Impossible to rebuild the boot.ini

I have a computer infected by the virus from system tools. I was about to make the procedure of McAfee to clean off when I met the msg of bad boot.ini with:

\system32\hall.dll
I see that this is a problem common - and followed the instructions to start Windows Recovery, go to the repair and try to rebuild the boot.ini file. But it does not work.
bootcfg/list gives: there is currently none available to show the startup entries
bootcfg /Scan research yields: error: failure of analysis facilities of Windows disks successfully. This error can be caused by a corrupted... FileSystem etc.
CHKDSK gives: the volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems.
Help, please.

I hope that you are able to solve the problem. However, to be perfectly honest, I think that the hard drive is done. I could be wrong, and it would not be the first time.

The picture on the link below, it's what you should see when you enter the recovery console.

  • XP pro do not start after changing the Boot.ini file

The problem is that my C: partition Windows 7
    D: has XP Pro

These should be considered right resp. partitions 1 and 2?

I wanted to first XP pro to start the default partition.

A few days ago, I made a change to the boot.ini file. But since XP Pro was not starting at all.

I tried XP Pro to start first that the default partition.

Given that XP Pro and my D: drive have not been starting, I consulted the boot.ini file in C:, Windows 7 partition and I changed the order (i.e. partition No.) in the boot.ini file and saved it to the required location, i.e. D:/WINDOWS/pss.
through my drive C: of work, i.e. the partition of Windows 7, but it still does not work because apparently even though I save here, the actual values and the paths of the partition are not actually be changed on the system. I confirmed this by going into the CMD shell switching to D: and by running the command D: > bootcfg.
Apparently any values I save in the boot.ini file that I save as a text file or "All files" in D:/WINDOWS/pss/it does not actually change in the system because whenever I run the command bootfg values are remaining still and not able to be changed, because apparently it is not saved in XP Pro and the D : partition. No matter what I do and what I put in the boot.ini file to access the values through the windows 7 partition, the values that bootcfg returns me are always the same and he refuses to change the name of path or anything else. No matter what orders, I also put in bootcfg himself.

These are the values that bootcfg gives me:
    default: multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS

    Boot entries:
    Boot entry ID: 1
Friendly name of operating system: MS Windows XP Professional
    Path: multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS
The operating system load options: / noexecute = OPTIN/FASTDETECT/usepmtimer

My XP Pro partition is simply not booting, and it of my main partition and has all my work. It is imperative that it starts.

My Windows CD is also not start because apparently my DVD drive does not work properly, I had the anti malware threatfire (ThreatFire) installed on my XP D:Windows program disk but have uninstalled just in case it was blocking my changes to the system.

On C:Win7, I put the default operating system option in the Advanced tab for Win7 and the D:XP Pro to XP Pro, when he was the starter and work. Now I can only access my files D:XP Pro Player C:Win7. But XP is not just start. What shd - I do? Thks.

I don't have a very practical windows CD but my CD/DVD drive is not read and does not properly.

Looks like your original post stated that your cd/dvd does not work.

Respectfully, you will continue these hap hazard patches and your computer will not start at all. I'll try to help you once again. Please follow closely.

Start your computer by loading Windows 7. Click HERE and download EasyBCD. Install the software in trial version. Once installation is complete open EasyBCD. You will see an interface like the image below. Click Add a new entry.

A new screen appears as in the image below. Use the drop down menu to select Windows NT / 2 k/XP / 2 k 3 as described below. Type the name of the operating system in the box below. Of course, it will be Windows Xp (you can add the home or Pro to the name if you want). Make sure now that there is a check mark in the box "automatically detect the correct player. Once you have completed these steps click on 'add an entry '. That's all! You are finished. If all goes well, and if you have followed these steps carefully, there, now you have a system dual boot.

You can now start working on your cd/dvd problem.

  • Is it possible to remove the boot.ini through desktop remotely?

If a user is logged on Windows XP or Windows 2003 via Office system remotely is it possible to remove him/herself the boot.ini by all means?

In a typical installation only partition of XP, it will boot fine without a boot.ini file (if not, there is another problem).

If the boot.ini file is missing, you will see a message like this:

    Invalid BOOT. INI file
    Booting from C:\windows\

XP always starts very well despite the message, then you can fix the missing file if that's your desire.

You're just a few experiences or y at - it any particular problem you're trying to solve?

