Re: Satellite U400 - battery loses power while he is in charge

Hello

I did not do anything with my laptop, just to turn it off and then after a few hours later I turned it on, and then he said: battery charge, but instead to go from 90 to 91, 92 down from 99 to 90, then 80 and he cut it while the battery recharges ;(

That please?

Once I finally sucssed the full battery but then when I shut down the pc, NOT SHUT DOWN just that close to start the hibernation, then he the of to is the same thing that happened once again I have to charge the battery and then it comes down to % instead of upwards, why ;(?

thnx.

What version of BIOS that you use?
As much as I know the BIOS must be updated to version 3.0 or higher.

  • Satellite A100 - battery all night while the power is off

    Hello world

I have a new Satellite A100 and I noticed that when I fully charge it and then turn the power off and remove the plug from the socket, the next day when I stick it back in the socket of the control light yellow says that he is in charge.

So, I turned on the computer laptop and checked is full battery and it says 94%. I let it finish loading at 100% then it off again and came out of the plug. The same thing happened the next day! He held again!

I don't know that I did not in Hibernate mode because I checked all the settings and choose Turn Off to turn off the laptop.

I read on the battery recall, so I searched on the toshiba site and downloaded the program from battery test. The result came out that my battery is not between the serial numbers involved. I even manually checked the number on their list but mine is not supposed to be affected.

Is anyone having the same problems, or is it normal that the battery itself?

Please let me know... Thanks :)

    Hello

It is normal and you should not worry about this. The same thing happen on my Tecra. Please check this Toshiba document on this http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/FAQ6301EP000ER01.htm

  • Satellite U400-12F: LED power button & HDD protector tool does not work

    Hello

    I have a Satellite U400-12F and I bought a Vista Ultimate.
After you have installed all the drivers and Toshiba of the corect order downloads, the button to turn on the power lights does not work.

And I tried to install HDD protection Utility but the installer returned an error like 'cannot be installed on this model.
Do you know why these problems?

    Thank you very much
    concerning
    Daniel

    > After installing all the drivers and software of Toshiba by order, the button to turn on the power switch lights does not work.
Please check the BIOS settings. As I m not wrong not it takes an option called LED illumination or something like that. There you can turn on and off.
Also, try to customize the special button of TOSHIBA using the Toshiba control utility.
There are also some useful options.
But to be honest I n not know exactly if this button doesn't work with Win XP. Maybe this feature is not available in XP.

    > I tried to install HDD protection Utility but the installer returned an error like 'cannot be installed on this model.
This error message appears if you try to install a tool that was not designed for this series of laptop.
The U400-12F seems to belong to the PSU40E. Check if it s a good tool.

  • Why battery loses power when Satellite-A-50 is stopped?

After a few days the battery of my Satellite-A-50 (two months ago) going from 100% to 4%, while the laptop is turned off.

I tried with the start - stop function (windows 8.1) and tried to close by maintaining that the button for 5 seconds and the laptop is closed.

But in a few days, the battery is low.

How is that possible? What can I do?

    Thank you
    Adrianus

This has been discussed several times here in the forum.
I recommend you to use the search function of the forum and read some other discussions.

But let me tell you that win 8.1 does not power the cell phone completely off by default. It defines the laptop only hybrid close mode for faster start.

To turn off this doc check function:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm

Also the BIOS contains options that allow the laptop to power all its completely OFF. For example: Wake up LAN or Wake up on keyboard mode.
These options wasting energy from the battery even if the device has been turned off.
That is why it s advisable to turn it off.

  • Satellite Pro C50-A-1E5 loses power while stopping down

Whenever I leave my phone ~ 3 months power off - completely put off, as in the case - for about a week, when I come back he has lost all power and needs to be recharged again. It's obviously quite irritating, especially because I bought it to replace my old laptop when the battery top broke.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Such behavior of the laptop can occur where some BIOS functions are active.
You must disable in the BIOS, wake up options like Wake Up on LAN or Wake Up on the keyboard, etc.
In addition, you must disable sleep & Charge (if available)

PS: Don't forget save the changes in the BIOS.

At the moment, I can t say what the reason is for this. Maybe you should try to update the BIOS that you can find on the Toshiba site:

  • When the capacity of the battery falls Satellite Pro U300 occasionally lose power

    Hello

I suspect you have a defective battery (standard installed on the laptop) on my new Satellite Pro U300 - 11 k and I wonder if someone had a similar problem.
When the power drops to 10%, my laptop occasionally loses power. In the range of less than 7% capacity always loses power, i.e. either fails to start the hibernation, or is unable to complete the process (I can always tell if power was lost during hibernation because of the characteristic of the system of protection HD sound). I did several tests, especially in the power saving mode. "High performance" mode power seems to be a little more reliable, but still fails to shut down less than 5% of the capacity. The level of Hibernate by default on the Toshiba Windows Vista pack is as low as 2%, so I can wait until it is able to work at this level.

