Satellite A660 - 1 H 7 - How to replace the hard drive and reinstall Windows 7
Hi all
I'm frequently getting warnings about the health of my hard drive and while it is not catastrophic, I've been umming and ahhing (?) on the replacement of an SSD in the future anyway so thought it was a good excuse.
My real question is, what the procedure is perfect (or greater) for Windows 7 migration to the new drive? I think I want a default installation because this laptop has had so many programs installed/uninstalled it's probably a bit of a mess.
I have created 4 recovery DVD disks but have seen on the net they don't work and that download an ISO with the vignette product key can work either. I can't really afford interruption much (or all) so I try to do it safely and securely as possible!
Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your time,.
Scott> what the procedure is perfect (or greater) for Windows 7 migration to the new drive?
I think the fastest solution is the use of the recovery disk that you created using the recovery media creator Toshiba. I don't see a reason why it should not work as part of a new SSD.
I also have another recommendation.
You can create an image of your current HDD (partitions) using internal Windows 7 Backup and restore
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/products/features/backup-and-restoreAfter using the recovery disk, you can use the created image to get the current status.

How can I fix without having to reinstall? I did a backup using 10 Acroenis and restored the image. Windows 7 shows that it is enabled, but is not authentic.
Thank you
John

The product key on my laptop does not work when I try to verify that it is authentic?
Did you install the same version of Windows that came on the phone, as in Windows 7 Home Premium (it is the most common version that I see on the portable class of consumers). The key works only for the original version.

Replacing the hard drive and reinstall Windows
I installed a new SSD after and an old man died. I have software and codes appropriate for Full XP and Windows Vista. I got the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. I forgot Windows 7 is an upgrade and commissioned first (with all updates, antivirus, MS Office and some other programs) I now use the using the 30-day trial option. So here's the question...
I know the standard answer is to wipe everything and start loading XP or Vista then "redevelopment" of Win 7, but I have to ask. If I have good previous codes of my Windows operating system and the upgrade activation code for my Win 7, is there a way to convince the customer to activate my product remotely or just give me an activation code which will keep me upward and running? This will save a lot of time and effort for me.
Respectfully,.
-Mike
Have you tried to restart by phone?
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950929/en-usHowever, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.
15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.
So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

If you have a retail version of Windows XP, you must perform a repair installation and install the new drivers of motherboard

Windows 8 license after replacing the HARD drive
Original title: change of equipment (HARD drive)
Good night, I have a computer laptop windows 8 and I fear that the HARD drive (malfunction) he'll need replacement.
My question is, what will happen to my windows 8 license, once my current HARD drive stop working (because the key is encrypted in the bios)?Please note that in the country where I live customer support is, at best, ineffective, so personal attention is not an option.Thank you before hand.Send you my best regards.Hi, Caesar,
Activation pairs your product key in your hardware configuration and helps to verify that your copy of Windows is not been used on more computers than to allow the 3668Microsoft Software License Terms.
If you change the hardware on your PC, you must contact support to activate Windows by phone.
As you have decided to replace the hard drive, you could face an activation/Windows not genuine error. You can follow these steps to make a phone activation.
a. press Windows key + X , then click run, then type: slui.exe 4
b. press the ENTER key
c. Select your country from the list.
d. choose telephone activation .
e. stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
f. explain your problem to the support person

Replacing the hard drive HP G62-450SA model / recovery. Windows 7
Hello
Last week my laptop started running very slowly, and after a few tests, it seems that the hard drive is on its way.
I phoned to HP supports, however is out of warranty I wasn't able to get a real support, but advised him to watch the online support pages to back up my files, create a file recovery on a usb device and then it would be as simple as taking on the old hard drive, put in the new, and following the instructions to recover my system and files.
So after these tips, I've created:
-A recovery image USB on a Virgin USB key, using the Recovery Manager
-A backup on an external hard drive using the backup and restore
-An image of the system by using the backup and restore.
Then I replaced the hard drive.
When I turned on the laptop all I get is a black screen that says "no boot device - insert the diskette and press any key".
I have not all discs. I thought that was the point of creating the recovery image on the USB key? I insert the USB key, and it is not recognized.
If at this point, I'm stuck. I'm not all boards because HP say they have to charge me.
Please can anyone here tell me what to do next? What I need to buy recovery discs or is there a way I can install the new hard drive by using the above files?
Thanks in advance
Hello
You are welcome
Another option, you can try would be to restore the system image you created - you can do the following.
If you do not, use another PC to create a rescue CD Windows 7. Download the ISO relevant among the links below.
You must use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn options) to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.
When creating, type following the ESC key as soon as you start the launch of the laptop Boot Menu, and then insert the rescue CD. Select boot options (usually f9 ), use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER. You can also get a prompt to "Press any key to" continuous - it if requested.
Connect the drive that contains the system image you have created and then follow method 3 below to reload the image on the new HARD drive.
Kind regards

Hello:
Chapter 3 of the service manual indicates that you can go to a 500 GB 7 200 RPN SATA II HDD.
http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01963667.PDF
I recommend these to this provider if you live in the United States.

320 GB:

250 GB: (the 320 GB drive is cheaper)

You will also need to order a set of recovery disks to reinstall the operating system and the programs supplied with your PC if did you not have a game when you got the laptop.

My internal hard drive went bad in my laptop, easy to replace and relatively inexpensive. However, the laptop came not with the windows disk. So, how can I reinstall windows once I replaced the hard drive?
Basically, you have two choices. You can communicate with the person who made the computer and see if they can provide either a set of Windows Vista restore disks (I would assume) or an installation for Windows Vista (probably OEM) DVD. If the second choice, determine if you will need to download device drivers or software packages from their web site. OR, you can purchase the operating system of your choice, retail. The wisdom is that, if this is your choice, you see if you will need the device drivers and get those of the web site of the manufacturer.
Once you have the disks, install in the usual way.

I just replaced the hard drive in my PC with my arrival of the damaged disc. I'm wondering now "activate Windows now". The code on the computer case was partly carried away and I do not have a record of it. The software has been activated once already. Suggestions, please.
original title: hard drive swap.Use a magnifying glass and a strong light and see if you can retrieve the key. It is not registered anywhere except on the label. They are applied at the factory in batches, and there is no record that the key is affixed to a specific computer. Recover what you can and then try to activate by phone.
To activate Windows Vista by phone, follow these steps: click Start, and then click computer. Click System Properties on the toolbar, and then click click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation area.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue. The Windows of Activation Wizard starts. Click use the telephone system automated in the Windows Wizard of Activation.

Reinstalling Windows 8 (or 10) after replacing the hard drive
I need to replace the hard drive on my Inspiron 13-5323. It came with the factory "injected" Windows 8 on the motherboard. Subsequently, I've upgraded to 8.1 Windows, then Windows 10. With no Windows disk and no product key, how can I reinstall Windows on the new drive?

I had pre installed windows vista on my laptop. now, I replaced the hard drive. so, can we recover only windows giving you the serial number? I have sony laptop.
How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
