Remotely add a domain user account to a Win XP box

Hi, I hope that little question... is there a way for me (as a domain administrator) remotely add a domain already user account to a domain joined PC (running Win XP) so I have not physically visit or remote (RDP) kick someone else out of it?

EDIT: Re-asked, here

I don't think this is possible, but the best place to ask your question (for a definitive answer) is in a server support forum...

  • Script to add a domain user to the local Administrators group raises the error "the network path is not found."

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 domain and a Windows XP Pro workstation that has been attached to the domain and then disconnected. I am trying to create a VBS script to add a domain user to the local Administrators group.

I log on my computer as a local administrator and run the following script:

    Dim oNetwork: Set oNetwork = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Network")
    StrPC Dim: strPC = oNetwork.ComputerName
    Dim OGroup: Set oGroup = GetObject ("WinNT: / /" & strPC & "/ directors")
Dim OUser: Set oUser = GetObject ("WinNT://domainname/username")
    oGroup.Add (oUser.ADsPath)

This script returns the error "the network path is not found."

However, I am able to go into control panel > user accounts > enter the user name and the domain name > click Next... > choose the administrators of the 'other' group and the user name will be added to the local Admin group.

The same script runs without error if it is launched after logon on the workstation with a domain administrator account.

How can I get my script runs without error, when you are logged into the workstation as a local administrator?

    Best regards, Andy

The code that I used came from here. If the syntax of the Add method is passed to oUser.ADsPAth to "WinNT: / /" & domainname & "/" & username, the script works correctly.

    Therefore, the modified script:

    Dim oNetwork: Set oNetwork = WScript.CreateObject ("WScript.Network")
    StrPC Dim: strPC = oNetwork.ComputerName
    Dim OGroup: Set oGroup = GetObject ("WinNT: / /" & strPC & "/ directors")
    Dim strUser: strUser = "WinNT://domainname/username."
    oGroup.Add strUser

Thanks to Qasim Zaidi to show the code of work here.

    Hi Ewa,

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. You created this account, or he came to his own?
    2. You share this computer with another person?
    3. You did it all change important before the show?

If this user account is not created by you, then it might be the virus/malware. So, I suggest you run a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner (MSS) to ensure that the computer is virus-free.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner free is a downloadable security tool that allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Get back to us with all the necessary information and the result of the proposed suggestion. We will be happy to help you further.

    Hello

Are you logged on as ADMINISTRATOR? If so the account could be damaged.

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup. The ADMIN account in trunk
Mode has no default password (unless someone has changed the password so it should be available).

    ----------------------------------------

Or use the hidden ADMINISTRATOR account:

Use the Admin account hidden to lower your user account APPLY / OK then wear again to

    above message.

You can use the hidden - administrator account to make another account as an ADMINISTRATOR with your same

You can run the Admin account hidden from the prompt by if necessary.

  • Question about the control panel user accounts in windows 7.

This might be a bit of a strange question, but I'll see what I get. Basically when I enter the control panel via my username (not the admin account) and click on "Add or remove user accounts" and enter a password to admin, the photos on my user and admin account both fail (but they are there on the log on screen, etc.). But the guest account (which is disabled) the image of bag of comments showing. But if I enable the guest account, the image disappears. Strange. Any ideas how to get the pictures to show up there?

Also, I will add that this occurs only in the standard user, not my account Admin accounts I converted my standard account to an administrator account, and the pictures then decided to appear.

    Thanks for your time.

I have the same problem, and that this does not affect my usage, I don't worry in this regard. Frankly, I was wondering that myself...
