Reclaim free space after deleting Partition Bootcamp

After installing a new SSD and gives back to the top of time Machine, I deleted my Bootcamp partition on my MBP using Boot Camp Assistant. The Boot Camp partition, although MS-FAT was no longer bootable after recovery, and I thought again and use Winclone to retrieve my Windows backup.  The result of delete Boot Camp seems good:

XXXs-MacBook-Pro: ~ the name list $ diskutil

/ dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

#: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

0: GUID_partition_scheme * 960,2 GB disk0

1: disk0s1 EFI EFI 209.7 MB

2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 959,3 GB disk0s2

3: disk0s3 Apple_Boot Recovery 650.0 MB HD

But when I look at the storage, I find that I went 113 GB on my hard drive MacIntosh partition (or says my Time prior Machine backup) to more than 300 GB.  The Boot Camp 118.5 GB partition is gone, but the 'Other' segment seems to have increased to 284 GB.

I see a lot of solutions online for free space recovery after the removal of Boot Camp, but they do not seem to apply to me.  Many are for removals of Boot Camp failed using disk utility.  Several involve CS, but I have no basic storage.  I tried to boot into recovery and repair.  I tried several reboots to clear space.

Any ideas, please?

Please after the release of the following OSX Terminal commands...

diskutil list

Cs diskutil list

sudo TPG - vv - r see the/dev/disk0

Please enter your password when you are prompted by the command 'sudo '.

  • No free space after deleting files - trouble with optimized storage?

Hi, I have macos Sierra and I deleted many files to my main drive and also to my external hard drive (both to the Mac OS Extended format) in preparation for the boot camp. I also emptied the Recycle Bin, although there is much less space on the two disks that it should be and the majority of the space is obviously indicated under "purgeable". I thought it would not be a problem, because I assumed that the space would be released, if I move all of the files there and if I need for the new Windows partition. However, this assumption was false. I can't simply use storage that I released. I can't move there all the files and I can't create the partition from free space. What can I do with it? It's pretty frustrating... Thanks for the help!

You must use the Bootcamp Assistant to create the Bootcamp partition.

Please provide details on the total space and free space on your internal drive. Post screenshots of what you see in system-> storage information. In addition, select the drive in Finder-I press control and post a screenshot of the window read the information.

  • vSphere not showing do not free space after deletion

    Hello

We have ESXi clocked at our remote data center. I recently needed to free up space on the data store, so I used the tool FastSCP remove one VM folders, as I could find no way to do it using vSphere. It seems only to remove no problem, and the deleted folder no longer displays in the view FastSCP or through the vSphere client. But in vSphere, the figure of the free space has not changed. Are there any other required step that I neglected to find that space?

Only solution is umount the point of editing or the db bounce. It is because of 'SEMAPHORE '.

Semaphores are sharable resources who take a non-negative integer value. They are manipulted by the P (waiting) and V (signal) functions that decrement and increment the semaphore, respectively. When a process needs a resource, a "waiting" is issued and the semaphore is decremented. When the semaphore contains a value of zero, the resources are not available and the calling process turns or blocks (if applicable) until resources are available. When a process opens a resource controlled by a semaphore, it increments the semaphore and the waiting process are advised.

  • How free space on the partition system reserved when the usual FSUTIL USN DELETEJOURNAL command does not work?

When you try to make the system images, I found that the system reserved (100 MB) partition can be a problem if it has less than 50 MB of free space.  In my case it was after execution of FSUTIL USN DELETEJOURNAL/d/n and 34 MB free disk space is only 40 MB.  I also tried without the flag/n.

I had just restored the system from an image so I felt comfortable to make new changes.  I deleted the fonts and directories of different language from the startup directory (the directory of fonts took about 10 MB).

I see a file name {hex 64 bit I think} in the System Volume Information directory, which was 32MB in size.  I tried to remove it but no luck.

After you remove the fonts, and the other languages, I had a lot of free space to perform the system image.  I'm not comfortable actually using this image, go ahead yet, but I'm looking for someone who might know what is and isn't OK to do with this partition.  I would have done it 150 MB when I installed everything first if I had an idea I was going to suffer like that on a meager 18 MB.

  • Deleted partition BOOTCAMP capacity entered Recovery HD

I am facing a weird problem and it is honestly driving me crazy!

I had a partition bootcamp (80 GB) with Windows 7 installed for a while. Then I tried to delete this partition using Bootcamp Assistant of Apple, but I have encountered an error and was not able to do. So I decided to start in Recovery Mode, formatted the BOOTCAMP partition in the hope that I would be more able to merge with my Macintosh HD one.

I managed to do it, which means that I then had Macintosh HD on one side and a BOOTCAMP partition go 80 empty on the other.

However, something was not trying to group them together and for some reason, I now have a capacity of 420 GB displayed on Macintosh HD (same as before), no BOOTCAMP partition remain always displayed and order diskutil list showing me 80 GB for Apple Recovery HD (which correspond to my initial BOOTCAMP capability):

    ~ diskutil list

    / dev/disk0 (internal, physical):

    #: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

    1: disk0s1 EFI EFI 209.7 MB

    2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 419,4 GB disk0s2

    3: Apple_Boot Recovery HD 80.5 GB disk0s3

When I run the option first aid in Apple SSD disk utility, I get the following:

My only wish is to be able to recover my full 500 GB on Macintosh HD for later use bootcamp again and install Windows 10.

Looking forward to any kind of help,

    Thank you in advance.

Save all your data, preferably twice and independent from each other. Format the drive and reinstall the OS from scratch and restore your data. Alternatively, if you are comfortable using the command line this syntax comes into play:

    diskutil resizeVolume peripheral [ limits |] MapSize | R | size [numberOfPartitions]

    [part1Format part1Name part1Size part2Format part2Name

    part2Size part3Format part3Name part3Size...] ]

No destructive resize a volume (partition); You can

increase or decrease its size. On the other hand, takes no action

    and print some info.

