Reinstall Lion 10.7.5

Hello

I have an iMac, it s a little old, since 2011.

I m still using OS X Lion and I have to do a full restore. It has a few problems and I´d like to get rid of them.

As far as I know I do it in disk/Restore utility, then the OS download yourself.

My question is: I download Lion or I m going to get Maverick, Yosemite or El Capitan?

Thank you!! C.

If you use the recovery partition, then reinstall the latest version of the OS.

If you use a disk or USB key, you will get the version of the OS on it.

If you use the recovery of the Internet system, it will reload the computer's original OS (or Lion if the firmware of the computer has been upgraded to access.)

I don't have the serial code more am I out of luck?

Yes, you may. If it does not appear on your Adobe account, or you wrote it / she saved somewhere, that's all. Adobe does not know what you don't know. All Adobe applications must be installed correctly and cannot be restored from some odd backup or migration assistants.

I want to reinstall Lion 10.7.5 (for maintenance purposes) and the operating system is encrypted. I need to encrypt it before you get a new version of Lion 10.7.5; Alternatively, installation (re - install, that is) will erase the OS on the hard drive?

    No need to encrypt.

Reinstall will not erase the old data. Please make sure of course is to reinstall.

    Back up your data.

In order to reinstall Lion, you will first need to ERASE the HARD drive (hence the need to back up your data).  Then you should be able to reinstall LION.

  • Help update recovery to Lion with Fusion always installed 2.06

I will say just above, I did the dumbest thing. As an impetuous hobbit, I was captivated by the bright shinny new OS X Lion and installed the new OS (Lion - OSX 10.7, updated to Snow leopard) without checking out VMware Fusion 2.06 compatibility with Lion (I found a statement clear here , I want to, I saw BEFORE I did the update of Lion).  It's true - I'm a doping, silly, do this who comes to me, don't deserve inclusion at dinners, etc., etc., (perhaps recognition warp the need by those who are desperate to feel superior hurling even grudge my way). That said, I've installed Lion on my MBP, on which I've also fortunately ran Fusion 2.06 virtualize Windows XP.

Unfortunately, after the installation of Lion and the upgrade of the few mac apps I have found, that requires an update, I discovered to my horror that tent to launch Fusion 2.06 inspires XP, I get a message saying

"incompatibility of the 64-bit kernel . The version of VMware Fusion does not work with the 64-bit Mac OS X kernel, you're running. To use VMware Fusion, you must restart your computer by using the 32-bit kernel in Mac OS X.   Stop VMware Fusion.  "

Well dear reader, you know maybe, that Lion (OS X 10.7) to no. 32 bit kernel. It has ONLY a 64-bit kernel.

So begins my decent to Mordor.

Maybe on a bright note that all will not be lost, I also these last backups time machine just before the Lion ate the distraught traveler. However, my backup excluded the VM VMware fusion (as is the case of the default settings of Time machine), and my last actual backup of the VM's for many months - (Yes, Gandaulf, another stupid error). However, I still see the "Windows XP Home Edition" file under "Virtual Machines" in My Documents directory - (which I am backup on an external drive now).

After doing research on the Apple, here at the VMWorld and in other parts of the County, accessible to all blind in Google, there are many people who have made similar mistakes and few definitive solutions.

So I have 3 applications of you wise and powerful wizards for detailed help.

    (1) is there a way and upgrading VMWare Fusion to 3.13 (which seems to be the version currently closest to you to support 'More' of the Lion, in my current state of "Lion" without losing my XP based applications and data?)

    (2) is it possible, and how, to return to my Snow Leopard machine based just before the installation of Lion, using my backup Time Machine, without losing my XP based applications and data, whereupon I'll conscientiously upgrade to 3.1.3 Fusion (or hopefully a machine virtual fully supported) and perhaps reinstall Lion after having better due diligence?

    (3) in other ways get to either get my XP machine and data while under the Lion, or to return to Snow Leopard and get my XP back machine.

