Recover the file hiddne on a DVD disc

I have a DVD RW Drive that has about 500 pictures to JPEG on it. The name of the file in the DVD has been 'ptbackup '. I opened the file and looked about 500 photos, I had taken and loaded in the drive.  I decided I needes to change the name to 'Photos' and I clicked and right click on "Change name" and after that I carved the name on the disc I can no longer open the file. It appears in Windows Explorer and displays the disk is about 1 GB used on the 4.35 GB, which is what she had on her initially. When I double click on the DVD in the drive E: it shows a folder called PtBackup dated dated 17/01/2007 and when I double click on this file, it opens an empty file with the wording 'Slide files in this folder to add, and then the disk'. I tried to open with Windows Picture Viewer without success.

How can I recover the files and programs before a system restore?  my document folders are all empty and my programs will not open!

I know they are there and hidden somewhere, but this restoration took my settings of the computer to 2004! We lost all our data, our software that we use to operate our company at home, our quickbooks that has all our financial data, family photos, videos, Outlook will work not so no e-mail, all turned in time and 6 years ' worth of documents have disappeared.

What happeneded was that I was trying to upgrade to quickbooks software when I got an error, I cancelled out of the facility, then restarted and that's when I got an error hal.dll something? I thought about a system restore would allow me to go back in time to just before when the error occurred, but he basically took my computer back to factory settings, so all the programs that I installed and paid hundreds of dollars for the past six years has disappeared, Microsoft Office and very expensive construction estimating software that we wil have to pay once AGAIN for If I can't get this program working properly.

    I am a fool! I can't believe what's happening.

Someone at - it instructions on how I can retrieve either the programs and data that I need specifically or how to go and seek shade from the files I read online on and restore my computer for about 12 hours ago?

    Thank you all!

Looks like you did a system rather than a system restore recovery.  If you have inserted a disc supplied with your machine and booted from it, you probably erased the disc and installed the original operating system provided with your computer.  Usually, a step in this recovery is to do a full format or quick of your drive.  If you did a full format, your data is permanently lost.  With a quick format, your data may still be there, somewhere but inaccessible by normal means.  Applications must generally be installed, in order to recover the files probably will not help unless you have the original installation media.  Your other data files (images, videos, financial data) may be salvageable, but at this point, it would be advisable to take your computer or your disk to a business/professional who is experienced with data disc recovery.  It will be cheap and there is no guarantee.

Impatient, remember investigate you a backup strategy for your computer and critical data.  Hard drives can go wrong with little or no warning.

My CD drive E: suddenly lost the ability to write to DVD discs. It will play the music on it and will write on CD disks. When I check the properties of the E: drive with a new DVD in place, it shows the whole disc in blue and indicates space used 0 and space free 0. I used this drive often in the past to make backups, record music, etc. This who might I be missing or it's time for a new CD/DVD drive?

    Thanks for your help.

I think you should use Nero. :-)

I never use Windows for this function. Personally, I have had success with Acronis True Image, IMGBurn, CDBurnerXP and Avi2Dvd.

But if you want to search for this, here's a start:

  • How can I recover the files of failed hard drive

    Hello

Apparently, my hard drive failed on my HP.  I'm running Windows XP with the latest service pack.
I get a black screen that says "disk error, press ctrl + atl + del to restart".
Given that it is a 7 year old computer, I don't see the need to put a lot of effort in intensive care there.
But I would like to get some of the files on the hard drive.
Can anyone suggest a way to access the contents of the hard drive?  I would like to get some Word, excel, PDF files.  Nothing major.
    Thank you
    AS

    Hello

If the drive has indeed failed then you need professional services which are very expensive. Best
method would be to contact your local computer store, the other his own service in-house, and have
check out them the disc. Eventually, they can recover your files and they know all local professional
    services available in your area.

  • How to recover the backup of user data DVD

Windows 7 Home Edition premium, I did a backup of the user data at 25 DVD before restoring the original operating system from the recovery partition.  Now I want to restore data from the DVD. I can't find anything in the title of recovery and restoration. but I found an EXE called RecoveryMrg on the 1st DVD.  By clicking on it, I get an hourglass when I put the cursor on the window of the files on the dvd.

He suggested in another post on the forum this should take a while. Well, it has been a few hours.

In the resource monitor DISK tab, I don't see any activity for the DVD player. (But I don't know that it should show op it)

Is that long normally? Or it's the wrong way to restore files of the user?

    Thank you

I'm glad you had your important data stored on your computer!
The HP_TOOLS partition contains the recovery image. If you have recovery media (DVD/USB), then it is not necessary to have this partition to restore your system to the factory settings. If you want to restore, you will need perform an HP recovery to factory settings.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I recover the files deleted from a guest account?

Original title: account file Lost comments

I'm looking for a file that was created under a log of comments in... Looks like my son English newspaper is eliminated when it disconnects...? Help, please!

    Hi John,

I suggest you log on to the guest account and check in the trash.

If the file is not present in the trash, then he must have been permanently deleted.

You can search your favorite search engine to find any third-party software to recover deleted files.

  • Pass systgem of exploitation and the files associated with a second disc which will now be the C drive.

My computer has a hard disk of 120 GB with 3 partitions: C, D, e. using Windows XP Pro.  The C; drive is running out of room and I don't want to repartition the disk.  I bought a 320 GB drive to use as a new drive.  What is the best way to move everything to the new drive, which will be at the same time as the old disk of the computer.  In the old days BACK I'd use copysys to ensure that the operating system has been installed correctly.  If I just copy with just the correct drive, this will bring on any system files or tracks so that I can make the new drive to my new C drive?  Thank you for your suggestions.

No, you can't just copy the files. The new drive will come with a cloning utility (or you can get one on the disc mftr. site) to clone the old hard drive to the new. Cloning is an exact copy. If you don't want an exact copy because you don't want to partition the old drive in the same way, the image of your system partition instead, save the image to an external hard drive. I prefer Acronis True Image . Then, you can install your new hard drive, the boot with the Acronis rescue CD and apply the image as you did. TI can also make additional imagery that makes a recovery program very good backup or disaster. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • How to recover the file management gateway recovery on WINDOWS VISTA

Hi I want to reset my laptop to factory settings, but the gateway recovery management file is missing, ive tried to watch a download to the top and its so complicated for a novice.

    Hello

This is the information that you were looking at?

And he has this way of the recovery Partition by pressing F8 at startup (if it still exists):

    http://support.gateway.com/s/software/MICROSOF/Vista/7515418/7515418su531.shtml

You can also communicate with the gateway and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

It should be a small cost involved.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

You can retrieve your personal files, but not the settings, even if you could look under AppData in the Windows.old and copy them to their respective directory in the installation of Windows Vista work.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
