Redundancy of interconnection of private CARS

Hi all

We create (implementation will be later) a database of CARS of 2 nodes with IG with the version 12.1.0.2 and RDBMS-S/W, have the 11.2.0.4 version.

We want to make it private redundant interconnection but sysadmin doesn't have two same channels of bandwidth, it gives two NICs (Giga bit Ethernet) 10GbE and 1Gbe respectively.

I got to know only 1 Gbe is sufficient for GHG and GCS but will this work of fine architecture means no damage to have 2 different channels of bandwidth also failure of 10 GbE interface well there will be performance degradation.

Thank you

Hemant.

DO NOT use two bandwidths of different network for your Cluster of interconnection. With two physical network adapters, you will use the collage of NIC or HAIP, the latter being recommended by Oracle Corp. Since you use 12 c. In both cases, there will also be two NICS. In other words, part of the traffic to the private network will be "slower" than the rest of the traffic. Run you the risk of having some performance issues with this configuration.

Also... There are two reasons for implementing several cards Cluster of interconnection network, performance and high availability. I addressed this above performance. On the side of HA, double NIC means that if one channel fails, the other channel is available and the cluster may remain operational. There is a law of the universe that says if you have a side 10gE and 1gE on the other side, you have a 99% chance that if one channel fails, it will be the 10gE one.   This means that you don't have enough bandwidth on the remaining channels.

See you soon,.

  • Fabric of interconnection in the care of the CF NPIV Switch mode? If anyone can confirm?

    Hello

I'm working on a scenario where a client will make Direct Attach Storage for a pair of UCS fabric of interconnections. It will also need to connect a device of backup based on the CF to the FI. So let's run the s FI mode Switch CF.

There apparently is a virtual machine on the blades which must have virtual HBA running in order to access their specific LUN.

The question is whether the fabric interconnect (version 2.1(3b)) will support NPIV when running in the FC switch mode. Or the GUI or CLI Configuration guide mentions this, and I have not any FI to connect to check.

Can anyone confirm this, either by pointing to a URL where it can be clarified or by connecting a FI Switch FC mode and by:

  • 11 GR 2 RAC - NIC or the use of redundant interconnection of liaison - what is the best

    Hello

We are planning for an implementation of the RAC 11 GR 2. For older versions of oracle < 11 GR 2, collage of NIC is the preferred method for redundancy of interconnection. Oracle 11 g 2 has the new feature of 'Redundant Interconnect use' for the interconnection redundancy.

Although oracle 11 GR 2 supporing NIC boning, would like to know which is the best option to go with?

    Hello

Use of interconnection of Redundanct was introduced with 11.2.0.2.
But to enjoy it, you also need a 11.2.0.2 databases and upward.

If this is the case, then the redundant use of interconnection is highly recommended, it is more flexible and versatile, as the simple collage of NIC because it loads of failover and balancing at the same time (which NIC binding cannot do). If I prefer to go with the new feature.

If you are still running the old databases with 11.2 grid infrastructure you should stay with NIC good collage...

  • How to configure the private network interface between two VMS os invited using red hat linux

    Hello:

I'm trying to set up a Real Application Cluster on my home office so that I can install Oracle 11 g RAC which is a facility where you have two servers accessing the same shared of storage (chipboard).

In addition they will have a network interface private and a public network interface, so it will be for public interface eth0 and eth1 for interconnection of private networks.

I read that I can set up using VMWare server, create Virtual Machines and install the operating system invited to them.

I intend to install Red Hat Linux guest OS.

My question is basically, how can I do for the establishment of the private network eth1, will be the guest OS to automatically install the sense (do I need to have 2 NIC cards for this), or where and how can this be configured?

Also, how these two speeches of Virtual Machines to another on the private interconnect?

And is it possible to use DHCP or do I need to add the IP addresses manually?

Very grateful for your contribution to this topic, thank you.

    Kind regards

    Sam

You can have network private without assigning a NIC cards (adapt).

    Hope this helps

", unlock the drive and try again later", can someone please help me or this way to solve this problem...?

    Thanks in advance...

    Hello preveen99 ;

I read your post about the upgrade problems Win10 and wanted to help.

If your friend is to choose a partition for the upgrade, from a list displayed by the installer, they make the upgrade in the wrong way.

The upgrade of Win10 is designed to be run, even from USB, from the INSIDE and the existing installation of Win7/8/8.1.  When this is done, you select the USB drive in Windows Explorer and do a right click on the file setup.exe in the folder root of the USB.  Who will start the process of upgrade - and you will NOT give the choice of a partition because it doesn't like that. If your friend is booting from the USB key, it won't work.

Also, since MS only recently updated Win10 to version 1511, I suggest that your installation media NEW download fried using the tool of media (MCT) from following link: install Windows 10 using the media - Windows help authoring tool

    Good luck

  • Grep for styling the second occurrence of a Word

    Hi all

I'm putting a dictionary for children.

    name of the bicycle

a vehicle with two wheels in tandem, usually propelled by pedals attached to the rear wheel by a chain and have the handlebars for steering and a saddlelike seat. • Some find it faster to ride a bicycle and weaving through cars to take the bus or drive a private car.

