Virtual memory is used only when your physical memory has been exhausted.  This happens usually either when you have not restarted recently, or when you have too many programs running at the same time.  I suggest you reboot at least once a week and if it continues to happen, a purchase more RAM.

  • adding new files or remove the old Windows Media Player files. (Vista)

Since June 2010, I was not able to add new files or remove the old Windows Media Player files.  I can click on a new file and play using WMP or add to a playlist that is currently playing, but it does not recognize that it was added after as I close the program and re-open it.  Or I can delete the files that no longer exist on my computer but WMP always has them as my files.  When I click on add new media, it recognizes the right amount of files I would be adding, says to add them and then nothing is there.

Your media library has probably been corrupted. To reset, follow the instructions for WMP 11 Vista at http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#medialibrary . Note the reset of the library will make you lose all the counts to play and possibly ratings too. Tim Baets

  • How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive?

Original title: Old files Windows, Program Files, etc.

I tried to use before Disk Cleanup and it worked, and I haven't run a complete installation.

I'm having a problem now, this time, and I did a full install.  Disk Cleanup doesn't show any options to remove an old Windows as it did before.

How can I remove the old Windows folder to a different drive?  I also try to remove the Program Files folder, as well as with an implementation since.

It is showing an error message "I need to be in the Administrators group ~", and that TrustedInstaller is owner of the present.

I have a question that "TrustedInstaller" has full authority on the file system, and 'Administrators' has limited access.

I noticed that there are other three to make a total of four names of users who have all or nearly full access to the file system.

  • Remove the child window Parent using WIN API

    Hi all

For a parent-child relationship between two screws using the User32.dll I use the SetParent function and pass the handle of the parent VI and VI child to this function. Now, after this relationship has been established, I want to remove the child from the parent window and use it as an independent VI using WIN API. Can someone help me on this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Fragger Fox!

    Hi Fragger Fox,

I think that it should be possible, if you assign a new parent to the child. Maybe this works if you assign the desktop as a new parent.

    It will be useful.

  • How to remove the virus Windows Task Optimizer

I am running a MAC operating system with a hard disk partitioned with MAC on one partition and Windows XP on the other.  I was trying to download a file from internet on my Windows operating system and an Interface of Microsoft for Windows Task Optimizer displayed on my screen.  I thought it was a real application of MS, ran the software, but it turns out not to be legitimate.  Since this task Windows optimizer, I got my user administrator rights revoked and the fake user took over my machine.  I tried to get the fix for the problem of 2 different PC unsuccessfully service centers.

My files are encrypted and technology that works on my PC told me that some of the files can be transferred to external device, but the files are not able to be open.  It seems that, given that I'm more the administrator of my PC and the encryption was granted by my user profile before that my user profile was raised as a hostage, most of the files cannot be transferred to the external device, and for files that can be transferred, and the file cannot be opened.  I thought that I must now spend $700,00 to be an attempt at data recovery service to recover my files.  I need to access the files, but this seems to be very expensive.

Is there a solution to find the administrative rights on my PC to remove the virus and recover all my data?  The service I have do deal with wants to wipe my entire PC and re-install MAC and Windows XP operating systems.  This doesn't seem to be a real solution to my problem.

    Hi Linda80,

You should be able to find the built-in safe mode administrator account. Check to see if the following is useful.

Method 1: Try to start in safe mode with network. Look for the administrator account.

Method 2: If available, connect and see if you can run the Microsoft Safety Scanner refer to the following link to do the same.

Microsoft Safety Scanner - free online tool for PC health and safety

Check if the files can be opened after the scan. Alternatively, you can try to backup these files on an external hard drive.

Method 3: See if you can give to your account administrator rights.

    1. Right click on my computer. Click on manage.
    2. Expand local users and groups. Click on groups.
    3. Double-click Administrators. Click on Add.
    4. Enter the name of the account on this machine that you want to assign administrator privileges for.
    5. Click on OK. Restart the computer in normal mode to check the issue.
  • is it safe to remove the old windows updates

Is it safe to remove the old updates in Windows Vista?

    Generally, no.

You can use the program compcln.exe to remove the Service pack files and to perpetuate a service pack, as described here:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=2592038

    This program is in C:\Windows\System32

You can uninstall the updates that have been replaced by a later update, but I don't know of an easy way to identify them. I don't think that in doing so, there is a great advantage.