Thanks for any help you can provide, and any help you can offer a silly poor hobbit on a quest to save the count (unrelated to Shire - the pharmaceutical industry).

-Tau (or in this case, maybe Pippin)

Keep in mind there is a difference between merger and a virtual machine. While the Fusion 2 is not compatible with Lion, virtual machines produced by the merger should be fine. All you should have to do is to install Fusion 3 (which should not affect your virtual machine) and you can even use the free 30-day trial to make sure that things work before paying.

Used an older version until I recently updgraded to a new iMac, did own the software launch, still doesn't, uninstalled tool used, erased any trace of Dreameweaver and continues to do the same thing (all the other bits of Creative Suite works fine, as well as Adobe Contribute). I don't have the main account on the computer. Were not able to pass to anyone at Adobe to help, any ideas?

Hi All we have found a solution! Has proved to be problems of system fonts! Tried almost everything, the thing that worked was opening FontBook and goes to the file > Restore System Fonts - I did get an error that it was missing some system fonts and reinstall Lion mountain, but so far all works, including all Adobe program. So, when everything has failed, check your system fonts! Thank you guys for your help!

Fix the hard disk and permissions

Boot from your Snow Leopard installation disc. After the installer loads, choose your language and click on the button continue. When the menu bar appears select utility drive in the Utilities menu. After that the charges of THE select your entry from hard drive (mfgr. ID and car size) in the list on the left.  In the status area, you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is faulty or has failed. (State SMART is not reported on external drives Firewire or USB). If the drive is "verified", then select your OS X volume in the list on the left (subentries under the entry for the road), click the first aid tab, then click the repair disk button. If THE reports any errors that have been corrected, and then run repair disk again until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions. Wait until the operation is complete, then exit FROM and return to the installer.

If THE reports errors, it cannot be resolved, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you do not have one of them or none of them can fix the disc, then you will need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS X.

The main difference if you use Lion or Mountain Lion, you must first boot from the boot Recovery HD simply HD recovery to perform the foregoing.

Reinstall Snow Leopard without erasing the drive

1 fix the hard disk and permissions

Boot from your Snow Leopard installation disc. After the installer loads, choose your language and click on the button continue. When the menu bar appears select utility drive in the Utilities menu. After that the charges of THE select your entry from hard drive (mfgr. What disk utility loads select the disk out-bumpy entry (usually, mfgr. (S.M.A.R.T. status is not reported on external drives Firewire or USB). If the disc is "verified", then select your OS X volume from the list on the side (entry indented under the entry for the drive, usually Macintosh HD.) Click the first aid tab, and then click the repair disk button. If disk utility reports any errors that have been corrected, then again run repair disc until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, click repair permissions . When the process terminates quit disk utility.

  • iMac mid-2011, 2.5 GH, el Capitan

My iMac has a problem.  Here's what he does and what I tried:

    • At the start, I can connect and then it freezes,
    • In Safe Mode, I can connect and it freezes
    • In the restoration (R command), I get the choice to use Time Machine, reinstall Lion and the other two... but I can choose only one, then when I click on this option from the screen freezes again.
    • (Before this show, I tried to reinstall Lion using the restore feature but when it took it to the Apple Store it says that Lion was no longer available.  That's why I bought 10.7 Lion on a USB... I had not used before trying to solve this problem today).
    • If I use Option and choose my start... 1 Mac hard drive crashes, 2) I 10.7 Lion on a USB key and if I try to start so that it freezes, 3) I backup on Time Machine and the boot and freezes.
    • I have reset the NVRAM (Cmd + Opt + P + R)
    • Reset the SMC
    • I have recently installed a power and an SSD using OWC, had no problems for about a month.
    • I tried another keyboard and mouse, normally I use bluetooth.

A good starting point is to replace the RAM. A faulty memory can often be the cause of all just random freezes. A defective boot disc could be the cause. If you have replaced the boot disk then make sure you partition and format the new drive before installing OS X.