  • the Boot.ini file is missing

Miss me the boot.ini file, but I don't have a disc of xp files because windows xp is installed.  Should I buy windows xp to resolve this problem?

First of all, make sure that you have not left a CD/DVD in a drive that is checked for an operating system before the system partition of the hard drive. If there's nothing there, you should be able to repeat your BOOT. INI file.

XP BOOT. INI file resides in the root directory of the drive system (usually c :)). This is a simple text file, but marked as hidden. If you have another computer, you can create or copy one from a computer with a similar setup to yours (for example boot from C:, Windows XP files in c:\Windows, etc.).

The following can be copied into Notepad and saved to create a simple BOOT. INI file.
    [boot loader]
    timeout = 30
    default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    "multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional "/ fastdetect
If you have access to another computer, consider mount the hard drive broke as a slave and creation/copy of a BOOT. INI file in the root.

The easiest way is to edit the boot.ini through Control Panel > switch to Classic view > system > advanced. Click settings under Startup and recovery. Now the button Edit under system startup.

  • Cannot convert win2k server - fails with the boot.ini on the version 3 and 4 error!

    Hello

I am trying to convert an old win 2000 Server on an esx server, and I'm having a little trouble.  I am trying to run the converter and version 3 already tried with no luck.  On version 3, it manages at the end, think 97% I think and fails.  When I look in the logs of the converter, it seems to resemble a mistake with the boot.ini file.  I left the server for some time and today I have just spotted that the new version of the converter is out and although I'd give it a try.

Unfortunately, I will have a chance to convert the server again.  It is not the last step.  Ive joined the output of the converter v4 logs.

I would appreciate any advice or tips that I've been struggling with this and I have to get the server took off the old hardware that crack, on which it is running.

  • I accidentally deleted the boot.ini file, and my system is not booting.

When I switched on my system, "NTLDR is missing. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart your computer"appears. How do I include this boot.ini file in my system. The only splash screen appears. !!

The choice is yours. If you have a Windows install disk, you can try to boot from it and go to the recovery console according to the instructions.  Most of the OEM machines these days above do not come with installation disks, in which case you will need to find another way to boot your machine from a CD.  If this seems difficult, that there is nothing wrong with she participates and have fixed it.

  • HP Notebook 15 ac 123TX: impossible to enter the boot menu

I am not able to go to the boot on my HP Notebook 15 ac 123TX menu.  I tried to type esc and a few other function at startup keys, but it just starts normally. Please someone tell me the steps.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Shut down the laptop - if you're running Windows 8/8.1 or 10, this by holding down the button SHIFT left click Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.

Now, try typing away at the ESC key as you as soon as you press the button start and see if it jumps to the Start Menu.  If this is the case, select f10 to enter the bios menu.

  • Console recovery, missing boot selection - Recovery Console is installed, but the reference is missing in boot.ini

Console original title: absent the selection of reboot recovery

I am running winxp pro, ie8 on a Dell computer. I installed my reinstallation cd recovery console. He was here for a few days, but I don't the had not yet used. While I was checking my msconfig startup items, there is a tab with a box boot.ini file to check all boot paths. I did, and a msg came say that a console rec path was invalid I wanted to remove it. So I checked yes. And now, I don't have the option to go to the recovery console. It is still there or did I wipe it with a deletion? Thanks in advance for any help.

Good - then you must make your boot.ini file looks similar to the example above by adding this line to the bottom of your boot.ini file (that's all one line):

C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT. DAT = "Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" cmdcons

When XP see these two options (and if the folders really exist), it will prompt you for timeout seconds to choose one and then if you do nothing, it will take one.

The stuff between the quotation marks double is just the guest XP offers you on screen when it is booting, you can change it to anything you want:

    Of this:

    "Microsoft Windows XP Professional"

    to do this:

    "Elizabeth XP system.

Being generally impatient, I I would like to change the timeout = 30 to timeout = 5 or timeout = 3 and regular XP will start in the time-out period, unless you choose the Recovery Console before the time-out period.

In one XP installation partition, really same useless file boot.ini to boot.  XP will complain if there isn't one, but also to start very well the first XP partition it finds.

You can also adjust the boot.ini by right-clicking station work, properties, Advanced tab, startup and recovery, settings...

To be really accurate, you might do the properties of the file c:\boot.ini hidden and read-only (this is the default).
