  • Can I create a recovery bootable USB through disk utility?

My HARD drive is dying, I can't access my Macintosh HD partition anymore and I can't reinstall OS because I SMART errors. Before the format and reinstall the attempt to load slow my computer, random errors, etc. So I definitely think that the HARD drive is near death. My plan is to replace my HDD for a Virgin SSD, I perform this task several times on computers of the victory but for MAC, I wonder how I will load the new OS. Can I make a bootable USB with the recovery partition, but on a USB key tools? Unofrtunately I have more available Mac to create the USB bootable through itunes.

My computer is the MacBook Pro (13-inch mid 2010), I have also all original packaging somewhere, if there is a CD that I can use, I certainly can get too.

    Any advice?

    Thank you!

Apple have this to do a USB installation...

Create an installer for OS X - Apple support bootable

Another option is to use the diskmakerx.com application

You must have the OS installer downloaded to make these methods of work is probably not practice on your failed drive.

Both of these options are to run a 'normal' operating system too. The recovery partition is not 'normal '.

Another option is to use the Internet recovery mode if your Mac supports...

Computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery - Apple Support

On macOS recovery - Apple Support

Use wired ethernet for best results, since it will download a bootable OS & then download the installer of the OS also.

I suspect you have the update of the firmware installed to add this feature if it has been updated over the last 3 years

You may be able to generate a score of alternative recovery to another disk (such as a USB key) If you want to just "compensation of base OS.

OS X: on Recovery Disk Wizard - Apple Support

A last solution would be to clone your drive failing on an external drive (or use the new SSD in a proper case). That can be done in the modes of recovery via disk utility. Basically, you use a feature to "restore" to clone one volume to another. (I don't see clear instructions for the moment so ask if you want to pursue this option).

  • Create a Flash disk to USB 2.0 of recovery from a Flash disk to USB 3.0 of recovery

I'm 4-1050ca running Windows 7 x 64 Home Premium. I created a USB 3.0 drive Flash recovery only to discover that, although I can boot from the appliance when it is in a USB 3.0 port, I can't restore the system from it. This recovery Flash drive boot to the USB 2.0 port, and Yes, the HP recovery software complain of inability to use the recovery media.

I want to remedy. I would like to be able to start and restore from my USB 3.0 Flash drive recovery when it is plugged into a USB 3.0 port. Otherwise how can I duplicate the recovery on a USB 2.0 Flash Disk media?

I understand you want to take the drive to USB 3.0 recovery and put it on a drive USB 2.0 instead. This can be a bit of a tricky scenario because the Recovery Manager only helps bring.

That said, there is a utility called CloneZilla designed specifically for a drive to a second drive in the mirror.

This document is a very good guide on the use of CloneZilla to accomplish this task.

It is recommended to use the option of the image, but you would need the peripheral device option for your scenario.

You select the USB 3.0 as the source drive and the USB 2.0 as the target drive. Make sure you don't accidentally select the hard drive of the laptop as CloneZilla will wipe the drive target using peripheral device.

I note that I have not personally tried to clone a recovery USB disk. Given that only one set is allowed to do, I can't guarantee that the USB has not been modified to prevent this particular method. It is interesting to try.

  • creation of recovery on USB flash drive image occupy space drive (C).

Hi friends, I have a computer hp laptop with window 8 preinstalled. Today, I created a USB stick 32 GB recovery image. In the image of disk recovery pen occupy about 21 GB, but the strange thing is that this process also occupy my equal to 21 GB of disk space (C). Before creating recovery USB key image, my free memory from the disk (C) was 60 GB free but after creating it, drive (C) reduced to 40 GB memory. Is this normal or has done, I made a mistake. If it is not normal that how I can release these 20 and 21 GB on my drive (C).

Process that I followed to create recovery image- as indicated by the hp guide
HP Recovery Manager > under the heading- (I liked to take the measure of security), I chose "recovery media creation
and follow the instructions on the screen... and successfully created the recovery USB Flash key. But my drive (C) breaks down. I don't understand why this is happening because I provided the window 8 with 32 GB USB key to create the recovery image then why there are also equal space on drive (C).
Please help me friends how free up my space of 21 GB drive (C).       Thank you...

  • My concerns about installing ESXi on a USB Flash Disk

    Hello!

