ReadyNAS probably 3-series

Hello

I plan to upgrade my ReadyNAS Duo which has served me well for 5 years running 2x2TB in Raid 1.
Consider buying 2 or 4-Bay (or even 6-Bay hope not) NAS and it's for home use with small office.

I have questions about the advantage of the separation of the data on different disks
or more software division in volume and proportion of providing enough separation.

In general, I need on the NAS for years to come
A: Archived data - photos, media, etc. - accumulate by the time thread doesn't change - about 1.5 GB more
B: Backup of Mac-3-4 - need about 1-to - change as do backups
C: shared folders in LAN - need about 0.1 to - change a lot
D: shared folders externally on internet with corporate clients - need about 0.2 to-change much
-need for encryption and security
E: - web page - TB 0.01 or if - need for security of the internet etc.

Today I have A - C only, but consider expanding the use with D and E with the new NAS
The old Duo likely will be the new backup destination.

Questions (after reading briefly to the Readynas software manual 6.2):

(1) allowing the protection bit decay is mainly interesting for A and possibly B
If this was typically 2 diska raid1 and physically separated from the other 1-2 disks (for C - E)?
Hear that maybe he should not be activated when the data changes all the time
because that would lead to the fragmentation of the disk, but I may not understand it.

(2) the activation of the encryption for a part D (for business sharing via internet) is it possible? and if yes
recommended only for a disk full? or with a separate volume on a disk enough
who is otherwise not encrypted?

(3) security against non friendly internet access. Look for a web page or two on the NAS
but worried for what it opens to attacks from outside. This help in any way to
get that stuff on a separate drive? or enough separate volume?

(4) I know that the volume can be split on shares and each action can be password protected
and if I actually work today. Is there an advantage to divide more physical on separate disks
or part of separation is enough? If a system of 2 bays with units of A - E would do anything
the same integrity, security, performance?

(5) I read in this performance drop checksum and inauspicious rot protection manual.
If I have I have 2 drives configured raid1 and divide it into two volumes with checksum and bit-protection
activated and the other will be without, they have then different performance? Or I have to
have the volume without checksum and bit-rot-protection on a separate drive for the performance gain?

(b) same question for the fragmentation of the disk?

(6) the last question is the limitation to 4 TB 3-series disks one hardware or software, i.e.
a future upgrade of the OS 6 will open for larger disks?

In General, I think not performance is an issue. My focus is mainly on the integrity of the data and
Internet security so I opened to access internet option D and E above.

The questions cover a wide range and would also appreciate a partial answer.

Thank you

    Hello

As far as I know as much Toshiba portable computers come with different hardware configurations. I think that, probably, this series of laptop also was delivered with different processors.

Where have you checked CPU properties in windows?
I put t know why Windows shows you this information on the CPU. Perhaps this CPU was installed in the laptop.

  • Pouvez fpga peak hold

Can FPGA peak hold as the drawing attached.

The pulse of the Moose is all 0.3us wide. The scale of the hold of the tip is 20us.

    The peak amplitude is 0.8V.

    Thank you.

The faster module input analog cRIO is the 9201, that samples at 500 kHz, which equals 2 us intervals.  It wouldn't be fast enough to take your pulse.

Fastest card of the R series is 750 kHz, which is still not fast enough.

If you've built a simple comparator circuit that would turn your pulse to a TTL level signal, you can connect to a digital input on the FPGA (probably R series only) and read pretty quickly.  You can use this signal to activate an exit market and stop right analog time.  It wouldn't exactly be a hold of the tip, but it would be close enough.

I hope to get an answer to your question.

  • Why many DELL notebooks still come with Windows 7?

    Hello

I think to buy a DELL, probably the series Inspiron laptop.

I see a lot of DELL notebooks still come with Windows 7 and it's even a filter criterion when you browse laptops at DELL.com

There is 'Windows 7' and 'Windows 8 ' filters.

DELL is not confident in Windows 8 or what is the reason?

Also, if I buy a laptop today, would you advise me to choose Windows 7 Windows 8 and reasoning why?

    Thank you.

Windows 8 has no XP mode and does not have a start menu and is not compatible with many other things. So no I don't see things at my disposal at any time.

  • The upgrade of several graphics cards?

I'm interested the upgrade of my d5200t (and perhaps my SR5125CL) to several graphics cards in order to run BOINC projects that can use graphics cards (for example, GPUGRID) better.

So far, I have found that:

    1. my computer room can not consume much more energy and stay at a comfortable temperature.

2 GT240 and GTX275 boards have been recommended as the most profitable for the GPUGRID program I want to run.  Motherboards based on the ATI (probably HD58xx series or higher only) may eventually become usable, but not before some time after AMD/ATI releases the next updates of their OpenCL compiler.