I managed to match the first occurrence of the bicycle to the second (underlined below) using the following grep.

    (?:^( \w+).+\r.+(\r.+)?) (\1)

    bike noun

a vehicle with two wheels in tandem, usually propelled by pedals attached to the rear wheel by a chain and having the steering handlebars and a seat saddlelike. • some found it quicker to mount a bike and weaving through cars to take the bus or drive a private vehicle.

This grep (that which) works as expected in the dictionary, but now I need to be able to select only the second word (in italics and in red in the example above) to be able to give him the correct character style.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Question about V$ CLUSTER_INTERCONNECTS

    Hallo,

    Oracle® database 10 g Release 2 (10.2) a reference part number B14237-01.
V$ CLUSTER_INTERCONNECTS.IS_PUBLIC values can be defined in such a way:

+ If the value is YES, the interface is known to the public.
If the value is NO, the interface is known to be private. Note that if the CLUSTER_INTERCONNETS initialization parameter is also specified, then it is expected that interconnection is private. Oracle expects this cluster traffic to be run on private interconnections only.

f the value is empty, it is not known if the interface is public or private.

Oracle Corporation recommends to define the interface of communication Real Application Clusters (RAC) in the repository of Cluster Oracle (OCR). +

So what does that mean "If the value is YES, the interface is known to the public? Where Oracle does it take this information?
Interconnection be 'known to the general public' does

    Thank you

The "private part" of the private network Oracle simply means that this network doesn't have to be routable to the rest of your network. No commucation on this network happens outside of the cluster.

If you could put your network private while Vlan 100 for example and put your front-end in Vlan 1. You must route between the two. Only nodes in the cluster must speak on OPN.

The 10.x.x.x address are simply private IP addresses - as they are not routable on the public internet. They can be sent to your internal corporate network if you configure your router to forward them. But they need not be.

  • Promt dashboard: force and custom filter

    Hello world

I have a few quick questions particular dashboard.

    1. I have a dashboard invites the style and the color of a car. The color depends on the style of the car, or you choose a different style, only certain colors are available. So, in order to limit the color shown, I checked the checkbox 'keep '. In addition, style and color are based on which car you look at. My requirement is that each car in a separate dashboard page since we have only 4 cars. Users do not want to be invited on the car, they want it have been shortlisted. From there, each specific page should be the prompt for the style and color, and this prompt should be limited based on the car for this page.

Ideally, I would like to start the guest of dashboard with the car, it by default the value corresponding to this page, then hide this 1 piece of the prompt but view the two other parts (style/color). Is it possible to hide part of a command prompt? I found the CSS code to hide a prompt together, but I've not found a way to simply hide a field in a command prompt. If I could hide the first part of the command prompt, then it would make my life easier.

    2. because I could not hide the first part of the command prompt, I tried to write the SQL results option to limit the style and color based on the correct car. This worked very well, but because that I'm just limiting SQL results on the type of car, when updating the selection of style, the choice of colors is forced/updated. In order to get around this, I had the choice of style to define a variable of presentation and then filtered the color based on this variable of presentation section. It worked almost except it turns out that the variable of presentation that he not updated until the go button is pushed. Users won't have to hit the button go first, then select the color, then click on the button go again. Is there a way of forcing a field in a one-time DB on a previous field and also to define the custom SQL? Does anyone know how the constraint check box so that I can do the same thing in the section custom SQL?

    3. assuming that options 1 and 2 can be done. I tried a third option. I created a command prompt of dashboard for each car type and set the default value for each of them to the appropriate car. Then placed the car inside guest of own Section and set the CSS on SCREEN: NO. This effectively hides my guest of car users. Then I had my dashboard style prompt and visible color, but I made sure that the style and color had the 'force' check box selected. I was hoping that a check constraint would require dash of style-color prompt to be filtered by the guest of dashboard of car hidden... no dice.

Is there a way to force a quick dashboard by another?

Can anyone recommend a more elegant solution to my problem?

    Thanks for the help!

    -Joe

Try a simpler approach to this problem. You don't want users to have a prompt to select a car, Yes? Everything after it works, Yes?

Ok. Create a "Table of contents page. What I mean is the following: first of all, create your four pages of dashboard specifically for each car with the syle and guests of color restricted properly with reports filtered to the private car. You have done this.

Now, create a fifth dashboard page that will be the first page a user sees. Instead of guests, use the Image object or the link to display the links to four pages, labels with the names of the four cars. You can doll this page up with your company logo, etc, and everything that the user sees is the four cars. When a link 'car' is selected, it takes them to this particular report and that they can start to 'customize' their choice of car using the guests of style and color.

