Refund of am. Is it also a scam?

I just got a phone call from am saying that their technical service closed after I had signed for a supposed contract five years that they wanted to repay the £250 I had paid. (I've actually paid £92,55 in September 2011)  They call me back tomorrow because I won't let them take control of my new pc and want to reconnect my old one if possible. I'd like some advice.  It is also a scam?

Yes.

  • Beware of the refund policy for the electronic funding/e-gift card from HP

I recently bought a dv6t and looked forward to happen. This computer arrived damaged and I had to send it back immediately. The exchange of treatment was so painful and frustrating it is doubtful I will be never buy another product from HP. I used a combination of HP credit card ($1000 credit limit) and electronic gift card to make the purchase. The reason why I used a gift card was my total purchase exceeded the credit limit of $1000 and HP would not take a credit card (credit or debit) to complete the transaction. I was told that my ONLY recourse was to buy and ask for a gift card from HP. After arrival with the computer screen damage I decided that I wanted a full refund because the audio was also very poor and I didn't like how this computer sounded at all. I was told that I was obliged to complete the transaction with the gift voucher is NOT REFUNDABLE! I felt that I was being held hostage as my gift card was over $500. I think it's a totally fraudulent way of doing business and for my part will think very hard never to do business with HP again. It's a shame because I've always liked the HP product and I have been a loyal customer for many years, having spent thousands of dollars at HP. I was ashamed of HP for the way they dealt with my problem. I was told that I could still use the e-gift card that I was "stuck" that now for other HP products. Why would I do this after getting scammed by buying the e-gift card in the first place. I finally finished and re - placed an order for a 2nd laptop, but this will probably be my last relationship with HP. They are a great company to deal with until something is not, then the customer may be left holding the bag or in this case, the e-gift card!

My messages are in my humble opinion based on 30 years of technical industry experience.
If my opinion helped, please respond with a KUDOS. If this is not the case then please rephrase the question, my opinion could change (smiles). When the hearing hoof beats in the distance, first think horses, not zebras.

HP DISCLAIMS ANY form of additional funding other than a gift card from HP when the purchase involves HP E-financing credit card. In other words, if I use my credit card of HP and I have enough line of credit for a transaction, the ONLY other form of funding that they will pay the difference is a gift card from HP. No Visa, no Master Card, not American Express, etc... Gift card ONLY. Believe me, I've exhausted this issue in detail. The only combination accepted when you use your credit card of HP is a HP combination of gift cards / credit card. You can combine nothing else than a gift card with their E-financing (credit card of HP). No more credit cards not authorized HP gift card/cheque ONLY.  It was my point worldwide and is the reason why I think it's a way to get the customer to 'use' a gift card.

  • I received 3 phone calls informing me that Windows Defender is hurting my computer and they will refund my money.

I received 3 phone calls informing me that Windows Defender is hurting my computer and they will refund my money. He also wants me to turn on my computer... I put him up until I can get the information... is it a hoax?  Thanks for any help...

    Hello

Windows Defender is the antivirus integrated in Windows 8/8.1/10 and do NOT harm your computer.

    It protects your computer.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Here's the advice I give on this type of phone calls:

    It's a scam.

We have all the errors and warnings in our Event Viewer, which is another ploy they use to scare you

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

You are the only person who knows if you gave them remote access.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

    Read this Information from Microsoft:

"Avoid scams to phone for tech support.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Don't be fooled of unsolicited calls. Don't provide personal information.

Here are some of the organizations that cyber criminals claim to come:

    • Helpdesk Windows

    • Windows repair center

    • Microsoft technical support

    • Microsoft technical support

    • Windows Support Group Technical Department

  • Phone call saying that I am entitled to a refund?

Today I received a phone call from a man with an Indian accent calling himself Andy Smith. He said he was calling from the "Centre de Service Windows", its identification number has been WT0208 (standing WT for Windows technical) he told me that I was entitled to a refund of $241 AUS and I thought scam? But I went with it, he made me get this link off www.teamviewer.com and open it and then tell him the ID and the password, then forced me to go to Western union and click on send money. At this point, I thought "wow take a minute now, why I send money when I'm the one to receive the refund? He said that, because I've been connected to them through teamviewer to send them, I had to make an account and have at least 300 books in my account. At this point, I got really over and told him do not call me again and hung up.

I'm sure it was a scam, but I just wanted to check, someone else had the same?

Hello this message comes from the Netherlands. My mother-in-law received a call from the same 'gentleman', a man of Indian sounding named Andy, who told him that she could not use his laptop computer, but that he would help her through difficulties. Luckely my mother-in-law had the sense to say; I'll call my son in law and you can call in 5 minutes back. I get in a few minutes and the 'gentleman', called once again, he talked to my mother in law and she said. Here's someone for you. So I told the man, I was of the Dutch police, cubercrime and wanted his full name and company name. No No, he wanted to talk to Mrs....? . He didn't know the name of my mother in law. So I asked him again for his name and company and that he stopped the call. His name was Andy from Microsoft and he called a number in Holland 0243840015. When I tried to call this number it responds. I think the number is used as a decoy. Maybe someone can do something with this information.

  • I became a victim of a scam.

Original title: Roborant Tech Support: SCAM

Previously, I submitted a question. The company should be Roborant Tech Support. The company without my permission recorded two charges on my credit card for a total of $404,00. They said that my computer was infected and that they would solve the problems. The computer still did not work properly and I contacted Guruaid. They found more than 404 questions they corrected at a modest price. Roborant claims also join moy. Support toll-free number does not work in the Canada. Guruaid also discovered that malicious files have been discovered that have been recently added.