  • I can't restore factory my MacBook

I am trying the factory restore my macbook Pro, but I can't get OS x to reinstall

I erased the disc, then tried to reinstall Yosemite but after that I got my Apple ID and password, it says "this article is temporarily unavailable."  I looked online for answers and everywhere where I looked at suggested that I enter internet recovery mode (rather than the normal recovery mode) and try to reinstall Lion. I followed the same steps with lion, but he still asked my Apple (where people said he shouldn't have) ID and when I entered it it always says it is temporarily unavailable.

I just started University and need my laptop for my classes so any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your Mac is running v10.11 El Capitan, it cannot be restored to Yosemite v10.10 factory.

  • Get the fuzzy finder windows

My Mac Pro with OS X 10.9.5 2009 and my husband of 2011 MacBook Pro with the same OS developed blurred finder windows today.  These computers are not networked in some way.  Basically, the finder windows are unusable because of the truncated graphics, they show.  Someone recently had this problem or knows what to do?  I have reset the PRAM and that seemed to help, but only for an hour or two.  The last message I've seen this problem was 2 years ago in this forum.  (This person said to 1) reset the PRAM and NVRAM and 2) restart the computer in safe mode and then restart again.  (3) If this didn't help not told to start HD recovery and then fix the hard drive and the permissions, and then reinstall the 10.9.5 update.  And if none of this has helped 4) reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks, then reinstall the 10.9.5 update.  Apparently, the person said they tried all of these and they still had the problem.

I think it's weird that what happens to two of our computers at the same time.  Could this be a hardware problem?  The Mac Pro has 24 GB of ram (18 that has recently been installed) and the Mac Book Pro has 8 ram or casual jobs.

Thank you very much for your suggestions!

  • The 2006 macbook update

    Hi all

My first post here. I have an old macbook (A1181). Recently relaunched with a new battery. It runs on 4 GB of RAM and OSX Lion 10.7.5.

I do not use any complex task, but my goal is to make this run a little faster mac / smoother (freezing too often for a few seconds when opening applications, etc.) for basic use. I thought about the upgrade of the OS, but Apple told me that the software that I use on is the last I can put on this machine because of the processor requirements. Now, I'm OK to stay with a Lion, but I want to know if you have any ideas to make this thing better work? I can't locate the DVD for the operating system, but if a format will do much better, I can buy that. Otherwise, I'm more interested to hear some tips on how to clean the machine. I'm OK to lose all data in this document, if there is a way I can almost factory restore without the need for a DVD, I'm all ears. Finally, if you know one of the tools that brightens the background image (a program, etc.) I am interested in this too.

Thanks in advance for your ideas!

Realize that this is a 10 year computer, which makes it approximately 100 years.  You did the RAM memory. You can try a reinstall (Lion was a download unless you have a rare version of USB stick), but frankly my opinion is what do you do when you need to speed up a PC that runs other famous BONES, not a Mac.  I have Tiger running on my G4 of 2002 with no cleaning since the year 2007 and it works very well.  It seems slower, but not because it's slower, but because everything else is faster/more-demanding.  If I start the word is no longer to start than 9 years ago.  If I browse the Internet, it seems to slow down because people like Apple.com added features over time I noticed certainly take longer to process.

Unless you can track this back to a real problem about the only other thing to think about is make sure you have at least 9 GB of hard disk permanently. The OS needs to write to the disk frequently and you don't want to hunt for room.

  • Constant error message trying to download El Capitan

    Hey all,.

I recently had to upgrade my hard drive and do a BONE re - install via the internet retrieval. Since my Macbook Pro is end of 2011 he reinstalled Lion. I tried to upgrade to El Capitan, because I can't use all my apps to work - I need Photoshop CC! - but all I'm trying to download it manages at the end and says there is a 'Server error 503 problem' and told me to try again. I tried 4 times now! My download speed is 45 Mbps, which should surely be a lot fast enough!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!
