Replacement motherboard now, windows XP will not activate, everything remained the same.

Our computer crashed, then we realised the motherboard was faulty, then we replaced. After starting the computer, everything went well, windows said to activate before it could begin. We went through the activation by phone, but he said, that he could not activate. We have not changed anything in the computer except the motherboard, is there a way to get this reactive?

As Noel mentioned, if the XP is initially pre-installed on this PC, it is an OEM version and is linked to the computer (specifically the motherboard of the PC).

However, if it is not an OEM version, while the question is perhaps that you have to re - activate by phone.

If none of these scenarios fits your specific problem, so please follow post Christmas how view a diagnosis report

Thank you

    Resettlement on new disc

    Hey there-

I bought a new SSD, had it installed and installed Windows XP by using a Setup disk I had laying around.  He wants to be activated (even if the original installation is always on the computer, but on the 'slave', non-Boot drive).  When I try to use the activation code that was on the original hard disk, it will not work.  On the last 10-15 years, of which several were recovered for parts, I bought at least a half dozen computers with Windows XP (i.e., I have many more devices running Windows XP licenses).  I tried to enter codes Activation of certain decisions which have been taken down, and I can't at work either one of them.  I tried to use dial-in Activation (by entering the installation of 54-digit ID), with no luck as well.  Is it possible to get it work?

  • Windows 7 will not activate with the OEM key, after the failure of HARD drive.

    Hello

I was recently asked to repair my brother DELL laptop.  The HARD drive failed and the system unusable.  I replaced the HARD drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 (earlier version of windows) from my own installation media.  The recovery partition had survived the failure of HARD drive, I would have just cloned that and used, but this was not an option in this case.

The problem that I am experiencing, is that windows don't will not activate, saying that the key is not valid.  I was told that installing Windows 7 media would work with a retail or an OEM key, but that doesn't seem to be the case.  The key OEM I use, is from the computer it came from originally, and the only material change is the new HARD disk.

I try to avoid ordering an OEM Dell installation CD, as which costs money (I already have my own installation CD) and takes time (why do they have them available for download?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you use an OEM SLP key that only works with the manufacturers recovery media.

change the product key to that on computers of COA
Click Start, type slui3, press ENTER.

    Additional information:

Computers, which are built by large manufacturers provided with pre-installed Windows are supplied with 2 two product keys:

OEM SLP: This key comes pre-installed in Windows, when it comes to the factory. This key is designed to work with the special instructions isn't on the hardware of this manufacturer. Then, when Windows was installed using the OEM SLP (in factory) Windows 7 key leans on the motherboard and he sees special instructions and activates. (that's why you had no need to turn on your computer after you brought it home)

COA SLP: it's the product key that you see on the sticker on the side (or at the bottom, [or in the battery compartment]) of your computer. It is a valid product key, but must be used only in certain situations (for example, if the OEM SLP key stops automatic activation for a reason any). The key must be activated by phone. (Note: all manufacturers that use the SLP OEM system are bound by contract to include a certificate of Authenticity sticker (COA), which has a COA SLP key, on the computer)

    Hey Brian39

If you change the motherboard that you normally have to reinstall vista

your hard drive if you ever reinstalled vista contains the drivers for the old motherboard etc.

and if vista is pre-installed you can not put the motherboard unless you do so in collaboration with the computer manufacturer

If a retail license, you can change the motherboard

but you will normally always reinstall vista for reasons

  • My computer turns off during an update to windows xp and now windows xp will not load.

My computer turns off during an update to windows xp and now windows xp will not load.  It gives me the option of last known good configuration and safe mode startup and normal startup, but it just goes back to the loading screen then flashes a blue error screen then back to display boot options.  I don't have a recovery disc as the laptop does not have a CD-ROM drive or a floppy drive.  I have the product key, but I don't know where or how repair the operating system.

Contact the manufacturer of your laptop as there must be a way to restore the computer. There may be a hidden restore partition.

  • Windows 7 will not activate

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 Pro OEM from a friend of mine that I installed on my laptop a few months ago. This machine died and I had to replace it with a new desktop PC. I installed the same copy again, but it will not be activated. This old machine is over now and I use hard drive as a second drive on my new pc is not possible to disable (if there is an option like that). As far as I know, that I can still use windows copy on a new pc as long as I'm not using it on the former as well. Am I wrong? If this is not the case, what can I do to activate it?

    Concerning

    Dimitar

The license for the software on a PC OEM used may not be transferred to a new or different PC.

= Charges / credit: Andre Da Costa =.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

    - The OEM licenses are tied to all first computer you install and activate it on.

(Once installed, it cannot be moved / installed on another computer)

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

(Or install on a 2nd computer / replacement computer)

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. who is the provider of Internet (ISP) Service?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: How to fix wireless network connections in Windows XP Service Pack 2
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/870702

Method 2: To create a wireless network, you can follow these steps.

    a. click Start, click run, type ncpa.cpland click OK.

    b. in the window network connections, right click on the wireless network connection icon and then click Properties.

    c. in the wireless network connection properties, click the wireless networks tab. If you do not see a wireless networks tab, your network card can not take over the automatic Wireless Configuration service.

    d. under preferred networks, click the Add button.

  • Windows XP will not activate.

Starting a box appears on the screen and Windows asks me to activate, when I do this another box comes up and says that Windows is already activated. I now have four days to activate Windows XP.

