Repairing damage dv6: the display hinges

Well, to put it simply, my screen DV6 was open beyond its limit and ripped off.  This thing was sitting for a while, I didn't want to mess with it, until yesterday, I found that it still works fine, except a small gouge in the corner of the screen... so... I would like to see if I can get this thing back together.

The hinges out of the laptop and have a plate towards the inside and the outside. Flanges from the outside have been uprooted and still attatched to the screen itself. More thick, inner flanges torn bosses screw out of the rear plastic shell.

I tried to climb through JB weld, but the plastic is simply too weak to hold even temporarily the screen long enough to try and epoxying the other side of the hinge back together.

At the flanges of hinge outward that the screen itself is around not broken, I'd get a new rear cover of the screen and swap everything out. But, as the metal hinges themselves need to be replaced, I'm lost.  Could I do it myself? I don't know if I'm sailing around I can find a diagram or something that could give me some clue. Someone did he do this type of repair before?  I'm not really that worried for the plastic hinges covers, but it can be other welded parts bradded or plastic, I'm not able to replace...

You figure now, man would hide their valuables before you broke up with the girlfriend of crazy...

Hey AndrewH85,

I see that you have a problem with the screen and hinges.

The best way to go here is probably find a technician to replace it for you.

It's much more complicated than many people think, especially if you have a problem with the LED/LCD screen inside the screen.

Now, I recommend to replace it yourself. You can call HP @18004746836 and see if they have an option to help you fix it.

THX buddy!

    Hello

Don t have had similar problems with my laptop but maybe the display hinges are loose
Usually, these hinges are hidden behind plastic chassis and you would need to disassemble the laptop to get access to these parts.

In general I put t recommend disassemble this laptop pretty.
First of all, you will lose the status of the guarantee if you would remove the plastic cover.
Secondly, you may damage or break this, and I think that that's not worth a risk.

If I was you, I'd spend low and ask a technician for assistance.

  • HP Envy 6 1080 ex the display hinges

Left hinge of my laptop screen is broken. It wasn't any kind of improper handling. He's just on a part-by-part.

I contacted the HP's Service Center and they said that this is the protection against accidental damage and unsecured. To apply for this, you must go to your retailer.

I bought this laptop from Saudi Arabia in Oct 2012 Extra stores. I am currently in India.

The warranty expires October 18, 2013.

I contacted HP guaranteed people in this regard. Apart from the generated response automatically is there was no response from the people of HP. I sent their 6 Oct. Stores Extra pair did not.

I googled "hp envy 6 1080ex the display hinges" and the first result I got was some complaints in the hp forum about hinge problems all over the world.

I came to the conclusion than that a flaaw design. If HP must take care of this, even if it's not under warranty.

I hope that someone from HP will help me.

    See you soon

    Hi Dave

I can imagine that it can be difficult to find these pieces for this older model laptop. eBay is the right place to search for such parts. You can try to contact the service provider allowed in your country, but I'm pretty skeptical, they will be able to order these parts.

But I think they can help you and give you the exact order number. Using this issue maybe you will be lucky and find this Googling pieces around.

  • Equium A200 - how to remove the display?

    Hello.

I need to remove the screen on my Equium A200 but there seems to be no screws to enter.
None of the guides I found works for this model.

No one knows how to do?

    Thank you
    Dan

    Hello

Disassembly of the laptop is not really easy it s really complicated.
If you have no experience so you should not do this, you may damage other parts

But as far as I know to remove the keyboard and the top cover Assembly.
Then you can remove the four screws under the rubber covers. This allows you to remove the LCD screen bezel.
New measures, you will need to remove the screws from the display hinges.

As I mentioned above; It's not so easy and be careful if you would remove anything

  • Defragmentation of damage to the System Partition?

As I understand it, the partition system for refers to the system disk always displayed at the bottom of the list of Disk Defragmenter in Windows 7.

Years, I read a few posts that said including the system disk in defrag tracks caused no change in System one way or another.  Therefore, it is included in all my defrags, and he grew a little whenever I did.  Now, it is 54%.

Am I understand that growth of defragmentation displayed is only just the growth in the number of System Restore Points I accumulate over time between the defragmentations?  If so, am I causing repairable damage to the partition System reserved ?

I don't think you do any damage, but it is not advisable to always try to modify this disc with the tools, not even defrag (given that the contents of the drive does not change, it cannot break in any case).

  • The display is loose on my Portege R500 - how to tighten the hinges?

The display is loose on my portege r500.

Does anyone know how to tighten the hinges?

