Remove the automatic update of machine

I am runing XP Professional SP 3.  My pc has been updated overnight, without my knowledge and it gave a message to reboot.  I did, and a major program does not work.  I need to know how to uninstall everything that was installed.  Any help will be appreciated.

Go add/remove programs, check "show updates." Look for the updates have been installed on the date in question and updates that can be removed will be displayed here.

Note the removal of the updates will leave your system vulnerable and unpatched.

PS: Maybe to reconfigure Windows Update notify only-

So how can you control the updates of Windows.

  • Unable to turn off the automatic update of java

Whenever I have untick the box to disable the auto update it asks me my password, and then closes. I open the java Control Panel and the automatic update box is checked again. I tried several times but it remains always on.

No idea how to remove the automatic update?

    Java is still necessary?

    Thank you

According to what you do with the computer, Java may not be necessary. I did not install more and did not have an opportunity where I needed.

  • I can't change the automatic update settings

I noticed recently that the automatic update of windows is no longer asked me whether to download updates. When I checked the settings via the Control Panel setting had been changed to "Install updates automatically". The toolbar is now grayed out and I am unable to choose another option!

I'm the only person using this computer as administrator, with a single user profile. I don't understand why I'm not allowed to change these settings more and you would appreciate the help.

  • Download Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 but the automatic updates do not work.

Hello. Thanks in advance for your help here.

I am at a loss to know what to do.

Recently, I downloaded Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007, which seems to be very well. The problem is the automatic updates do not work. After searching online, I did the start > run > Winver and he says I have Service Pack 3. Then I went to control panel in Add/Remove Programs, and even if it is listed, there is no indication that it is actually installed.

I remember a year or there are problems with SP3, when I tried to upgrade to IE8 so "I THINK" I removed it. Probably shouldn't have done that!  But IE8 has worked fine once I removed it. Microsoft says that we will no longer receive automatic updates to SP2 in June and so we have to upgrade to SP3.  Well, I just don't know what I have on my computer at this point!

Anyway, now I get these failed messages on the updates for the Office:

The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2)
Update for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB967642)
Update of security for Microsoft Office System 2007 (KB951944)
Update of security for Microsoft Office 2007 (KB951550)

So I thought I'd download the SP2.  But I did not know if Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 actually means I have SP2 installed or not.  And I got in such a mess last year I don't want to take any chances again.

I'm sorry that it is a message that is too long. I tried to print screens to attach more information, but that did not work. Let me know what you need.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

    Diane

I found more information. Looking in my history of update for automatic updates, all 4 of these updates failed have the same error Code which is: 0 x 80070663.  I don't know if this info helps solve this problem or not, but that's it.

    Hello

    a. you are able to download and install updates in Windows other than Microsoft Office?

If you have SP3 listed in the Windows Version (winver) which ensures that you have Windows XP SP3 installed.

Let us download the updates manually and install them, here are the links to download.

Note: Make sure also that you have the prerequisites installed as indicated in the articles above.

  • computer crashed after the automatic update Tuesday night

    Hi, Kevin

My computer crashed after the automatic update Tuesday evening. The message indicates that the demand for window vista (which initially provided with the Lenovo computer, that I bought new in 2007) is not valid. When I rebooted and you press F5, it offers 3 options 'Security Mode', but no return explicitly beforehand updated status.

I'm not familiar with uninstalling and restoring systems. Can you walk me through the process? Can I uninstall or restore when the computer is in mode security (limited capacity)? How a WAIK/Windows PE image downloaded to another computer to help me with the computer that is out?

Your suggestion to install SP2 apply to windows vista home basic version, 2007?

    Thank you!

  • KB955759 does not appear when I check the updates manually, but it appears with the yellow shield after you have enabled the automatic updates.

original title: Windows Update acts confused - kb955759 does not appear when I check the updates manually, but it appears with the yellow shield after you have enabled the automatic updates.

I just reset my CMOS settings, writing zeros for my hard drive, repartitioned, reformatted and used the recovery cd Gateway system to get my computer to Windows 98se - factory settings, except at the beginning of the recovery of the system, when it says "press any key for advanced options," I pressed a key and then I unchecked all the default (3rd party) applications including Norton and left only 2 checked: "Updated USB Hub" and "Windows Shutdown Supplement," while nothing has been installed, leaving only win98.