    3. two GT240 boards instead of the 9800GT card I would be now about dual GPU computing without current power significantly more power.  How many of these cards motherboards will hold?

Where can I buy the appropriate cards online, with an installation service?

It's your motherboard.  It has only a 1 PCI - E x 16 slot for a video card.  Also watch the video chart area for restrictions.  Your PC specifications indicate that your PC has a 460 watt power supply which is good but not big enough for larger video cards.  The GTX 260 and above all probably need one more great power will provide.

Review the specifications of performance ATI and NVIDIA . Look at the specifications of strip memory bandwidth and level of DirectX support.

Your PC local repair shop and manage a video card and power supply installation. You can get a quote before you buy a video card.

www.Newegg.com has a lot of video cards.

  • Convert the remote physical computer Win98

    = & gt; SEE maybe INSTEAD: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1144827

TOO MANY DEAD ENDS. I am very frustrated. Please help me find a new path, or convert a dead-end in a path of success!

I need to move from a legacy Win98 to a virtual machine, bringing with it boot disk software that may not be installed or activated again.

    = #1 END =.

I put the disc in a remote computer as boot drive. I can't convert Win98 remote physical computer to a virtual machine. )

From VMware Workstation 6.5, I File/Import, connect to the remote computer successfully (name = michelle, username = guest, password = *). Then, I like the VMware Converter Agent needs to be installed temporarily on your remote computer. I then get a "failed to connect" error. In the vmware log file, I see the converter tries to a share named "\michelle\ADMIN$" there is no such action, and I don't know how you would set this to the top on the Win98 machine. This attempt will never succeed? In a help file, I read "the wizard of Conversion of VMware in Desktop allows you to import the following types of virtual and physical machines:"and Win98 is NOT in the list. "

    = #2 END =.

Otherwise, I could build a v2I backup (.sv2i) and try to convert that. However, I vaguely remember trying to do this a few years ago, and it does not Win98. It may concern the converter does not support Win98

    = DEAD END #3 =.

Otherwise, maybe I need to go back to a 'METHOD ZERO' tablecloth topic (http://communities.vmware.com/message/1140447#1140447) earlier suggested continuum "Port loses Win98 bootdisk to the virtual machine (guest)? ((I'm waiting on backup .qic below before taking the disc off another motherboard and put it in the host machine.))

However, his method includes the use of vmware - vdiskmanager.exe. I do not have this program, and it appears to come only with the GSX server. All I have is VMware Workstation 6.5.X.

    = #4 END =.

Otherwise... I'm currently a .qic BackupMyPC backup of the original diskette of Win98, now begin on another card mother. I hope that later have a Win98 VM with BackupMyPC and restore my backup of .qic original Win98 disk in the virtual machine. HOWEVER, I can't create the virtual Win98 machine. Other current running VMs can get to my CD, but this one won't boot off of it. I got the new VM at startup of a Win95 boot in DOS disk, and this virtual machine will now Boot C: in DOS mode. However, it does not recognize my CD-ROM as d:, whatever the configuration (image autodetect, d: or iso). So, I'm stuck again!

    = #5 END =.

I noticed that Ghost 14 has its own ability to export to a VMware virtual image. However, Ghost 14 does not work under Win98.

    = DANGEROUS END #6 =.

If I try to upgrade the operating system of the real legacy disk Win98, I'll probably break some features of other old tools I need, which are the reason why I can't start over again. Physically I could clone the drive, but it's probably another series of dead ends. The worst would be to get it all cloned and running to find the legacy of garbage tools...

    =================

    Thank you very much

    Helmut

PS Where can I find vdiskmanager continuum 'method of zero?

PS how to add this community to 'my communities '?

You did say "or a second VM.  Of course, I don't know why a 'second' VM.  All I think that I need is a single machine virtual to run Acronis restore.  Why do I need TWO of them, or why I need this product LiveCD?

Instead of overwrite your Windows XP guest, you can simply attach a new virtual disk... and replace this one... then remove the new virtual disk from VM WinXP and attach the same disk to your guest of win98 and start from there.

    It will be useful,

  • series of 100 ReadyNas rn104 principle capacity hard drive

    Hello

I have a disc of 4 Tb. still one of 3 Tb. more I can put in my rn104

    Hello

I think the RN104 and others in support of this range of NAS drives up to 8 TB of capacity.

Note that default RAID is used, so unless you did something to change this, do not not the capability of your NAS as simply being the sum of all your disks. I think, when RAID is enabled, you can expect to 'lose' capactity as a "tax RAID" 1 Road (StephenB thank you for a very reasonable period). Things become a little more complicated when you start mixing disks of different capacities.

