Replacement for LiveCycle Designer

I learned recently from a customer who is Adobe () will replace LiveCycle Designer with a new program and it will have to redo all their forms with this new program, and that they would use rather a contractor who is familiar with this new program.

Whereas, I followed what happens with LiveCycle, I hardly believe that there is a new program that Adobe will come out with as a replacement for LiveCycle Designer ES4.

Someone from Adobe could confirm or deny the existence of this new program. My opinion is that the new management wants to change contactors just and that it is not honest.

Kind regards

Martin

It is completely wrong.   There is no replacement for LiveCycle Designer ES4 and you won't have to redo you forms in another tool.  Designer will continue to exist and be improved.  As you may know, we had just one major release in March and a service pack release in September that includes updates to designer.

Please contact me with a private message where you heard that.   I would like to reach out to your source and set the record straight.

Thank you

  • Books or guides for Livecycle Designer

    Hello

    as I created forms with Adobe Livecycle Designer, this forum is a great help! However, I was looking for a book or manual about Livecycle Designer. There are several of them, but can anyone recommend a specific book?

    Thank you

    Erik

    Hi Erik,

    I strongly recommend to create dynamic with LC Designer Forms by JP Terry - excellent!

    A book that does not deal with scripts at all, but is very good is the fact that the work by Caroline Jarrett and Gerry Gaffney.

    The Adobe PDF Forms Bible is correct, but focuses mainly on AcroForms.

    WindJack Solutions have a service on subscription for the scripts and solutions to http://www.pdfscripting.com. There a lot of AcroForm script which can be modified according to LC designer and a growing library of LC Designer solutions.

    Here are some online resources you might find useful:

  • Requirements for forms designed in Livecycle PDF reader

    HI guys,.

    I designed some forms of dynamic pdf which was developed using Livecycle Designer ES. These forms are fillable online forms and I will download on my site for my users can open these forms in a browser, fill in the form online and print it for their personal use. These forms are more like tools for users online. To do this, I also provide my users with a troubleshooting guide, so they can refer to it if they cannot open the forms or having difficulties to display the forms correctly. So I just now, I am working on the creation of this troubleshooting documentation and I don't want to give the wrong info to my users so some clarification and some doubts and I was wondering if you guys can help out me...

    (1) according to what I understand, I think that users must have at least a v.8.0 Acrobat Reader to complete these dynamic forms designed in livecycle designer ARE. This is right? So I think go on my memory, because I think I read this somewhere. would you be able to clarify that? I have the right version?

    (2) in addition, as a result, I understand that users need to have a browser Acrobat reader to open PDF files in a browser. So, I'll add a list of the different download links for pdf plugin for different browsers.

    (3) I was wondering, what happens if the user does not have acrobat reader installed on their computer? What are the other common pdf readers who use different users? I know there are tons out there, but I try to understand the more frequent than the majority of people other than Acrobat Reader use. I mean the mac or other OS users. These forms will also work in other pdf readers? Is there is a list of the different pdf readers and versions requirements so that these forms of livecycle to work?

    (4) other than the above, think that if I need to talk about anything that any other troubleshooting documentation? The points that I may have missed?

    Sorry... This is the first time I'm downloading these forms online and I'm trying to understand the requirements that I may be able to help my users if they experience problems. So any help is very appreciated!

    Thank you..

    You can set a password for the permissions on the form using Adobe Designer template (file > properties > Security PDF).  If you set the permissions to "do not allow changes", you must provide the password to open the PDF file in Adobe Designer.  End users, the form do not have to enter a password to open it for fitness to drive.

  • What is the latest version of adobe livecycle designer for mac?

    Hello guys,.

    I am new to Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

    Can someone guide me what is the latest version for Mac

    Thanks in advance.

    Concerning

    HARI

    Hi HARI,.

    Yes, this short video shows Designer LC (although an earlier version).

