Question about the control panel user accounts in windows 7.

This might be a bit of a strange question, but I'll see what I get. Basically when I enter the control panel via my username (not the admin account) and click on "Add or remove user accounts" and enter a password to admin, the photos on my user and admin account both fail (but they are there on the log on screen, etc.). But the guest account (which is disabled) the image of bag of comments showing. But if I enable the guest account, the image disappears. Strange. Any ideas how to get the pictures to show up there?

Also, I will add that this occurs only in the standard user, not my account Admin accounts I converted my standard account to an administrator account, and the pictures then decided to appear.

Thanks for your time.

I have the same problem, and that this does not affect my usage, I don't worry in this regard. Frankly, I was wondering that myself...

  • Updated mapping of user names in C:\Users Control Panel user accounts.

    Hello
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium SP2. I'm trying to match user accounts in Control Panel with those listed in C:\Users\(name-of-user).
I need to do this on a new computer, so I can network with existing computers.
On my 3 computers existing, somehow my user accounts in Control Panel do not match the underlying names in C:\Users but I all do not match the same way on all computers and am able to share with them. For example, I have a user account named "ComputerAdmin" in the control panel that is the username 'Gift' which can be found in the C:\Users.I to add this fourth computer and match all names in C:\Users then they are the same on all computers, and I want to match user accounts in Control Panel so that they are all the same on all computers , and finally, I want to synchronize the C:\Users to user accounts in Control Panel on this fourth computer so that it will be in the network.
I did this once before with the help and it was not too difficult to do, I just forgot how I did it. What is the best way to accomplish this task? All computers are running Vista. TIA
    Don

I don't think it's your problem. If you have a user account password 1234 on one computer Bob and Bob password 1234 on another computer, properly configured firewall and actions put in place properly, sharing will be flawless. I answered your question above several times and I'm afraid that I don't know how to make it more clear. I am sympathetic that you do not want to hear this, but implementation of sharing between computers if bit normally takes about 5-7 minutes. But without being able to see your network and computers, I can't be specific about what you're doing wrong.

Here's my usual network troubleshooting information. If you still can't get it, you can have one tradesperson come on-site and to fix things for you. This is not a person of a type BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to help you.

Excellent, comprehensive, but easy to understand article on sharing files/printer under Vista. Contains information about sharing printers and files, and the folders:

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb727037.aspx

For XP, start by running the Network Setup Wizard the on all machines (see warning in section A below).

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, it means which allows file sharing / print on the Exceptions tab normally run the XP Network Setup Wizard will take care of this for these machines. The only "witch hunt", it will turn on the XPSP2 Windows Firewall. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    (C) in Vista, turn on password protected sharing. Create accounts of users and corresponding passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

Vista - Start ORB > Search > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

    D. Si one or more of the computers is XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. XP Home does not share the users directory or the Program Files, but you can share folders inside those directories. A better choice is to simply use the Shared Documents folder. See the first link above for more information on Vista sharing.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response. • Question about the tools Panel...

I have a question about the Panel edge tools animate:

In the future, edge animate will have a rich set of drawing tools? At the moment, so wanted to have a symbol, lets say a 'dog', I would have to draw everything first in Illustrator or Photoshop, and then import it into Edge animate (because EA basically allows me to draw rectangles and circles only). In future versions, will there be tools like 'Pen tool' or 'Gum' and other drawing tools know Flash Professional to create symbols?

    Thank you

    JH

    Hi JH,.

Sorry, but we can't comment specifically about whether or when any functionality in the future versions of edge animate. What we can do, is listen to feedback from our users, and to add feature requests for the EA team who can be considered for future versions of edge animate.

When new releases are published, there is also a list of the new features added... so stay tuned!

  • QUESTION ABOUT THE REASONS OF PROGRAMS OLDER ON WINDOWS 7/WINDOWS VISTA - 64/32 BIT

Tried to install older programs that work on Vista but will not install on Windows 7 from the cd/dvd drive. Issue seems to be that I run 64-bit and Vista is 32-bit depending on the message I get. I tried to run the settings for all of the operating system that offer previous versions of win 7 troubleshooting and don't fix the problem. All the other things I could try would be appreciated. Or could there be another reason why they moved?

My PS CS4 is installed on another Partition of Windows, but it has most of the Adobe/Apple and Photoshop files in my User/AppData/Local and other user folders, as well as the three "Program" in C:\       (check out the common files under files as well).

-I guess the main problem is that Win7 64 bit has three "Program Files" folders, so if Vista 32 bit

only one, or two, it might be difficult to determine which go in Program Files or program data

[The main installation files will go in Program Files (X 86) ].

-It can come down to experience, but in many cases, the files/folders in directories

Other than the main installation directory, would be the configurations of users, programs or files added to this program, either created after being installed and run, so I hope that the "missing" files will be created after you have used the software.

-In some cases, it is not to copy the configuration in files, because they may have information on the system

from the previous machine and the version of Windows that can cause a conflict.

-You should be able to find more information on the file/folder locations and get the programs

upward and running on Win7 64 bit someone on a forum dedicated Photoshop or Webster.

I know it's an old theread, but I came across the same issue yesterday, then I can save time for future users.

Yes, THIS BEHAVIOR of A NORMAL meaning IS:

-You cannot change the administrator if you already, you can change to the standard

-You cannot change the standard if you are the only administrator.

That's all. Just like a check - try to make yourself the sole administrator (you must hide the built-in Administrator account) and you will see that the bubble of the administrator is marked.

  • the user will not erase & isn't in Control Panel users

If I go to C:\Documents and Settings, there is a user that I never had and want to get rid of. But this user has never been and is not present in Control Panel > users. If I try to remove it from C:\Documents and Settings, it starts with a box to confirm deleting file saying 'the file 'xxxxx' contains items whose name is too long for the trash. Do you want to permanently delete it? "I click Yes or Yes to all.

Then he quickly paged home with a box titled error deleting file or folder that says "cannot delete the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX: cannot find the specified file." Be sure to only specify the path and the correct name. I click on one button, OK, and I'm done. It will not erase. So I renamed this user ' broken but will not erase "other users on this list are administrator, Administrator.JEFF - A40763A256, all users, all Users.WINDOWS, by default, the User.Window default user, guest, Jeff.JEFF - A40763A256 (me). Not sure why mine has this weird kind of thing next to my name (?). In any case, I guess this isn't a problem.

If I look in Control Panel > user accounts, I see that Jeff (Administrator) and comments - the guest account is disabled. These are the only two users ever.

You can manage your startup to find out why your computer is experiencing difficulties of start and stop. Certainly I would test the hard drive.

Start > run > msconfig [Enter]

This will open the System Configuration utility. Look under the Startup tab and find the likely culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, apply and OK out. You don't need to restart immediately, but next time you do, you will get a dialog box saying that you have used the utility. Just check the box that says in effect, "don't mind to this subject again".

Important - do not use the System Configuration utility to stop the process. Use rather Start > Run > services.msc [Enter] and stop all services unless you really, really know what you're doing.

Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.
