Remote Desktop on Windows 7 Professional, connect to Windows XP SP3.

original title: DISTANCE OFFICE WIN7 PRO on WIN XP HOME EDITION SP3.

I am trying to connect to a Win XP Home Edition SP3 computer laptop from a Win7 Pro on WLAN & Gigabit network. It always brings up this:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

(1) remote access to the server is not enabled.

(2) the remote computer is disabled.

(3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

DETAILS:

Windows XP Home Edition SP3 with RDP file Version: 6.0.6001.18589

Windows 7 Professional with RDP Version: 6.1.7601.17514

I also tried to download and install the latest RDP on the Microsoft Web site, and it starts to install goes up to 65% and then I get a popup saying:

"Remote Desktop connection cannot be installed because your operating system already has a built-in version. See all programs\Accessories\Communications\Remote Desktop connections on your Start menu. »

The Windows XP laptop has a wireless card, so I use a linksys WUSB100 V2. with my WRT610N Linkysys however Windows 7 is mostly on gigabit ethernet with router.

I tried to run RDP on WLAN & ethernet both. No luck yet. Help, please...!

P.S.: I need access to Windows XP laptop computer from my Win7 Pro laptop.

Kind regards

On my desktop Windows 7 Pro, I use a card (Rosewill RNX-G300EX) wireless network. When I installed the drivers for this card, she also installed software GUI of own Rosewill (Ralink Wireless Utility) to connect to wireless networks. This setting overrides Windows 7 is built in the GUI to connect to wireless networks.

On a wild guess, I uninstalled the drivers and software for my wireless card and then reinstalled the drivers only and used Windows 7 built in networking and it works now.

  • login screen Remote desktop showing on mac client connection

    Hello

is there a way to prevent the display of the login screen, when connecting to a Remote Desktop client workstation? The connection is already arranged with a login, so now I need to identify 'twice'. First time with AutoConnect when you click on a workstation in Remote desktop and second manually when the other customer's screen opens. This was not in Yosemite, but appeared first in El Capitan and it's kind of annoying.

I use the old worgroupmanager to control the use of USB devices. It interacts with the login screen, too?

Is there a way I can avoid this login screen?

I have a machine that is the Mountain Lion, without Workgroupmanger, and this is the normal behavior without any login screen.

In fact, it was the Workgroup Manager. You need to disable the connection to local users only, which is enabled by default.

    CAN ANYONE HELP?

    Hi Mordi26:

This could be because windows server 2003 is not updated with the latest version of the Terminal Server client. With terminal services client 6.0 update... It should solve the problem. Here is the link to download:

  • Remote Desktop on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit does not connect to my computer Windows XP VPN

I recently updated from windows XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64 bit.  According to the same installation instructions, that I used on XP to connect to my computer to work through VPN & remote desktop is no longer working.  I can connect to the VPN connection without no problem, but when I use remote desktop to connect to the computer, it does not work.  I get the message:

Remote Desktop cannot connect to the remote computer to one of the following reasons:

    (1) remote access to the server is not enabled

    (2) the remote computer is disabled

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

Items 1-3 are all very well, so it must be another problem.  I also checked windows firewall remote desktop is allowed on the exceptions list.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I fixed, which was ultimately quite simple.  I changed the 3 settings, 1 - uncheck the TCP/IP v6 2 - in the options of the remote desktop, ADVANCED tab, I changed the server authentication for: connect and don't warn me.  3 - below, to connect from anywhere, settings...  I chose: do not use a remote desktop gateway server. \
I checked the TCP/IP v6 and everything still works.
    Hope that helps someone.

  • I have problems connecting to the remote desktop on Windows Server 2008.

I have many positions of work XP trying to connect to our servers to Server 2008 Remote Desktop, but get the message, "because of a security error, the client could not connect to the remote computer".

Now, if I go to Windows\System32, I find mstsc.exe and can connect to the same server perfectly.  But if I go to save the connection, RD is up to version 5.2.

can I connect to a windows 7 pro is a windows xp pro?

Yes you can, please try the following:

1 right-click 'Computer' and select 'Properties' (or open 'Control panel' and select 'System')

    2. click on "Remote settings" in the upper left corner of the window
    3. on the "Remote" tab, select "allow connections to this computer remotely.

    4. make sure that you uncheck "Allow only the connection of computers running Office remotely with level (recommended) network authentication" as I'm sure that XP does not support this.

    I hope this helps.

Please let me know how you go with this

    Hi JordanWinkelman,

Your question of Windows 7 is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public.

Please post your question in the TechNet Windows Server 2008 R2 General

  • If I configure Windows XP for automatic logon, then I can't access with Remote Desktop in Windows 7.

I have Windows XP on my old computer and Windows 7 on my new.

I have my old computer with auto-logon installation as described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231, when it starts, it will automatically in Windows XP.

However, if I try to connect remotely from my new computer with Windows 7, I can I connect, but as soon as the old computer hangs on the spot, the automatic connect feature kicks in and the old computer connects again locally, actually expel the connection at a distance in a few seconds.

    Please notify. Thank you.

I think that this is normal, you cannot establish a remote desktop connection to a Windows XP computer when automatic login is enabled, I believe that this has been changed in Windows 7.

  • Two monitors, Remote Desktop Services Windows 7 to windows 7

First post here people. I never usually ask questions because I'm usually able to find the answers, but I'm at my wits end on this stupid question. I can find no answer to my question/problem. OK here it is.

I have 2 is a version of windows 7 PC - PRO, another is PRO and I still have another which is ultimate. Have all two monitors in HD 1920 x 1080. When I remote of these PC from any other I can NEVER get two monitors at work, only a single instance as I have for years. The STRANGE thing is all and all the Windows 2008 Server R2 connection ALWAYS double lance watching so I am perplexed.

I changed all the PC under windows 7 not to use the classic windows theme so no AERO. The tick is checked to use all my screens, I even tried the command line with the switch multimon. nothing nothing nothing works to get two monitors to work when the communication remotely to a windows 7 PC. I tried this at home and in laboratories and its consistent work if it's not me. I don't understand why I can't find all messages about it on the internet, it's so strange.

    Can anyone help?

I found my own answer. I have no distance in the ultimate version, I use it remotely from the professional. Only ultimate (available on shelf) or available through the volume licensing program Microsoft enterprise supports the Terminal Server services dual monitors. So if you have users vpning in house to complain about this version check you are remoting in. The target pc must be ultimate or business. New 2008 servers has never been a problem.