    The video shows how to create a dynamic form, where you can add and remove items at time of execution and other dynamic features. Develop this type of form, you will need to LC Designer ES2 (current version: 9). as I said it works on Windows, so you would need a virtual machine on the Mac to run Windows.

    LC Designer is bundled with Acrobat X Pro for Windows (note it does NOT come with Acrobat X Pro for Mac). See http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/matrix.html.

    You must also take into account what your users will have to fill out the forms: Acrobat or Reader. There are some features that are not available in Reader unless you drive to activate the form. For example users with reader will not be able to save their data in a form that has no active drive.

    More information on that here: http://assure.ly/gYyYc2

    You can also see some forms of short excerpt here, which will give you an idea about some of the dynamic features: http://assure.ly/eEPuCM. All the these were created with LC Designer.

    Forms created in LC Designer are according to the XFA specification. They are wrapped in a PDF wrapper that allows then to be opened in Acrobat/Reader. However, they are not like a standard/native PDF and some features of Acrobat Standard, as his comments are not available.

    You can also create forms directly in Acrobat, these are called AcroForms. They can be used to collect data, but don't usually have the same level of dynamic behavior that you saw in the video.

    There are many examples on the forums, then I recommend that you explore these before making any purchase. There may be a learning curve, depending on whether you have scripted before.

    Hope that helps,

    Niall

  • How can I use a script in a Livecycle Designer form, to force the display of text in title case?

    Hello

    I'm a 'newbie' who's DIY'ing the construction of a dynamic form using Adobe Livecycle Designer 7 (I know it's a VERY old version!)

    [Thus, any aid that arrives must be "for Idiots"!]

    I need to build a code (Java script?) so some of my text fields DISPLAY data in the case of title - no matter how the user types in the data.

    Thus, for example, in a text field "address"...

    If someone types in...

    "sherborne 205 avenue.

    -OR-

    "205 Sherborne avenue"

    -OR-

    '205 SHERBORNE AVENUE'...

    I need the data to be DISPLAYED ESSENTIALLY as...

    "205 Sherborne Avenue".

    I found the following online and tried code in the event "output" of the field that I need to change (with 'language' chosen as JavaScript)...

    < this.rawValue = this.rawValue.replace (/ \b([a-z])/g, function (_, original) {return initial.toUpperCase () ;});})   >

    ... Was done to convert all the 'initial' words in uppercase letters - as LONG as they have not ALL typed in capital letters!

    Thus, this code has worked for the first two of my samples for Sherborne Avenue above - but it has NOT worked for the last...

    "205 AVENUE of SHERBORNE" does NOT get converted to title case - which is what I need help.

    Thanks in advance...

    I divided it in multimuple lines, but you could do without doubt in one if you wish

    var sometext = this.rawValue;

    someText = sometext.toLowerCase ();

    this.rawValue = sometext.replace (/ \b([a-z])/g, function (_, original) {return initial.toUpperCase () ;});})

  • Where is the event double-click in Adobe LiveCycle Designer

    Hi Experts:

    I tried to put the code in a double-click event in Adobe LiveCycle Designer, but could not find the event. There is a 'Click' event, but who doesn't.

    Am I missing something here?

    Thank you

    Jen

    Hi Jen,

    I was surprised, it was missing the double click but I use the following code in the click event, simply replace the "[my double click on the code]" and "[my single click code]" with your code single and double click.  This the single code delay, click event for 400ms see if a second click is coming, you can play with the 400ms because you must balance responsiveness with a single click with double click.

    If (new Date() - this.date)<>

    {

    app.clearTimeOut (this.timeout);

    This.date = undefined;

    [my double click on the code]

    }

    on the other

    {

    If (xfa.event.fullText! == 'singleClick')

    {

    This.Timeout = app.setTimeOut ('xfa.event.fullText = 'singleClick'; xfa.resolveNode('"+this.somExpression+"').execEvent ('click'); ", 500);

    }

    on the other

    {

    [my code click];

    }

    }

    This.date = new Date();

  • Fill PDF forms with LiveCycle Designer - "Permanence" of technology

    I like to PDF using LiveCycle Designer Forms.  I want to use with the organizations, I work to make the forms to fill out.  But I fear that the forms "break" more easily than the Acroforms.  Generally - is this concern of mine?

