Reinstalling Windows 8 OEM

Hello

Recently I had a number of errors in the use of Windows 8, leading to frequent accidents and BSOD. (I had a variety of errors, but for the most part they seem to be errors of disc). The last of these episodes has actually led to my boot configuration data is damaged, and in my attempts to use the feature of auto repair for this problem, I am now in a situation where I can't boot into Windows at all and my BIOS will not recognize partitions with Windows on it.

Fortunately, these problems start occurring, I backed up all my files. It seems that the easiest way to proceed would be to simply reformat my hard drive and reinstall windows.

However, my laptop came pre-installed with an OEM of Windows 8 version, and I have no installation CD. So what I want to know is this:

1. what media should I use to reinstall Windows 8, and where to buy it?

2. What is the process for the resettlement of a version OEM of Windows 8 (for example how to find the product key?)

The last option of the station would be to buy a regular retail of Windows 8 edition, I am reluctant to do because I already own a copy of the operating system. However, even then I can't find a version of Windows 8 on Microsoft store that does not require Windows 7, Vista or XP must already be installed.

Thank you

Jay Gordon

Hi Jay,.

Thanks for the reply with the status of the issue.

I suggest you to contact the manufacturer of the computer to reinstall the operating system on your computer as different from the specification of the computer and the operating system is customized by the manufacturer of the computer.

Or another way is to create Installation Windows 8 support and then try to install Windows 8. See the following article from Microsoft Help to create installation media. You can create a computer Windows 8 work installation media, but to install it, you will need to have the product key.

Create an installation media for Windows 8.1:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Note: the steps also apply to Windows 8.

Please do not hesitate to visit our Web site for any help with the Windows operating system.

Because this is a version of Windows 7 OEM and you transfer to another computer (in this case and iMac), you may experience complications.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are bound to the first computer you install and activate it on (in this case, your MacBook)

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • How to reinstall Windows 7 OEM on eMachine with installation disc?

    * original title - when I bought my computer, windows 7 Home premium 64-bit was already installed by the manufacturer, emachines, then... *.

.. .i did not have an installation cd. I really want to put all my hard drives now and reinstall windows 7 with a new installation of factory, but I don't know how to do this without a cd. can someone help me please? Thank you very much.

Since your eMachine has been pre-installed with Windows 7, you must have a recovery partition to reinstall your operating system.  If this isn't the case, they can also provide you with recovery media.  Please see the article here for more information.

    I hope this helps!

  • Reinstall Windows 8 OEM

I have a laptop which was OEM activated with Windows 8 and has a failing HARD drive.  I replaced the HARD drive with that of another laptop running similar equipment to diagnose the problem, but with an important difference of it running Windows 7 and have problems of activation (as expected).  I was wondering how I would go to get the installation media so I can do a new installation of Windows 8 during my test drive on active OEM laptop.  The previous record is completely toast.  He uses UEFI and Windows license 'WIN8 STD MLT' value.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Redbasi,

Please answer this question to get more clarity on this issue.

    • Are you facing the question of activation on Windows 7?

Here are some options that you can consider:

Contact the manufacturer of the computer with the disk HARD failed and they could help you with a new drive hard with Windows 8 is installed. Windows is installed by the manufacturer of the computer, the activation isn't a problem.

You can not install Windows 8 as a new copy or perform a clean Windows 8 installation needs a qualifying product to be installed first, and then you upgrade to Windows 8.  If you have a product key for Windows 8 download Windows 8. You will have the option to install Windows now, later, or using media with an ISO file.

  • Re-installing Windows XP (OEM - purchased version of njewspaper ad without mentioning it was OEM only) after the installation of the pirate Win Xp (full version). Can I retrieve pirate settings to not reinstall aps (have about 100). __

    Hello
I'm trying to reinstall Windows XP (OEM - purchased version advertises in newspapers not to mention it was OEM only) after the installation of the pirate Win Xp (full version). Can I retrieve pirate settings to not reinstall aps (have about 100).
(I guess I have to change registry to eventually replace OEM version with pirate version - it still would make it impossible to activate the automatic updates). Or I can just reinstall registry then replace edition OEM version? (Would still allow the applications to be installed without the re - install?) (A major pain).

  • Reinstall Windows XP without OEM disc

I work on a computer with Windows XP Home Edition.  Safe mode does not start and I'm unable to uninstall or install programs.  The user has a malicious AOL software package that detects a threat (but he is unable to do something about this).  Without being able to install the software or to access in safe mode, I don't think I can do a lot.

I think I need to reformat the hard drive and reinstall Windows.  However, the OEM Windows XP Home Edition disk disappeared.  The product key is known and I do not have a Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 discs.  I'll be able to install Windows using the original product key with this drive?

The good news is that the Dell XP installation CD are in every way. And not only CD - R copy of them! You can get one on Ebay at a dealership with a rating less than $20, including shipping. But surely a relative, friend, neighbor colleague you know has one of them - they are everywhere! And when you use a Dell XP installation CD, there is no need to worry about the product key thanks SLP (System-locked preinstallation) technology that Dell uses.

If, and only if, this CD - R is a perfect copy of the correct original CD, then it can be used with success since you have already a valid COA and the product key. The problem is that there is no way to really know what's on this CD - r... (Well, I guess, that there is a way if you can determine the MD5 checksum and compare it to the checksum MD5 of the real McCoy.)

