Replace booleg copy of Vista Ultimate with a genuine copy of XP

I had a laptop with a bootleg copy of Vista Ultimate on it.  I'd rather be 'legitimate '.  I have a genuine XP installation disc, but can't seem to install on Vista.  How can I get rid of Vista Ultimate?

Hello

I found this information for you:

"First of all, go to your computer manufacturer's website and check if your computer model has XP drivers available for it...

If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.

Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.

Then follow the steps below to do a clean install.

http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp

Once installed, reload ALL your other programs of original media, or download again.

Reload all drivers and utilities for your motherboard. »

______________________________________________________

and make sure you boot from the XP cd to start the installation.

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

  • How to replace installed counterfeit Windows 7 Ultimate with purchased Windows 7 Ultimate

When I bought a PC custom a year ago, it came pre-installed with Win7Ultimate. Now, I get a message 'not genuine' on the desktop. Sometimes I received a pop up box that says something in the sense of "can be counterfeit software use. I had problems with another program on this machine, that would not address the seller, so I do not know that the OS is hacked as well. I just purchased the complete program of Win7Ultimate by Amazon (sorry, MS, but they were $30 cheaper).  :-)

My question is: what I have to do a complete reinstallation of the operating system from the disk, or can I register/activate what is already installed but with my new product key?

I fear that the operating system will stop working altogether so really would like to get this beast "authentic" as soon as POSSIBLE. Thanks for any advice you have.

not really. usually takes an eye on the diagnostic report after installation

Here are some links you may have to look at.
  • Can I use the existing Windows vista ultimate 32-bit (real) key to do a fresh install (due to errors of unrecognized class) win vista home premium 32 bit (original cd)?

Inspiron Dell 1720 2.2 GHz, 2 GB ram, Win Vista ultimate SP2.

Cannot install all programs currently due to errors of windows install. I have tried scannow in cmd which seems to close automatically in less than a second to click on enter.
I tried switching win installer services then in manual and automatic ('start' ed) with no ruling change ever to the problem. So now since I can't possibly find another solution, I'm doing a new installation of windows vista Home premium 32-bit which I did not have the keys. So the query. I would appreciate any comment how to solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

Look at the product key shown on the label on the computer.  Which edition of Windows is on the label?  If the label says Home Premium Home Premium dvd is likely a recovery disk only.  So if there is a recovery disk, so it can reinstall a new copy of Home Premium and all reset the status of the plant.  You will lose your programs and data.

If the Premium family edition dvd is a dvd retail then you may be able to do a repair on-site modernization (aka ' install fix') of Vista Ultimate with it, but please answer these questions first.

  • Upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition of Windows 7 Professional?

Original title: Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade

I have a HP laptop that originally shipped with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate with. I wonder if I've been upgrading to Windows 7 I can go with Windows 7 Professional? What is Ultimate? I am not wanting to use Windows 7 Home Premium, but I guess if I have no choice, then it is what it is.

Thank you in advance for your help!

I look after 150 Windows 7 client computers.  I can inspires you much insight that there is virtually no reason for a user of typical computer use anything more expensive than the publishing house.  Virtually all the differences are useful for system administrators and advanced users.

That being said, you may have a lot of trouble FINDING any edition of Windows 7 other than professional, due to rules of Microsoft.  However, my advice to my clients is to buy the House if you can find and save your money.

You first need to know if your Vista machine can support 64-bit.  It is possible, if you want to install.  Then add memory at least 4 gigabytes.

Also, before everything that you can do that, strongly recommend that you evaluate the status of your hard drive.  Portable hard drives are usually the first thing to fail in a laptop.  You must determine if you need to replace the hard drive first.  In fact, it's what I would do.  You can test the EQUIPMENT of your drive by running a software tester training from the manufacturer of your hard drive.  If you pass along the model number of your player (Device Manager shows it), I'll answer with a link to this software.

Other tips: do not use the UPGRADE option.  All operating system installations must be clean, or so-called Custom in the installation process.

  • Strategy to put the new 320 gig HD (Vista Ultimate) i in my Inspiron E1505?

I chose XP - pro, when I bought my E1505 two years ago, but I knew I'd finally Vista so I made sure that the notebook had the necessary material.

