Reclassification of Mavericks in El Capitan

Hello

Other cloning my Mac HD (Mavericks) before continuing, there are other specific action, I must take before installing the upgrade on El Capitan?

Thank you

Gary

  1. Fix the hard disk and permissions.
  2. Updated all third party applications to ensure compatibility with El Capitan if required - see compatibility App - RoaringApps table.
  3. Back up your data. Or use the disk utility's restore option to clone your system to a backup drive.
  4. Verify that the backup is where it should be. If you cloned verify that the clone will start the computer.
  5. Download El Capitan from the App Store.
  6. Before you install, make a copy of the installer to ensure the guard.
  7. install El Capitan.

  • No problem of reclassification of Maverick in El Capitan

Must what members experience reclassification of Mavericks at El Capitan? It is worth?

Reclassification of Mavericks in El Capitan, this isn't a problem. Whether or not it is worth depends on what you like and if you need the features provided by El Capitan, which is not provided by the Mavericks.

However, make sure that your applications are compatible. At least 4Gig memory. If you intend to continue using iPhoto, make sure that you update to the latest version 9.6.1.

IF you have another disk, you might install on test and try it first. It is perhaps the best way to go.

Anyway, have a good Time Machine backup in case you want to restore.

  • Body of the email missing after the upgrade of the Mavericks in El Capitan

I upgraded from the Mavericks to El Capitan today and although my Inbox lists my emails in a column on the left, the body of the message is missing. I have double-clicked on the messages and still get nothing. In addition, all of my sent mail disappeared and there is that nothing that is listed. I checked the pane accounts and my account is activated and all others are disabled. Any help would be appreciated.

    Try the following:

    1. Abandonment of post
    2. Move ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail to the desktop.
    3. Restart the messaging
    4. If Mail is not working properly, remove the com.apple.mail you had previously moved on the desktop.
  • problems with upgrade of mavericks in el capitan

I've heard of problems with the migration of iphotos to pictures photo library, are there any problems with it?  It's the only thing that keeps me from upgrading to el capitan, all my photos are in iphoto on Mavericks. Thank you!!

As long as you have an updated version of iPhoto, bought on the Mac App Store, there is no problem. As always, back first.

  • Importing Calendar/Contacts of the Mavericks in El Capitan Server

    Hello community!

I always run Mavericks OS X Server and I try to update the server El Capitan, I understood only by processes of updating standard some services fail, so I decided to set up a new server of El Capitan.

I had my users with WGM in Mavericks has exported and imported into El Capitan. I've even set up my Profilemanager settings (manually) again.

    All right up here.

    But here's my question (s)

How to import Calendar/Contacts and even the net folder from the old server which belongs to each user? (Is there a clever way to do this?)

This is where I struggle at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any advice on this issue!

Each calendar on clients to export as an ICS file, then import them to a new calendar based on the server after the upgrade.

  • Migrate from Mavericks in El Capitan

I have a MacBook Pro (mid 2010 Mavericks running) and want to do a clean install of El Capitan on it. Would it not be possible to use the Migration Wizard to migrate the backup Mavericks Time Machine (on a NAS) to this new facility? In other words, is it backward compatibility?

It is not quite clear what you want to accomplish:

a clean install means that you reinstall all apps/tools afterwards and then copy use userdata from a backup:

If you want to use TM, you can use your last user data and restore.

MigrationAssitant is that you can use when you switch to a new mac and migrate.

  • If I move from Mavericks to El Capitan iMovie and iPhoto still works?

I need to know if iMovie projects and the iPhoto library will always be OK if I'm moving to El Capitan of Mavericks (10.9.5)

Before the upgrade, check out the App Store purchases to make sure tab iMovie and iPhoto are in your purchases. If so, there will be updates of programs. The two programs will work in El Capitan. Latest version of iMovie is 10.1.1 and latest version of iPhoto is 9.6.1.

  • Internet recovery installation Mavericks not El Capitan

    Hello

I am trying to reinstall OS X of the recovery of the Internet. I had been running El Capitan, but when I boot to the recovery of the Internet, it installs the Mavericks.

I can easily update from here, but I'm trying to understand why this happens? It will always return to the operating system that comes originally on the computer? Or is there a way to change this?

    Thank you!

It is supposed to return to the origin of the computer OS.