A size of the limits takes no action, but instead will print the

target range of valid values for the score, taking into

conditions account file system and partition from the current map

as files used and other partitions (buildings) following the

    target.

A size of mapsize takes no action, but instead will print the

size of the device disc set covering, as well as the

map of entire partition size (all partitions less map

(overhead). The whole-disk device may be larger than the by -.

competition card if the entire disk device has increased since the party-

tion map was created. More a whole-disk device is possible

with some drives (RAID) business systems.

You can grow a volume (partition) (back) to its maximum size

possible, provided no new partitions have been created, which

are in the way, by specifying R for the new size of the volume. You

must use R instead of trying a value such as

100% because the latter cannot count fresh generals score card.

To decrease the size, new partitions may be

created to fill the recently released space.  To do this, specify

the numberOfPartitions, format, name, and size settings in

the same way as the description of triplet for the

    partitionDisk verb.

Resize a volume that is currently defined as the computer

Startup disk will invalidate this setting; use the Startup

Disc Bless or system preferences panel (8) to reset the

resized volume as the boot disk.

Device refers to a volume; file system of the volume must be

logging HFS +.  Valid sizes are a number followed by a capital

Letter from Tal multiplier or percent sign suffix as described in

the section SIZES at the end of this page (e.g. 1-5 t, 128 M,

50%).  Property of the disc is needed.

    Hello

In NO case should remove anything from the recovery partition.

Your recovery Partition was photographed on your hard drive during the production of your computer by the manufacturer for all of these reasons.

    1. to reinstall Vista from in the case of a failure of the system, based on individuals or the keys at startup.

F10 or Alt + F10 or F11 are a couple of different manufacturers use sequences.

You will need to ask your manufacturer for proper sequence.

    2. to make the recovery disks on if your drive hard breaks down, so that you can then reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive.

Also ask them how to make records.

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To resolve the problems that have arisen with the recovery D: Partition, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your computer to remove all that has been added to it.

    See you soon.

I looked at the disk cleanup and see that within the system of files I have two as candidates for deletion but don't want not just to clean up these files without thinking it through.

    They are:

  • Reclaim the space in the partition of the ASM

    Hi guys,.

Is there a way to recover space (hard disk storage space) of the partition of the DSO. I have allocated 100GB earlier and is used by the system for about two months and now I want to claim the refund of 30 GB because it is no more necessary. Is this possible? No matter what doc/url please point me to that.

    THX

Is there a way to recover space (hard disk storage space) of the DSO partition

    Yes, as follows:

    1. Add a NEW disc with the new size you want (for example 70 GB)
    2. wait for rebalancing to finish
    3. remove the disk to be deleted (the 100 GB one)
    4. wait for rebalancing to finish
    5 remove/reuse the 100 GB drive

You can do - of course - the two steps at the same time; But if you have only one disk, I recommend you to do a step after another.

  • Satellite L750 - unallocated space after custom partition

    Hello

I bought a new Satellite L750 of 640 GB HD and made a custom 400 GB for C: partition and expecting a ~ 200 GB for a D:; with the remaining GB in an HD hidden for the restoration of the window use.

After the complete installation and start-up of the window, I can only see a C: or my GB of 200 ~ 400 becomes not allocated. No other player number is displayed.

How can I access? I have to redo the entire system again and just send it to C: and forget a second drive?

    Hello

I hope that you have created a recovery disc before changing the partitions on the HARD disk.
I guess you HDD recovery would not work after the partitions has been changed.

In any case, all partitions can be verified in disk management.
    Right-click on computer-> Manage
Here, you go to disk management

Generally, all partitions and unallocated space must be visible. Here, you can create a new partition or can change and change the partitions again.

  • 10g reclaim free space

    Hello

I would like to make a few space optimization in Oracle 10.2 data.

Select sum (bytes) / 1024/1024/1024 dba_segments; give me 26.2 GB

Select sum (bytes) / 1024/1024/1024 of dba_data_files; gives me 43.9 GB

Select sum (bytes) / 1024/1024/1024 dba_free_space; gives me 17.5 GB

So I would get 17.5 GB unused disk space.

I can't use Segment space Adviser due to lack of license.

What is the best way to identify 'bad' TABLES/INDEX objects that are the best candidates for the SHRINK operation.

I know that I have free unused space in the DB, but now I am only able to find storage space of (from dba_free_space) who have an amount of free space. I don't know how to find specific TABLES/INDEXES with the wasted space.

  • Invisible logical partitions after deleting partition EISA WinRE on satellite

    Hello

I have a dual boot with pre-installed Vista and XP. So, I got in total 3 primary partitions and 1 scope with logical partitions it contains. I keep Vista on the reserve and only use XP as a boot partition. I wanted to try a third OS but I had reached the maximum of 4 primary partitions on the disk. So I made a backup of and deleted the EISA WinRE partition which was pre-installed with Vista, thinking this would affect only Vista, my only boot is XP.

I used the XP computer for this management tool. But when I click with the "delete" button right over WinRE and chosen, the score became the unallocated volumes, but also ALL logic on the extended partition, except the first.

I tried to take over WinRE recovery with Acronis image process, but I have the extended partition still shows only the first volume and no trace of the rest of my data. Obviously, it was a big mistake and WinRE seems to contain more information for Vista recovery.

How can I return my logical partitions?

    Thanks for any help

Hmm I doubt you might be abele to restore the WinRE partition once again without use of the Vista CD it seems you completely remove this partition one also all data from the partition.
I agree with you and it was really a mistake, sorry but I n t see any big chance to get back but maybe someone has another idea.
