Replacement Inspiron 518 power supply question

I think I might be in a bit of a jam of pc. Last week I bought a Dell Inspiron 518 for my wife as an upgrade to its previous computer. I'd really like to upgrade the video card in this machine yet existing 300w power supply (with no connector molex/pci-e 6 pin addition) leave my fairly limited choice.
None of the kind people you would know if I repalce with a standard, standard atx power supply. Models latest 815 Insipron there restrctions owners in their power supplies?

  • Pavilion m9670ch Desktop: replacement of the power supply

I replaced the original power supply with another more powerful (550W) earlier, I bought a new graphics card. This power is very strong, that's why I bought a new DARK PRO 10 power SUPPLY ATX 550W. Now, the computer does not start. When I press the power button, the fan starts momentarily and stops again. All cables are correctly installed. I reinstalled the old power supply (fort) again and everything works normally (except for the noisy fan). I contacted the manufacturer of the unit from the POWER of DARKNESS, but he referred me to HP, because they did not have a solution, but it may be a peculiarity of the motherboard. What can I do?

    Hello

Return the Dark Power Pro and get a Corsair CX500, or CX600.

  • Questions about the replacement of a power supply for a P7-1235

I decided to do an update on my Pavilion P7-1235. I put in a graphics card and put in power level. After doing some research on this forum and others I know well enough that I need. The only question I have is about the food. I don't know what the original power supply. There is a vent on the side where it however. So I guess that there is a fan on this side of the power supply. This eating plan I get:

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817139050 & TPK = % 20500% 20% 20modular %2 watt Corsair...

I noticed that the fan is on top? Now there is no high ventilation in my P7-1235, I worry for nothing? I think that all the supplys to look the same. What is the top of the fan page for? Or can anyone suggest a replacement perfect for my exact Pavilion model?

Sorry if the questions are stupid, but I'm still learning and want to do what I can myself!

    Hello

Yes, you can use the power supply the same way. The image is in a vertical position for the convience of the buyer. I have the same with number of power supplies and it was fine. You can check the following links people have set up exact POWER supply in different ways.

    http://pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/Corsair-power-supply-cx500m

    However, please be aware of your power supply size and your case. If you have all materials/components in stock for your computer, then it is what it is;

    ATX case:

    : Height 39.4 (15.55 inches)

    Width: 17.5 cm (6.89 in)

    Depth: 40.9 cm (16,14 inches)

    PSU stock:

    (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches)

    And the power supply you want;

    Corsair size;

    "5.9"x 3.4"x 6.3"

As you can see the length of the Corsair is considerably larger than your stock of power supply. This could hampor of air or could even make it so the holes of the PSU and the case does not match. However, this is usually not what worry. The height and width that should be worried because the length rarely causes problems, I wanted to just make sure that you knew in advance.

Take advantage of your power supply; Corsair is a great brand.

  • UCS C200 Server Power Supply Question

We make some changes in our data center and which involves electric grid.  We had to replace our Dustribution of power rack and to respond to the charge, we moved 208V, 3 phase power distribution.  Read the literature, I see that the power supply to the UCS C200 servers can operate 115V to 230V AC.

My questions are: is it everything I have on power supply from 120V AC 208 v power supply power supply power supply?  Can I have a power running at 120 v and the other operating at 208V?  I try to avoid the closure of the server.

  • HP ENVY PHOENIX CTO 810-135QE - 600 watts power supply Question

In the near future, I would like to upgrade the video card in my desktop HP ENVY PHOENIX CTO 135QE-810 GT 640 default to something a little more powerful and I was wondering if there is any details about the default 600 watts power that will help me in my decision to the next video card.

I know that some video cards require a number of amps on the 12 volt rail and all the information that I have found previously on the power of 600 watts power supply in the computer is not in that kind of detail.

What I read, the power is a Petrus 600W e-star 5.0 Bronze, HP Part number 633186-002.

Any additional details and details on this power to help me determine the next video card would be useful.

On a side note the video card, I'm currently doing is one of the next Nvidia GTX 750 TI models, thoughts and recommendations on this specific map?

    Thank you

    JCOOPER2

    Hello

Your PC has UEFI bios, so most video cards should work.  Some video cards will work in UEFI mode and others in legacy mode, that your PC is able to run.

When the manufacturer of the video card and/or AMD or NVIDIA specify a minimum power supply size then it is best to stick to this recommendation.  Not all power supplies are built to the same standards of quality.  In addition the internal components, temperature, charges unknown and time that the PC will be placed under the maximum load are taken into account at the recommendation of minimum power supply is indicated.

I have not seen a power of 500 watts with 12v rating of 18A, but this does not mean that there is not. And if that's the case, then the total power rating is suspect. A video card that requires an external auxiliary power connector will also draw power from the PCI-E slot.