  • NICs for redundancy private interconnection

    Version of DB/grid: 11.2.0.2
    Platform: AIX 6.1

We will install a RAC 2 nodes on AIX (that thing that is almost good as Solaris)

    Our primary private interconnection is
    ### Primary Private Interconnect
    169.21.204.1      scnuprd186-privt1.mvtrs.net  scnuprd186-privt1
    169.21.204.4      scnuprd187-privt1.mvtrs.net  scnuprd187-privt1
For redundancy of the inteconnect Cluster, Unix team has attached an additional NIC for each node with an additional Gigabit ethernet switch for these cards.

###Redundant Private Interconnect attached to the server

    169.21.204.2      scnuprd186-privt2.mvtrs.net  scnuprd186-privt2  # Node1's newly attached redundant NIC
    169.21.204.5      scnuprd187-privt2.mvtrs.net  scnuprd187-privt2  # Node2's newly attached redundant NIC
Example borrowed from the post of citizen2

Apparently, I have 2 ways to implement redundancy of cluster inteconnect

Option1. NIC binding at the OS level
Option2. Let the grid software to do

Question1. What is the best: Option 1 or 2?

    Question2.
    With regard to option 2.
Googling and OTN, I believe that, during the installation of the grid provide you just 169.21.204.0 to inteconnect to cluster and grid will identify the redundant NIC and switch. And if something goes wrong with the installation of primary interconnection (above), grid automatically réacheminera interswitching traffic using the redundant NIC configuration. Is this correct?

    Question 3.
My colleague told me, to the redundant switch (Gigabit) unless I have set up some multicast (specific AIX), I might get errors during installation. He has not clearly what it was? Anyone in front of multicast related question on this?

    Hello

My recommendation is you use the AIX EtherChannel.
The EtherCannel of AIX is much more powerful and stable compared to HAIP.

See how to configure AIX EtherChannel on 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces
    http://levipereira.WordPress.com/2011/01/26/setting-up-IBM-power-systems-10-Gigabit-Ethernet-ports-and-AIX-6-1-EtherChannel-for-Oracle-RAC-private-interconnectivity/

If you choose to use HAIP I recommend to read this note and find all the notes on the bugs of HAIP on AIX.

11 GR 2 Grid Infrastructure redundant Interconnect and ora.cluster_interconnect.haip [1210883.1 ID]

ASM crashes as HAIP Does not failover when two or more private network fails [1323995.1 ID]

    On the multicast, read:
Infrastructure 11.2.0.2 grid or upgrade installation may fail because of the requirement of multicast [1212703.1 ID]

  • Oracle RAC private interconnectivity problem

    Hello

We set up Oracle RAC on RHEL 6.5.

Our reference document is "deployment Oracle RAC 11 g R2 Database on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6" verion 1.0 of Red Hat Reference Architecture Series.

    According to the document.

Two subnets have been used for interconnectivity.

    Two physical switches were used.

    rac.png

My Question: I see that there is a connection between two switches. What is the purpose of this link?

Please let me know example of configuration of Private Switch A and Switch B private.

    Thank you.

    Sajeeva.

Because its use of redundant interconnection function because the function HAIP is officially called would say that networks need to be in different subnets. So, if we ignore the diagram above we'll finish with the following configuration:

eth1 of each server that is running on the same subnet:

    Server1 - 10.0.1.1

    Server2 - 10.0.1.2

eth2 of each server that is running on the same subnet:

    Server1 - 10.0.2.1

    Server2 - 10.0.2.2

FAQ for IP highly available (HAIP) for version 11.2 (Doc ID 1664291.1):

"Each NIC is defined as a cluster interconnect (using oifcfg setif) on a given node will have a static ip address assigned to it and each cluster NIC interconnection on a given node must be on a single subnet."

The only advantage I see of HAIP, is that all your interfaces are active at all times where as with collage will be you almost end up with an active/passive configuration.

    Kind regards

  • Oracle 10g RAC - private interconnection on VLAN not routable private

There is in our data center existing Oracle 10g RAC configured with VLAN private interconnection managed by a different group of DBA.

We create a new, separate Oracle 10 g RAC environment to support our request.

When we discussed with our data center people to set up a local VIRTUAL private network for our CARS of interconnection, they suggest to use the same VLAN used by the other Oracle RAC configurations existing private. In this case the IPs of interconnection will be on the same subnet as the other Oracle RAC configurations.

    For example, if
RAC1 with 2 nodes use 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 in the VLAN_1 for the Interconect, they want us to use the same VLAN_1 with interconnecting IP 192.168.1.3 and 192.168.1.4 to our 2 node RAC.

Share the same subnet on the same private VLAN for the interconnection of different configurations of RAC, supported?
Which will cause a drop in performance? This means the IPs of a RAC interconnect configuration is to pings from other RAC configuration.

    Someone met with such purpose?

Could not find any info on it on Metalink.

    Thank you

    Yes
It is practically very doable... as you would have only 4 m/c in subnet ip... and it is much less than the public subnet that we should abstain from interconnection.