  • Mavericks at El Capitan: security

I have a Macbook Pro 13 "with Retina display (end 2013) and am running iOS 10.9.5." I've been avoiding Yosemite because everyone told me it was not as good as the Mavericks, but I was thinking about upgrading to El Capitan, since I heard that it is a major improvement on Yosemite. I have a Professor of i5 2.4 GHz Intel Core and 8 GB of memory, so I think it should flow normally, but tell me if otherwise.

I was wondering if the El Capitan has been more or less safe (mainly, susceptible to malware and other) than the Mavericks? I heard some call "finished" Mavericks is more stable, while El Capitan is newer and still receive updates.

I also checked and the software I normally use is available in El Capitan and I heard that their performances are somewhat the same, so I was wondering just the safety. However, I can't update XCode 6.2 7.2 any further because it is not compatible, so I'm wondering if that would be (somehow) is a problem as well.

El Capitan is a safer operating system and works well for most people. However, SIP locks many parts of Mac OS X as a developer you can access. El Capitan requires xcode7. More protection have been taken to the malware that is a growing threat, but your own common sense should be enough to avoid downloading software from questionable sources. Malwarebytes. has been developed by one of our colleagues, here to ASC. He received rave reviews and is on the more proven anti-malware for Mac software.

  • Will be upgrade to my old MacBook Pro of Mavericks in El Capitan speed things up? If this is not the case, how to restore?

My trusty old MBP (15-inch, mid 2009; Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3; Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB / 9600M GT 512 MB; Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F1134); positively ancient, I know!) is really gives me a hard time. And I don't even talking about video editing or other heavy work. No, simple processing, navigation, etc. ; the kind of things that NEVER used put any strain on the girl. But nowadays, JEEZ!

So, can anyone advise? Upgrade to El Capitan would make things better or worse?

I did several drive repairs and checks - recovery mode - even a defrag with iDefrag (for what it's worth, right?), but still no luck. So, I'm of a mind that an update of the OS would be some new life to my dear old steed before I finally retire him when I can afford next year.

I'm just dreading that I'll make things worse! So, I can back up with Time Machine and then just return to Mavericks if the proverbial poop hits the fan?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

I think you need to check first on your system.   Download and install this application that will tell us something about what is happening to your system so slow.   http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck

  • Text messed up in iTunes 12.3.1.23

    Hello

Since the update to iTunes 12, various text labels are missing or misplaced. For example, in the screenshots below, you will notice that none of the playlist names appear, any more than what anyone in the top reading window. You will also notice the text to how many songs in my library (or selected) appears higher than expected, so I do not see the bottom of the letters. When I connect to my iPhone, almost no text on the summary screen appears.

    Other weirness:

    -No album covers

-I can not click on an arbitrary position in the currently playing song, I rather stuck ""<" and="" "="">> "to move"

I thought I might have a damaged or missing font, but it seems that the labels are simply displaced instead of lack (sometimes so that they seem to be missing).

I thought that the reclassification of Mavericks in El Capitan could fix, but the problem remains. My iTunes version is 12.3.1.23, OS is 10.11.1. Mid 2012 macbook pro.

iTunes is almost unusable for me

After the update was 12.4, the problem disappeared

  • MacBook 2008 El Capitan or Mavericks

I buy a refurbished Macbook 2008. This is a screen of 13.3 "with 2.4 GHZ. I have a selection of El Capitan, Yosemite or Mavericks. Should I go with the Mavericks or El Capitan? I have a friend who has upgraded to El Capitan with his 2008. I also heard some of those who have said that they will never switch to El Capitan and will stay with the Mavericks. Since I have this choice, choose El Capitan or Maverick? I basically will use this laptop for Keynote presentations. It would be nice to go on the Internet searching for information required for presentations. Thanks for the help! Bookman

I guess that your Macbook is a fine model of 2008.

Unless you had some Mavericks, installed in another computer and it is in your App store account, you won't be able to use it because it is no longer available.  This soul El Capitan is your only choice.

Since this Macbook is new to you, you will need to install the original OS x (Leopard) or Snow Leopard to get the Macbook associated with your Apple ID.  This is necessary so that you can install updates (including the OSX)

    You will need this disk:

    http://www.Apple.com/shop/product/MC573Z/A/Mac-OS-x-106-Snow-Leopard

Then run the Combo of Snow Leopard update:

    https://support.Apple.com/kb/dl1399?locale=en_US

This moment will allow you to install the Mavericks (assuming that you have a copy of your App Store account) or El Capitan.

    Ciao.