Are there cases where the minimum size of the power supply is insufficient? Yes, those who might be extreme but someone can have connected to power different connectors either to avoid buying a new power supply or maybe around just the food manufacturer minimum power rating. Some may do it thinking 'I'm going on fox the Fox ". It can work, but maybe the questions later start occurred.  I prefer to get the job done right the first time. You don't need a power supply to perhaps of overload and short circuit then internally causing spikes to the components in the PC.

    Hello

I found the other thread you have created in the past:

Looks like you had some problems with the AC adapter in the past
Don't know not if this issue could have something to do with the previous question, but the use of incompatible cards could affect on the motherboard also.

However, if you are sure that the adapter is 100% ok, then the problem could be related to ESF on the motherboard as you see, here in the forum, we can assume that I think that only a technician of the laptop could provide more details after checking the s portable

  • Replacement of the power supply

My son-in-law told me that I need to replace my power supply for my HP Pavilion p6110f, it should be 250 or 300 watts and 80 + Bronze rating.   I run Windows Vista if that matters.  Someone please just give me a suggestion for the right product?  Can it be 700W?  I don't know about these things and would like to have the correct unit of someone to install.  Thank you!

As long as he phsyically fits in the space, it can be 400w and upward.  Unless the user has replaced the video card with a card really demanding, 400w or 450w should be fine.  If you yourself will be the one to replace the power supply, remove the unit, take measures, then check that the replacement is the same size.  Most computers use a standardized unit now, it should be pretty easy.  Take note of where the connectors to reconnect.

  • Reference Dell GX620 Power Supply Question

What's up guys, I'm new here, and earlier this month my school made me a job on time partial like the public library IT Assistant, because I took IT out classes at my high school. I'm 18, and I know a little about computers. My question is, one of our computers at the library, a GX620, the power supply of the machine went wrong and that we have at the back of the library are detached power supplies for GX520, I asked my professor of computer SCIENCE at the school if it would be prudent to go and try to install the GX520 power in the GX620, but I'm still not sure if it will be a sure idea It would cause a fire? He would burn something inside the PC? My COMPUTER teacher told me to check the amps and volts on feeding 620, and I checked, the GX620 power supply has a maximum of 275 WATTS, while feeding GX520 has a maximum of 220 WATTS, is completely switch the GX620 bad diet, with the GX520 spare?

And you know that the PSU is bad, how... ?

First, you will need to know if the spare GX520 PSU's for the same (Tower, Desktop, small, ultra compact) form factor as the GX620 before you can even think to use it because if the form factor of the PC is different, it cannot even between.

There is a block of POWER W 220 here that says: it adapts GX520 both GX620 Desktop. But if you do not have a GX620 Desktop, this power supply may be a bit low power if the original was 275W.

That said, you can get a power supply for the GX620 here for less than $30, depending on the form factor. If your existing GX620 power SUPPLY PSU 275W, it seems you might have a small GX620 form, based on the specs of the PSU indicated on this page.

  • Can power supply Question - I use the 230W power supply with a W540?

    I have a W540, which currently uses a power 170W (8.5 a 20V)

    I got also a docking station for a P50 that has a power of 230W showing 20V 11. 5a.

The connectors are similar, but I'm hesitant to try the 230W power supply in the W540.

It is allowed to use the 230W power supply with the W540?

230 watts is maximum power feeding, it only provides the energy required by the computer.

I sold my W540, so I can't test it for you. But I do use the ThinkPad X 1 carbon with 230 watts without no problem power adapter.

    Hello

The Sapphire 5770 that you posted the picture for should match as much as the adjacent PCI-E slot on the PCI-E x 16 in your PC slot is vacant.  The card is 8.5 "in length, but it's double wide.  It is now time for you to open the PC and measurement.

  • Power supply question - amber LED flashing - Dimension E520

So, I'm working on the dust removal and re - install windows on a machine. I've done dusting, but now I have problems with a LED flashes orange. The system will not top all - fuel without fans or beeps.

After looking through some posts for ideas, I think it is a bad power supply or a problem with the heat sink.

I think power because this seems to be a common problem. How can I test the existing? Is there a way to fire unless it is connected to the motherboard?

The reason why I am wary of the heatsink is that I removed it when I was doing the dusting. I had the intention of fire tonight and get a new thermal paste in the coming days. Since then, I have read that this could be a recipe for frying the total CPU and I wonder if the machine is not pulled up like a check for free preservation any.

It detects if I removed the heatsink? If it's happening, it will automatically detect when the new thermal paste is in there? Or is there a reset procedure any?

Any help would be great. Thank you!

As a side note, the design of this box is poor. I can't find some way to dust effectively the heatsink without removing it from the central unit. Supply openings do not match, so you cannot blow a good flow of air through the box.

A flashing orange switch LED means that the computer is under voltage, but a power problem internal may exist.

This may indicate a bad diet

Are the Diagnostic LEDs on the front panel lite?

I cycle his power and it recovers - the PC reboots immediately - no need to press the power button.

    Any suggestions or ideas?

    Thanks in advance!

You must buy the 330W adapter and do not Overlock grapich card. If you can put your plug of gpu failing, do.
