. POST messages are:

    _________________________
    Genuine Intel CPU
No TPM or TPM has problem
    1015 M system RAM passed

    Press to enter in SETUP
    _________________________

Pressing F2 just clears the last message in line and then no change is found.

The laptop comes with windows XP media center edition. I don't know why the TPM secure is enabled. It is possible that toshiba is available with the module of TPM enabled in bios updates that logbook. If this is the case, they must clearly identified as 'not applicable' upgrade for machines that are not relevant.

I found similar messages around the forum without convincing answer.

Is it possible to fix this without sending? Even if it turns out to be affordable, it make much sense to pay for the problems caused by toshiba.

    Hello

Please don t blame someone for you mistakes ;)
As far as I know that only a few sets of laptops come with TPM.
If you want to do an update of the BIOS on the models at TPM, you will need to contact the ASP!

Looks like you used a bad BIOS or bad BIOS update procedure.

The Toshiba page a BISO update the documentation that describes how to upgrade the BIOS on each series laptop!
You will find on the page of the Toshiba driver compatible BIOS and information over a large number of details!

    > Is it possible to fix this without sending
Don t think so, and therefore, you will need to contact the Asp help!

    Good luck

  • Satellite M40x won't start after upgrade CPU test

I have a portable M40x I took the CPU out of it to replace it with another to test the computer started fine then I stopped and took out and put it's original return CPU, and it wouldn't start. Now it primer with any one of all the CPU. When I turn on the power, all I get is a white screen for a few seconds and the laptop is closed down. Both the CPU is good because I since tested on other computers to make sure that this was not the problem.

Anyone has any ideas on what is the cause?

    I m not surprised.
As far as I know, Toshiba does not support updates, and it is not advisable to do something like that.
It of one that the replacement of CPU on laptops is not easy and not recommended.
The processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation.

He was awarded the new heat paste? It s necessary and important if you want to connect again the CPU.

It is perhaps a reason for not starting.
I think more details you will get from the service guy in your country

  • Satellite C50B freezes at startup after update BIOS to 5.10

    Hello
    I updated the BIOS of my Satellite C50 - B - 14 d (PSCMLE) to 5.10 (a final release early sept. 2015).
The update succeeded, and the laptop runs as long as I do not install the drivers for the card WiFi (Atheros AR9485).
If I try to install the driver (it does not matter which, those of the Toshiba website or those of the manufacturer, of), the laptop crashes before the end of the installer.
Installing drivers from Device Manager makes the laptop freeze on when Windows starts (I tried 7, 8.1, and 10).
Completely on the Windows logo screen it freezes, and I have to turn off it.

In addition, the wired network adapter is not detected (it does not appear in Device Manager).
The same question is described here (http://www.eightforums.com/general-s...ses-start.html), but no solution.

Any suggestion? The BIOS may be downgraded? The BIOS update utility does not Flash an older version.

    Thank you!

    Hi indutry,

I also have exactly the same problem since updating my BIOS to 5.10 with my Toshiba C50 - B - 14 d PSC MLE

I have to start windows in safe mode without network to disable the Atheros AR9485 before restarting again in normal mode.
I now have to use an external WiFi adapter as my LAN port is now also lack!

Upset that the BIOS update has broken all my embedded network on the laptop.

I tried to update the Atheros drivers to the latest version, but as soon as the device is turned on again the system crashes and we're back to square one.

There is no solution that I can find other than turning off the unit and live without built in WiFi + LAN.

I hope Toshiba can be remedied with a new BIOS update?