There was a lot of messages about installing esxi hypervisor on a usb flash drive, what I've done and I think it's ok because there's no need to waste expensive disks for installation of a very light bone

But I have a few questions and concerns in this regard. appreciate your answers.

1 - first of all I can't find my DL380 G7 Server internal usb. can someone give me a link or a picture where he is exactly?

2 - Suppose that after boot completely the host, something happens on the usb drive. If nothing happens? I think there should be nothing to worry about, because the hypervisor has been loaded into the memory of the server. Am I wrong?

3 - my concern is to have backup and the ability to restore that very quickly. some time in the past I had a single esxi host. I used powercli and commands appropriate for configuration backup host (I think that the command was something like esx-cfgbackup or like that).

so if the flash has been corrupted, I would replace it with another and restored the settings that

but now I host 4 esxi and vcenter. should I worry about this? How should I have backup? I know that SQL backup database of vcenter and its certificate is sufficient to have a backup of the settings of vcenter but on those who are just to vcenter and which are on the host? just want to say, what should I do to be able to replace a faulty usb disk (esxi is on it) with a new and all get back to work as it was?

Sorry if the questions are easy to answer. I'm just a beginner

and sorry for my bad English

Assuming that I don't have the license for the host profiles, what should I do?

It depends on the complexity of the configuration of the host. You can back up the configuration of the individual hosts or just reconfigure reinstalled once. In a larger environment, you'd probably for example the hosts scripted installation.

Because the server vCenter Server usually runs as a virtual machine, it is a good idea to do an image based backup (using backup vDR or 3 rd-party applications), and - in the case where you use a dedicated SQL Server - certainly back up the database. For the backup and restoration of vCenter Server, you can also take a look at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1023985.

In the rare cases where an SD card fails, you can always vMotion virtual machines to another host and then reinstall the host with a new SD card.

  • error 0x8007045D to USB Flash Disk

I have a 8 GB USB key. I want to copy the installer of Windows 7 for my USB to my Windows Vista Home Premium. In the half of the copy, reported an error 0x8007045D (i/o Error). I try Windows 7, reported in too. Why?

Start safe mode and see if you can copy from there successfully.

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

If the same problem happens on both computers using different operating systems, it is not likely the computers.  That's what you try to copy or the USB key.  What is the size of the file?  What USB drive formatted and how much space is available?  You can copy other files of the same size without problems or they all fail - try a couple of check.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • How to recover a W7 OS on the new HARD disk USB flash drive?

I have my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop friends. HARD drive have a lot of bad sectors, but it was fun to do:

    • a copy of the image of recovery dell USB flash drive via Dell Backup and Recovery Application
    • a copy of the very important files
    • and a copy of the 2 partitions to each image using Acronis True Image application file:
    1. FAT16 Pri 39, 19 MB FS: FAT16 Partition: 0xde (EISA configuration)
    2. Pri, Act 14.65 GB NTFS RECOVERY

RECOVERY partition have the same content, such as a usb flash drive with I used to do a recovery Dell image.

If she buys a new drive HARD this what should I do/use to recover Windows 7 from a USB?

PS. I have nothing to lose and I try to play with the hard drive has failed.
First of all I do partition of LBA 0 to 80 GB first where bad sectors and hide this partition.
Then I do these partitions 2 "dell" and the rest for system files.
Then I recover these partitions of 2 "dell" using Acronis True Image.
Then I use a usb flash drive to recover Windows 7, it retrieves for maybe 10 seconds and he said that, please restart.
When it shows BOOTMGR is missing, press ctrl + alt + delete and now I see only 2 partitions labeled OS ~ 298 GB and RECOVERY ~ 2 GB.

    The problem is resolved.

The best solution is to use ImageX 2.0 to extract file Factory.wim partition RECOVERY or USB flash drive. Just search on google. New installation of operating system is also an option - I know about it. Fortunately, this Dell factory contains no useless software.

    Thanks for all the help!

  • Love at first sight and disk utility

    Hello

With the old version of disk utility, I could start in the repair using the command + R section, click disk utility, and then copy my computer perfect HD over to another Mac connected via Thunderbolt and in target disk mode. This process took about 7 minutes. Is it possible to do it again? Use the migration wizard is not a viable option because it takes over 30 minutes to copy it to the users and applications and I have several computer at image Labs.