    Larry

    Larry,

If you think that you might have downloaded malware to a phone tech support website scam or authorized a cybercriminal to gain access to your computer, follow these steps:

    • Change password of your computer, change the password on your main email account and the password for all the accounts financiers, especially your credit cards and credit.

    • Scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner to find out if you have malicious software installed on your computer.

    • Install Microsoft Security Essentials. (Microsoft Security Essentials is a free software. If someone calls you to install this product and charge you it then, this is also a scam.)

How can you stop offering support for this SP1? In any case I tried to install the SP1 of Windows for a few years. I tried the solution to stop the update service, and then remove the temporary update files. I can't open the folder of data storage. It shows datastore.edb, but is not a folder. I also bought a recording program hoping that would help. If there is a way more simple that would be too good.

First of all, I suggest STRONGLY you uninstall this registry program and never use again (and back for a refund if this is even possible).  Registry, boosters, fixers and other cleaners are very unwise and can often cause a lot of harm (to the point where the only option is a clean install0.  Vista did a great job on his own continuation of the registry (despite what scans of these sellers claiming - as there are 8000 errors that can repair their product).  In addition, many programs similar to the registry are actually malware in diguise and can infect your system, even if you analyze just it and worse still if you actually install it.  Many are also some scams to help you to buy the product but don't work really (or carry malware instead).  The deciion is yours, but this opinion is held by most, if not all the experts who post in this forum.

Regarding your problem with the installation of SP1, I'm sorry that they abandoned official for the upgrade support (although he still continues for SP2).  This is the wrong forum for this question - you need to speak with the specialists.  Please respost your question in Forum Windows Update: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads where the specialists of update (including SP1) will be more than happy to help you with your problem.  I'm sure there's a way to get installed it and they can help you find it.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Open iphone return

    Hi you all,.

I have a question to purchase the new iPhone SE. I'm expected to pre-order the new iPhone, but I don't know if I'm going, such as size or not. So I wonder: "Is it possible to return your iPhone once it is out of its packaging and booted up already and get a full refund?". Maybe one important thing to know: I live in Holland, so maybe the rules are different, maybe someone with experience or knowledge of the rules in my country. Also, I don't know about 14 days return of rules and I also read something about a seal of software, but I couldn't understand if it's legitimate or not to remove any plastic and try to use it...

    Thanks for answering my question!

If you buy directly from Apple, their return policy is 14 days for a full refund. If you buy also, you'd be subject to their policy, so you must be aware of this before you buy.

If you are already aware of the policy of 14 days, I'm not sure what your question is. It is no different in any other country. A purchase of Apple, is a purchase from Apple. Yet once, if you buy from someone else, then their policy is applied. You doubt any software is for purchases of individual software, not what is installed on the phone. You can open and test the phone.

  • I was contacted by a company to buy their software that will correct the 1633 corrupted files in my computer. He says that it is allowed by MS and could charge me $179. Is it necessary?

This company called me on my home phone and went through a lengthy introduction on how they could help my computer and would charge me 179.99 for this software.  The company said that whenever my computer is connected to the internet, these corrupt files affected the connection and slow down my computer. I want to know if I should try to fix this problem and should I go for help?

Not only this 'service' is not necessary, but it is also a scam. Immediately hang up the phone when you receive a call like that!

(there are other variants of these scams, those listed is of the examples)

  • False customer Dell technical support call

I received 3 calls from phishing to an offshore organization claiming to be Dell customer Suppor and tries to scam me for giving them access to my computer.

Monday, someone called me from the number 499-492-6931 and presented themselves as Sam, a Dell Technical Support, with an Indian accent. They explained on my Dell computer software they noticed that everything in is not infected my computer had received a number of attacks recently and to better protect what they wanted to do some features of Windows 'RUN' that may include typing "eventvwr" in the Run dialog box.

As she asked me to do this I Googled what she told me that I don't want unsolicited calls and immediately saw the warnings 'SCAM' in descriptions of all URLS that appear in the lists of Google. I told him I knew it was a scam and that I ended the call and hung up.

Apparently, they think that I'm very stupid, or now identified my number as a user of Dell PC and today I received two calls. Both of 800-254-1254. They have left a voice message that is involuntary where an Indian woman is laughing with his colleague on the first and 2, I replied and told her that I knew she was trying to rip me off and she hung up immediately.

I don't know if Dell can work with the telephone companies to block these calls, and maybe try to see who owns to chase these people. They are now an embarrassment to me because they have my number and ask me repeatedly.  Unfortunately, there are people for fall, the elderly in particular who could be more confident.

    Good fishing!

I doubt that Dell can block these scammers, unfortunately. I get phone calls from time to time. They ask usually you can open the event viewer, which shows always insignificant 'mistakes' to demonstrate that you have problems exist. Their goal is to make you turn the remote control of your PC.

The fact is that neither Dell nor Microsoft can remotely monitor your PC from infections or other problems (except if you permit). All these calls saying cold also are scams.

Although these callers often have thick foreign accents, I saw recent reports of the appellants with no accent, likely from the North America.

I'm having fun with these crooks. When I acknowledge number a crook in the calls view, I respond with ' 911 - what is the nature of your emergency? Or I'll play dumb and string them along for wasting their time. Sooner or later they will get the message and leave you alone.
