Replace the drive failed in md1200

Hello

I have a drive failing in my md1200. He was part of a redundant virtual disk (raid5) with a hot spare. The virtual drive has been rebuilt with the replacement immediately and shows green. The failed drive flashes orange in the md1200. There is no option to take the disk offline in OpenManage 7.4, just blink/unblink drive. I expect a replacement drive tomorrow. The manual gives me two steps in replacing a drive in the scenario above, the first is:

1. remove the defective drive. (!)

Can I simply press the release button and remove the disc out while the leds are flashing orange? Or should I do something else? The cli utility details an order to prepare a disk for removal, but gives no further explanation...

Pointers would be useful

Thank you

Hello davetoo2,

You can just pull the defective drive off the MD1200 & then once your replacement drive arrived you can insert it into the empty location since your spare disk drive is successfully completed reconstruction. The reader should have turned off once that the MD1200 he marked as failed, but I've seen this happen several times & pulling the reader should not harm your drive virtual raid 5.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello:

In my view, there is nothing you can do to repair the drive except to replace it.

You can run the checkdisk utility and check both boxes.

  • HP Pavilion TouchSmart 23-f202: no boot disk was detected or the drive failed

On startup, I get the message "no boot disk was detected or the drive failed.

I bought a new H/D, installed and at startup I get the same message that I got on the old H/D.

As there was no disc provided with the computer when I bought what I'm doing, had to do to get this sucker to the top and work?

    Hi @Jimmy56,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand that you had a type "no boot drive has been detected" error at startup to the top, and you have replaced the hard drive and have the same problem. I'm happy to help you with this.

If replace you the original hard disk, you can use the following to test the hard drive. It is possible, there was a connectivity issue and just re-allocation of places the hard drive could make a difference. Computers HP - display of error HDD before starting the computer

The most recent hard disk you put in, if not there was no operating system installed, you'll get the same type of message. You could make the same diagnosis of HDD from the link above, just to make sure that the disc is good.

Please let me know the results, but so just install the original in the system hard disk works, and it starts correctly, so please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • replacing a drive failing on vsphere host

    Dear all,

I need to clarify something here. In the environment for both blade servers configured with Raid 1, a balde running Esxi 4.0, 208167 and other is Esxi running 5.0, 914586. Recently, one of the player on each blade is projecting an orange light.

I need to know the defective disk can be replaced online at vpshere host? Something special to be taken in charge power off.

    Kind regards

It depends on whether the drives are hot pluggable. Where they are - which should be the case for the company's servers - it is actually better to replace the drives online. In this way the controller knows which disk has been replaced and that one is healthy, that must be synchronized to the new. Check again with the documentation of the service provider to a controller. Another tip, if you replace a disk online, make sure that you wait at least a minute or two after removing the failed drive and before inserting the new disc, to allow the controller to properly recognize the replacement!

Have installed Photoshop CS4. Replaced the drive hard and now I get error code 150:30. What should I do to get it working again

Migration of CS4 breaks the license. That's what 150:30 means. Assuming you are using a Mac.

You can use the Terminal method to repair the license... but I stress that carefully read you and understand the instructions here before you run it. beginning

  • Replacing the drive system of IQ770

My IQ770 system disk is defective and must be replaced.

Anyone know where I can find details on replacing this drive?

    Easy,.

Take a SATA on your preferred provider. 30 GB - 10 000 tb

    Example of 500 GB = £30

Better yet to catch one in a basket, then you get a caddy for an extra 10 or 15 dollars.

But 3.5 "disk right!  You can use a notebook drive, they work too, but perhaps not as well.

Find an imaging tool to perform disk to disk cloning (ghosting).

Remove the current disc, connect to a shopping cart.

connect new drive to a shopping cart

Connect to a working machine and clone.

I don't think that you can clone an active (System) drive, that's why I said remove.

But there may be other methods around to clone the disks these days.

Maybe start on OS linux on CD, with a disk in the machine and the other in the caddy.

There are always several ways to peel a Banana.

In any case, cloning the drive will ensure that you keep your intact recovery partition.

Once cloned infact it will be just plug and

the machine will be exactly how it was, but a new drive.

    Ahhhh... the disk location... ??

