Replacement of TEAC DW-224th

I recently broke the combo drive on my Portege M100, a Teac DW-224th-A35 and is seeking a replacement. I found someone selling a Teac DW-224th-A59. Before you buy this person does not know if it will be compatible?

Thank you, Tom

    One thing...
The plastic on the front is at an angle of 45 degrees on the drive already installed. On other readers, I found, the plastic is at right angles.
Someone at - it experience with change of 30 disks, and can you tell me if this little piece of plastic will in fact be important when mounting a replacement?
    See you soon!

    Hi Adam,.

Assuming that you want to replace your TEAC DW224E with the same model, then it should be possible to unclip the Panel fairing plastic of the old unit and mount it on the new drive. You will also need to remove the metal bracket at the rear of the car which is used to hold with the screws on the base of the laptop.

I recently replaced my TEAC DRIVE with a CARPET * A UJ825 which is a slide of model rather than one with a drawer to open. The front panel is totally different on Matchita player, but he is still my A30-141.

  • Combo drive does not, looking for replacement

I have a Satellite 2410-304 witch has a combo drive Teac DW-224th which does not work properly. I decided to replace it for another brand new one.

How can I replace my old combo and install a new one?

    Hello

As far as I know to remove the screw that is placed at the bottom of the unit on the right side. Then, it should be possible to pull out of the unit.
But I m not a technician and I can t tell you the detailed procedure.
In this case, I recommend to contact the service partner for a replacement because he has more experience in such cases.

    Hello Andrew

Replace the drive on Satellite 5200 is very complicated, and most of the aircraft must be dismantled. Problem is that the CD/DVD drive is set on the system board.

If you are not familiar with the procedure for disassembly please don t do it alone. Believe me it's very complicated.

  • Why not start 4090XCDT Satellite with DVD-R/W drive?

    Hello
I fear I know the answer, but confirmation would be very useful for me!
Bought a Satellite 4090XCDT opportunity where the former owner has replaced the original CD-ROM with a 2004 Quanta Storage SDW-042 DVD - RW.
Seems that it was not so smart I have thougth - computer laptop won't boot from CD (BIOS is set to CD-floppy-HDD, of course). So I can't install any system Windows on it. If I insert Windows 2000 boot disks, for example, it reads all the four of them and then said "no CD-ROM not found", probably because no DVD - RW driver is available on the Win2k installation media.

Is it possible the BIOS since the 1999 (?) Satellite won't be able to boot from the DVD player in 2004 even though the previous owner _had_ installed a Windows 98 that was able to read - but not boot - DVD player? Can I solve the problem to downgrade the drive from DVD - RW to a CD-ROM, the Teac DC-224th (which I believe was the original) or a similar one?

    TIA

Is it possible that the BIOS does not recognize the new CD/DVD drive because of the bad settgins of master/slave/c-salt.
You should know that not all CD/DVD players are compatible.

But it could also be a failure of CD/DVD drive and the BIOS does not therefore see the STRANGE news.

  • Identification of compatible optical drives for Satellite 1800

    Hello

I want to upgrade the optical drive on my laptop Toshiba S1800-314, which is about 10 years old.
When I had installed is the original - a CD Teac CD-224th.

However, it is the first time I upgraded to an optical drive, and I don't know how I should go about identifying the compatible players and I can't find anything useful on the Internet. Can someone advise me?

There are a variety of optical drives listed in my manual that were mounted in the S1800 series and I guess that's not compatible, but I can't see them having a higher yield compared to discs later.

    Any help would be appreciated.

You're right, that you will not get performance gain after update ODD (optical disc).
I m not very well why you want to add new ODD, but to my eyes, this replacement is unnecessary.

If the led of the reader (the one at the front of the car) is on at any time when you turn on the machine, I would say the failed drive and must be replaced.

The led light, but I can't boot from them and windows doesn'n even recognize them. Is it possible my laptop works with the same kind of player?

The same drive is always better, because on this way, you will be sure that it will work properly 100%. In my opinion you have some compatibility issue because each car can not be used with any laptop. Unfortunately there are no public list with compatible readers but this info you can get from Toshiba service partner in your country.

Did you check device manager if the drive is recognized properly?
Check it out. In addition, you can try to remove the drive from Device Manager.
After restarting the OS should recognize the drive again.

You can boot from the bootable CD?

If so, then try to remove the upperfilters and lowerfilters:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?ID=314060

If you cannot start from the CD, then either:

    (1) the ODD or another component of the motherboard connector is defective / in bulk.
    (2) the original Teac ODD is defective, and the new Sony is not compatible (has the wrong master/slave settings)

  • Compatibility of CD 4090CDS satellite

    Hi there :)

I have a laptop 4090CDS satellite. Its cd-rom (Teac CD-224th) no longer works and I would like to replace it with a COMBO DVD/CD-RW DRIVE. I had a look on ebay but I don't know what kind of player combo would be compatible with my laptop and I got eny info on the net that helps me with that. I also tried to open the laptop, but I gave up at halfway because I was afraid that I might break something. again, I searched the internet to find drawings of my laptop or a kind of guide about to open it but I have found none.

Then I was thinking of buying, and the combo USB external drive, but I discovered that my phone does not support USB booting and I hurt if it crashes and I need to install a new OS. Any suggestions? :)
Thank you very much in advance,
    Arash

    Hello

As I know that it of possible to boot from the external drive, but you need a compatible device and supported. I found a COMBO of DVD/CD-RW external compatible PLAYER like this:
    http://www.clickonit.com/product.php?product=88669&Ext=1
It should be possible to boot from this drive via the PCMCIA interface.

Well, external drives are usually more expensive than internal drives. In this case I would recommend Bye a internal. Unfortunately, he was unable for me to find one, but you can ask the Toshiba service partner for a compatible part. It can control the disc for you.