    -If I have a subform in a form sank makes 'visible' in certain circumstances and "hidden" in others - using a script JavaScript, this feature still works to proceed?  What happens if Adobe sold Designer?  Is - less likely to work on a similar feature in Acroforms?

    -How about the design of the form itself - if designed with LiveCycle Designer - the text, its implementation of form fields and their features, pages...

    Thanks for your comments.

    It is impossible to say if XFA in Acrobat/Reader support will be in the future. Most of the non Adobe PDF viewers and mobile Adobe's PDF viewers have little or no support for XFA forms, dynamics in particular, which has been a problem for a while. AcroForms were much more support and are part of the standard, ISO 32000, unlike XFA. Used in Acroforms JavaScript is being standardized, but I don't think that is the counterpart of XFA.

  • How to get LiveCycle Designer 4?

    Last year, I downloaded a trial version of LiveCycle Designer.

    I liked it.

    So we bought 4 licenses.

    Now I need to have my PC reconfigured.

    LiveCycle will go bye-bye.

    I need to re - install.

    But there is not more than the trial download available.

    We purchased licenses and no CD Adobe because said us that we needed only the licenses.

    But now all my licenses does me no good if I don't have the product itself, I won't go after the new image (and no, I don't always have the download for a year, or don't I even think I would have kept it)

    So now that the trial is gone and the possibility to download a copy, on which apply my license, how the hell I'm supposed to do?

    Thank you

    Just download Designer Forms AEM. License keys are compatible.

  • Replacement for the J6400

    We currently have a HP OfficeJet J6400 all-in - One Printer.  It works very well and we are happy with it.  However, our platforms are changing.  We have two iPads, iPhones and iPods.  We need to migrate a printer of Air in order to make best use of our technology.  It's a pain to have to send something to another platform (laptop computer) and print it.

    My question is, which HP with Air Print would be a good replacement for the J6400.  We always want all the features of an all-in-One.

    Thank you

    Hello jghannah

    To get a list of AirPrint printers check the right side of the this page.

    Personally, I think that's the Officejet 6500 has more or the Officejet Pro 8600 would be perfect for your upgrade. They share a similar design to that of the 6400 Officejet series. They get all Airprint. For a good comparison between them, see the following link: Officejets with Airprint comparison

  • InDesign how compare to LiveCycle Designer ES to create interactive form?

    Hi all

    I work as an assistant COMPUTER in a company. Before my job, my supervisor used LiveCycle Designer to create all our forms. Much of this work fell on me now, but I'm trying to figure out which program would be best suited. I find LiveCycle to be somewhat archaic, and it does not sit well with other programs, even in the following Adobe. More alarming, that seems not be supported almost as well as any other program Adobe, as if he were to be progressive. I don't want to learn this program if it becomes obsolete as soon as...

    What I don't like not inDesign, is that while it covers all the defects mentioned, it does not seem much LiveDesigner employs some advanced features. It comes to things like the calculations behind the scenes and scripts in the PDF itself. If I missed those options, I'd love to be corrected.

    What does the community think? LiveCycle Designer is worth learning, or inDesign powerful enough to provide what I need?

    Thank you

    If you want stuff like that, stick with LiveCycle Designer, with all its limitations. LiveCycle Designer is therefore more part of the Acrobat, is Windows only, etc. etc. My impression is that Adobe is it gradually.

    InDesign is just an entry by creating a form in Acrobat. It's a comfortable and familiar layout for InDesign users. There is a large group of people who know how to create and use Acrobat Forms. No doubt some of the things you want from LiveCycle can be done by adding JavaScript, but it happens in Acrobat Pro, not in InDesign. You should spend some time in the forum of PDF Acrobat forms because you would spend part if your time in InDesign, part of your time in Acrobat Pro:
