Hello

At first, I must say that it is user in the forum and here you can chat with others who have laptops Toshiba and want to share their own experiences. Unfortunately here you won't get official Toshiba support.

Generally, replacement of the CPU is very delicate issue and quite often discussed on this forum. The fact is that Toshiba and other manufacturers of portable computers do not support these updates.
Toshiba has offered a few document on this matter and you can read it on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Unfortunately I can't provide accurate information on the CPU that you can use, but I assume that you have the new laptop model so CPU upgrade makes no sense to me. It's quite risky upgrade that will void your warranty. What you can try is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and seek advice. They should have valid information about hardware compatibility.

    Hello

I have a portable Satellite U940-108. I had to replace the hard drive failure.

This error also occurs if Win 8.1 is installed with an installation CD, and then the drivers are loaded.
I have updated the drivers to the latest version.

    I beg your help.

After the HARD disk has been removed and replaced the RAID configuration is lost and must be rebuilt.
I don t know exactly the procedure, but in order to use the RAID feature that is controlled by the Intel Rapid Storage Technology, the RAID must be to rebuild and this can be done by the service provider accredited with special tools and method.

After that, I guess that this error will go away.

  • Wanting to upgrade the CPU in the satellite L20 196

    Hello

I'm new to this forum but have owned this laptop new a moment right now. As time has passed I noticed he has aged rapidly in recent months and needs a boost of speed.
I upgraded the RAM, a matching pair to 1 GB (896 MB showing, guess that's graphic shared?), but still not quite quickly enough.

My question is, can I upgrade the processor to a Pentium M or at least a faster Celeron?
If Yes, then what is the best possible processor that will be compatible? Autour Googling, I see I'm not alone on this idea, but all the info and comments where other L20 and not my model 196 in question.
Do I have reason to believe that the limits are 400 Mhz FSB, 1.5 GHz and 478 pins for this laptop?
Finally, I replaced and rebuilt a lot of PC in the past. A laptop (my L20) is much more difficult to remove and replace a CPU?

Thank you and look forward to any comments thereon.

In General, the CPU upgrade is not supported. More info on what you can read under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

To be clear. Your Satellite L20 is really not the best laptop and on the scale of 1 to 5 when 5 of the best, I give your laptop 2. This laptop is designed for day-to-day activities like Office, internet, watching movies, listening to music and writing emails. So I think that with the preinstalled operating system and well set to own and 1 GB of RAM, it must have enough power for this.

I don't know what you want to do with this good old classic, but if you need laptop with more power for games or multimedia activities, I think it's time for the new laptop computer.

Please don't be crazy on me because I did not offer exact answer, but I just want to be realistic and honest with you.

  • Temperature CPU of the Satellite A60 Pentium 4 2.80 Ghz

2 months ago, I bought the Satellite A60. I felt that the temperature of the CPU becomes very high, I downloaded a program that monitors the CPU-temperatur. Especially during the games JAVA the temp was 78 degrees Celsius. What is the normal temperature, and if the temperature is high, what can I do about it?

    Hi Thuder251,

in my opinion, 78 degrees Celsius is a bit hot for a P4 in a notebook.

The best way is to put the laptop to your dealer or to a Toshiba Service partner.

Go to https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com - Support & downloads, you will find a list of all the European partners in Service.

I would ask him if they can do a stress test and check if the P4 is really hot.

You are guaranteed and therefore this short assessment should be no problem.

  • Replacement of motherboard on the Satellite 5100-603 - BIOS update is required?

    Hello
I just replaced a dead card main satellite 5100 603 with a new main Board which I could get on ebay (Toshiba card system FNZSY2 - A5A000160010 P000341750-Ref.). If I boot with an installation of XP DVD it starts but hangs with the message "unexpected error (536674392) on line 1768 in D:\xpspi\base\boot\set-up\arcdisp.c".

I realized that there are versions of different bios for various models 5100 satellite. I think I flashed the bios of 5100-603 last for this problem.
Is this correct? (start with BART-PE from CD or HDD BART-PE raises the same error msg text in another look)

    Hello

to get your motherboard to work you must write about the UUID (Universal Unique Identifier).
As far as I know, you can get the UUID to a Toshiba service partner writing tool.

  • Upgrade CPU on the Satellite L75D

    Hello

My Satellite model 17 L70D-A-009 "AMD A10 5750 M mobile computer has up and died on me. 2 different repair shops to agree with me that it is the motherboard, so I bought another. Its used and as one of mine, the model number is A000243670 but is it a satellite, model L75D-A7268NR 17 "AMD A8 5500.
I think that the 2 boards differ in that each of them have a rendering different BIOS chip my A10 does not work on the new Board of Directors. That or the A10 in my laptop is hooped.

Anyway, the question I have is can the AMD A8 5500 in the Satellite L75D - A7268NR 17 "be upgraded with the A10 5750 M.

    Thank you

    First important information:
Update CPU is not supported by the laptop manufacturers.
This means that information on possible and compatible processors are not provided by the manufacturer.