Then I used my disc XP Home (SP2) update.  I, immediately after the upgrade to Windows XP, installed "Office XP with Frontpage, Developer Edition", then Norton 2012 before never connect to the internet.
Then, I connected to the internet and continuously update of Norton, before ever hitting the Windows Update page. The first thing I did then was to activate Windows, and then activate the office.
Then I hit the update of Windows "button" that says "get all your updates in one place... upgraded"Microsoft Update".  I, then, just kept hitting the page update and restart, until I find the SP3.  Then, I took a break, until the next day.

I have an ADSL broadband, with a Linksys EtherFast PCI card.

Then I got SP3, which installed without any problems.
So I just kept "microsoft continuous update" manually (and reboot), until there is no more updates - EXCEPT, I always uncheck Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - which was the only screening at the final stop for the night.  I think that I ticked the box "don't ask me about this update".

Then, in the morning, after you have enabled automatic updates, I noticed the yellow shield - Windows security icon (or whatever it's called), so I clicked on it and checked it was tellimg me was available [when I checked "Custom Install (advanced users)"].  What showed was 1 update - 955759 KB.

After the problem, already at the reformat (months and months), see the yellow shield telling me there are updates available, which were already installed (before rebooting), I checked manually on the internet with IE 8, pressing alt, "T", "U".  There is no updated list.  Then I checked through my history of update (twice), and KB955759 had not been installed.

My update setting is to let windows download ('important') updates, but let me choose when to install them.

What is the right - Windows Update (NO update important reporting) Site, or the yellow shield (reports [a] kb955759 [update])?

I can not yet confirm he is supposed to be an update for XP home kb955759, because I was unable to locate any detailed documentation on this 'thing' that protect the yellow safety seems to think is a significant update.

Just for the heck of it, I have disabled the automatic updates, cleared my browser cache, checked manually, updates from microsoft (windows) and found none (with the exception of software malware removal tool windows [which I have not installed]).  Then, I turned the automatic updates on, and without even being connected to the internet, the yellow shield popped up with the kb955759 "update"...

    Repost...

    1. If you open Internet Explore (only!) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and run a CUSTOM scan, KB955759 appears in results?... If so, you manage to install it and/or security updates available?

2 after no. 1 above [<>], is the 'yellow shield' icon appears in the Notification area (on the left of your clock)?  .. and if yes, by clicking on the 'yellow shield' icon tells you that KB955759 or any other updates is ready-to-be-installed?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

3 after doing 1 # & #2 above [<>], is KB955759 or any other updates offered as a ready-to-install update when you go off your computer?  .. .and if so, you manage to install it?

... I guess that clearing the browser cache does not erase 'downloaded' updates.

Nope. If you want to clear the queue of the update...

    OPTION A:

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > (type or copy/paste) services.msc > click OK
Double-click automatic updates > click stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

    Start > run > (type or copy/paste) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > click OK

Open the download folder and delete its content
    Close the window.

    3. start the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > (type or copy/paste) services.msc > click OK
Double-click automatic updates > click Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)

    OPTION B:

    1. open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336 [don't know the titles, etc..]

    2. make disappear/close the Troubleshooter automatically pop up.

The microsoft security update. Error NET framework 1.1 SPI (my computer is a windows XP version 2002 service pack 3, there was also this (KB2698023) with the error.)

Then, the next time I turned on my computer it says error 0 x 643,.

Then error hpqthb08. exe, NET framework, and then application

    KGshare application error,

I decided to uninstall some things in my add/remove program and then run the automatic updates again and he said that I got none, none.  I was surprised and very confused,

AND now, by turning on my computer it says error oxc0150002.

I guess I had a full blown virus now right?  Can someone help me. I can't wait to take my computer to get my computer fixed. My computer has Norton 360 antivirus on it, before this one, I got the Norton one security.

I already spent a lot on this old computer. Can someone help me with these problems?

Please note that ntoskrnl.exe is a process in the cycle of the initial startup on your computer program.

