Reinstall Visio after upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit

Hello everyone. I installed Windows 7-64 bit. My upgrade went without a hitch except to reinstall one of my Office programs. I am trying to reinstall Visio Professional 2003, however, my first legal installation disc is Visio 98. Windows 7-64 bit will not install this version, so I'm stuck without a track to upgrade in order to activate properly. How to work around this problem. I tried to join the team of Visio, but I see that they want to get my credit card on which I am not too happy to... Help... Please...

Thank you.

E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

I know it's late to this thread over 3 years, but I recently found this problem on the copy of my dad from win7 64.

With success, I was able to install 4.5 Visio standard, Visio 5.0 update and upgrade Visio 2002.  Everything worked successfully on win7, but the older versions had some quirks to fix in the installation process for 2002 to see them on the hard drive and to recognize as valid evolutionary products.

The main problem is that version visio 4.5 and 5.0 used an old 16-bit installshield Setup program.

The applications themselves are 32-bit and will be running in compat for windows NT 4.0 mode in win7 64-bit.

My solution was to get a program that will extract the old cab of installshield used on the cd files.

The file to extract cd is called 'data.z' and you must check out it in a good location on your hard drive.

I used the program Universal Extractor from the following site:

http://legroom.NET/software/UniExtract

the extraction method used was i3comp.

Once the records from HD, I created a shortcut to the executable visio in the extracted folder, in the properties of the shortcut I went to the compatibility options and click on it to change the settings for all users.  Here, I did the program running under Windows NT 4.0 and run as administrator.

I then tested successfully the Visio 4.5 and 5.0 with this method to ensure that any registry or ini file stuff needed by the installer of 2002 would be easier.

After I checked they were running and working on win7 64, I put in the 2002 Update CD recently bought new by the amazon seller.

Setup has found the copy to hard disk, and I told it to install over Visio 5.0 on hard disk folder.

When I launched visio 2002, he asked to activate, I then just let my dad continue the activation process of Visio 2002 update because it was actually him who had bought and she belonged and was installed on his computer.

He had worked for a couple of hours and finally had put on his machine virtual windows xp win7, but wanted on his real win7 64 bit installation.

I had the chance to help her for about an hour, and it was enough time to understand the problem and get Visio 2002 working for him.

I note that there is a point in the installation process when upgrade version wants to find the old copy to upgrade, he will try to get the hard disk and you will almost seem to be frozen, but the style hourglass turns the pointer of the mouse circle will be always moving.  As long as you wait outside it will be eventually find the older version installed.

Finally, on my father's computer, there are more than 1 million files from different programs and documents to go, after about 5-6 minutes setup are the old copy and continued.

After it's done only internet activation is required.

Hope this helps someone.

    I upgraded from Vista Home Premium 32-bit, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I have a Marvell yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller. I tried updating the driver, but it has yet to solve the problem. I am able to connect through a usb wireless adapter.

    I noticed someone had this problem with a M3100 and the solved the problem by replacing the Ethernet card. I hope that I don't have to do since I've upgraded to Windows 7 using an OEM version. As I understand it, you can change to any material after I installed the OEM version.

    When I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor there was compatibility issues: 1) the card Ethernet, 2) graphics card.

    He said go to the device manufacturer's website and download the latest version of the driver. I thought that's what I did, but it still doesn't work. I have all the 'exclamation points"in the Device Manager. Everything said that it works correctly.

    Maybe I'm not download the appropriate driver. Should I just go for the driver and the driver update rather than choose one myself and downloading?

    Good. It's just to install and configure the new network card. If all goes well, assuming that Murphy does not, it should be easy sailing! Let me know how it goes.

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?
    2. What is the full error message or error code?

    I suggest to perform a clean boot, and then try to download and install the game and check if it helps.

  • Portege M700 falls down after upgrading to Windows 7 32 bit

    Dear all,

    My portege M700 laptop played most of the reliable time.
    However, it was taken very slow sleep after a few iterations of sleep-wake, taking > 5 min.

    I have now installed Windows 7 32-bit, which works very well. Has no problem with the release of sleep. However, on 1-2 times per day now, I get a message that Explorer crashed and must restart. About once a week, the system crashes completely with a blue screen of windows (without core). Most of the time, in seconds to the time that the screen freezes, I hear the fan switch on at full speed (much faster that it never runs normally) and the case becomes hot enough.

    I installed the latest drivers for 32 bit Windows 7 on the site of Toshiba UK.

    Can someone help me to diagnose the cause of these accidents?

    Thank you very much

    Chris.

    Hello

    It is difficult to say what might cause this behavior strange system.
    But you said something about the hot deal and fans begins to spin faster

    It seems that the internal temperature of laptops increases to a higher level.
    A higher temperature may affect the RAM modules and this could be the reason why the system hangs and does not answer.

    What to say that you should check the Win 7 power management settings.
    There are many options that could decrease the performance of the processor and increase the cooling.
    In addition, you should check if the cooling fans are free of dust obstructed fans might not run properly and this would increase the temperature as well.

    Hope this helps you

  • Blu Ray does not work after upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit

    Hope someone can help with this problem. I found a lot of forum and users with similar problems but I can't solve this problem.