  • Minor scratches on SS 2 series out of the box

I am very happy that my watch stainless steel series 2 has been delivered today! Hope you are all enjoying your. After an inspection of the watch, however, I noticed very slight/minor/extra fine scratches on the screen, mainly on the top and the bottom of the screen where the curve begins, but also a bit in the middle. Once again: scratches are very minimal and is only visible when shine your flashlight of the iPhone (or any other light RAM) directly on the screen and looking closely in some angles. It seems that this has happened during production, probably during some polishing of the watch or other routines (because the stripes are mainly on the curves of the screen and pointing in the same direction). Really in trying to decide what to do about... Some of you SS series 2 owners would be so good to check that out and let me know what your watch in bright light looks like? Once again: it is very difficult to see if you need to use your iPhone light therapy lamp or other direct light source. I read a few threads on the coating that was applied to the screen (also described in the manual). Some suspect that this coating scratches easily, however I think it is strange that the watch is delivered striped out of the box. Especially since this Sapphire screen must be very hard to scratch.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar in Apple for the service. If you need a Apple Store - find a store - Apple. Take it within 14 days from the date of purchase for Exchange do for a not scratched. We cannot help you here, and these forums aren't complaints because Apple isn't here. We are all of the users like you.

  • Will you be able to download nike + Apple Watch 2 series when it becomes available in October?

I was wondering if the only difference between the two watches is only the version of the Nike + is delivered with the perforated Strip sport and preloaded with software Nike +? Two things that theoretically could be added to the series 2 shows at a later date.

If I had to bet, I would say that you will be able to download the Nike + app to any Apple Watch, as well as the faces and other accouterments of software, but the group will be probably exclusive to the Nike + Watch version.

That is, I doubt that the band will be sold stand alone.

  • cartridge HP 61 (recharging)? Deskjet 1050 /HP, series J410, discharge printer/scanner

I bought a hp deskjet 1050 (J410 series) printer/scanner, about 3-4 weeks ago, at Future Shop for $29.99. I used all of the ink in the black cartridge 61 hp, called a local outlet for a large company to fill cartridge and I was told that they could fill up again. They did it.

Now the printer/scanner is displaying the attached message and refuses to print.

What is the opposite of "green"? HP did not hear the words "reduce, reuse and recycle '?

HP is really so short-sighted that they hired printers and cartridges design engineers so that the printer does not work after using the ink in the cartridge?

A new hp deskjet 1050 printer/scanner costs $29.99 at Future Shop. A black hp 61 cartridge costs $19.99. They really matter to the printer go in a landfill after using ink? I used to think product hp product - quality since I bought my first calculator hp 21 more than 35 years ago.

I tried to get rid of the warning (with the 'Close' button disabled) by starting the Task Manager and end the task. but the printer still does not print. Do you know another solution to workaround?

At this point, I think again the printer & shopping for a better alternative.

    Thank you.

I would say that if the message comes up again just to say 'no '.   While HP does not fill, they try to crack down on counterfeiting, which sells reloaded cartridges / reman as genuine HP.

BTW, instead of charging probably taken your cartridge used once and you gave another replacement.  If you had gotten back your printer cartridge would have recognized and do not show this message.  I suggest that contact you the restring a replacement if cleaning the contacts of the cartridge as shown below (for a different series, but the same principle) does not solve the problem.

On a related note, I gave once a printer at the local high school.  Some time later I received a call from the teacher that he was not working properly.  They had replaced the #57 with a charged cartridge that had the wrong color in yellow (green now).  We got a replacement and had one of the missing colors.  Finally, the third replacement worked.  I asked why they bought refills and the teacher said they were less expensive.  I asked if they have 1/3 of the price...  You get what you pay for.

BTW, I do not work for HP or represent them, I'm just a volunteer on this forum.

  • HP g7: update of motherboard on the g7-1300 series for a g7-2000 series

    Hello

New to the forum, search on this but has not found the answer I was looking for.

    I have a g7-1300, series updated since B960 cpu to an i5 - 2410 m.

Now, instead of buying a new laptop, I can get a motherboard the g7-2000 used for a small price (which has HM76 chipset so I can put end 3rd generation intel core CPU, has a better discrete gpu, support of usb 3.0 etc..)

I was check part numbers, specifications and images online and it seems to be that slight differences between 1300 series motherboard and a series of 2000, so I ask here, someone do such a thing? Replacing the motherboard with a series of 2000? Was this a correct adjustment? Everything worked fine?

Yes, I checked the compatibility of the chipset (since my i5 - 2410 m is HM65 and 2000 motherboard is HM76 HM76 in fact supports 2nd gen iCore)-it is even mentioned in this manual of g7-2000 equipment.