Try to load your "last known good configuration".

The issue is also known to be caused by a short circuit in the ground cable into the keyboard cable. Make sure that it is not the cause of your error by replacing the keyboard with another keyboard or just disconnect the keyboard from the computer. You can also look at your function "Add or remove programs" If KB2686509 <> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2686509 > is installed.  Install manually if it is not.

If the above doesn't help, try using the Sfc.exe tool - see here > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747

Or run the Chkdsk tool - see here > http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265

If still no luck, you may need to restore the file ntoskrnl. exe as follows:

1 - insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD. Note: If you have a recovery CD or a restore CD and not a Microsoft Windows XP CD is probably the procedure below does not solve your problem.

2 - restart the computer and that the computer starts, you should see a message press any key to boot from the CD. When you see this message press any key.

    3. - in the Microsoft Windows XP setup menu, press the R key to enter the recovery console.

4 - Select the operating system you want to set and enter the administrator password.

    5 - type expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32

    6. - you will be asked if you want to overwrite the file, type Y and press enter to replace the file.

7 - type exit to restart the computer.

  • Remove the downloaded update

Upgrade Windows 10 has been downloaded somewhere on my hard drive. I do not want to install it. How can I know as to where it has been downloaded so that I can remove the upgrade?

I advised my clients to doing what I've been dreading for years - disable automatic update of Windows.

The problem is compounded by a continual road by Microsoft to install Windows 10 on your computer with your permission.  They keep re - install KB3035583 (this is the activation code) on your computer, even if uninstall you it.  The result is a huge download and then constantly nags without a way obvious to say no.

So I advised my clients to stop WU.  Once a month the 2nd Tuesday, they will have an email to advise me to turn on the WU, then to reject specific updates as KB3035583.  After update, they will turn the automatic updates again.

If you see the Windows flag in the bottom right of your screen, the chances are pretty high that your computer already has the Win10 file. Even if you do not, it can be on your computer now anyway.  Here are the instructions on how to get rid of it:

It is likely Win10 has already downloaded on your PC.  If you are using windows 7 and have not installed win10 and do not, here is a procedure that I've used several times and it works.

    1. Remove Windows Update Auto - never tick

    2. Task Manager, processes, find and put an end to GWX.exe

    3. Control Panel, uninstall a program, see installed updates, WAIT until you see the green bar ends its long journey to the right

    4. Now, look for KB3035583, uninstall it

    5. Restart the PC

    6. Disk Cleanup, step 2 for system - it takes some time

  • After the automatic updates of Windows8 all my files disappeared

After that the automatic update performed by Windows8 about two weeks ago, that all my files were deleted, all system settings and favorites are gone. The image of the Office was changed, as well as the background was changed from green to blue. Well, I managed to find my files in a file system, it back office. However, today, I just restarted my computer and the parameters are all back as they were 2 weeks ago but all my files are gone for good. There were about 200GB, now my drive C/watch 390 GB free on 440 Go, so my all files have been deleted. No search engine can find them. They are all gone. I had saved in this project, I worked on during 2 months and have no idea what I'm supposed to do now. How Windows can delete something I never heard it? I have not updated, restored or anything like that. Quite simply, I rebooted my computer.

Can any guru who created this Windows8 how to get the files that my career depends on it?

    Hi Jenny,

To provide the proper resolution, I would need more information on your side.

    1. do you receive any error messages? If Yes, what is the exact error message?

    2. What is the item number knowledge base of the installed Windows Update recently?

    Method 1:
If files are missing from the library, I suggest you try the following steps.

    (a) go to the libraries in Windows Explorer.

(b)with the right button no matter what folder gives you an error.

    (c)delete the folder.

(d)with the right button on the "libraries" folder

    (e), select "restore default libraries".

The folder you just deleted will now be back and fully functional with all your documents safe and sound.

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest you to virus scanner to make sure that the computer is virus-free.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    Note:

    1) the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

    2) if you run the virus scan of the program which is infected with the virus will be deleted. Therefore, reinstall the program. Also, if files and folders are affected by the virus, while they might even get deleted.
