Reference DELL Modular Disk Storage Manager cannot see MD36xxf because of the version of the firmware to high

I have a DELL MD3600f that is connected to a DELL R710. The system was all the installation and work programme, but the OS disk has become corrupted and had to be rebuilt. The system has not all backups, because it was still under construction. The problem is that a system administrator updated the Firmware on the MD3600f to the 07.80.41.60 version. According to the notes the versoin of DELL PowerVault MD Series Storage Software Resource DVD 3.0.0.18 or later must be installed before update the RAID controller firmware.

Problem is the update of the firmware is already in place and the MD storage software cannot talk to the MD3600f now because of the correspondence of Miss firmware.

No matter how lucky it is a updated software storage MD there? I tried low grade firmware, but that has been denied.

Why not give the link to the latest version; 4.1.0.88?

  • Modular Disk Storage Manager

We are decommissioning of an old server hosting the Modular Disk Storage Manager software and I was wondering if there is a procedure to move it to another host.  Is there a way to copy/export configuration and import it to the new host?

The configuration is stored on the MD table itself. The only thing that is stored on the server's IP SAN network addresses, so that he knows where to find.

So you can just download the last DVD of MD resources for your San, install it on the new server, leave the auto discover table and confirm you can see everything. Once you feel comfortable that it looks good, you can retire the other server (uninstall MDSM or just format the old server).

    Someone help here?

Julian, my problem is very similar, though different because I use Veeam.  Here is what I posted on the forums of Veeam - if all goes well, it will help you

Looks like the solution is to uninstall the 'SmVssProvider' who, when running "vssadmin list providers", is listed as:

    The provider name: "SmVssProvider."

    Provider type: hardware

    Provider ID: {24e4e8a3-69cb-4370-8b7b-c5276cd49765}

    Version: 10.84.02

This service is launching the premium add-on snapshot service that you can buy for the MD by Dell line. If you do not buy it, you don't need this provider. (for as far as I understand it at least)

To uninstall this provider, navigate to the folder in the folder storage uninstall VDS - VSS MD. By default, it is at:

C:\Program Files (x 86) \Dell\MD Storage Software\VDS_VSS\Uninstall Modular Disk Storage Hardware Provider (* BE CAREFUL here and double check your path.) There is more than one with a similar path and name.* uninstall program)

Once inside this folder, run the "uninstall modular disk storage hardware Provider.exe.

Note that the uninstall program is very rudimentary - there is no GUI or confirmation that it's over. The file and the service will simply disappear.

This will remove the "SmVssProvider" and the corresponding Windows services:

'Modular disk storage hardware provider' (SMPROVIDER1. EXE - identical to SmProv ~ 1.exe).

In my case, service of 'Modular disk storage hardware provider' has been set to start "Automatic", although it did not work, so I was unable to uninstall the provider without stopping I/O or disruption to my VMs. There is no restart request either. Although YMMV so proceed with caution.

  • vShield manager cannot see some virtual guests

Recently, we have built a new vSphere 5.1 environment and installing vShield endpoint Manager 5.1.2 - 943471.

Installed the endpoint on the hosts and the Kapersky Security Appliances to each host. I started to migrate virtual environment 4.1 existing to the new environment.

Improved vmware tools in the virtual machine as part of the process and removed the existing antivirus checker. The endpoint vSheild Manager reports that the thin driver is installed on all but a few virtual methods that are not reported by the slim agent vShield as Manager. They are listed in the left column, but when you look at the endpoint events that are not like the others? Before you begin to migrate all about I need to be certain that all virtual methods at least are protected.

I checked each guest to ensure that the driver has been installed and running using msinfo32 and are looking for the driver vfilefilter it checked good also I can confirm that virtual methods are running supported SCSI adapters. Something else to check?

Just a update for it tried a few other servers and they they also have same problem. Have uninstalled and reinstalled vmware tools with the vshield driver installed, but still do not see the virtual server.

    Kind regards

    Jason.

Response of the virtual, which is where are not not in Manager of vShield or on version 4 of a previous update ESX3.5 material. Once we upgraded the virtual DJ we can now seem to them

  • MD Storage Manager client not to proceed with the installation

    Hello

I have a problem when you install the Client of MD Storage Manager on a PC of the V6 management resources DVD, it comes to managing the Dell Powervault MD3620F. I tried to install the Management Station only on a PC running Windows 8.1 U1, there are no errors during installation, but only the utility of Configuration of MD GET installed, not the Storage Manager.