Well, that time is here now, and I decided that I put Vista on a new HD but keep my old 100 gig HD just as there are (under XP - pro)... just in case.

So I acquired a new concert 320 HD caddy, a new copy under license of Vista Ultimate (with SP 1 including disc) and the Dell "Reinstall MediaDirect" DVD. Now I will download all the drviers of Dell Vista and put them on an external HD (and CD) so I'll have to their loan.

I think it's all that I need (pls advise otherwise true) and, according to the Vista Upgrade Advisor, my Inspiron should be Ultimate without any problems.

Here's my current strategy. I would like your comments.

    1. Put the new HD into the caddy and install
    2. Run the DVD in Dell MediaDirect
    3. Install Vista Ultimate
    4. Installation of SP1
    5. Install the drivers
    6. Reinstall the software (MS Office, Adobe, etc.)

Seems nice and simple, so I'm probably missing something... Am I?

Did you check with the person who built or sold your computer?

If your computer is a customized version, you can use a Version of Vista retail.

You can also download and install SP1 and SP2 if necessary.

    I hope this helps.

  • Licensing issue? I need to replace the default motherboard with a 'Detail' education Vista Ultimate Upgrade on top of XP "OEM." Can legitimately transfer my license everywhere and how?

I am currently a computer on which I already installed XP OEM and upgraded to the edition upgrade Vista Ultimate retailers through the ultimate steal Microsoft.

    [Reminder]

The problem I have is that I've recently updated my graphics card to a card of Nvidia 7300GS card Nvidia GT240 on which my motherboard was properly assessed. However, due to some unfortunate circumstances (I dunno if it's associated graphics or an electrical surge problem, I suspect the latter as the card is fine) my PCI Express slot is fried! This resulted in the motherboard being unable to start any card in the PCI Express slot and gives a series of BIOS beep error codes. I even dug my old graphics (7300GS) and he was still unable to boot. Accordingly, I need to replace the motherboard for the PCI Express slot works if I use a graphics card.

    [Problem]

Since the license Vista Retail Upgrade that I use currently is the edition of 'detail', can I simply change my motherboard everything and turn it back on, or is it more complex because it is installed on the high XP OEM that is bound to the default motherboard? What are my options?

I have to buy another XP OEM license and reinstall everything from scratch? What happens if I didn't reinstall and just changed the motherboard and drivers updated my current installation? Is - is this legitimate?

As I understand it, the Windows for OEM license allows a person replace a motherboard of 'default' (GA-M55plus-S3G in my case) for a replacement under certain conditions, mainly as for everything. Am I entitled to it? If so, what motherboard would be I can replace by although it is considered an upgrade? I have in mind an ASUS M4A78L-M as it is cheap and comes with connectors female jack audio 8 channels on the backplate was on my old motherboard.

My main confusion is to know what license applies to me because of the upgrade process, retail of Vista or XP OEM? Upgrades medium I improve my driver's license?

I would like to solve this problem without canceling my licenst but just don't know how?

Thank you very much for any help or advice.

  • Reinstalling Vista Ultimate, crashes at copying the files

I am trying to reinstall Vista Ultimate and it will not complete the installation. I just had my hard drive replaced with a new drive from Western Digital. The computer loads fine installation. She saw the new drive. I created a partition and formatted the drive and clicked next to the installation. It goes to the screen next where he hangs up on copying them files and displays a message saying that it cannot prepare the computer for the next step and restart the installation. I done it twice now and got the same thing. How do the installation to proceed?

    * original title - I'm trying to reinstall Vista Ultimate and it will not accomplish the install.*

    Hi dgeffers,

Please see the troubleshooting following thanks to Thahaseena M, the technical support engineer:

I suggest you to disconnect all external devices that are connected to the system such as (printers, scanners, etc.) and see if the problem is resolved.

This occurs mainly, if the system (hardware or software) is not compatible with the operating system that you are trying to install on the system. I suggest you to format the partition in which you try to install Windows Vista, and then check if you are able to install the operating system or not.

    Hello

No - what are the two Acers come with a recovery disk?

If this is not the case, one of them would have a recovery partion, which specifically is to reinstall the operating system on it.

With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process.

All data are lost when you do the above.

And for the lost disc, contact Acer and ask them to send you recovery disks.

They do that for a small fee:

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