It was a new update in a store, and yes a new motherboard has been implemented with only a few weeks. What is this business of piracy? This copy was placed in the shop and I used my original disc number I had in my old machine for a while?

What we say here that XP original and the number isn't good and everytime I update, I have to buy a software from Microsoft?

This means you are trying to install an OEM of Windows version which was provided by a computer on another computer manufacturer. A new motherboard is classified as a new computer and will not work.

My computer starts... someone can help?

My computer starts... someone can help?

I was wondering if someone could help me as soon as possible because I need this computer to work...

I'm pretty new in this at work, but I was put in charge of fixing one of the computers.
    Here's what happened...

It was running on windows XP Professional.
but then Windows XP Home Edition has been installed.

Someone wanted to Windows 7 on the computer, so I tried to install this... it does not work.

The computer wil not start, then when it asks to click on f12 or f2, I click on (tried twice) both
When I go to the start menu, the arrows do not work, so I can not seloect anything.
I have to let it boot to the 'Welcome' screen (where you connect)
Also ' still looks like Windows xp

I can't log on, and then I click the button to do this, it gives me a message that says:
"you must activate this copy of windows to connect, you want to activate it now?

It gives me the options of Yes and no.
When I click No., goes back to the Welcome screen
but when I click Yes, it looks like it will record in, but the only thing that appears is the image on the desktop and the cursor.
do not show the start menu, taskbar and icons on the desktop.
The last time this happened, I waited for a few hours, but it has not changed.

I have no idea what to do

    Additional details

I don't know if the hard drive has been formatted before I tried to install windows 7.

I tried to install windows 7 with the cd.
I also know that Windows XP Home Edition has been installed by a CD as well.
Windows XP Professional was already on the computer when it is purchased

I just tried the Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Nothing is silent... not even the Task Manager

When he told me to click on f12 for "boot menu" I did...
then he gives me these options:
    -Onboard or USB floppy
    -Onboard SATA hard drive
    -Onboard or USB CD drive

    -System configuration
    -Disk hard Diagnistics
    -Start the utility Partition

The Windows 7 CD is in the CD drive, but it is not yet installed... I want to install it, so I clicked on "Onboard or USB CD drive".

    Then he said:
"No available selected startup disk - strike f1 to retry boot, F2 to put in place the utility"

This is what happens when I press on them:
F2 - same message (I've tried several times and it has not changed)
    Information system F1 display

This can be a much more serious problem than I thought at first...

    Thank you for your help
There has been much appriciated :)

But I just fixed the problem

  • Windows 7 will not activate after a clean install and several improvements to my computer.

I bought a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  I installed my old hardware running, but found Windows 7 either too many resources.  When there was enough money kicking around to upgrade my computer a few months later I did (new card mother cpu and ram).  Windows 7 would not start normally or in safe mode, my old installation of XP would not boot normally but would start in safe mode.  So I reinstalled Windows 7 with a clean install (reformatted my hard drive) and it works fine but now it won't turn on!  It says that I have to type in a different product key because I typed the product key cannot be used to activate Windows on my computer.

I understand the need to fight against piracy, but the thought that I can't upgrade my computer without having to buy another product key is ridiculous!  There are solutions to this problem?

Activate manually.  It is detect your previous installation and seeing this as an attempt to install the product on another computer.  It is a common phenomenon.

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC and only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate the operating system.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

If this does not work (these procedures are for Vista, but I guess they will work with Windows7), and then republish your questiion in Windows7 Forums:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/threads where they can provide the procedure for this OS if it is different.

  • Windows Defender will not activate in Windows Vista

I use windows vista and after I bought Norton 360 and put it on my HP laptop... whenever I wish my PC it seems there is a problem with windows security. When I open my windows Defender would emerge but let me enable it by running the update for it.  Now it lights up at all... I get a message that windows security is unable to activate windows defender on please try again later... more later she just said and did the same thing and will not let me install another version of windows defender... OH one thing... after having installed Norton on this laptop as well as my other more old or my CD/DVD burner drivers works not at all... will not read a disc at all... what happens?

You should never have 2 versions on any antivirus installed on your computer, or 2 different AVs installed.

    It will cause problems.

I suggest that solve you your Norton anti-virus to address any problem of CD.

If you have Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, McAfee, Norton, etc. installed, they have a conflict with Windows Defender, or turn it off.

Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and should automatically disable the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

    If it's not:

Turn Windows Defender on or off the information on the link above of Microsoft.

Hope the above explains the common compatibility issues with Windows Defender and other security programs.

I was doing something that requires adobe 9 or higher, so I updated to 10. Now my main screen will not come to the top. I can't do all the suggestions for troubleshooting because I can't get to my computer at all.  I validated and it says windows Pascal more send activationsetc. and I can't update because I can't.

Try to start in safe mode (press F8 immediately and repeatedly after Power Up Self Test and before Windows starts) and uninstall Adobe Reader X.  Then try to restart normally.

  • Windows 7 will not activate, but Genuine Advantage confirms the valid installation

I built my own PC for years. Once a year, or as needed, I backup all my data and reinstall my OS.  This weekend I did the same thing with the copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, I bought at the University that I attended. Installation goes smoothly, however, I get a message that windows cannot activate.  When I click to see the details of the error, it indicates the following information was found about this error:

    Code: 0xC004C003

Description: The activation server determined that the specified product key has been blocked.

I have installed since my original disc by using the same key that I used.  I tried to download MGADIAG. EXE and running it. He says the following:
