Reinstall win 7 home after replacing hard drive

HP Pavilion dm4 3050us. Had to replace the hard drive. Installed SATA 320 GB WD Blue. Now when I try to install HP, cannot complete installation is the message. There is something to be changed in the bios? Origianl drive was a Hitachi, but I have no idea of the size

Hello

The problem is the fact that the original HDD in your notebook is 750 GB and you have replaced this with a 320 GB drive - recovery disks have problems when you try to install on a disk that is inferior in quality to the training they were created from.

There is another solution, you can try.

First of all, don't forget, you can read and write the available 25-character activation key on your label COST.

Then, using another PC, download the Image file for Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit. and save it in your downloads folder.

Once the download is complete, use a program like ImgBurn to write the Image to a blank DVD Windows system file - a guide on this can be found here.

Once the installation disc has been created, typing away at the ESC key when you launch Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Insert the Setup DVD.  Select the Boot Manager option ( f9 ).  Use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER - if you are prompted to "press any key to continue...". ", do.

During installation, enter the activation key for Windows on demand and when the installation is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system.

You will find additional software and drivers for your laptop here.

So, how can I put the o/s back on?

Try to connect the external HARD drive to the computer via the USB port and try to copy all content from the internal HARD disk external HARD drive. Then you could try to insert the external HARD drive in the laptop.
But I've never tried this procedure and don t know if it will work.

But usually after replacing HARD drive you should boot from the Boot CD as recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows.
After the installation of clean Windows OS, you can visit the Toshiba drivers and you can download and install the drivers of Toshiba and utilities.

    Hello

I have a Satellite 1410-714 which has had a hard drive failure. I replaced the drive, but now the computer is extremely slow. Windows has been reinstalled, it was really slow too much and now it takes minutes for windows to start.

I suspect that something might have broken on the motherboard and the hard disk. I checked mobo replacement parts, but have not found anything for-714, so a 1410 mobo compatible? This model has a processor celeron 1.8.

    Thanks for help.

I suggest updating the BIOS first. Maybe your old BIOS have a few problems with the most recent HARD drive.

The only way to be sure is to open it up and see if the touchpad cable was disconnected during the upgrade of the hard drive. That's my bet. Easy to forget when you're winding. You don't provide complete model number, but many of the recent models Pavilion 17 require removal of the cover together to get hard disk that requires disconnection of the touchpad cable.

    Hello

You need to create the own recovery in the past disc!
This recovery disk allows you to install the Toshiba image after the HARD drive is dead or has been replaced.

In case you have not created this disk, it is possible to order this support:

I had to replace the hard drive on my Lenovo 3000 n200 laptop. The old drive was unusable and recover nothing from him. I have backups of all the files and folders to an external drive, but this does not have to reinstall XP Pro on the new hard drive. No CD of the operating system that is not supplied with the laptop. I'm trying to reinstall using the original disc I386 folder but WINNT32 ends without any indication of the reasons why after asking for a key product and running for a short period. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    oldrah

Has received recovery disks (2 discs) and ran the recovery process. Win XP installed and Setup took place, but lacked 9 pilots. A call to Lenovo support has led to a very nice lady to help me to track down and install the missing drivers. In order to facilitate its work, I enabled him to use a remote access facility to support my laptop and do what was necessary to install the drivers. Later, I've updated Windows for common maintenance and has started to re - install some software that had been on the laptop. Everything on the laptop is roughly back to where it was before the hard drive is dead, or better. Quite a learning experience.

  • failure of hard disk drive necessary to reinstall WinXP Home on replacement HARD drive

I have an of Western Digital HARD drive with my system of operating XP Home 32-bit installed on my primary C: drive.

I have run the Diagnostics tool online to WD for the reader who found intractable errors on the disc, which indicates an imminent drive failure and an email their technical support confirms the disk needs to be replaced SOON before she completely fails.

I copied all personal off the drive failed on another drive good files and am now ready to remove the failed drive and install a new replacement main primary HDD and then reinstall my XP Home on it - so - until I started to do this thinking, I would ask for tips in anticipation of a smooth, re - install on the new drive.

I got a 25 character key and proof of 8-character license key. There is a Microsoft sticker on the back of the pc (that I do not see to read right now, but its there).

So, I remove the old drive and fit the replacement drive and this format and then install my XP Home - can we see a particular problem with activation?

    concerning

Depending on whether you have a recovery CD suitable for activation key for your sticker or not, there are three possible courses of action. Each activation of the path should not be a problem unless this procedure has been done several times or your 25-character key fell into the wrong hands.

If you have a recovery CD

If you do not have a recovery CD

I hope that your original drive will have a recovery partition or the means to create a recovery CD. If you can create recovery media do now. In the contrary case and the original disc has a recovery partition make a clone of the original hard disk sector by sector to your new car now. If the clone is successful, i.e., that there are no unreadable sectors, is perhaps the best way to proceed in any case, especially if your PC is in good health other than the imminent failure of your HARD drive. If the clone does not work out, you can always fall back on the new installation. The advantage of a clone is that there is no re-setup software to (updates Windows or Office to give just two examples) and didn't need to be restored. I paid for the partitioning/cloning software and have no experience of all freebies out there to make recommendations, perhaps 10crackers can help with this.

If you have managed to create a recovery media, you can use it instead of cloning.

If you clone successfully you can just use it as is, or use the built-in recovery partition that you just cloned to do a clean install.

If you don't have a recovery media and cannot create an and is unable to successfully clone

You will have to contact the manufacturer of your PC to see if they can provide recovery media.

  • Can I reinstall after replacing hard drive?

I need to replace my hard drive. Can I reinstall Windows Vista on the new drive? I have to do something in order to reuse the product key?

Yes, you can reinstall Vista on the new drive (but it must be removed from the old drive or the old disk must be ignored if you can't access it to remove the program).

You may have problems with automatic activation (not usually, but sometimes).  If so, simply activate manually.

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC and only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Version Windows 7 Basic reinstall after replacing hard drive

I lost my restore CD and had to replace my hard drive. The system had a preinstalled version of Windows 7 Basic. The key does not exist in my laptop lenovo. Can you please let me know if the same key can be used if I download the software from the site of Ms.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?