The display of connection and other cables will fit exactly? By comparing images and specifications in the manual of my motherboard and the 2000 one, I noticed that the hard drive light is on the right side in 2000 model, but I don't really care about that, I don't even bother with it. Sinks heat appear to be same too, so I can always get a used cheap for the corret later model.  And even if there is a port which may not fit in my case, I'll just cut out the frame, I don't like. What I care is physical connections.

Specifically, I would replace my current 650199-001 to a 680569-001.

Also, Yes, I'm really pushing it with this but I can not afford a new laptop and cannot have a fixed pc because I keep moving. And I love playing with my laptop I am doing this because I can get the motherboard for really cheap.

    Thanks for any help!

It does not appear as if it will fit. Look at the pictures of these two systemboards, and you will see that the boards mounting holes are not the same. This would also likely that external ports probably don't line up precisely enough to adapt to the back part of the base of the laptop case.

  • Why my headphones can be activated seri?

My husband has an iPhone 4 IOS 9.2.  Whenever it plugs into the headset, strange things happen.

His headphones makes iHeart radio start to play, even when completely finished the app connection or disconnection.  If you unplug and don't get the application started playing, and then it drains your battery fast.

Turning the earbuds just right, while that plugged into the phone, seems to activate Seri.  It is a problem when you try to make a call.  Turning your head just right, or by moving the phone can cause a Seri turn unexpectedly.

Seeing that the headphones provided with the phone have long since quit job, it uses 3rd party headphones.  We don't know if there is a short-circuit in the Atria, or if there is problem of ap with the application or the system itself.  Can anyone help?

The helmet and the "home" button are part of the same Assembly on iPhone 4S and I believe that all iPhones.  Your husband has a default Assembly and it should probably be replaced.  Confirm using headphones and see if the problem also occurs with them.  But I think that it is the Assembly.  Do post here if that is associated with it please.

  • Adding a port series HP xw6600, xw8600, and other workstations

Based on some advice from Dan_in_WGBU (which is a HP engineer and an excellent source of information in this forum), here's how to add a serial port backplane HP.  To access a serial port still can be very useful for some projects.

As is done with many more recent work positions the xw6600 and the xw8600 both have no ports series on their basket funds, but HP has designed some of their motherboards with a special type of powered serial port header consisting of two rows of pins... 8 pins on 1 side, 7 on the other.  Who is supposed to accept a cable sheet with a record of 8 holes with a 'white' (filled plastic) which allows the other end go on the motherboard header in only one correct orientation.  For the xw6600 this header is down on the lower edge of the motherboard, just left of the SATA port to the left, under the lowest PCI slot.  It's a '8 x 2 males header' with a single missing pin, which is where plastic filled wil end of shooting overall.  The same device is used with a number of new jobs Z, too.

The small device at the other end of the ribbon cable is known as a "2nd serial port adaper" since when virtually all workstations had a built-in serial port in the bottom of basket.  With the HP xw6600 and before xw8600 workstations this unit should really be called the "1st serial port adapter".  Dan indicates that this unit can be used on any HP motherboards with special serial port header powered 8 x 2 this necessary.  You can see the unique circuit board at the end of supplypaper-mother of the device below, which receives power from the motherboard to the appropriate serial interface and signals.  Note that this is not a simple transmission device on a cable in water, which is used by some other manufacturers to get signals to/from the motherboard serial port.  Head of series of motherboard HP 8 x 2 location is easy to find in your Workstation Service and technical reference Guide.  These manuals are easy to find via Google.

Combined perimeter wire / Ribbon / two brackets PCI 'part option' number PA716A, but the key for a cheap purchase on eBay must know he has reference number is 264534-001 283984-001 (alias).  You can find them on eBay in one of these three designations, with the more expensive under the option part number.  Make sure you get the included ribbon cable... Mine cost me about $10.00 total, including shipping.

XP/W7 32/64-bit OS will recognize this material added automatically, and I bet that Windows 8.1 would be too.  Here is an example of the complete kit, you will get directly from HP, including full-height and low profile PCI brackets.  Many found on eBay are sold without this special ribbon cable coming from the top... Be sure to get one of these.  I bought used... difficult to wear one of these stars:

I can't post the patterns, but it's OK for me to show the pinout of the connector on the motherboard, since most of them are already in technical reference guides.

The serial port follows the standard RS232, once the card is installed.  On the motherboard, the serial port UART signals are routed to the Super IO on the connector of P53, but the motherboard is not the interface RS232 circuit needed to provide the interface voltage levels to meet the EIA/TIA-232 standard and to provide ESD protection on the serial port.  So do not try to connect a serial port connector and connect it directly to the motherboard.  It will not work and may damage the motherboard.

The PA716A card is very simple.  It contains an RS232 interface circuit, more a handful of components ensure the electric compatibility and quality of the signal.  This card is identical to the one used on some HP desktop computers and workstations since about 2002.  If you can get one at a great price, it's probably not worth making your own.