    I bought this HP Pavilion DV7-1055EA about 3 years ago the drive blu - ray one of the points of sale, it was loaded with Vista 32 bit. After making this computer has 4 GB of RAM instead of 3, I did a clean install of windows 7 64-bit. After which my Blu Ray player stopped working.

    When inserting a CD/DVD, the drive works fine and everything is as usual, however when insert a Blu Ray disc windows does not recognize the drive IE "drive is empty".

    Different things, I tried to set the inclusion of the problem, reflashing the BIOS, install the latest firmware, re - install the game media, installed PowerDVD but without any change in the symptoms.

    Can someone help with this problem? Well, I'm stuck on this one like blu ray readers are not my strong point in computers. Maybe HP (in their wisdom) printed a digital brand on the device which prevents him from being compatible with more recent versions of windows? I talked to HP however my warranty has expired I do not pay £15 for a fool to tell me to come back for win vista (which is the worst OS known to man kind) or that there is no solution available. Help, please?

    Hello

    After writing this last post, so I decided to download Nero Info Tool to look at information from drive etc.

    The program asked if I could put in a disc to test the speed of running, so I thought... what the hell I'll put in a blu - ray disc and see what happens.

    Next thing I know that running speed test took place then everything suddenly the blu ray kicks in life and he was here... smooth as the more calm waters, known for the kind of man... my blu ray film.

    Reboot the machine and now the blu - ray player works fine. Any idea on what just happened?

  • Audio Cup after upgrading to Windows 7 64 bit

    I recently updated a workstation reasonably powerful BOXX made from Windows XP to Windows 7 64 bit.  The only thing that does not seem to have gone well refers to audio.  Any application I play audio, it cuts out / falls for about one second every 3 to 10 seconds.  In Adobe first CC Pro and Adobe Audition CC, sounds cuts out.  When I play a video directly on YouTube, he stops and sometimes even lets out a nervous cry, so I don't think its a problem to Adobe.

    Workstation BOXX, with a NVIDIA Quadro K4200 graphics card.  Processors: Two X 5550 2.67 GHz; 12 GB OF RAM.

    Device Manager shows two audio devices / drivers: NVIDIA High Definition Audio; and a Realtek High Definition Audio.

    In case there was a conflict, but it makes no difference, I disabled the NVIDIA driver.  Always cut.

    Interest, sometimes when I have audio playback in Adobe Audition CC on the audio timeline, I can see the time meter stall periodically and restart, not necessarily in harmony with the cuts.  The end of a two-minute audio current reading, audio play is over, but the marker of time has not reached the end of the audio waveform display and moves again.

    None of the above happened before the upgrade to Windows 7.  Thanks for your suggestions, you can provide.

    This sounds like a driver issue, did you test if your hardware is compatible with Windows 64-bit?

  • Word2007 hangs after upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit

    I recently updated my HP laptop (Pavilion 1017nr) with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. The only problem I've had so far is that Word 2007 does not open. It crashes at startup. The specific message is: "Microsoft Office Word has stopped working. A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. Close program.
    I did the following input from the online HP support:
    Uninstalled MSOffice 2007 Ultimate
    Uninstalled all updates installed that are allowed.
    Analyzed with the tool switch/scannow SFC. No failures were found
    Restarted the system between each one of the foregoing.
    Reinstalled MSOffice 2007 Ultimate with another drive that moved to the origin
    Revisited the Windows Update Web site and reinstalled the pertinant to update for Office 2007 files.
    Several times between each one of the foregoing, I tried to start Word with the same original result. No changes have been affected by "solutions" above.
    What's next?

    André,

    SUCCESS!
    The OfficePlugIn.dll was the culprit.
    I finally found it in the subdirectory Adobe Contribute (C:\Adobe\Contribute\OfficePlugIn.dll). Deleting the file fixed the problem. Adobe Contribute has been uninstalled yesterday, but apparently not all the files are removed during the process.
    I'll start to reinstall the Adobe programs one by one and see what happens. I will keep you informed.
    Thanks again for all your time and effort. I really appreciate it.

    Hi Emilinator,

    More than likely HP won't to material support for Windows 8 on any system purchased before October 1, 2011.  Most of the Windows 7 drivers work in Windows 8.

    You can try this pagewhich provides measures to solve the problems of connection to broadband for Windows 8.

    Check out this page to see if your computer has been tested by HP with Windows 8.

    You can run the Upgrade Wizard, which will scan your PC and report on what is currently installed on your PC is compatible with Windows 8.  This guide was updated for Windows 8 provides lots of information which is needed for all those planning the upgrade.

  • I am unable to get the computer manufacturer to send the disc to reinstall Vista. I tried to do this task almost 3 weeks. I need to reinstall Vista so that I can upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit. Please help me. I have the product code.

    I mistakenly installed the 32-bit version of Windows 7, and I try to install the 64-bit version.  Info on other forums says there is no way to do it without a disk... I do not have with the computer.

    To go from 32 bit to 64 bit, you have to do with a FULL 64-bit version, by performing a clean install. so I don't see what the problem on Vista reinstall is.

    Unless you have Vista 64 bit, it will not help you upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit.

    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Ask them if you can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
