Removal of the music of former employee files

A former employee had a few GB of iTunes media files stored in the My Documents / My Music folder mapped on our file server.  I need to remove these files, because they are too much space that we need. I am ignorant on iTunes unless I know the synchronization of computers with the iTunes service, and it affects the playlists, availability of the media on other devices, etc. I don't want to lose the music library of this person on them.

Is there a way I can delete these files?

If you want to be nice, you could ask the former employee if he or she has copied the files before leaving.

Usually iTunes is used in conjunction with an Apple mobile device, like an iPhone, iPod or iPad.  If the ability to machine the former employee was large enough to contain all the music, so what was left is just a backup and you can remove it safely without disturbing your consciousness.

If, however, there is more music in the library iTunes on your server have the space on the mobile device, the following applies.

If the music (or video, etc.) was purchased by your former employee, he or she can download (free) again from the online provider, for example, the iTunes store.  Album artwork files can also be downloaded for free from the iTunes store.  If, however, the music was obtained in another way, for example, by importing from a CD, that "otherwise" should be repeated to retrieve music.

Playlists are concerned, that information is kept in one or two relatively small files (especially iTunes Library.itl).  If your former employee does not copy these files, this information would be lost.

There may be other issues related to applications installed on a mobile device.  That info should be on the mobile device.

  • BlackBerry Z10 BB10 Music Player display of files that do not exist and cannot be deleted (possible corruption of metadata)

    Hello

I put a bunch of mp3s in the sdcard/Music directory and had them loaded well. Then I edited the tags id3 in them and the music player picked up all the fine changes. After that I noticed that 3 files have been hidden without changes. I tried to play the songs in the music player, and he says: "the file cannot be read due to an unexpected error. (1)."

I removed all the music from my press card and in the music player all the songs have been removed with the exception of these 3 files (which don't really exist since I deleted everything). Again, I try to play them but I get the same error as above. It seems to me that the metadata somehow has been damaged and must be reset.

Does anyone know how can I reset the metadata cached in the music player to return to a State of uncorrupted?

Remove DRM AAC music files purchased protection is necessary in order to make the files available to play with Sonos.

    1. In iTunes, select my music
    2. List of songs showing "kind".
    3. Select a song with 'genre' "Protected AAC audio file"
    4. Click on the «...» ' and select 'delete '.
    5. The song is removed from my music and appears in the Recycle Bin
    6. Empty the trash
    7. In iTunes, select iTunes Store

    11. In iTunes, select my music
    12. The song downloaded in step (10) above appears
    13. AGAIN, the song has been downloaded as "Protected AAC audio file".  It is a problem, since it is my understanding AAFC Protection is supposed to be used by iTunes.

    Some experiments to try.

    (1) create a small project with just a few pictures and see if it will play.

    (2) use .bmp photos to create the project instead of .jpg photos.

    (3) remove all transitions and resave the project as .wmv and see it it helps.

In simple terms, simply copy it to an external drive and then copy them back as the other user.  If files are protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management) as iTunes from Apple or Napster, you will need to know your service music, if the files can be copied.

  • Windows Media Player does not detect files in the music folder

Original title: why Windows Media Player NOT showing my music?

So I recently got myself a new laptop, with Windows 7 Home Premium on it.

I copied my music to my desktop PC (also Windows 7) folder to the new laptop.

All the files are there in my user folder music, however, Windows Media Player absolutely refuse to recognize their existence and will NOT add them to your own library. If I navigate to the folder of the album, select a track or multiple tracks and use the context menu to perform them, which works without problem - WMP will play files.

I checked that the right folder belongs to the library.

The photos that I copied in the same way everywhere appear correctly in the 'Images' of WMP library.

After searching on the internet for answers, I came across three very common solutions either on their own or a combination of seems to work for most people:

    (1) removing all THE folders in the music library, then add the. This has no effect.

    (2) will "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" and delete the entire contents of this folder, or the folder itself. Note that if stop/start no matter which drive Windows Media services also had no effect.