Overall the battery capacity is about 1 h (Media Player, fashion high performance, maximum intensity) at all about 2 to 2.5 hours (slowed or text editor, mode, brightness low power saving). Charging time is about 1 hour (seems too short). They are difficult to objectively assess that Toshiba avoids quoting the specifications of the battery, but I consider the question of the reliability of the above as being a serious (do not want to take the risk of damaging the HD). I am considering visiting the service center, but leaving both the computer and the battery with them would be a nuisance for me and I would rather avoid it if I can. I wonder if I can claim the warranty on the battery alone?

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Background information:
-The U300 is a few weeks old.
-The battery has been fully charged and discharged (approximately 15 times since purchase).
    -Cooldown takes 1 h - 1.5hrs
    -J' using Vista Business
-J' went through the power settings to make sure they are ok and to change threshold levels
-I am an experienced business user, I use a laptop computer at work which stops always perfectly to the power level of 3%

    Thanks for help

Reading your post, I do see no battery issues! Everything you say is right and not a malfunction.
Please note that the Vista operating system needs much more computing resources and the battery is much more emphasized running Vista!

Please also note that the level and time to discharge the battery can be different! Everything depands of the use of the laptop!
All the portable devices and parts waste the power of the battery at the same time and that's why there are differences in the discharge procedure.

Don t be afraid and take advantage of your laptop but if you think you will need to contact the ASP in order to clarify this issue, then feel free to contact service technician.
They should be able to help you.

  • Satellite U400-10J - power is on but no. LCD dsiplay

    Nice day.

    I have a new Toshiba Satellite U400-10J.
I do not turn off once I use it and then when I get home he is hanged so I decided to turn it off by pressing the power button on a few seconds.

The next day, when I decided to use my laptop again something has occurred that I do not understand.

    My problem is;
When I turned the power button, the laptop is running but there is no display, I checked the fan and it runs for a while then stops after a few seconds. All the other button a lights and the CD player is running too.

What wonder is that the drive led is not flashing or there is no light in him and why there is no LCD display?

Please, someone help me on this issue. I would appreciate if you can give me your answer now.

    Thank you very much.

To be honest I don t understand why it happened. I m owner of the Satellite U400-10N and something like that never happened to me.

However, I have read about useful workaround solutions that could help you.
First, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Then you have to wait I'm not quite sure how long, but I recommend to wait about 30-60 min.
Then connect both devices and try to turn on the laptop.

    Check if that helps.

    Bye and good luck

  • Satellite U400-11Z - only begins with battery connected

    Hello!

Well, I have a Satellite U400 11Z and I was just seeing a web when suddenly my laptop died. My battery was not on my pc and I had only my laptop with the power suply. I re - connect the Power suply, I tried other connections, but nothing, my laptop does not light. I have tried with battery and was okey but my laptop does not detect the power suply so:

-This problem might be because the Power suply (Toshiba PA3468E 19V 3, 95) was crushed?
    - Or this problem could be because my detect Notebook power suply broke down?

How can I test the second option?

Thank you very much and sorry for my English!

    Sergio

    Hi blux,.

What happens if you connect the AC/DC adapter, while the laptop is turned on? If you turn off the laptop, will charge the battery?

In my view it is difficult to say what exactly is the problem. In the best case you should ask a friend who has an adapter AC/DC compatible that you can test to determine what the problem is exactly. Otherwise go to a service provider authorized with notebook and AC/DC adapter and leave guys check it! ;)

  • Satellite U400-119 - battery not recognized

    Hello

I just bought a laptop TOSHIBA Satellite U400-119. The operating system is Windows Vista Home basic.
Before I turned on the laptop, I plugged on the CC adapter and let the batteries reload for 24 hours.

However, after 24 hours, battery LED icon is orange and blinks (which means that the battery is low according to the user manual).
When I tried to turn on the laptop without the adapter DC laptop computer did not respond. So I installed Vista while the laptop was still connected to the DC adapter.

After installation, the Vista battery icon displays a red cross on the battery icon, which means that it is not recognized.
This is a brand new laptop so I think the battery needs to be replaced, but I don't know.

Someone at - it had a similar problem?
    Any sollutions to my problem?

    Thanks in advance!

A display really interesting because one of my friends got the laptop U400 and a similar one issued what s happened too.
Suddenly, the battery did not recognize I thought that it s a malfunction of the battery. But I was wrong.

    The solution is very easy.
You must update the BIOS and this should help get rid you of this strange issue.
My friend did the same thing and it worked!

So check it out. Download the BIOS compatible and right and update!