I'm sorry, but you will need a Windows 9 x / ME drive to provide during the XP installation from the XP disc is a version upgrade. There is no way around that. See if you can find a friend with an older operating system disk (not a recovery disk) to support qualification. Otherwise, you would need to buy the full version (not upgrade) of XP to install on the computer. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Validation or Activation of Windows Vista (OEM) after the replacement of components & reinstalling

    Hi all

I just had on the phone speaking to the people of Microsoft online help. After some discussion and blaming 'SLUI 4' (according to instructions), I am still unable to validate (activate) my legal copy of Windows and the Lady on the phone told me to come on this forum to help! ~ (What joke Microsoft management!) ~ She said she was unable to help because my copy of Vista is an OEM version and she said I need to contact the manufacturer. I said, the manufacturer was no longer in business, so now what? She said to go on the forums. So here I am!

Also, I think the first why I cannot now turn on Vista it's because the PC has had a few different hard disks over the years and during the summer I had to replace the power supply that the original has stopped working. I had a similar problem with another PC a few years ago and it has been easily resolved on the phone speaking with MS online help, but now's done it a lot more difficult for me (using this forum) that I am dyslexic and find writing and reading indeed very laborious.

In any case, I have reviewed the above and tried a few things, but none have worked for me. Then, please, make my life livable explaining what can I do to activate my Vista in simple terms?

Is received the following message when you try to validate my copy of Vista after a clean re-installation:

"The product key you entered is already in use.

Reasons can be: a new power supply & different hard drives have been installed by myself.

    Please, please help!

Best regards & thanks a lot, a lot.

    November 10, 2015.

    Hi all

As indicated, I wiped the hard drive, re-partitioned and formatted just to make sure he was completely clean and there is no hidden bad guys or persistent files corrupted, etc..  I then reinstalled Windows Vista, did a few main, graphics drivers updates, etc and then tried to 'turn on' online.

The bad news is that it still not be accepted and once more displayed: "the product key you entered is already in use.  So, I was a little irritated but not totally surprised, because if there is one thing that I've noticed over the years that Windows operating system are very compatible with their annoying messages! ~ However, this is not the end, read on:

As you do on these occasions, I thought then of what could be done then that I have not already tried? ~ Well I have to say now that my reason to reinstall Vista is not because I have no desire burning back somehow, it is finally to Windows 10. But before I could do I need to install a "Windows 7 Upgrade" I bought in 2010 when my son was in college.

This got me wondering if the message could be related in some way, to upgrade?  Twenty minutes after that, my son came into the room and offers exactly the same thing!  Without hesitation, I installed Windows 7 Upgrade and tried to validate online and hey-presto it worked!

So, for anyone else having similar problems with a re-installation and who have also used a version upgrade of Windows later, is probably the answer ~ if all else fails.  Thus, 14 lb hammer remained in the garage!

I am glade to say that the problem of Vista activation/validation is now resolved, even better Windows 10 is installed.

A big thank you to all who tried to help with this annoyance.

    Best regards

It is currently running Windows 7 home pre. 64 bit. my thought is to format the HD and reinstall windows 7 using the LIC number which is for this computer (gateway). The office came with a disc of Windows 7. I have a few drives of OEM versions of operating system (Windows 7 Home pre). • Reinstall/activating non - OEM Windows 7

    Greetings-

I'm passionate about PC, and I want to reinstall Windows 7 on my laptop.
I made with countless facilities distro of Linux, but never a Windows installation (shock, I know!).
Thus, I have never had to deal with product keys, OEM versions, etc.. I have a few questions.

I have a laptop Lenovo (Ideapad y470, not it's important...), that came with Windows 7 pre-loaded.
He came with all discs, but there a partition recovery (or at least done... Can I have saved and deleted)

I want to do a clean install of Windows 7 (reformat the HARD disk, clean install) using the Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x 64 .iso downloaded from DigitalRiver. I do not wish to restore a bloated version of Windows 7 OEM.

If I reformat my hard drive and start installing Windows 7 my Self burned disc, I'll be able to use my product key on the label on the bottom of my laptop (same key that is in the registry and found with geolocation Magic Jelly Bean... so I guess that's the key to product...)
Or though, servers will think that the key is still in use and deny activation?

    I hope everything is clear,
    Thanks in advance,

  • How can I reinstall Windows 8 on an OEM laptop when I don't have the product key?

I bought an Asus x401a laptop for my daughter as a Christmas gift. It comes preinstalled with Windows 8. Yesterday, the unit closed at key and we had to make a hard stop. On reboot, Windows will not start and instead came up with a screen that informed it was an automatic repair. This obviously didn't want to; the unit restarted and launched the auto repair, which once again. The third box... I had a few options: I could update the installation or reset it. There were several recorded files (we only had a few weeks), so I chose Reset, which if I understand correctly, it would clear everything and start over. After a while, another screen informed me that Windows could not reset the computer, who took over the entire process to the wire.

I ran across this process several times, each time with the same result. I do not think that anything is actually wrong with the material (such as menus and other seem to work correctly; I think it's maybe just a corrupted file system) and I'd like to do a reinstall of the operating system, as it came from the factory. This is where I ran into my problem:

    • I can't download the Microsoft operating system legitimately, without providing the product key in the download tool
    • The product key is apparently built into the BIOS and not print anywhere, so I can't find my existing key without some sort of tool
    • Various tools are available to 'sniff' the product key from the BIOS, but because Windows is not running, I can't use them

So my question is: exactly what should be my next step? ASUS would have a copy of the key related to my serial number, etc.. ? Should I install an old copy of Windows 7 just so that I can run a utility to get the key from the BIOS, or who will replace the number by something else? Or is there perhaps some way I can get the key of product directly from you?

I like to keep Windows 8, as my daughter has already learned the interface, but at this point, it looks like this may be impossible by design.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

I understand that you reinstall Windows 8 in the OEM specifications.

As it is the OEM of Windows 8 version, the system manufacturer will have more details in this regard. I suggest you contact the manufacturer of the system.