    Raise the screen,

You will find the release in the central section, the top of the front façade.

(above the crack CD and scale, below the joint)

This will push down (not in) and the rear is going to jump off.

Loosen the two lower screws of caddy, remove the two more top of the page.

To replace the back cover just hold against the contact surface

and press the release button again, do not try to break all just come back on!

If you just bend the metal tabs to the original shape once you fail.

The rest should be simple veil.

    Hope that helps.

    HV.

  • (Redirected) Alienware Aurora R4 - replacement hard drive failed by disk image

I went to the Dell website and ran the diagnostics for my R4 Aurora. He said that the hard drive had no 2 tests. So, Dell quickly sending a hard drive 2 TB of replacement. I received it today. The bag of the hard drive has a sticker that says "image". I guess that means that a new installation of my Windows 7 Ultimate factory has been installed on the hard disk. I did not receive any instructions, except to say that I need to replace the failed hard drive and return it within 30 days. OK, I can do the physical dominance, but there are a lot of questions, I feel unanswered.

Where are the instructions step by step to do this?

Should I get the ID product, s/serials for Windows 7 and office products that I have on the old drive?

Someone please point me in the right direction. My warranty includes no cat, and Facebook and Twitter are not my best subjects when it comes to getting help.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. The moderators of Dell, plese chime and let me know as well.

  • Need to replace the drive but not allowing OpenManage not not fault reader must be set to 'offline '.

    Hello

We hope a quick and easy solution to what I'm procrastinating at the moment.

Have a server Poweredge 1800 (PERC 4/SC, RAID5) and got a failure on one of the SCSI drives. It's hot and we got the replacement.

However, OpenManage is not let me put the failed drive to 'offline' so that I can share. I'll choose the option offline in the menu drop down and when running it just empty screens (see photo). Is this a symptom of something not quite right? No problem with other options (blink/unblink).

If not can I just start in the PERC menu, set the active player in offline mode, swap, set the new drive to rebuild from there?

Seems to be a split view when I look at other similar questions on other threads in forum, for example, some say that you should just pull the drive and Exchange even without putting off line first.

    Thank you

    Alex

    Alex,

It is possible that you are using an older version of the OMSA or that the controller is out of date.

With the drive is not going offline. What you can do is to the server once it is off, then remove the disc. Powered with nothing in this niche, the table should show that degraded. Insert the replacement drive and it should start to rebuild.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Replacing the drive HARD on Portege R700

    Hello

I just ordered a R700 and hope to upgrade the HARD drive of 320 GB for one SSD OCZ Vertex 2.
Is it easy to replace the hard drive in the R700? Should I remove the keyboard is a Panel on the back?
What size hard disk will - 2.5 "or 1.8"?
A SSD will be simply connect using existing connections, or something else there?

    See you soon.

According to the specifications of the laptop Portege R700 has 2.5 HARD drive is HDD with SATA interface, so I think that you should order 2.5 SSD with standard SATA connectors.

HARD drive is placed on the bottom side near the cooling vent and it is fixed with a screw only.

Remove the screws and HARD drive. You will see how the HARD disc is placed and how it must be removed.
It's very simple and you can do it alone.

  • Replacing the drive HARD Satellite Pro 4280

I have a SP 4280 and the original hard drive on it does not have earlier. I bought a Hitachi Travelstar 5K 100 40 GB replacement, but I can't seem to make it work. FDisk recognizes the disc as a 40 GB drive and seems to format the drive. However, attempts to write anything to generate results in an error message "invalid media".

Installation using XP Pro format the drive gives me an error message in the sense of "Windows cannot format the drive.

I have attached the drive to my PC via a cable of adapter 2.5 "and it seems to work fine. I also use the latest version of the BIOS on my laptop. It is not the settings of 'cable' rider select and 0/1 on the drive.

Someone knows what the problem is, or that I couldn't do or have suggestions to raise my drive and running?

    Cheers in advance

    Hello

Your device was shipped with a 6 GB HARD drive.
In my opinion, the BIOS has a few problems with the recognition of the HARD drive because of the large size of HARD drive. Unfortunately, I put t see any possibility to solve the problem.

Yes, I also noticed that not all information can be found in single user manuals.
