recovery drive (d) too full?

The storage capacity of my recovery disc (d) shows that it is almost full with 14.7 GB used space with a total capacity of 16.7 GB. That only leaves me with a little more than 1 GB remaining. Is it normal to be so full? If this is not the case, how do I delete data not required drom this player? Also, how this data get accumulated? I searched all recovery options I can think of and can't seem to find anything that could be causing my system to be backups of recovery that I have not programmed. I deleted the system restore so that the last point. Clean up system files, disk cleanup, etc. The D drive shows that it has been compressed to save space

I have 64 bit Desktop HP Pavilion, running Windows 7 Premium. My C drive conversly has 37 GB of space used with 411 GB of free space remaining. I would be grateful someone some light on this for me. As far as I know, this condition can be quite normal.

eyemchase,

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Don't worry about this.  Not add, remove or change anything in recovery.

The recovery Partition is better and happy like this.

Recovery is used to restore your computer in case of failure; the partition has within itself all the necessary tools to rebuild the main operating system as it was when the computer is new and clean.

What is recovery (D hard?)

Comment

Unless you really need to, I recommend that you do not remove the recovery partition, that is, do not delete it.  Sometimes people do after their recovery disks (you have made backups of recovery, right?) -and then these same people regret having deleted the partition later.  Sometimes people delete the partition of the accident before making their recovery backups.  It's sad.

  • C drive is too full of windows files, they make more concise?

My old computer is running xp and has a 20 GB C drive.  I also have an external hard drive 500 GB, where I store most of the data files.  I run C cleaner and remove programs, I do not use.  My drive is too full to defragment, and I don't have enough space to install office Pro 2007 for work.

The composition of my C drive includes; 7.1 GB Windows, 2.6 Docs & settings, 2.5 GB of program files, 2.2 GB System Volume Information, 1.1 GB of files and the rest is negligible.  I suspect a lot of windows stuff could be deleted, but do not know how to determine what is important.

I would disable restoring the system to the outside you don't need on this

    Is that hibernation .

Lowering of the system restore on C has nothing to do with the external hard drive. It will have its own settings. If you use your external for backup, I wouldn't bother with system restore. System Restore is generally used for programs that have been installed. Or maybe if your system is infected with something (you turn it off)

The only thing system restore is good because houses viruses / Trojan / malware. If your system is infected. I would like to turn it off

When I look at my C drive it shows a dissapointing free 8 GB and 20 GB used since a possible 30 GB. Data drive E shows 26 GB free.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

The ONLY way to return to its original state of the recovery partition is to do a full erase of the hard drive and reconfiguration of the PC itself Žtat factory use HP Recovery Media - and, as said, that will delete EVERYTHING on the drive!

If you have backups of the image, as you requested, then you really don't need to partition and can safely remove to reclaim that space.

If Windows won't let you delete this partition, then try using this: Best Free Partition Manager for Windows | MiniTool Partition free

    Good luck

  • Almost full recovery drive D

My D recovery drive is about 99% full.

I continue to generate and save restore points?

Yes, you can double-click the drive in this PC and then double-click "Recovery."  You should be able to right click on the files you want to delete.  At least, I can do this in my D: / partition.

    What should I do?

None of the answers I had had nothing to do with the question, so I'll answer it myself.

It is a problem of HP. The solution lies on their site here:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03737312

I did it and it worked perfectly. The warning of no do not remove the necessary recovery files was a moot point. The system wouldn't let me not in all cases.

    You are advised to:

Your D: Recovery Drive is should not be used for backups, defragmented, etc..

There are backups on an external hard drive.

To fix any problems that have occurred with the D: Partition Recovery, you will need to contact your computer manufacturer (HP) to remove everything that was added on.

  • Laptop HP Envy - RECOVERY (d :)) drive is almost full

    Hello:

Do not back up all files on the recovery drive.

This partition is strictly there to restore your PC software out of the box state.

It is quite normal for this partition be almost complete.

  • In Windows 7 64 bit can drive letter D be removed safely to a HP recovery partition which is full?

My drive C partition has a lot of space, but the recovery drive D partition shows red/almost complete.  My computer is a HP dv7 laptop running Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium edition.

Occasionally, I get annoying warnings in order to free space on recovery drive D.  I know that the D drive is important and not did something for her.

A previous post of Microsoft MVP said remove the recovery Partition letter D would take care of the problem without affecting, or withdrawing, D recovery drive data.

However, while following its not recommended, it is a warning about the programs potentially does not work properly. I cancelled the process without continuing.  Other posts in this thread mentioned will come with the removal of the letter ends not "power" with a red 'X'

I have both a bootable HP recovery disk and a Windows recovery disk for this computer in the case of a hard disk failure, as well as frequent backups and Images of disks of the computer for the whole system.

I'm sure woud like to get rid of these warnings of boring.  Thanks for any advice.

Backup Windows, as with all utilitiies of backup, looking for the next after C drive letter because it is not a good idea to save anything on the main drive.

What Windows backup or any other backup utility does NOT do is check if the disk with the following letter is a suitable place for file backups.

To locate and remove the backup of Windows files, search for *.bkf and then delete them.

Backups must be stored in the external media that can be isolated from the host system when the not required. Preferred to use an external USB disk. You can get one of them before deleting the files bkf in D... :-)

  • I have a duel processor. C drive is nearly full E reader uses only 30%. What happens when the C drive is full?

My laptop has 2 dual processor x 75 GB.  Tried to move the files to the E drive but they double and are difficult to locate. Life should be easier than this!  C drive is nearly full, E drive uses only 30%.  What happens when the C drive is full?

    [Moved from comments]

    Simple!

You get a BIGGER hard drive.

The 'norm' for laptops these days is at least 500 GIGs.

Which is the same amount that I have in my table.

    2 x 250 GB.

I have XP Pro on one single, Windows 7, on the other. (And each of them uses ONLY about HALF of these hard drives!)

In a month or two, I'll upgrade to 2 x 1 terabyte hard drives. sounds a little one 'kill too much', I know, but hey, my computer IS able to be updated that he got so far it?

Yours is in need of an upgrade too, suggest that there is, to solve your problem!

I'm a H9-1469ea Phoenix office less than 2 years. The OSC Drive (referred to as disk 0) with 106 GB is full of programs etc and cause serious problems. The rest of the car O contains recovery (drive D), and I'm unable to increase the volume of the part of the OSC. The D drive on disk 1 has more than 2.7 TB of unused space (I keep all data on a spare drive - not the computer), but I am unable to repartition to use this space as the C for programs, etc. How can I increase the size of drive E (Datadrive) using a portion of unused space in drive E greater than 2.7 to.

    Hi again rgh1,

It is good to hear from you!

The reason why your particular computer was equipped with a smaller than the hard disk drive is for quick loading and processing of the operating system. As the disc is an SSD means that the start-up will be generally faster than a typical hard drive!

To keep your system works effectively, without overloading the drive 0, you can use your E drive for storage of files, applications and games. For example, you can reinstall Steam on your computer hard disk of 2.7 TB. This can be done by navigating to a different destination folder on the E drive. For more information, you can also take a look at this document on install games in different places.

I hope this helps, and if you need further assistance, I would be very happy to give him!

Have a great rest of your day!

    Hello:

It is normal that the partition recovery disk is almost full, and you should never store other files on it.

The partion made just large enough to hold recovery files.

If you have stored files on the recovery partition, I recommend that move you elsewhere.