If you uninstall an update that is still necessary, he will be released the next time that WIndows Update is running.

  • How to remove the upgrade Windows 7 Professional of D:-drive?

I bought Windows 7 Professional Upgrade from Windows Vista Home Basic. HUGE MISTAKE! On the Microsoft Store is a nightmare. Finally, I just received a refund. Now, how do the Windows 7 on my D drive where is where idiots to the Microsoft sortore had me download in the first place. now I have vista on drive c and one broke * windows 7 on drive d. HELP, apparently, not a microsoft support t know how?

If the Visa is still functions (you can load a running Vista), then install EasyBCD and follow the instuctions for EasyBCD listed below. When you are finished with the removal of Windows 7 in the boot (according to instructions) menu, then you can reformat the D: partition, which is where you said Windows 7 was installed.

    ================================================

EasyBCD - how to remove the invalid entry:
    http://NeoSmart.NET/DL.php?id=1

When you run EasyBCD, you will see the following great tabs/buttons on the left.

    (1) the display settings: displays the number of entries (bootable version valid and is no longer valid to Windows). The one marked 'default' in the version of Windows that starts if you sit and wait 30 seconds without making a selection using the keyboard. The entrance of remaining are classified by 'Name' (unless renamed all entires will call Windows 7). Drive letter represents the partition that version. If everything that you installed multiple copies of Windows 7 and Vista the path "Bootloader" will always be the same.

    (2) menu of Boot edit: four options 'Up', 'Down', 'Rename' (is very convenient if you want to see a significant name when you first start (I have 5 versions of Windows on one of my test systems, so I reamed the plain jane "Windows 7" "Windows 7 Pro 64-bit" and "Windows 7 Home Premium 32 - Bt, etc." ").)

The last option is "Delete", click on the entry of is no longer valid (for highlight), and click 'delete '.

You will also see a check mark in the "default" (when 30 timeout expires) version of Windows (vista in your case), the computer will start to place a check mark to one you want to keep.

Located at the bottom of 'edit Boot Menu' page is the time-out value, if you want automatically to your only remaining version of Windows just place a check mark in the box "Skip boot menu."

When your done with your changes, be sure to 'Save Settings'.

  • How to remove the additional window when I start LabWindows/CVI or will execute my program?

For a short while (maybe a week or more), I get a small extra window behind my request. Also, when I start LabWindows/CVI, I get the same window. It is a small blank window with the same title as the application. Press close (X) closed the application too.

I don't remember seeing this before and that he doesn't know what has changed on my PC. It also happens with old LabWindows (previously compiled) programs, it seems that something in Windows has changed.  I use Windows XP and LabWindows/CVI 9.0.0 (348).

    Thank you

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

The window that you see is part of the CVI. It is the parent window for all windows of the CVI so much in the environment and execution. As a general rule, this window is hidden way off the screen so that you don't even know it's there. But some video cards have a parameter that requires all windows off the screen to move to the screen. Take a look in your video card settings to see if this setting exists on your pilot. If so, then disabling the setting will allow the window to hide off screen.

  • Remove the Office windows Gallery thumbnails

If I delete them they reappear...

    Hi Aleksa73

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers Forums!

Allows Vista thumbnails cache display faster thumbnails for you having all the images stored in a cache of ready rather than their hard drive loading every time. You could clear the cache of thumbnails if Windows Explorer thumbnails have been corrupted or the file cache has become too big. Clearing the cache of thumbnails is only empty the cache and not delete. The cache will rebuild as Vista reload the thumbnails for the icons in the cache when you browse in Windows Explorer.

Follow these steps to clear the cache of thumbnails:

    1. open Disk Cleanup. (Click on start-> all programs-> Accessories-> system-> right click Disk Cleanup tools and select run as administrator)

2 check the photos and click OK. (See screenshot below)
NOTE: Cache view the size of your thumbnail. More browsing, it can make.

3 click delete files button on the confirmation window

4 disk cleanup will now clear thumbnail cache and close.

You can also try this from the command prompt.

    a. Click Start and in the start menu search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click run as administrator.

    b. at the command prompt, type:

    %SystemRoot%\System32

    Cleanmgr \Cmd.exe/c /sageset:65535 & /sagerun:65535 Cleanmgr

    And then press ENTER.

    Hope this information was useful.

Let me know if it worked.