You try to restore your hard drive to another on a target machine?     If so, you can always do this.   Reboot from Recovery HD and use disk utility.  To 1 restore another disc, you select 1st target drive.  Then on the Edit menu, select Restore.  Then in the drop-down list, select the source drive.  If you love at first sight, this should go pretty fast.

  • HP Elitedesk 800 G2 SFF: external hard drive not detected in the BIOS. Only USB Flash drives are detected.

    Hi all

I received recently 2 new HP desktop computers.

    HP Elitedesk 800 G2 SFF

    HP Elitedesk 800 G2 TWR

The goal is to test our real W7 x 64 image on these machines and to inject the missing drivers in the image.

MDT 2010 to create a deployment on a USB hard disk drive.

This disc of deployment is already used on 16 different models of HP in the company (Elitebook, zBook, EliteDesk) to install our image so I know it works.

Unfortunately, the two HP Elitedesk 800 G2, I can't start the boot disk but I cannot to USB for a USB key.

The USB drive is not detected and not proposed in the BIOS Menu of STARTUP.

Only the internal HD, external USB Flash Disk, DVD and network devices are detected.

Here's what I already checked or tried:

    • Latest Version of the BIOS installed (2.05)
    • UEFI Boot has been disabled. (not supported by our record of deployment)
    • USB ports are enabled (front and rear).
    • All types of USB devices are allowed in the BIOS
    • The start command has been changed to start with USB devices.
    • Legacy support is active and Secure Boot disabled
    • Delete the keys to secure boot
    • Reset secure by default startup keys
    • This morning, I created a new disk deployment on a USB Flash drive and it works!

So, it seems that only Flash USB drives are detected.

I know it is possible to return the flag removalble on a USB device to cheat the system and make it appear as a disk fixed, but I want a simple solution.

Does anyone know a fix or a workaround for this problem?

    Thanks in advance!

For those interested in the answer, here's the final results.

It turns out that the hard 500 GB external drive can be detected if it is fomatted in FAT32.

It's strange because my 16 GB USB Flash drive formatted in NTFS works very well.

In any case, I'll create a FAT32 Partition to the Boot MDT files and put my picture (because the file is too big for FAT32 partition) on the secondary partition (formatted as NTFS).

Thanks to the technical pre-sales team of HP who helped me with this!

How to port HP_recovery in car to my flash drive?

    Windows 7 x 64, HP G62-144DX

    Hello:

I can't help you with this specific issue, but if you can get it is resolved and you can read the product key 25 character Microsoft Windows on the bottom of your PC, do your own installation of W7 media to reinstall W7.

    Here's how:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Online recovery process is frozen to the installation of the Flash Card Utility

Following an attack of serious virus a month ago, my computer ended up with at least a corrupted user file. Efforts to correct without great expense may have hurt rather than helped - it is difficult to know what does what.

Until two days ago, I was faced with three distinct start-up, two partial process and a normal (usually first start in the morning). One of the partial featured no connection. The other managed to connect, but not with the document data.

After a normal boot, if for some reason, the computer fell asleep or has been disabled, it has not started normally for the rest of the day, except on rare occasions, seemingly random.

Two days ago Windows began to send messages that Windows 7 has to be reinstalled. Once it does automatically search and correction process. Subsequently, the message became, you may be victim of illegitimate (or Word like this) Windows software.

On a forum this morning, I came across the steps in a process of recovery Toshiba DIY (no cd or usb) and has begun. Everything went along well for about half an hour, going from one thing to another, sometimes restart. But the process now seems to be frozen. For about 40 minutes, the installation was on Toshiba Flash Card Utility - 10/80.

I followed the direction does not stop somehow. I really don't think it's still going to complete recovery successfully.

It is I think that all I could do just end the installation and I'll be back where I was before, but without anything left on my laptop.

I called Toshiba Support (I'm out of warranty) and the person to whom I spoke and his supervisor, do not seem to have any idea of what could be done, but knew I had to talk to a person "out of warranty". I have to pay their fees, but the only one I think that options are available to me are 1) do nothing and see if the recovery work always or 2 (repeat the recovery.

Can anyone offer an alternative to $200 at Best Buy?
    .

There is a mistake in the background which you can cancel and continue the recovery.

Press ALT + TAB to display the error dialog box, close it.
