I was reading an article on how to read a file of newspaper cbs-

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/928228

The sfcdetails.txt found in the windows folder, but it was 0 bytes.

I think I have some corrupted files that are stopped at a security update.

Hello

    Borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD(not Dell, HP, etc Recovery DVDs) to do a repair installation

    If you see a startup Neosmart repair disk download here, this is NOT what you want.

    You want a good Vista DVD that contains the operating system files.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If you need a recovery media for your laptop back to factory settings, read this info:
    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.
    There is no Vista free download legal available.
    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.
    They will tell you how to do this.
    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • I have can´t of the cbs.log file

    Hello world

    It seems that never ends, now it s the file cbs.log that says access denied.

    OK, after you have installed successfully (and finally) sp1 of vista, I ran once more the chkdsk and sfc/verifyonly to verify if everything was ok, as if it was before I ve installed sp1, which was: no no violation of the integrity of the errors found, files damaged, everything seemed just fine for me, but now After installing sp1, the sfc/verifyonly said that Windows found violations of integrity resources Protection and the details are in the cbs.log file, which I was able to access so far, but now, when I try to open it, it says "access denied" - what happened between that made the system go like that and can it be resolved?

    Anyway, desperate, I tried a sfc/scanow in the hope that it would solve this problem, this 'thing', well actually he pointed out that the Protection of Windows resources found and managed to repair damaged files and details could be found at c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log, but as I said before when I try to open this file it says access denied.

    So I rebooted my pc and hope that everything would be ok, given that the sfc/scannow said that the files when repaired, so I thought. Unfortunately, that s not the way it is, after the reboot, I ran sfc/verifyonly, just to confirm that everything was actually ok, well it still signals once Windows Resource Protection found violations of integrity and the details can be found in the cbs.log file.

    Right now my computer seems to work very well, besides that of course, the problem is I m feling completely lost here with this 'thing', it just doesn't feel good and probably it's just me, maybe I m too picky about this stuff, everything must be running ok so I can be at rest with myself, please can someone help me with this , can someone explain me what is happenning, so I can understand it?

    I think that worst of all, at least for me, is not to know what is happening, it s as I have, I would even say obcessive, need to understand not only the solution but most of all the cause of it, the mechanism of it s, I need to understand the process, don't´t you all?

    Pleeaase helps.

    Well be Pedro Borba

    Pedro Borba,
    You must copy the CBS and paste it on your desktop or Documents folder.  Then, open the copied version of the file.  Here is an article which also gives instructions on reading and research the CBS log file.

  • I have " access denied " which tent to open CBS.logs SF/scannow confirmed I have a missing or corrupt file system he could not fix

    I can guess that relates to all the questions that I have as follows; These are being administratively and come in last in the top seven, they are not here in perfect order I jumped on a couple. I understand that these contained the most critical news. All this seems to have started when I changed my host - public to private network network and then to the public, including the computer name change. I also added 1 GIG GIG 3 original RAM and virtual memory increased minimum size of about 4.5 GIG. Hello

    Many files that SFC cannot resolve are not important.

    Start - type in the search box-> find CMD in top - click right on - RUN AS ADMIN

    put the command from below (copy and paste) in this box and her and then press ENTER.

    findstr/c: "[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > sfcdetails.txt

    who creates the sfcdetails.txt file in the folder that you are in when you run it.

    So if you're in C:\Windows\System32 > then you will need to look in that folder for the file.

    How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program
    in Windows Vista
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/928228

    This creates sfcdetails.txt in C:\Windows\System32 find and you can post the errors in a message
    here. NOTE: there are probably duplicates so please only post once each section error.

    You can read the newspaper/txt files easier if you right click on Notepad or Wordpad then RUN AS ADMIN - then
    You can navigate to sfcdetails.txt (in C:\Windows\System32) or cbs.log (in C:\Windows\Logs) as needed.
    (You may need to search sfcdetails.txt if it is not created in the default folders.)

    I hope this helps.

    My laptop is having a lot of problems now may not install as 16 important updates, it continues to display the 800700B error code. Then I run sfc/scannow, and then he said he finds corrupted files, but could not resolve, so I tried to open the cbs.log newspaper to for more details but he said that the access was denied (no matter in many ways, I have tried, it won't let me access it).

  • Can someone help me interpret the results of a log cbs.log file?

    My laptop worked little strange - gel sometimes and only excessively slow.  I ran chkdsk /f checks and / r.  Both went well.  I then ran sfc/scannow.  The results of this analysis are displayed below.  I'm not a pc expert, so I don't know if I'm all together or if there is something else, I have to do.  Specifically, the last line of the cbs.log file says, "Verify and Repair Transaction completed. All of the files and registry keys listed in the framework of this operation were properly repaired".

    Any help would be appreciated!  Sorry for the text copy/pasted for a long time.  I cut about 99% of the out and about 1% of the folder (due to a limit of 60 000 characters) just left.  I couldn't find a way to attach a file.

    Thank you!

    Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

    This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

    This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

    -Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
    For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
    Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

    For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
    Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
    your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
    Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
    Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

    Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
    with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

    Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
    Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
    BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

    Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

    Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
    presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
    in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

    Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

    Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

    How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

    If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
    Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
    older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
    get new manually if you wish.

    ===========================================

    Refer to these discussions because many more excellent advice however don't forget to check your antivirus
    programs, the main drivers and BIOS update and also solve the problems with the cleanboot method
    first.

  • CBS log files SFC problems

    I have Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit installed and it is a preloaded operating system. System works very well except sfc/scannow

    I ran various times even in safe mode and I keep get this file problem CBS.log that SFC cannot repair because it was damaged and does not repair all files.

    Since then, I have the OS installed with the installation of preloaded system. This is an easy fix? Or just throw the computer and buy a new one? lol as to why or how I got this error in sfc is beyond me.

    I wouldn't worry about CBS errors if the machine is running.  SFC is very limited in what he can fix on vista.