    (3) using the command line tool "attrib" to remove the attribute 'system' of all the files in the folder music.

Anyone got any ideas that are NOT ALL OF THE above MENTIONED the ELEMENTS, which may be able to help here? Otherwise, I'll move to a slightly less fussy Media Player...

In fact, as a result, that gave me an idea.

    I went to:
    C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries

And delete the content of this (this will remove ALL your libraries!).

Then, I used the option "restore default settings", which correctly restored by 4 default libraries. I then recreated both more personalized, I would like to have it.

Having done this, WMP now seems add my music to his library as I type this...

  • "The system cannot find specified file", or "refers to a location that is not available" in my folder music Public

I have a problem with several files that I can't remove. I bought a new laptop Windows 7 a few months ago, and my music library is located in an old Mac I installed iTunes and copied everywhere, but for some reason, a couple of directories has become corrupted in the process. I was able to move a couple of them from 'C:\Users\Public\Music' to 'C:\Corrupted records' so I don't have to look at, but one of them is

refusing to move. If I try to open it, I get the message "C:\Users\Public\Music\P.O.D. refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer or on a network. Make sure that the disc is inserted correctly, or that you are connected to the Internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the informaqtion could have been moved to another location. »

If I try to get the properties, the type of file is a folder (.) that opens with Windows Shell common. Reading alone and Invisible are unchecked. It is not shared. The requested security information are either unavailable or cannot be displayed. There are no previous Versions. I tried optimizing for music and General items.

I tried to remove it from a command line, and although he can be seen in the directory, I get an error if I try to delete or move it. I tried to delete it in Mode without failure. I tried to create another folder with the same name, and it creates a folder without end '. ", I'm able to remove, but the original is still there. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and iTunesHelper.exe cessation force.   I ran a chkdsk.  I looked in the registry. I tried to reboot in safe mode and try it. I tried to create a new account and delete from there. I tried to reset the permissions. I even deleted my entire library of music. If I try to change properties it tells me that the "system cannot find specified file."

This issue is driving me crazy... I should be able to just go and start over, but I won't be able to copy this particular music folder. I could live without it, I suppose, but I wouldn't not to-I fear that this will happen in folders more if I can't find a solution. I could ignore it, but I am too a retention... I installed servers in a previous life, and when such things happen that we do something more deep is what concerns me in particular.

    Any suggestions? Please?

Hi Zarebeth. I have the answer to your problem. The problem you are having is the same problem I had, it's a file name that ends with a '. '. (one point). That's THE problem, which has also caused all of your previous attempts remove this folder to fail. Windows does not allow you to create such a file, but Mac FACT (you mentioned that your music library lay on an old Mac)! Try for yourself, create a folder in Windows called "P.O.D." and Windows automatically re-writing this folder as "Painter" (note the last missing point). MAC doesn't have a problem with that, you can call your folder "P.O.D." witout any problem (but also allows you to call this 'Painter' folder (note the last missing point)). The only problem is when a folder created on a Mac device ends on a computer Windows, that happened when you copied the musicfolder of your Mac on your Windows 7 laptop. For example, I had the problem with music "C:\Users\Public\Music\M.I.A" and "C:\Users\Public\Music\T.I." after that I copied the files from my Ipod Touch (also a feature of Mac of course) for my new Windows 7 laptop to function.

Now, I can only tell you how to remove this folder, I don't know how to recover all the data that have remained in this "indelible" folder (if any). What you can do of course, is to return to your old Mac, rewrite the "P.O.D." folder as "Painter" (note the last missing point) which will BE recognized by your computer laptop Windows 7.

It's very simple, and you'll wonder how the sollution might actually be this simple :))

GO to "command prompt" (start > all programs > Accessories > prompt) then in the command prompt (the small black screen with white letters), you type (in your case):

    RD/s '\\?\C:\Users\Public\Music\P.O.D.

RD is as a function of deleting files (not for the files).

You will then be asked if you are sure "(Y/N)" and then of course, you type 'Y' and press enter! " And like that... begone is the folder which you so frustrated! Happy days are back! : )