However, the CPU upgrade depends on two main points: chipset and BIOS.
In case one of the parts mentioned would not support the new processor, the update is not possible.

From my own experience, the upgrade of the AMD CPU is more complicated as an upgrade to an Intel processor. A lot of people here in the forum already updated the Intel CPU, but I did not have anyone who has improved an AMD processor...

Satellite L75D-A7268NR was not released in Europe however, USA. and probably you should check the Toshiba forum us for more details on this laptop.

  • Updates to Windows on the Satellite P845T-108

I just bought a new P845T-108 Satellite with touch screen and Windows 8.

While I am expecting to receive a large number of Windows updates, I seem to have problems to install the. Often it is said there are 103 updates, if I click to download, which takes forever! Then he said: which install also takes a long time. At the end of it tells me to restart. what I'm doing. Some facilities occur but the message Failed - reverting changes.

    Is this good?

    Hello

In my opinion, this is Microsoft related question to verify please what Microsoft write-http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358

In my opinion, you should follow:
-If you can start your laptop OS start and create recovery media first (image backup recovery)
-install the recovery media using HARD drive option or created a support of recovery-http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm
-After doing this, you will have good rework plant and OS parameters
-disable the automatic updates of Windows. Do manyally after you ve been informed of available updates
-do not optional updates for some updates of available drivers
-a list of important updates and install only a part of it
-After restarting the laptop computer do it again.

You know that's not easy to say what was wrong with the updates Windows. Just, without panic. ;)

  • How to get and replace a key on the Satellite A100-522?

    Hey, Toshiba.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-522 model No. PSAA2E-01C01EED and one of my shift keys
has broken below, so I can't use it (the small plastic bar to balance the key is broken
If the key "blockages". Can I send it for repair to the warranty, and Ive talked to the
seller, but I don't have the time to send it for repair (no laptop replacement in the meantime).

Is it possible to get a new key and replace it myself? I know that some other laptop producers do the same thing,
rather than use a lot of time on repairs, if they are too simple.

    Hello

Well, it's very easy to replace the keys.
    Please check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=20727&MessageID=76283

But if the key is broken you will need to replace the entire keyboard.
To remove the keyboard, you have to remove the cover plastic thinking above the F keys.
Under this coverage, you will find 2 crews secure the keyboard
Remove the two screws and remove the cable from the flat keyboard which is connected to the motherboard.

  • Re: update CPU on the Satellite C855D-164

HI, I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite C855D-164 and I would like to know if it is possible change the processor for other better. (Please list)

(my processor is AMD 1200 E1)

    Thank you.

    Hello

Sometimes its advised to read other threads where the same question has already been asked.

There was a similar question for Satellite C850D.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=73956

Satellite C850D and C855D models support the same chipset and the same processor so info s Francesco should apply to your laptop model too.

As mentioned in another thread: upgrading the CPU is not supported by the manufacturers of portable and these updates can be done only at your own risk, with no guarantee more than portable would go well after this exchange of CPU

  • Replacement of HDD on the Satellite A100-644

    I have a Toshiba Satellite A100-644 (PSAA8E-077017DU model number), I bought it in 2006.
I think it's a fair time length that has passed, so I think the replacement of the hard drive now. I want to about 120 GB
Can someone tell me where to find the specs for the new HD tech so that I make sure that I have buy the right thing?
    Thanks in advance
    Yamil
    (Amsterdam)

According to specification for laptop, your laptop's SATA HDD inside. So everything you need to do is to buy a SATA HDD.
Theoretically, you can use more HARD drive capacity of 120 GB.
I have updated more older M70 with 250 GB SATA HDD and everything was OK.

So, check prices and buy new HARD drive. I recommend one with 200 GB. It should be enough, isn t it?

  • Upgrade CPU on the Satellite C850D

My Toshiba Satellite is equipped with a processor 1.4 GHz very slow and im quite fed up of not being able to run many applications at all due to its extremely slow speed of calculation. is there a way I could get a more powerful processor for this computer? If Yes, what else it would take like a necessary upgrade for it?

    Data sheet:

Processor: AMD E1 - 1200 APU with graphics HD Radeon (TM) 1.40 GHz
Installed (live RAM) memory 4.00 GB (3.60 GB usable)
    system type: 64-bit operating system
Pen and touch: no stylus or touch.

I can get and install RAM and SSD myself, I just want to know if theres a possible CPU to update here.

Generally speaking, CPU or GPU update is not supported. More info on what you can read on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Due to the specific design each laptop has the cooling system specific that allows the optimum temperature of material and do not allow any laptop to run on the critical temperature. A more powerful processor means more heat, so I think that's not such a good idea to change. CPU utilization slightly faster not bring you performance much more, I guess. Three years ago my brother has updated CPU on his old machine P300 but there is not much difference.

After upgrade RAM and SSD laptop was very fast, very big initialize and reaction time.
You are right about RAM and SSD. You can do this alone.

Post if you please the exact model name and we can check what RAM modules are compatible with it.