Also, I tried to install this on a host running Windows Server 2008 R2 that is connected to the PowerVault but again once the Configuration utility is installed and there is no mistake as to why the Storage Manager client has been ignored. Version 10.84.G6.54 has already been installed on this system without any problems. There are balls I can look at to resolve the problems why Storage Manager is not installing, are there prerequisites that I could miss?

    See you soon

    Hello gbstjem,

Here's what you need to do.  Open the CD or ISO file. Navigate to the windows folder on the CD-ROM. go to MDSM, then select the SMIA-winx64 file. On your Windows 8.1 system go to the folder of the MDSM and then select the file SMIA-winx64 & replace it. So try & run the file again to see if it opens correctly.

  • Toshiba Kira - Win 8.1 cannot see all files on the 64 GB flash drive

    Hi all

Newbie on this forum. I just bought the i5 8 GB of RAM Windows 8.1 Kira Ultrabook, a great little machine.

I have a SanDisk 64 GB flash drive that has about 20 GB on it in a dozen files. These folders and the content can be seen by my Windows 7 PC, even my mobile phone and Tablet Tower.

However, the Kira cannot see both files, even if in the properties of the drive, he sees the space correctly. Turned on all folders and no difference.
My wife has a 32 GB flash - no problem.

I reformatted the flash disk, run a virus on the disk and the Kira. The Kira can someone verify the maximum size flash can see it please? I can't find it in any documentation.

Any help or suggestions appreciated - I ran support Toshiba without a response, so maybe someone here can help you.

The appearance of the folder is not in your laptop model or your system!

I recommend you to check some common view windows Explorer settings:

    (1) to see the hidden files and folders reported as
Click the view tab, and then click Show hidden files and folders.

    (2) to display all the system files that are usually hidden from view.
Click on the view tab, and then clear the Hide protected operating system files check box.

Here you will find all the information about the folder views and behavior

  • Cannot see other computers on the network

    Am on XP SP3.
When I go to network connections,
    Right-click on local area network
Click Properties under the general tab,
Click on install and click Service
.. all I see is a list for a McAfee driver but nothing for Microsoft. I removed my computer some time ago with McAfee & he must have created problems that I can't see other computers on the network. Is there a Microsoft driver, I need to install and which will help to solve the problem of not seeing other computers on the network.

On the general tab of the properties of your network connection to the LAN card, you should see a box under the heading "this connection uses the following items."  Most Windows XP configurations for home use have 4 entries in this box: Client for Microsoft Networks, QoS Packet Scheduler, file sharing and printers for Microsoft Networks, and Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol.

If you don't have these, you need to install, even if you really need not the Scheduler of QoS packages.

You seem to have got almost to the right place, but be aware that when you click on the button 'Install' in the box, you are given 3 choices: customer, Service and Protocol.  The "Client for Microsoft networks" is obviously a "customer." 'Internet (TCP/IP) Protocol' is a 'Protocol' and the other two are "Services".

    What elements you have installed?

  • Cannot see any info in the properties of Windows Vista "Options" window

Why the property window is not extensible to see all the info and the options open to it? I thought I read somewhere that the font size must be reduced, but I do not see an item in the list that applies to "windows properties" in the area of advanced appearance settings/personalization aspect.

Coincidentally, I just did a lot of research and wrote a post on the IPR-related issues.  Windows 7 and 8.0 has continued to use the same Windows Vista DPI capabilities, but many improvements have been made to better address from Windows 8.1.  However I got frustrated with it and describe other ways to address here: http://cmdrkeene.com/dpi-scaling-with-multi-monitor

  • Cannot see other computers on the network of the office.

I can't see other computers on the network from my office, but if I type in \\xxxxxxxxxxx I'm able to get on the other computers on the network. How can I have them automatically appear?

I'm terribly sorry for wasting your time.

I realized what the problem was. I've implemented the new computer exactly as the old, same name and everything. Come and find the computer name of the computer being the same as the old conflict and did not again see what was on the network.

So the trick was unplug the old computer from the network.