    Hello

I think that this procedure is very delicate and in my opinion it s a job for a technician.
I m don't know if you can tighten the hinges if necessary he s need to replace the old hinges

Is it the hinges are hidden under the plastic around the screen frame.
The LCD mask is fixed with screws I m but not quite sure how much could be three screws. They are hidden under the mask of small cushions.
You will need to remove and the tightness of the extra mask.
Then you can remove the LCD mask. The hinges should be visible now

But there s more complicated as it may seem the R500 is a nice unit, and it would be a shame that you would damage the LCD screen. The LCD screen is an expensive part, and in my opinion it is worth to ask a professional for help

  • HP Pavilion DV6-6117dx - horizontal flickering lines appear after the display turns off automatically

The DV6-6117dx model (as well as other HP Pavilion laptops) have experienced a problem where the screen will display a flickering, horizontal line to the top of the screen, after it has been automatically disabled (note: not in sleep or Standby Mode).

There is a setting to "off the display of [X] minutes" in power options.  I have my DV6-6117dx value dim the screen after 10 minutes and turn it off after 15 minutes of inactivity.  Sometimes, but not always, when I move the mouse to turn the screen back on, a couple of flickering horizontal lines will appear at the top of the screen.  It is very annoying, and the only way to remove them and to have the screen back to normal is one.) put the computer to sleep and wake it or b.) restart the entire system.

Everything by putting the laptop to sleep and wake-up is not a huge problem, I wouldn't do that, period.  I owned a laptop Toshiba for about 6 years and never had a problem with her like this (the reason why I bought a new laptop was because my old man was 6 years old and the technology was outdated a lot, a lot).

HP says it's a software problem, but it did come with a way to fix it yet (at least not that I've found).  I ask all the 'Experts' out there if they have a final way to solve this common issue experienced by some models of HP laptops?  I said to uninstall and reinstall video drivers without success.  I said to install video drivers only to AMD, and then only to HP, and then only from Windows Update, but none of these solutions worked.  I said to update BIOS, but it does not solve the problem.  I told him to try to restore the system to the factory settings, but this did not help.  It is obviously a software problem, but nobody at HP seems to have a definitive solution, how to fix it.  Is my only hope to return to my laptop to be replaced by a different model entirely?

I hope that someone out there has an answer, it's a common issue that I know a lot of owners of portable HP experienced.  Thank you!

My laptop has started to get a question where I come back to a page with a black or dark background and it seems as if my brightness has dropped. If I transition to a page of white or clear, it slowly goes back to the original brightness. Is there any software issues I can change in the related settings or would it be a hardware problem? My laptop is out of warranty, so I don't know if I can send it to get her replaced screen if it's a difficult problem. Anyone else having problems with the display of brightness varies when going from dark to light?

The last action I can remember was the upgrade of the AMD Catalyst Center, but I have found no setting he woud change that.

It is because the intel hd graphics driver you have in your system... steps, I followed to resolve are -

    (1) right click on desktop, and then open the graphics properties

    2) click on the column on the left power tab

Select battery 3) in respect of the power source

    (4) uncheck the display power saving technology

    (5) reboot your system

90% of the time it should start without this question for you, 10% of the time, it can further lower your brightness even if you uncheckd the option but a reboot again simply would help

  • Shaking with lines across the display screen

    Hi, can someone please help?

Having used my laptop the other night, I closed it. A few hours later, I opened it again to use it, and although he had not been touched, both lines have one appeared on the screen.
We run about a quarter turn from the left, from top to bottom, and the other completely across the top.

Also, the display keeps excitement up and down, shaking so I can't read it.

Anyone know what this problem could be? And if she needs to be repaired is it covered by the standard warranty?

Also there is no external damage and nothing has been done to the laptop - so I am very confused!

    Help, please.

    Problem may be defective.
How to tell if the repair is covered by warranty when you didn t wrote what model of laptop you have and how old is it? But if you have the Satellite C it must be fairly new, so it will certainly be covered by the standard warranty.

  • HP Pavilion DV6-3052TX left hinge broke

    Hello

I have purchaced HP DV6-3052TX, Jun 2010. During the warranty period, I heard "thuck" sound crackling while opening & closing the lid near the left hinge. I went to HP Service Center to get it repaired, but they do not have to set properly. But now the top panel is detached from the base Panel when I just opened the cover and the left hinge seems to be dislocated. This problem occurs again and again, for most users that clearly indicates the manufacturing defect. I have found so many cases on the Internet (some of them are on the Web site of the consumer forum and some are here on the website of HP support forum) who explained the same hinge broken with pattern are also the same problem. I have invested 60K /-for my laptop, but now there is a defect in the design and there is no point in fixing the problem reappears again. Its really frustrating after having invested so what you get is a machine of defection. It is very annoying and not according to the standard of HP. As a customer of HP, we expect better quality.

I ask you please review and do what is necessary.
